Beauty And The Bully
After having to get out of a sunken ship, surviving a massive cyclone, landing on a deserted island, and facing an attack by giant robots, all Ash, Misty, and Brock wanted was a day to relax. They decided to skip training for the day and spend the whole day on the beach, having fun in the sun. Their first stop was the beach shop, where Brock and Ash quickly picked up swim trunks. Ash also found something else, a plastic protector that latched onto his belt, keeping Poké Balls from accidentally being washed or blown away. It could withstand hurricane force winds and rough waves and Ash snatched it up upon seeing it. After coming so close to losing his team for good, he wasn't going to let that happen again. Green spotted an inner tube that was just his size, so Ash bought it for him as well. Cobalt and Aidan laughed at how funny he looked wearing it.
Misty was still looking for a bathing suit, so Brock and Ash told her they'd meet her on the beach. Brock and Ash set up their towels high up on the beach and Ash released Psi and Yami. Aidan sat on the beach and began digging in the sand while Yami popped up with a bunch of stuff, making many beachgoers give him weird looks. Psi however kept it simple as they laid on Ash's beach towel with a slick of sunscreen on their nose, reading a book and sipping juice from a cup.
Yami: Ah~, the beach day. A nice day off full of great activities. Surfing, scuba diving, skydiving, Feraligatr wrestling, cliff jumping! There are so many life threatening activities that would kill an inexperienced man with none of the skills even I don;t have, I don;t know where to start!... *to Psi* Where's your stuff?
Psi: I have everything I need right here. A good book by Mary Hitmon Clark, fresh Nanab juice, and some SPF 30. With all the stress and training we have encountered, I am not going to live like there is no tomorrow. While I can, I am going to live like there is no today.
Yami: …*shrugs* Suit yourself.
Brock, Ash, Cobalt, Green, and Azula rushed towards the water, Green dragging his inner tube by the handle. They dived in and made a huge splash, laughing. Green floated on his inner tube and Azula waded around, then splashed Cobalt, who chuckled as he tried splashing the liard back, only to hit his brother instead. He looked indignant, then paddled up to Cobalt and shook himself off, spraying water all over her.
Misty: Hey, I thought you guys were going to meet me by the snack bar.
Ash heard Misty's voice say somthing and turned to look at her. Though his jaw nearly dropped at what he saw. She was wearing a simple pink two piece, which fitted her perfectly and was holding a beach ball colored like a Master Ball. Alex fluttered beside her and Loki stood by her side, wearing his signature shades. Ash thought Misty looked incredibly pretty, and his mind went into a fog. He forgot everything else and simply stood there staring at her. Green, Loki, Azula, and Cobalt started chuckling, but Ash didn't even hear them.
Misty: Why are you looking at me like that?
Ash: Um…uh…I…Nothing! Um…I mean…I….you… Wait, what was the question?
Misty: *blushes* Never mind.
Green: I think our Ash has a little crush on Misty, bro.
Cobalt: Little? He's head over heels for her!
Loki: And he makes it way too easy for us to tease him about it.
Misty let all of her Water Pokémon out including Mel. Loki, Staryu and Starmie paddled around lazily in the shallows. Wimpod, who Misty had nicknamed Harold, had remained close to Misty. Brock let out Bulbasaur, Croagunk, and Geodude but left Onix and Nightwing in their Poké Balls, as the rock snake absolutely hated water and the sun hurt Nightwing's eyes. Bulbasair and Geodude simply bathed in the sun while Croagunk relaxed on the towel with Psi and Aidan, who by now had dug a very large hole.
Misty: Hey Ash, if I give you the extra cash, could you get me an ice cream?
Ash: Alright, I was gonna head to the snack bar for something to drink anyway. What flavor?
Misty: Chocolate.
Ash: Okay. You want an ice cream, Brock?
Brock: Sure. Chocolate for me too please.
Ash: I'll pick up some Poké Puffs too. Psi, you have Psychic moves. Would you mind helping me carry it?
The Kadabra nodded, putting a bookmark in his book and setting it on the towel.
Psi: Very well. Croagunk, would you mind watching my book to make sure Yami doesn;t take it?
The Croagunk didn;t answer, but Psi took it as a "yes". That would be a lot of stuff for Ash to carry by himself, and knowing her trainer, he'd trip and land on his face.
Ash: Where's Aidan?
As he went to grab his wallet at the towel, he noticed Harold, Croagunk, Bulbasaur, Geodude, and Yami were still on the beach blanket but Aidan was nowhere in sight.
Aiden: I'm down here.
Ash looked down to see Aidan's blue eyes staring at him from the bottom of a big hole.
Ash: *laughs* What's with the hole to Orre, Aidan?
Aiden: I was digging for stuff.
Ash: Find anything?
Aiden: A few shells, a rock, and this.
Aidan climbed out of his hole and handed the items to Ash, one of them being what seemed to be a small orange glass ball with a red and yellow swirl inside of it.
Aiden: It looks like some kind of stone, but I don't know what it's for. *cuddles stone* Feels nice, though.
Ash took a look at the stone, it didn;t seem too familiar with him, but the colors reminded Ash of Aiden's final evolution; Charizard. Maybe he could ask Professor Oak the next time he called him. Ash put Aidan's little treasures down on his towel and grabbed his wallet, then he and Psi walked off towards the boardwalk.
Ash: Hi, I'd like three Cokes, three chocolate ice creams, and two dozen assorted Poké Puffs. Oh, one of those mega-sized Poké Puffs.
Ash told the man at the snack bar as he pointed to the mega sized Poke Puff, which was about the size of a small birthday cake. The normal sized ones would probably qualify as crumbs to Mel. The man rang up his order and started boxing up the Poké Puffs, then putting the ice cream cones and drinks in a carrier.
