The next day, Ash had told Gary about what had happened on that day. The biy was obviously shocked, yet terrified of what the kid he used to taunt had to go through, but it took a lot of convincing for Gary to not tell Daisy or his grandfather; either for his ability or to worry them. After Gary promised not to tell them, both he and Gary wne their separate ays to bed and now, jere Ash was.
As of now, he was in the quarterfinals of the Indigo Conference, going against his old friend, Alain. The stadium was packed with multiple spectators, yelling and cheering loudly as the two competitors eventually made it out.
Announcer: We've seen many battles in this year's Pokemon League, but now, It's time to see what really spices up as we enter the quarterfinals! And now, we meet the two trainers who fought tooth and nal to make it this far!
One one end, Ash, Cobalt, and Green walked out, gaining multiple cheers and applause from the adience. If Ash looked up, he could spot his parents, Professor Oak, Daisy (O), Misty, Brock, Wes, Goh, Gary, Arthur, Ivena, and the rest of his Pokemon cheering for him.
Announcer: In the green corner, we have Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town!
While in the other corner, Alain makes his way out with Luna by his side. He looked up, smiling to see Daisy, Lucy, and Moe cheering for him.
Announcer: And in the red corner, we have his opponent; Alain Flazer from Kalos's Lumiose City!
Misty: You got this, Ash!
Red: Let's go, son!
Daisy: Take em, babe!
Mow: Go, Alain!
The two approached the field as they entered their respective saces as the referee approached with his two flags.
Announcer: And here comes the referee to dictate the match! Who will win, well let's find out!
Referee: This will be a 6-on-6 battle! Both trainers are allowed to substitute at any time, but no items allowed! Also, due to certain discoveries, only one Mega Evolution will be allowed per match! Will both sides let out their first Pokemon!
Ash: 'Okay….. Your league career depends on this battle…. You got this….' *points forward* Green, I choose you!
Alain: Hmm…. Alright. *throws Pokeball* Sauros, go!
Alain's Pokeball opened to reveal a large dinosaur like Pokemon with orange scales resembling rocks, a silver underbelly, along with a white beard and a sort of mane sticking from around its neck, that came with a crown like crest on its head. It let out a huge roar, which made Gren stumble as Ash got out his Pokedex.
Ash: Who's that Pokemon?
Pokedex: Tyrantrum, the Despot Pokémon. A Rock and Dragon type. Completefossil restoration is impossible, allowing room for theories that its entire body was once covered in a feather-like coat. A single bite of Tyrantrum's massive jaws can demolish a car.
Cobalt: Woah, a fossil mon… Think Green can handle it?
Ash: I don't think, Cobalt. I KNOW.
Referee: Let the match begin!
Alain: Sauros, use Psychic Fangs!
Sauros rushed forward with his jaw widening as it glowed pink with psionic energy, Green looking for a means to counter.
Ash: Use Leaf Storm on yourself!
Luna: On himself?
Green obeyed as he twirled, the Leaf Storm encompassing him just as Sauros took a bite…. Only to spit as he got a mouthful of leaves. Alain looked around, only to gasp as he spotted Green right behind the dinosaur's head.
Alain: Sauros, look out!
Ash: Now Dragon Pulse!
The Sceptile unleashed a pinkish-purple dragon-shaped laser before jumping back, inflicting the Tyrantrum with massive damage.
Goh: I get it now. Ash used Leaf Storm as an evasive manuever since that Tyrantrum would have trouble seeing through the flurry of leaves.
Gary: And then Green managed to get a direct hit with Dragon Pulse, which is super effective. Typical Ash.
Alain: Use Iron Head!
Ash: Green, Leaf Blade!
As the Tyrantrum charged forth iwth a metallic head crest, Green countered with his arm blades. However, the force from Sauros was too great, causing him to be sent back.
Ash: Green, no!
Alain: Now, Dragon Pulse!
Ash: Dodge it!
Green jumped away from the incoming laser, running around the stadium, but the pulse just seemed to follow his everymove. Seeing this, Ash gets an idea.
