On the steps of the US Capitol Building, people gather to watch Jefferson Peralez take the Oath of Office.
"Please, Mr Peralez if you will, repeat after me." Stated Supreme Court Justice Eric McKinley "'I, do solemnly swear."
"I, Jefferson Peralez, do solemnly swear." Places one hand on the Bible and another on his heart as he swears the oath of office.
"That I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States of America."
"That I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States of America."
"And will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America."
"And will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. So help me God."
Then they both turn to face the crowd. "I give to you the 44th President of the United States of America!" The Justice declares.
President Peralez then begins shaking hands with the people who came to witness his inauguration. The guests ranged from Former President Richardson to DC locals who were just happy to be invited to a event with free food afterwards. However Peralez's Presidency signaled the final change that America needed. The first President of the NUS served 11 terms, and the second served 4. America needs leaders who see the office as a public service, not a job. And Peralez has no interest in dying in office.
Later at the Inauguration Banquet President Peralez stood to make a speech. "I thank everyone for coming tonight. Especially former President Dick Richardson, who without the actions you took to reunite this great Nation we would not be here today. It was only a year ago I became Mayor of Night City, back then it never occurred to me that I could ever be President of the United States of America. However the goals and plans I had for Night City can now be brought to the National level, I also plan on continuing my predecessor's programs and expanding upon them. However, we must remain vigilant as the Corps are most likely scheming to get back at us. I will not provoke war, but I will be prepared for it."