Ash: Thanks for coming to help me, Psi. Don't think I would have been able to carry all this by myself.
Psi: No need to worry.
Psi took the two boxes, carrying the regular sized Poké Puffs as Ash carefully balanced the drink carrier on top of the other box with the giant Poke Puff. They started to head back to the others, but heard a voice behind them.
?: Ash?
Ash and Psi turned to see Professor Oak, wearing a more beach-orineted outfit.
Ash: Oh hi, Professor Oak. What are you doing here?
Prof. Oak: I'm part of the Pallet Town Volunteer patrol. We took a weekend to come down here and help clean up the beach. Your-
But his sentence was cut off by another voice as a woman wearing beachwear came up to him. Ash smiled brightly at this sicen this woman happened to be Delia, his mother.
Delia: Ash! Hi, sweetheart! How are you doing, honey? I bet you're surprised to see me here!
Ash: I'm doing fine, Mom. Just getting some snacks for me, Brock, Misty, and our Pokémon. Want to meet them?
Delia: I'd love to meet your friends. *notices Psi* Who's this cutie with the box?
Ash: This is Psi, my Kadabra. *to Psi* Psi, this is my mom.
Psi gave Delia a smile, bowing their head in greeting.
Psi: How do you do?
They walked back to the others and Brock went over to Ash, removing the drink container so Ash could set the box down.
Brock: If you told me you were getting this much, I could have helped you…. *notices Delia and Oak* Oh, hello!
Misty came running in from the water, Loki, Alex, Cobalt, and Green behind her.
Misty: Oh good, you got the… Oh, hi, Mrs. Ketchum, Professor Oak.
Delia: Hello. Brock and Misty, right? *they nod* It's wonderful to finally meet my Ashy's friends in person. I see you've been taking good care of him.
Ash: Mom! You make me sound like a baby!
Delia: You'll always be my baby.
Delia told him this whilst smiling and hugging Ash. Brock, Misty, and Ash's Pokémon tried to hide their laughter, but Loki didn't.
Delia: Aww, they're all so adorable! Which ones are yours, sweetie?
Yami got off his towel and flew right over to Delia, smiling and laughing while hovering in front of her.
Yami: Hi, I'm Yami!
Delia backed up a step in nervousness, making the ghost look a little downcast.
Ash: It's okay, mom. This is Yami, my Gengar. *scartches Ymai's head* He's just a big ol goofball.
Delia hesitantly reached out to scratch Yami on the head, then smiled and relaxed as he smiled wider into her touch.
Prof. Oak: Wow, a Gengar AND a Kadabra in one party? You must truly be the envy-iducer, my boy.
Cobalt and Green came out from the water, Cobalt's tail wagging as he approached Delia.
Delia: And you remember Cobalt and Green, right Mom?
Delia: Of course I remember cute little Cobalt! Look at you, all big and strong!
Delia cooed, scooping the Lucario into a hug, which he was happy to return.
Prof Oak: Interesting, I've never seen a Lucario this affectionate before.
Ash: Well, that's Cobalt for you.
Delia: *Green approaches* And this must be little Green, all grown up!
Green: *blushes* Grovyle….
The reptile kept a strong face, but smiled and blushed more as Delia pet him. She noticed Aidan standing next to Ash.
Delia: And who's this little cutie?
She reached down to pet Aidan, but he hid behind Ash's legs nervously, not wanting to be picked up and squeezed by a total stranger.
Ash: Aidan's a little shy. *to Aiden* Don't be afraid, Aidan. This is my mom. She'd never hurt you.
Aidan came out from behind Ash and cautiously approached Delia, who knelt down and let him sniff her hand before gently petting his head.
Aiden: I like her.
Cobalt came back from Psi, who had found out Azla was reading their book but allowed her to stay, and handed Aidan a Poké Puff and Delia reached over and scratched behind his ear. However, she trailed where Cobalt had left from, noticing Azula, who turned and became alarmed at the sight of her.
Delia: Oh? I don;t recognize that Pokemon.
Ash: Oh, That's Azula. My most recent catch.
The Sobble turned to Delia, looking nervous. But as soon as Aiden told her about the woman, she slowly approached Delia, who was happy to pick her up and hug her, stroking her gently.
Prof. Oak: Incredible! You caught a Sobble? Those are only found in Galar, how did you find one?
Ash: It's a…. Long story.
Delia: Your Pokémon are so adorable.
Ash: They're the best.
Ash smiled as he ate his ice cream. He saw Mel swimming out in the ocean and realized that Misty's Gyarados must not have seen him come back.
Ash: Oh, I need to call Mel in so she can get her Poké Puff!
Ash set the remainder of his ice cream back in the holder and grabbed the large Poké Puff.
Delia: So what type of Pokémon is Mel?
Misty: She's my Gyarados. But don't worry, he's very friendly.
Misty helped Ash as they started to wade out, carrying the giant Poké Puff. Delia gasped as the huge Gyarados approached her son.
Misty: Hi, Mel.
The girl petted Mel, making her croon in delight while Ash opened the box with the Poke Puff.
Ash: Here you go. It was the biggest Poké Puff they had.
Ash held out the pastry to Misty's Gyarados, who took it from his hands with extreme gentleness. With a permitting nod from Misty, Ash scratched Mel's head as she ate and let out a rumbling purr. Professor Oak and Delia gaped at Ash, their eyes as big as saucers. Ash was petting a huge Gyarados and it was purring like a Meowth kitten! How was this even possible?
Ash noticed them staring at him.
Ash: Why are you looking at me so weird?
It was here that Ash's Pokémon, Brock, and Misty burst out laughing.
Ash: And why are you guys laughing? What'd I do?