Ash: Green, get in between its legs!
Alain: What?
Green: You are aware there are children watching-
Ash: Just do it!
Rolling his eyes, Green slid in between Sauros's legs. This not onlylet him avoid the attack, but struck Sauros back in the mouth, causing him to walk back and almost lose balance.
Alain: Oh no!
Ash: Now, use Leaf Storm!
Green unleashed a flurry of leaves on the Tyrantrum's back, causing him to then tip forward and loe balance, falling forward with a loud thud. With this out of the way, Sauros was seen unconscious, growling dazidly.
Referee: Tyrantrum is unable to battle, the winner is Sceptile!
Announcer: And Ketchum takes the lead with his first win, and an impressive one without a doubt!
Red: Way to go, son!
Delia: I knew you could do it, sweetie!
Arthur: Atta boy, Green!
Meanwhile though, Wes was seen buying a cup of coffee from Jessie with a food tray.
Wes: If he keeps this up, he'll be in the semifinals in no time! *sips coffee* Mmm, good coffee.
Jessie: You like? It's French Vanilla.
Green hopped back to his trainer and brother, giving them high-fives as Alain recalled his Tyrantrum.
Ash: Way to go, Green!
Cobalt: You got us one win out of the box!
Green: Well, I have my awesome trainer to thank for that.
Ash: *chuckes* Alright, alright. How about you rest for a little while? We can handle it.
Green nodded as both trainers reached for their next Pokeball.
Alain: I've been waiting for this for a long time, Luna. Time to see Ash's skills in battle… *throws Pokeball* Gale, you're up!
Ash: *throws Pokeball* Hunter, I choose you!
Ash's Lycanroc came onto the field while Alain released a Pudgeot, the sight of the wolf making a good number of fans ecstatic.
Ash: And it's the return of Ash's Lycanroc, who has quickly become a fan favorite after her debut battle against AJ! But can she revive those strategies once more?
Ash: Accelerock!
Alain: Use Aerial Ace!
Both Pokemon rushed at each other and struck, though both tumbled a bit before Hunter managed to get on her feet, her eyes turning red as the Pidgot perched on the ground.
Ash: Hunter, use Stone Edge!
Hunter's neck shards glowed before spawning several smaller rocks, which launched at the Bird Pokemon before…
Alain: Use Gust, Gale!
Gale then flapped their wings, sending the rocks right bak at Hunter as Ash realized what Alain was trying to do. He was trying to do a redirect like he had done before.
Ash: Hunter, dodge!
Alain: While it's dodging, use Brave Bird!
Suddenly, Gale surrounded themself with ared aura before zooming right for the wolf. As soon as Hunter started dodging, the aira around the Pidgeot turned blue before it slammed its wing into her, the attack fizzling out the aura and causing Gale recoil damage.
Ash: Show off that move from your training, Hunter! Use Crunch!
Hunter's fangs glowed a bit before she sunk them into Glae's wing, making the bird cry in pain.
Hunter: Just letting you know, you DO NOT taste like chicken!
Alain: Try and shake it off with Gust!
The Pidgeot then beat their wings, eventually knocking Hunter off and making her fall.
Ash: Oh no!
Alain: Now, SKy Attack!
Gale then pauses, glowing with an orange and gold sparkling aura surrounding their body as Hunter kept her descent.
Ash: Hunter, use Rock Climb!
In a despreate attempt, Hunter howled as her claws grew, which caused a mountain to spawn out of the ground and allow her to land on the side of it, her claws sinking into the rock.
Ash: Are you okay?
Hunter: Just fine, Ash! I got this!
Ash: *nods* Okay then.
Alain: Unleash it now!
Ash: Combine Rock Climb and Accelerock, use Stone Dash!
The Pidgeot then flew towards Hunter at top speed as Hunter glowed as she ran at them, causing the two attacks to connect and cause an explosion that destroyed the mountain. As the smoke clearned, both Hunter and Gale fell to the ground, both of them out.
Referee: Both Lycanroc and Pidgeot are unable to battle, this match is a draw!