After Delia and Professor Oak snapped out of their shock, they revealed that they still had some time left, so Delia offered to treat Ash and his friends to lunch, which they happily accepted. Ash recalled Psi and Yami, and Brock and Misty recalled all their Pokémon except Loki, who had been absolutely refusing to stay in a Poké Ball since their adventure at Pokémon Island. They discussed where to eat and Brock suggested Moe's, the restaurant the old man on the boat had told him about. The others readily agreed, and they set off.
As they entered the restaurant, they found it was nearly empty except for the old man and a black-haired teenage boy who was sitting at the counter, an Charmander on his lap and a tall, blue frog Pokemon with its tongue acting like a scarf standing by his side.
Boy: Hello. Welcome to Moe's.
The boy gently pushed the Charmander off his lap and hopped off his stool. He was tall and muscular, built like a linebacker, he wore a black vest over a red shirt t-shirt and dark jeans with black boots and a fluffy light blue scarf around his neck, along with a black bracelet with a shiny stone on his wrist.
Boy: I'm Alain.
Prof. Oak: Oh hello, Alain, I didn't know you worked here.
Misty: You two know each other?
Prof. Oak: Alain works with an associate of mine, Professor Sycamore in the Kalos region. He's studying a very particular subject called Mega Evolution.
Ash: Mega Evolution?
Alain: That'd be right. Also, I don't work here, my uncle just needed some help for a few days so my girlfriend and I came to Porta Vista to help him out.
Alain led them to a table and the group sat, TAiden hopping into Ash's lap and Azula on his shoulder, while Loki hopped into Misty's lap while Cobalt and Green took seats near Ash. Alain gave them their menus and took their drink orders.
Ash: So what would you recommend here?
Alain: *chuckles* Well, I like everything But I'd have to say the deluxe burger and fries is my favorite. Especially the fries.
Ash: Really now?
Alain: Best in Porta Vista.
Ash: I'll try that, then. Your Charmander is adorable, by the way.
At that, the little Charmander smiled as Ash looked at the amphibious Pokemon, taking out his Pokedex to scan it.
Pokedex: Greninja, the Ninja Pokémon. A Water and Dark type. Greninja can compress water into sharp-edged throwing stars. With the grace of a ninja, it slips in and out of sight to attack from the shadows.

The frog approached Ash, looking at him intently before settling down, giving him a nod before going back to lean against a wall.
Alain: Hm. Jiraiya must like you. He doesn't usually take to strangers.
Ash gently scratched Alain's Charmander behind the head and it lay at his feet as Alain took the rest of their orders. Suddenly the door to the kitchen opened and a humanoid Pokémon with green hair, a spiked face, a red horn on its chest and a white body that almost looked like it was wearing a dress came out, carrying their drinks on a tray. She levitated their drinks and placed each one in front of the person who had ordered it, not making any mistakes.
Ash: What type of Pokémon is that, Alain? I've never seen anything like him or her in Kanto before.
The Pokémon smiled at him, amused.
?: I'm a Gardevoir, little speaker. My name is Luna.
Alain snapped his head around to look at Luna, then stared at Ash in shock, but quickly snapped out of it.
Alain: She's my Gardevoir, a Psychic Pokémon from Hoenn. Her name is Luna. I received her as a gift from my mother.
He left to go take their orders to the cook as Ash decided to scan the new humanoid Pokemon as well..
Pokedex: Gardevoir, the Embrace Pokemon. A Psychic and Fairy type. Gardevoir are often cautious of different situations as they have the ability to predict the future. Its psychic power allows them to create miniature black holes to protect those that earn its trust.
The doors in the back of the restaurant opened, revealing the old man from before as he came over.
Old Man: Hello, my friends. I forgot to introduce myself to you last time we met. I'm Moe, though you probably guessed it from the name of my restaurant. How have you been enjoying your stay in Porta Vista?
Misty: It's been wonderful. I love the beach.
Alain came out and they all chatted for a few minutes more, then Alain and Luna went back to check on their food. They came out with the steaming plates after a minute. Ash took a bite of his burger.
Ash: Okay, this is probably the best burger I've ever had.
Green: Plus, these fries. Oh Arceus, these fries~!
Cobalt: He's right, these probably are the best fries in Porta VIsta.
Misty: Good suggestion, Brock.
Suddenly the restaurant door banged open, and a short red-haired old woman walked in, smirking. Alain's Charmander left Ash's feet and stood next to Alain, glaring at the woman.
Woman: Well, well, it looks like you don't need a reservation in here any more.
Alain: *growling* Brutella.
Alain growled as he glared at her while Moe and Luna put their hands on his shoulders to calm him down.
Brutella: If things keep up like this, you might have to go out of business. And with all the accidents that I heard have been happening here, I don't blame your customers for not showing up. This place is a death trap.
Misty: Accide-
Alain: Accidents, my a…rear end. I'm pretty sure SOMEONE was sabotaging us. And I have the feeling I know who was behind it.
Brutella: Listen, you big brute, don't make accusations you can't prove. *to Moe* And as for you, you'd better pay me back that dough you owe me.
Moe: You'll get your money.
Brutella: Well, I want it by tomorrow night. And if you don't pay me back every penny, I'll just take that boat of yours instead.
Moe: *horrified* No, please! Take anything you want, but not my baby!
Alain: You can't steal my unlce's boat! It's his home! More specifically, it's hos home a few waves away from his home!
Moe: Alain, calm down. Don't make things worse. I don't want you to get in trouble.
Brutella: *smirks* See you tomorrow.
As she left, Alain began pacing, worry filling his heart.
Alain: She can't just take your boat, can she? That's not even legal!
Moe: I'm afraid she can, Alain. And if I don't hand it over, she could sue me for everything I have.