Both Ash and Alain recalled their Pokemon as the mountain Hunter made sank back into the ground. As Alain was about to grab another Pokeball, he felt another one of them begin to rock. Chuckling, he brought it out.
Alain: You want to battle, do you?
The ball rocked again, much to Alain's amusement.
Luna: He hasn't been out in a long time, Alain.
Alain: I know. Which is why I'm letting him out now. *throws Pokeball* Go, Jeriyah!
Alain's Greninja emerged from the ball, bowing as he landed before adopting a battle pose.
Ash: Jeriyah, so…. A Water and Dark type….. Green, are you good?
Green nodded at his trainer, who nodded and pointed out.
Ash: Then let's go!
Announcer: And Ash's Sceptile rejoins the match! Can he pull an easy in like before?
Alain: Jeriyah, use Water Shuriken!
Brock: "Water Shuriken"?
Gary: Can't say I heard of that move before.
Suddenly, the frog ninja tapped his hips, spawning two orbs of water which he then threw, the two orbs forming into throwing stars of water that hit Gren head on.
Green: *shaky chuckling* Thank you sir, would you like another?
Jeriyah: Wait, don't you mean, "may I have another?"
Green: With pleasure!
Jeriyah: Wait, no-
Ash: Use Leaf Blade!
Green leapt forward, slicing the Greninja with his arm balde and dealing supereffective damage.
Alain: Jeriyah, get back in there and use Night Slash!
The amphibious Pokemon then creates a sword of black and purple energy inbetween his hands before slashing Green, who counters with Leaf Blade. However, one wrong swipe managed to allow Green to take a hit.
Ash: Oh no!
Alain: Now, Jeriyah, Aerial Ace!
Cobalt: Aerial Ace?!
The frog's arms glow light-blue as he jumps forward, hitting Green with them and inflicting supereffective damage, which unfortunately was enough to knock him out of the match.
Referee: Sceptile is unable to battle, the winner is Greninja!
Alain: Good work, Jeriyah, now come back for a little bit.
Cobalt ran forward, helping support Green as he walked him back to the platform and helped him down.
Green: *groans* Sorry, guys… I really blew it.
Ash: It's okay, Green, you did your best. Now get some rest… *to Alain* Alain, just letting you know, you were pretty great out there! But just so you know, I don't intend to lose!
Alain: I can say the same for you, Ash. Now… *throws Pokeball* Now, Blade! Come on out!
Alain's next Pokemon was a red and grey humanoid covered in blades with a large gold blade on its head and sword blades on its elbows. Once again confused, Ash scanned the Pokemon.
Pokedex: Bisharp, the Sword Blade Pokémon. A Dark and Steel type. Bisharp is accompanied by a large retinue of its pre-evolution, Pawniard. It keeps a keen eye on its minions, ensuring none of them even think of double-crossing it.
Cobalt: Dark and Steel?... You thinking what I'm thinking?
Ash: Gotcha… Okay, Cobalt, let's do it!
Cobalt jumped into the fray, cracking his knuckles as he stepped forth.
Wes: This'll be a piece of cake. Bisharp's extra weak to Fighting-type moves.
Misty: But something tells me Alain chose this guy for a reason.
Luna: That Lucario seems to be a tough opponent. Be very careful, Alain.
Alain: Trust me, Luna. I will.
Luna: You know, whenever you say that, it lowers my trust in you.
Ash: Use Force Palm!
Alain: Use Metal Claw!
Blade charged forth with one of their sword arms deployed as Cobalt tried to hit them with his palm, only to be met with a stalemate.
Alain: Now Blade, Focus Blast!
Ash: Dodge, then use Aura Sphere!
The Bisharp let out a large light-blue energy sphere, which Cobalt easily managed to evade while throwing an Aura Sphere at them, causing major damage.
Alain: 'We need to end this now, Blade can't take another hit like that.' Use Guillotine!
The blades on the Bisharp's elbows glow and turn light blue as it then charged forth. Cobalt let out a small high-pitched scream as he jumped out of the way, which caused both Cobalt and Ash to sigh in relief..