Alaian: But that boat is your most prized possession! There has to be SOMETHING we can do!
Moe: Unless we can make that money by tomorrow, I'll have no choice.
Ash: Maybe…. Maybe we can help. If we can bring in a lot of customers, you can earn the money to pay that lady and you won't have to lose your boat.
Misty: We could make posters and hand out fliers.
Moe: *shocked* You would do that for me? But you barely even know me.
Brock: You helped us when we entered Porta Vista. Now it's our turn to help you.
Moe: Well, thank you. But how can we get enough customers to make all that money in less than 48 hours?
Prof. Oak: Might I make a suggestion? *shows newspaper* The annual Porta Vista Beach Beauty and Pokémon Costume contest starts tomorrow. It draws thousands of people in each year, and they'll all be hungry, so why don't you advertise this place? You'll clean up, and you'll make the money you need by tomorrow night.
Ash: That's a great idea.
Misty: Maybe I should enter the contest.
Prof. Oak: You should, Misty. There are cash prizes for both the beauty and the Pokémon costume contests.
Alain let what Oak had suggested go through his head, before he immediately smacked himself on the forehead
Alain: I can't believe I forgot about that contest, especially after my girlfriend got hired as photographer. It completely slipped my mind!
Misty: Where is your girlfriend anyway? I thought you said she was helping you.
Alain: I sent her shopping after the last "accident* Someone poured oil on the floor and she slipped and fell while helping wait tables. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt; just ruined her outfit. Knowing her and shopping, she'll be gone for hours.
Delia's watch beeped.
Delia: Oh, we have to get back to our shift! *kisses Ash's head* We've got to get to work. See you tomorrow at the contest, sweetie.
She and Professor Oak both left after paying the bill, where Ash then turned to Alain.
Ash: You said someone was sabotaging the restaurant. What happened?
Alain: Just about everything imaginable. Someone broke in last night and trashed the place, and we had to open an hour late because of cleaning up; the posters we set up were torn down, the vegetable oil on the floor…. And even worse, someone poured gas on the grill from the window while Uncle Moe, Jiraiya, and I were cooking! If Luna hadn't rushed in and set up a psychic shield, a huge fireball would have blown up in our faces! And I saw the guy who did it run off, but Luna and I couldn't catch him. Luna did find out from his mind that he was hired by Brutella, but we can't prove it! *deep breath*
Misty: That's awful. Why would she do something like that?
Moe: Moe's is her biggest competition. She'd do anything to run me out of business, even sabotage.
Brock: Maybe someone should stand guard.
Luna: I will be. I'll make sure the restaurant's safe; you guys just work on the posters and fliers.
Ash and Alain looked at her, then at each other.
Luna: Will either of you please translate?... *sighs* Ash, Alain is a Speaker too and Moe knows, so no one is going to reveal your secret. Alain, Brock and Misty know about Ash's ability, so you don't have to hide yours from them.
Ash: Luna says she'll stand guard and we should just work on the posters and fliers.
Moe looked shocked, but quickly composed himself while Brock and Misty stood in shock.
Alain: I've got the same gift as Ash and my uncle knows.
Misty: *sighs* Why aren't I surprised when weird things happen anymore?
Alain: It's good to meet another Speaker. I haven't met another one since Psychic school and there was only one other Speaker in our class. Well two if you count Sabrina, but I don't think mind reading counts.
Ash: "Psychic school"?
Alain: Yeah, the one in Saffron City. It was originally run by Sabrina's dad, but now she runs it as well as running the gym. I'm surprised you haven't heard about it. Did your parents teach you at home or something?
Ash: *shakes head* No, I've only had this ability for a few months. My mom doesn't even know about it.
Alain: You didn't come into your ability until a few months ago? I was born with it, and so was my friend Mairin.
Ash: I got it through an electrical shock.
Ash didn't exactly want to tell a total stranger the full story, though Luna looked concerned and Jiraiya put a hand on his shoulder. Both could sense that something bad had happened to Ash that he wasn't talking about.
Alain: Huh. That's strange. I've never heard that happening before. You should go to the Psychic School. They'll be to tell you what's going on. I would, but it probably involves a lot of scientific jargon and science was my nap class.
Ash: Thanks, I will." Ash said
The restaurant door opened as a female voice called out. Though to Ash, it was vaguely familiar.
?: Alain? Moe?
Alain: We're in here, babe.!
As the girl walked in, Ash, Misty and Brock gasped. It was Misty's older sister, Lily while a green and black jackal-like Pokémon stood shyly behind her, carrying a few shopping bags. Lily gave Alain's credit card back to him and gave him a quick kiss.
Misty: *harshly* What are you doing here?
Ash moved to sit next to her, looking warily at Lily, as did Cobalt and Green, whilst Aidan and Azula just looked confused.
Lily: *subdued* Hi, baby sister. Alain and I were about to head off on our journey, but Moe called and needed help, so I came here with I talk to you? Alone?
Misty looked conflicted, but nodded, picking up Loki and following Lily to the other side of the room. Ash kept an eye on them, just to make sure Lily didn't insult Misty. However, this gave him and his Pokemon the chance to actually look at the newly seen jackal Pokemon, looking in surprise.
Ash: Cobalt… That's a-
Cobalt: I know. It's another Lucario.
The Lucario approached Cobalt, the voice indiciating this one as a female.
Lucario: Another Lucario in Kanto, ay? Small world.
Cobalt: I uh, I guess. *holds hand out* I'm Cobalt.
Lucario: *shakes hand* I'm Lucy. Pleasure to meet you.