Luna: Impressive.
Ash: That was close.
Green: Why, what's the big deal? Normal-type moves like Guilloutine aren't really good against Cobalt.
Ash: Green, Guillotine's a special case. If that move lands, no matter the Pokemon… It automatically knocks them out.
Green automatically gained a horrified expression as he wtahced the ensuing battle.
Ash: Now Cobalt, use Aura Bullet!
Alain: Blade, Guilloutine!
Cobalt formed an Aura Sphere and charged it as Blade charged forth once more. While they were runnong towards Cobalt, the Lucario smacked the Aura Sphere with a Force Palm, striking Blade directly. Just as Blade got close enough, the Bisharp tripped, having fainted.
Referee: Bisharp is unable to battle, the winner is Lucario!
Luna: I see…. Ash exploited Blade's need to get close for Guillotine, so that way Cobalt can strike him with a critical hit.
Alain: *recalls Blade* Thank you, Blade. Now get some rest… Luna. Let's do this!
Luna floated off of the ground and landed forward, conjuring small energy orbs in her hands as Cobalt clenched his fists.
Ash: Cobalt, return.
Surprised at this, Cobalt obeyed his trainer and came back to his side.
Ash: We might need you for Greninja, so get some rest. As for now…. *throws Pokeball* Yami, I choose you!
The Gengar then appeared on the field, chuckling as he floated above the ground whale making faces at the Gardevoir, who just rolled her eyes.
Announcer: And the stakes are high with Ash recalling his Lucario! The odds are 3-4 between the trainers with Ash in the lead, now let's see if the Pride of Pallet can take on the Mega Heir!
Alain: Use Reflect, then Shadow Ball!
Ash: Use Sludge Bomb!
Luna put up a psychic shield and launched a Shadow Ball, which collided with Yami's attack.
Ash: Use Shadow Ball!
Alain: Moonblast!
The Gardevoir fired off a moon-shaped blast as Yami launched a Shadow Ball, both attacks striking the opponent as Luna took more damage.
Alain: Use Psychic!
Luna grabbed Yami with her psychic powers, then threw him in the air.
Ash: Use Shadow Ball on the ground to catch yourself!
Yami shot the purple balls of energy at the ground, giving him enough lift to adjust and remain just above the ground. Ash gave Yami a thumbs up, their secret signal to begin to enact the plan.
Luna: What are you planning?
Yami: Wouldn't you like to know?
Ash: Now, Yami, Shadowy Sludge Bomb!
Alain: Shadowy- what?
Yami opened his mouth and brought his hands forth, infusing a giant ball of black sludge with shadowy energy at the Gardevoir, not only destroying the shield and causing a great amount of damage with the super-effective move, but also poisoning Luna. In the stands,Misty and Brock were wide-eyed in amazement as they remembered this strategy.
Misty: Brock, do you think-
Brock: Yeah! It's the same strategy Ash usd against Sabrina's Mr Mime!
Gary: Man, I really gotta ask Ash to teach me some of those combos.
Back in the battle, Luna cringed as she was hurt by poison as Yami chuckled, though still hurt by the attacks from earlier.
Alain: Shadow Ball, Luna! Hurry!
Ash: End it with Hex!
Luna launched a Shadow Ball at Yami as he released a Hex attack from his eyes. Both attakcs hit their mark, but due to Hex's effect of double damage under status conditions and it being a supereffective move, Luna fainted first.
Referee: Gardevoir is unable to battle, the winner is Gengar!
Ash: Yeah! Way to go, Yami!
Cobalt: Good job, dude!
The Gengar laughed as he looked at his victory. But suddenly, the laughter stopped as Yami simply stood in place. Luna got to her feet, only to gasp in surprise.
Luna: He's... He's out cold….
Green: What?!
Confused, the ref came onto the battlefield and like Luna had said (not that he could understand her), Yami had fainted, but he was standing up as his eyes were rolld back.
Referee: Gengar is unable to battle!
Announcer: Incredible! After managing to take down Alain's Gardevoir, Ash's Gengar is out too!
Delia: Oh my!
Goh: Woah, talk about crazy.
Prof. Oak: This sort of occurrence has never happened before…
Ash: Yami…. You're just amazing. I'll never forget what you did for us these past two rounds.
Both trainers recalled their Pokemaon, with Luna floating over and nearly collapsing into Alain's form before he then took out his next Pokemon.
Alain: Thank you, Luna. We'll win this for sure, I know it. *throws Pokeball* Jeriyah, you're up!
Out from Alain's Pokeball came forth his Greninja, carresing a cut on his arm, but still able to battle. Just as Ash was about to call out Cobalt, he remembered something. Just like when he used the same strategy like with Sabrina here, what she said the day he srrendered rang in his head.
Sabrina's Voice: "Don't rely so much on type advantage, or what you think is type advantage."
Ash: I think I know who I want next…. *throws Pokeball* Aiden, I choose you!
Out from Ash's Pokeball came forth his Chariard, letting out a proud roar much to everyone's confusion.
Announcer: And now Ash has chosen his Fire and Flying type Charizard to face off against Alain's Water and Dark type Greninja. Will type advantage win again? Let us watch?
James: *from stands* This should be interesting….
Spectator: Hey buddy, I've been waiting on my chips for 10 minutes! What's the hold-up?!
Alain: Use Double Team!
The Greninja then split into several other copies, all of them blurring out of existence.
Ash: Use Flamethrower to find the real one!
Aiden released a huge stream of fire out of his mouth on all the Greninja copies, before only one remained.
Ash: Now Air Slash!
Alain: Use Night Slash!
Jeriyah's darkness blade sliced throug the Air Slash waves, with the frog getting tired every which way as he kept slashing more and more.
Ash: 'It's working…' Time for one more combo! Combine Dragon Claw and Air Slash to create Dragon Wind!
Aiden beat his wings again, only this time waving his now green-glowing claws, which coated the Air Slash with dragonic energy. The pointed edges making them resemble dragon wings as they hit the Greninja.
Alain: Oh no, Jeriyah!
Ash: Now, use Seismic Toss!
Aiden swopped down, grabbing the frog as he then flew up and spun in the air.
Alain: Aerial Ace!
He jabbed the dragon with a light blue-glowing hand, but it wasn't enough as he spun once more and threw the frog downward, sending Jeriyah crashing into the dirt and knocking him out.
Referee: Greninja is unable to battle, the winner is Charizard!
Announcer: Astounding Despite obvious type advantages, Charizard exploited Greninja's Dark typing for the win! Now, Alain is up to his final Pokemon, let's see who it is.
Wes: Amazing!
Brock: Ash only needs one more victory and he wins!
Misty: I wonder who Alain's Pokemon is.
As he recalled Jeriyah, Alain took out one last Pokeball that held his last available teammate. His very first partner and now his last chance of victory. He had to win this in order to fufill his dream, He just had too.
Alain: *throws Pokeball* Ira, go!
Out from Alain's Pokeball came… Another Charizard. This one had shorter horns however, along with a large metal collar around its neck that held a blue marble with a black and blue helix within it.
Ash: So, Ira evolved.
Alain: Ira, this is the battle we've been waiting for… Let's go all the way!
In order to prove his point, Alain reached to the black ring around his wrist and tapped the stone, causing both it and the stone on Ira's collar to glow.
Alain: Now! Mega Evolve!
The female Charizard roared as she glowed, her body contracting and her tail flames turning blue and enveloping her form. As the flames died down, Ira now had pitch-black skin with a blue stomach, red eyes, jagged wings, and rtwo spurts of blue fire coming from her mouth.
Announcer: Alain's Charizrd has Mega Evoved and it… Honestly, it looks a lot cooler this way.
Ash: *takes out Pokedex* That's not the Mega Charixard I know.