After Misty and Lily came back, the girl confessed Lily only wanted to apologize, seeing that all the teasing she had done in the past was wrong and was on a journey to find her true calling. Afterwards, Lily helped them to create posters for the restaurant, whereas Brock went to print out some fliers and hand them out. Alain introduced the rest of the gang to Lucy, whose egg Alain had won in a competition in Sinnoh.
Misty: So Lily, Alain told us you were a photographer at the contest tomorrow.
Lily: *nods* Taking photos has always been a hobby of mine. I never told you, Daisy, or Violet, but I've been wanting to do it professionally for a while.
Alain: She's great at it.
Misty: I'm entering the beauty contest.
Misty simply blurted it out then she looked worried, half expecting Lily to insult her. But Lily smiled.
Lily: That's great, sis. But if you want to win first place, you need a makeover.
Misty: *denfensive* Misty's just fine the way she is.
Lily smirked and mouthed "Told you." to Misty before turning to Ash.
Lily: Easy, boy. I meant that she needs her hair done, she needs a manicure, facial…and when's the last time you had a pedicure, sis?
Misty: Aww Lily, you know I hate having my feet touched. *to Ash* Actually for a beauty contest, Lily's right.
Lily: Yay! C'mon, little sister; I'll do your hair, your nails…We'll have a regular girl's night! Let's go!
She grabbed Misty's arm and dragged her out the door, Lucy shaking her head as she ran after them. Alain shook his head as he did the finishing touches on the last poster.
Alain: I have the strange feeling I'm going to be kicked out of our room tonight…. Mind if I crash with you guys?
Ash: That's fine.
Brock suddenly burst in, looking excited.
Brock: Guys, you will not BELIEVE what just happened!
Green: I swear, if it's more cruise tickets, I'll punch him.
Brock: When I was walking to the print shop, I found out that the announcer to the beauty contest had come down with the flu. I asked if I could help, and they gave ME the job! I get to announce all the contestants and have a front row seat to watch all the beautiful girls! Someone pinch me; I must be dreaming! AAAAHHHH!
The teen screamed in pain as it was revealed Croagunk had popped out behind him, using Poison Jab on Brock right in the lower back, which caused him to fall down and twitch in pain..
Brock: *strained* I said pinch…. Not jab…..
Alain: Does he always act like this?
Ash: You have no idea.

The next morning, Alain, Ash, Brock, and Lily met up again.
Ash: Where's Misty?
Lily: Hanging up posters and you can't see her until the contest. Don't want to ruin the surprise. You're gonna LOVE what I did!
The group filled some bags with fliers and attached them to Yami, Psi, and Clark, Alain's Unfezant. The two flying Pokémon spread the fliers all over the beach while Psi teleported all over the beach, dropping fliers into people's hands., Soon enough, Moe's restaurant was packed with people.
Later on, a massive group of people gathered at the beach, where a massive catwalk is set up while Brock sits at a judge's table with Lily and another judge.
Brock: Ladies and gentleman, we're happy to announce that the annual Porta Vista Beach Beauty and Pokémon Costume contest is about to begin!
Ash: Wow, Brock's good at this.
Ash sar with Aiden and Ira, Alain's Charmander, on his lap, with Azula on his shoulder and Cobalt and Green sitting in the chairs next to him as his mom sat on his other side. Beside her sat Professor Oak, and then Moe.
Alain: Keep your eyes on the stage; Lily said Misty was up first.
Alain told him Ash, gently stroking Jiraiya's head as he sat next to . The teenager was sitting next to Cobalt and Green, Luna beside him.
Aiden tried standing on his toes from Ash's lap, only for his view to be blocked by the crowd. However, this was remedied as Green allowed Aiden onto his shoulders.
Aiden: Thanks. Hey, why is everyone around us laughing?
Brock: Now, here's our first contestant!
Ash's attention snapped from his goofy Pokémon to the stage as the curtain opened. His eyes nearly popped out of his head at the sight. Misty walked onto the stage, waving. She was in her pink bikini and her hair was down and styled, coming to her shoulders. Ash thought she looked beautiful, he became so enraptured that he didn't glitch as Alain waved his hand in his face.
Alain: Hey, Ash, you in there?"
Ash: Sure, Brock…
Alain and Ash's Pokémon burst out laughing. Apparently Lily had done a good job.
Cobalt: Yeah, he's gone.
Delia: Aww, my little boy has his first crush!" Delia cooed
Ash snapped out of it, embarrassingly calling his mother out, which monly made Alain and Ash's Pokémon laugh harder.
Brock: This is Misty, the lovely and talented Water Pokémon trainer who is sure making a big splash here today! Now let's look at the costume she and her Pokémon have created!
Loki, wearing an alien helmet, floated down on top of Starmie, who was hovering with its gem side down.
Brock: Well, this is a very imaginative costume! It's Starmie and Squirtle as extraterristrials in their flying saucer!
Starmie and Loki flew around Misty, and then Loki shot out a small spout of water, making the audience go wild.
Brock: And next we have two Pokémon calling themselves the Rocket Boosters, dressed as a legendary Pokémon.
Ash: *face palms* Please tell me they're not…
But they were. Koffing floated onto the stage with a big clump of green grass over its face, Ekans coiled around its head in a spiral.
Brock: This is a…very interesting costume. I believe it's supposed to be Omastar, and the Pokémon are Ekans and Koffing.
Suddenly a foot kicked them out of the way as a familiar voice called out, making Ash stiffen up.
?: Get lost!
It was Gary Oak, his fan club of six beautiful girls behind him.
Ekans: Dick! You know what, screw this!
Koffing: Yeah, let's get outta here and go to that Moe's place. *Ekans and Koffing leave*
Green: Wow, this guy just raidates douche energy. *to Ash* Tell me, who is this guy and why should I care?
Ash: It's Gary.
At the confirmation of the aforementioned Gary, Cobalt growled feral while Green started hissing, leaving a confused Aiden and a nervous Azula.
Azula: Who's Gary?
Cobalt: A complete jerk.
Gary noticed Ash sitting in the third row and smirked as Brock announced his presence, his heart filling with worry for Ash.
Brock: And now we have a surprise appearance by Gary Oak, an up and coming Pokémon trainer, accompanied by a squad of his adoring and adorable fans.
Prof. Oak: *sheepish* I forgot to mention that my grandson came along with us.
Green: *sarcastic* Oh, did ya?!
Gary: Ash, I know you're out there in the crowd somewhere! But I didn't come here to make you jealous of me, Ash. I came here so that my adorable fan club members could make you jealous of me!
Cheerleaders: Gary, Gary, he's our man! He'll trash Ash, we know he can!
Gary: Thank you, fans! Great cheer! *smirks* I wrote that one myself, Ashy!
Alain: He's probably overcompensating for something.
Cobalt sputtered as he tried not to laugh, though Alain got smacked upside the head by Luna.
Luna: Do not talk like that in front of a ten year old!
Alain: Sorry! What I meant to say is just ignore him. He's just a big jerk.
Green looked at Ash, seeing his trainer withdraw further into himself with each hurtful word Gary said.
Green: That's it! I'm gonna kill that jerk! No one insults my trainer!
Cobalt: Green, you're not killing a trainer…. *gets up* Until I get the first shot.
Both of them growled, starting to get up off their chairs and ready to go onstage and pummel Gary. Aiden hopped off Green's shoulders to go with them, and the normally gentle Aidan let out a ferocious snarl that made the people in the row in front of him look back nervously.
Brock: Mr. Oak, it is against the rules to slander someone on the contest stage!
But Gary just ignored him. Ash grabbed Aiden and handed him and Azula to his mom, then wrapped his arms around Cobalt and Green, who were trying to go beat up Gary.
Ash: Guys, please calm down! Don't attack him; it's not worth it!
Green: He insulted you!
Cobalt: And wrote that crap about you back at Mt. Moon! He can't get away with this!
Ash: Guys…please. It's okay.
Cobalt looked at Ash's begging eyes, stopping as Green softened up and nodded, about to go back to his seat. Unfortunately, their screeching and wriggling had drawn Gary's attention, and he just HAD to open his big mouth.
Gary: And there's Ashy boy right there. Looks like his own Pokémon don't want to be around him either!
Ash flinched. As always, Gary had hit him where it hurt the worst. His grip loosened on Cobalt and Green, and they broke free. Cobalt growled as he pulled up his arm fur to resemble rolling up shirt sleeves as Aiden began to follow, only for Green to hold up a hand to stop them.
Green: I've got this. You guys stay here with Ash.
They frowned but nodded, and Green walked off onto the stage.
Ash: Green, don't!
Ash cried in horror as he ran after him. What if he beat up Gary? The Pokémon League might take Green away from him if they thought she was too aggressive! He couldn't let that happen! Luna gently grabbed his arm, stopping him.
Luna: Don't worry. He's not going to beat him up.
She patted Ash's hand, sending some calming emotions to get him to relax a little. Ash watched worriedly as Green jumped up on the stage and growled. Some people in the audience gasped, seeing that the Grovyle was clearly angry. Green casually approached Gary….then promptly pulled his pants down to his ankles, leaving a stunned Gary with his superhero boxers clearly revealed to the world. Then he grinned triumphantly and hopped off the stage, where Cobalt then got in on the action, pulling the boy's shirt over his head and restraining his arms. As Gary stumbled about, Azula frowned and shot a Water Gun at Gary, completely soaking him.
As soon as Gary got his dripping shirt off, Cobalt smirked at him and pointed to a billboard, where it's shown Psi had been released and used their Psychock to write on a billboard. The writing read, "Ash is the best! Gary is a spoiled little loser! 💜, Ash's Team". There was also a doodle of a drooling Gary saying "I'm stoopid!".
There was stunned silence in the audience for about ten seconds, then thousands of people burst out laughing. The ones in the end of the rows reached out to pat Cobalt on the back as he came down.
Person: Nice boxers!
Alain: *laughing* You deserved that!
Professor Oak had his head in his hands, and Delia looked stunned. Ash was simply standing there in the middle of the aisle, his mouth wide open. Gary glared at Ash, then pulled up his pants, grabbed his shirt, and fled the stage, his fan club behind him.
Psi: *teleports back* Close your mouth before microbugs fly in.
Cobalt smiled, thanking Psi before taking their ball and sucking them back in, putting the ball back on Ash;s belt as he led him back to his seat.
Ash: What the…How'd you…Why'd you…?
Green: Are you going to be finishing any of those sentences? You're talking to a person who's friends with a Gengar who has a knack for pulling pranks. Pantsing is one of Yami's favorites to do while he was traveling from his home, especially when it comes to human bullies that would bother kind trainers. And as for why I did it, he was insulting you and deserved some kind of payback. You told me not to beat him up, so we decided to embarrass him instead.
Cobalt: And Psi scribbling on the billboard? My idea. And by the way, you ARE worth it.
Ash's lip wavered as he hugged his two starters close, who smiled and hugged him back. It was the first time anyone had stood up for him when Gary had taunted him. It was the first time Ash hadn't been alone…
Brock: Well, after that…rather weird…series of events, Gary has now disqualified himself from the competition. Our next contestant is…
But Brock's voice was cut off by a huge rumbling coming from the ocean. Everyone screamed as what looked like a gigantic Gyarados came out of the water. Judy pulled Ash behind her and took a defensive stance. Ash knew instantly that it wasn't a real Gyarados, but what looked like a Gyarados shaped submarine. But still definitely dangerous, as it was running towards a group of screaming people, Lily being one of them.