Pokedex: Mega Charizard X, a result of Charizard being exposed to a sample of Charizardite X. A Fire and Dragon type. Its internal flame has grown so powerful due to Mega Evolution, Chariard's scales have turned black from the overwhelming heat. The blue flame on the end of its tail is a symbol of its intense lust for battle.
Cobalt: So Charizard has TWO Mega Evolutions? That doesn't seem fair.
Aiden: You're telling me! But… I can handle this, I promise.
Ash: Well…. Alright then. Aiden, use Dragon Claw!
Alain: Use Dragon Claw, as well!
Both dragons countered each other's claws, knocking them both back, though Alain could feel the pure power of Ira's claws.
Alain: Fire Blast!
Ash: Use Flamethrower!
Ira unleashed a giant blue kanji as Aiden tried to hit it back with Flamethrower, but the larger flame overwhelmed his stream and knocked him out of the air.
Ash: *worried* No no no, Aiden! Aiden, pull up!
Alain: Now, Thunder Punch!
Ira closed the gap as she struck with an electricity covered fist and barreling it into Aiden's stomach, dealing supereffective damage on the way down and knocking him out in the process.
Referee: Ash's Charizrd is unable to battle, the winner is Alain's Charizard!
Announcer: And now there were two! With Lucario in the backseat, who will Ash call upon next?!
Ash: *recalls Aiden* Thanks a lot, Aiden. You did your best. Now… *throws Pokeball* Kestrel, I choose you!
Out came Ash's Togetic, which made Gary smile at him making a comeback.
Alain: Use Hurricane!
Ash: Intercept with Fairy Wind!
Both Pokemon flapped their wings to unleash two heavy blasts of wind…. Which obviously did nothing.
Alain: Now Ira, use Fire Blast!
Ash: Use Metronome!
Kestrel wagged his hands, which only caused him to meditate and be surrounded by an ascending aura.
Ash: …What?!
Announcer: Oooh, tough break! It seems Ash's streak of successful Metronomes has been broken with Togetic using Meditate!
The kanji blast came forth, which Kestrel tried to dodge, but the edge hit his food and caused him to stumble.
Alain: Now, Thunder Punch!
Ash: Kestrel, dodge it!
However, it was too late as Kestrel was electrically punched in the stomach and sent to the ground, going unconscious as he landed on his stomach.
Announcer: Togetic is unable to battle, the winner is Charizard!
Misty: Oh no… Ash only has Cobalt now.
Goh: Which means this is his last chance….
Ash recalled his Togetic, silently thanking him as Cobalt steps up, giving him a determined smile.
Cobalt: Let's win this together!
Ash: *smiles* You read my mind!
Though as Cobalt leapt into the battlefield, Ash tapped the stone on his glove, also initiating Mega Evolution.
Ash: 'Alain… You pushed us to our limits. We're putting everything we got into this last stand, so we're not gonna lose! Count on it!' Now, Cobalt! Mega Evolve!
Cobalt's stone reacted as the Lucario was bathed in light before landing on the ground, revealing himself as Mega Lucario.
Alain: *smiles* 'So this is Ash's strongest Mega Evolved Pokemon… Thank you, Ash. I've been waiting for you to show me your true power. Now let's ascend to an even higher level of battle!'
Announcer: Now Ash's Lucario has Mega Evolved! With one last stand, we shall see who will proceed to the Indigo Conference Semi-finals!
The crowd exploded into cheers while Cobalt smiled, seeing his parents going crazy in supporting him. He won't lose, he won't let it.
Ash: Now Cobalt! Run! Then use Aura Sphere!
Cobalt took one leap before sprinting right at Ira, Aura Spheres charging in both of his hands.
Alain: Use Hurricane to blow him away!
Ira flapped her wings to unleash a hurricane, which only deterred him slightly as Cobalt threw his Aura Spheres below Ira to kick up the dirt.
Ash: Steel Beam, go!
From the dirt clouds, Cobalt jumped up, firing a silver beam at Ira that hit her right between the eyes. They both landed, both being damaged due to Cobalt taking recoil damage.
Ash: METAL CLAW!
Alain: DRAGON CLAW!