Seeing this, Alain and Luna nodded to each other as Alain tapped on his bracelet, the stone on it glowing as a stone appeared in front of the Gardevoir.
Alain: Luna! Mega Evolve!
Suddenly, Luna yelled out as she began to glow, just as the stone floated into her body and merged with her. In a bright cascade of light, Luna was now taller with the pink shard in her chest splitting in the front and her dress now poofier and longer. Cobalt and Ash looked upon this in shock and surprise, Cobalt enraptured by Luna's beauty.
Alain: Luna, hold it back with Psychic!
Ash: Go, Yami!
The "Mega Evolved" Gardevoir held it back as everyone ran clear, but she was struggling to keep the several ton submarine still as the Gengar was let out of his ball.
Ash: Use Shadow Ball on that submarine! Hit it inside the mouth! Cobalt, Green, help him with Aura Sphere and Energy Ball!
Yami brought his hands together as a small black bolt spark, throwing his hands out to launch a shaodwy ord. The Shadow Ball, combined with Cobalt's Aura Sphere and Green's Energy Ball, hit the engine, causing it to explode. A shockwave went through the sub, blasting off Team Rocket as they were trying to escape through the safety hatch.
Team Rocket: Team Rocket's blasting off again!
Wobbuffet: That's right!
Ash: Phew. That was close.
Everyone cheered, running over and thanking the group as Luna was brought into another flash, turning back to normal. Misty and Brock ran off the stage and up to Ash as Lily and Alain's Lucario ran into Alain's arms.
Misty: Good thinking, both of you.
However, Azula noticed Brutella hiding behind the stands, glowering. Gaining an idea, she turned invisible, grabbed the microphone off the stage, remembering that the humans used it to amplify their voices, and sneaked over to her.
Brutella: Those complete fools! I should have known better than to hire those Team Rocket agents especially after how idiotic they acted! Apparently if I want Moe's destroyed right, I need to do it myself!
Suddenly, people nearby began glaring at her, and two police officers started walking over. Brutella looked across from her and saw a now visible Sobble standing in the seats above her, holding a microphone in its mouth. Angrily, she grabbed for Azula, but she easily dodged her and ran off, jumping into Ash's arms as the police officers grabbed her, cuffing her.
Officer: You're under arrest. *as they lead her away* You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can be held against you in a court of law.
Ash: Nice going, Azula!
Alain: Yeah, thanks Azula. Now that b…
Luna smacked him upside the head.
Alain: Now that Brutella gets what she deserves.
Moe: And my restaurant is saved! Thank you all so much!
Judge: The beauty contest is starting back up again. We need you two over here.
Lily: See you guys after the contest. C'mon, little sister, I think they'll want you back there too.
Ash and Alain waved goodbye to them and headed back to their seats just as Delia came running up and hugged Ash tightly.
Delia: You nearly frightened the life out of me, young man! But I'm very proud of you.
Ash: Thanks, mom. And sorry, Mom.
They all walked back to their seats and waited for the contest to start again. The contest went on for over an hour and Ash was bored. Incredibly bored. Apparently so were his Pokémon, because Aidan and Green were asleep, and Cobalt had gone over to talk to Lucy, who was standing with Lily a few feet away. Azula seemed entertained, though.
Cobalt: Okay, so can we just talk about how you GLOWED?! And EVOLVED AGAIN?! Seriously! What was that?!
Luna: That would be Mega Evolution; the subject Alain had been studying all this time. It's a state where a Pokemon temporarily gains a newly evolved and more powerful form.
Lucy: If a Trainer holds a Key Stone like Alain does with his Mega Bracelet and a Pokemon holds a corresponding Mega Stone, like Gardevoirite for Luna, the Pokemon Mega Evolves. Not only that, the trainer and Pokemon have to have a strong bond in order for it to hold… You know, if it helps, Lucario is a Pokemon that Mega Evolves.
Just as Cobalt was about to freak out, Brock spoke agan, getting their attention.
Brock: The judges have made their decision.
As Brock announced the winners, the crowd cheered, waking Green and Aidan up. Brock announced the winners of each category, then finally came to Misty's. Ash held his breath.
Brock: And the winner of Most Imaginative Pokémon Costume are Misty Waterflower, Starmie, and Squirtle!
Ash: Yes! Great job, Misty!
Her eyes met his and she smiled at him as the judge put the tiara on her head and handed her her check.
Lily: Good job, little sister!
Misty ran down and the group hugged her and patted her on the back. Someone handed a piece of paper to Brock. He looked at it in surprise and read it.
Brock: Will Alain Flazer and Ash Ketchum, as well as their Pokémon, come onto the stage, please?
Alain and Ash looked at each other in confusion. Then Alain shrugged and headed towards the stage, motioning for Ash to follow. Their Pokémon quickly followed behind them. Once they were on the stage, a black-haired man walked up to them.
Man: As mayor of Porta Vista, I would like to thank you for protecting our town. I hereby present to you these trophies for your courage and quick thinking.
He handed them each a large trophy and the crowd cheered. Alain looked surprised, but accepted the trophy with a thank you. Ash blushed and shuffled, nervous about all the people staring at him. Cobalt gently squeezed his hand to reassure him. With a nervous thank you to the mayor, Ash took his trophy and left the stage as soon as he politely could.
Lily: Congratulations, Alain. *kisses his cheek*
Delia: *hugs Ash* I'm so proud of my little man!
Ash blushed and his Pokémon tried to hide their laughter as she took the trophy from Ash.
Delai: Can I keep this?
A little embarrassed, Ash nodded.
Prof. Oak: Good job, both of you. You both showed great skill out there, and quick thinking in a crisis.