With his hand spikes extending and glowing, Cobalt let out a scream as he ran towards the Charizard, who deployed to Dragon Claws as the two clashed. With every strike, Cobalt leapt over and under, left and right as his attacks were countered. However, one wrong move sent Cobalt flying as he was slashed.
Alain: Use Thunder Punch!
Ash: Force Palm on the ground!
Cobalt slammed his paw into the ground to kick up dirt, which softened and eventually nullified Ira's electric punch.
Alain: Now Ira, Fire Blast!
Ash: Use Aura Sphere!
The two attacks collided with one another, causing a huge explosion that obscured the field. However, due to Cobalt's aura vision, he could see his opponent just fine.
Ash: Use Force Palm!
Cobalt rushed forward, slamming his fists into the Charizard over and over. The impact being so great, it caused the smoke to immediately clear just as Cobalt jumped back.
Alain: Are you alright, Ira?!
Ira: *pained* Just…. Just fine.
Alain: Ash…. This is one of the most fun battles I've ever had. But… I can't lose. I need to be the strongest!
Ash: *smiles, nods* Hmm….. Cobalt! Combine Aura Sphere and Steel Beam into one move! It's risky, but this could be our best shot, so let's make it count!
Nodding, Cobalt charged an Aura Sphere in one hand and a Steel Beam in the other before he ten collided them both together, charging them up to the maximum.

Ira's claws glowed green before she ascended and then swooped down, ready to slash. But as soon as Ira was almost about to strike.
Ash: NOW!
With a large scream, Cobalt unleashed the large blast at the incoming dragon, who had just flown through it and slashed Cobalt. Both Pokemonstood, panting and wobbling as they tried to stand. Until eventually, one fell over and reverted back to normal… It unfortunately wasn;t a dragonic body that fell.
Referee: Lucario is unable to battle, the winner is Charizard! And that means, the match goes to Alain Flazer!
Announcer: And despite winning by a hair, Alain has won the match! And now he will join the other strongest trainers in the final four!
As Ash's small cheersquad looked in surprseand empathy, Ash held a sad expression as he and Green climbed down the platform, walking over to Cobalt before leveling his head, allowing him to wake up a bit.
Cobalt: I'm….. I'm sorry, Ash….. We lost….. *ashamed* I let you down…
Ash didn't say a thing, but instead he just hugged his starter, surprisng the jackal as Ash smiled.
Ash: You'll never let me down, Cobalt. I am more proud of all of you than I can ever say.
Alain recalled Ira as he approached with Luna by his side, all the while handing Ash a Full Restore for Cobalt.
Alain: Thank you, Ash. That battle was amazing. You really showed your true power out there.
Ash smiled at the older teen, the two clasping hands as he helped Cobalt up after spraying him.
Ash: I should be thaning you. That was one of the best battles I've had so far.
He was a bit upset he lost in the Top 8, but nonetheless, Ash felt a sense of pride. He knew his Pokemon worked to the fullest to make it this far and he was proud of them. There'll be other battles, but now… It was about time he headed home for a small break.

Meanwhile, several miles out on the ocean headed towards the Vermillion port was a large cruise liner. This enormous ship was one that went all over the world. It went to Kalos, Unova, Sinnoh, Hoenn, Johto, you name it. It had even made a stop in the Orange Islands, a small archipelago that was part of the Kanto region. It had picked up many people from all over the world, but nine people planned to finish their extensive trip at Pallet Town.
But the one in particular we'll be focusing on is the familiar hiney-blonde Kantonian girl and her yellow fox Pokemon that was standing on the deck of the ship as they looked at the incoming region, the girl holding a picture that had the image of her and a small familiar-looking black-haired boy.
Loudspeaker: Attention passengers, this is your captain speaking! We will be arriving at the Vermillion City port by tomorrow morning! I repeat, we will be arriving at the Vermillion City port by tomorrow morning!
Serena smiled at the news, petting the fox in her arms as she looked at the region and put away the photo.
Serena: Hear that, Kyubi?... We're almost there.