Delia: Well, we'd better get going. Our boat leaves soon and we don't want to be late. *eyes widen* Oh, Ash, I have something for you.
Delia reached into her purse and took out a small red and black device with a video screen and a wrist strap.
Ash: What's this?
Delia: It's an Xtranciever. It's from Unova and it works similar to the Poké Gear, but it's much more advanced. It does video calls, so you can call me and Professor Oak anytime you want to. And it even comes with a camera. Oh, and here's the instruction manual that goes with it.
Ash: Oh wow! Thanks, Mom!
Delia: You're welcome, sweetie. Don't forget to call and take lots of pictures so I can see all your adventures.
Ash mentally winced, knowing his mom would freak if she found out about his last adventure…. Professor Oak and Delia said goodbye and left, though Delia still gave Ash an embarrassing reminder to change his you-know-what's. Moe invited the gang back to Moe's for a celebration dinner, telling them anything they wanted was on the house.

The next day, Moe once again sailed on his boat, with Ash, Alain, and the others waving at him. The old man had decided to fulfill his dream of going on a cruise around the world.
Alain: I can't thank you guys enough. You really saved the day, and my uncle's dream.
Ash: We're glad we could help.
Alain: I'd like to give you some things as a thank you.
Alain then pulled what looked like a few Cds out of his backpack.
Alain: Do you guys have a TM machine?
They shook their heads and Alain took one out of his backpack.
Alain: Here you go.
Misty: You don't have to give us your-
Alain: It's fine. I don't really use it anymore anyway. *hands Ash TM* Here, this one is Thunderbolt. It's for your Kadabra. Actually, I think your Gengar can learn it too.
Ash: Psi can learn an Electric type move? How?
Alain: No clue. I just found it out while messing around with my Pokédex in the Pokémon Center. It was so weird, I guess I just never forgot it. Just let me double check… *checks Pokedex* Okay, search moves Kadabra can learn by TM or move tutoring…yep, it's there.
Ash: The Pokédex can give you a list of moves your Pokémon can learn?
Alain: Yeah, just say "Search," than whatever you're searching for. Or use the touch screen and hit 'search' then type in what you need.
Ash did what Alain showed him.
Ash: Who do you think I should use the TM on, Psi or Yami?
Cobalt: Maybe Psi would be best. Thunderbolt will help them be a lot more useful in battle and if we have to deal with those Team Rocket morons or some sort of other danger like we seem to run into on a weekly basis.
Alain: Cobalt has a good point. Also, I want you to have these…
Alain took out a briefcase from his backpack and opened it, revealing a black gloves with the same gem as Alain's bracelet and two glass balls like the one Aiden found; one being dark yellow with a red and blue swirl and the other being light green with a dark green and orange swirl.
Ash: What are these?
Alain: This is a Mega Glove with a Key Stone and these stones are Mega Stones; Lucarionite and Sceptilite. Once Green evolves, you can have them hold these and have them Mega Evolve.
Green: No way, I can do that cool thing Luna did too!? Awesome!
Ash nodded, slipping on the glove and putting the two stones in his bag, but then realized Lily was standing there, looking completely unsurprised that Alain had responded to what Green had said.
Ash: Um, does she know about your…um, gift?
Alain: Yes. We've been friends since kidnergarden before I moved to Kalos and she found out pretty quickly. Can't hide much from that girl. *to Lily* Ash has the same gift as me.
Lily: *sighs* That's a relief. Plus, Alain is the world's worst liar.
Misty: Sounds like someone else I know.
Lily: Sounds like we attract the same type of boys, little sis.
Both Ash and Misty turned red, and Alain laughed. Ash spouted something else, hoping to change the subject.
Ash: How do you use the TM machine?
Alain: Okay, just load the TM in this slot and touch this end to Psi's Pokeball, then press the button.
Ash put the Thunderbolt TM in the machine, then something occurred to him.
Ash: This won't hurt Psi, will it?
Luna: No, it won't. Alain taught me Grass Knot through a TM. Think of it as like an instructional DVD for Pokémon. It just shows us exactly how to perform the move.
Reassured, Ash touched the TM machine to Psi's ball and pressed the button. The disk whirred and some sparks came from the machine. After a minute, the disk stopped whirring.
Ash: Did it work?
Alain: It should. Best to test it when you get the chance.
Alain turned to Misty, taking out another TM.
Alain: Here, it's Scald. This move is very good and I think your Squirtle can learn it.
Misty thanked him and used the TM on Loki as Alain then looked at Brock.
Alain: Umm, I'd like to give you one too, but I'm not sure what type of Pokémon you have.
Brock: An Onix, Geodude, Zubat, Bulbasaur, and Croagunk, but you really don't…
Brock started, but Alain had started digging through his backpack.
Alain: Here. It's Bulldoze. It will be perfect for your Onix.
Brock: *takes TM* Thank you.
Lily: It's getting dark. We'd better start getting ready to go.
Alain: Okay, I'll get the car.
Misty: Car?
Lily: You didn't expect me to hike and sleep in the woods with all the dirt and bugs, did you, little sister?
Misty: I guess not.
She HAD been pretty surprised when Daisy and Violet told her Lily was going on a journey of her own. Lily was NOT the outdoorsy type. Several minutes later, Alain pulled up in his car, a used blue convertible. Lily hopped in the front with Ira in her lap and Lucy, Jiraiya and Luna in the back.
Alain: Bye!
Lily: *drives* It was great seeing you guys!
Ash: It was really nice meeting you!
Misty: He was pretty cool. Looks like you have another friendly rival, Ash.
The group headed back to the hotel, not knowing their next big adventure was only a few days away. Though as they walked, Ash looked at his newly acquired Mega GLove, smirking with determination. Things just got a bit more interesting…..
