Theodora stared into space as dried blood from her cuts were still present on her arm. She had been sitting on the same couch for nearly an hour, with no signs of moving or her mood improving. She didn't have the energy to do anything, except to mope and ruminate over the Wizard's absence. She hadn't even notice that the fireplace in front of her had been lit.
Suddenly, a quiet cackling laugh pierced her mind. It then became louder and more pronounced.
Behind Theodora was a beautiful floor mirror with arched fixtures. But she didn't want to look. She didn't want to look. She continued to stare straight ahead. She hoped to resist whatever the mirror wanted to show her.
Poor little Theodora. Poor, poor little Theodora. Lost like a little lamb without me. Lost without your beautiful…Wickedness.
The green skinned witch appeared in the mirror, wearing her black pointy hat and black dress. But Theodora was silent. She started to stare at the fire in front of her. She didn't want to see. She didn't want to see…
It's alright, the green witch barked. I know you can hear me loud and clear. I know that nobody likes the 'I told you so' speech, but that is exactly what you need to hear…
I told you so. Because you are weak and pathetic. The witch in the mirror began to snicker evilly.
You see, the sad part is that you thought for even a second that the Wizard would see you for anything other than who you truly are…
She flicked Theodora a malevolent grin.
Which is me. An ugly Wicked Witch that is ostracized from all of Ozian society and is destined to be alone for eternity. That is you. The green witch continued to grin.
The witch slowly and only slightly turned her head to her interloper.
"No…", Theodora calmly said, trying her hardest to hold back tears as she shut her eyes and gently shook her head. "No…you are wrong."
Am I? What is it that the Winkies would always call you? Ohhhhh yes, I remember now. A Wicked Witch. That's what they would call you. Isn't that what those sanctimonious fools at the Emerald City would also call you? And don't you think one of them would have whispered all of this into your precious Wizard's ear? For him to flee? To leave? I think so. Those pompous fools have been trying to ruin your life from day one. I don't blame them, either, for you are feeble without me, kind of like a little delicate leaf.
This time, Theodora turned her head fully to the side, with one of her eyes now staring at the mirror.
You see, it's time to face the facts. They are all CONSPIRING against you. They are LAUGHING at you. You are NOTHING without me.
As she continued to speak, Theodora's expression became one of rage.
The Winkies know where he is, the green skinned witch declared in her shrillest voice. THEY ARE WORKING WITH THE EMERALD CITY AND YOUR ENEMIES! GO AND MAKE THEM TELL YOU! GO! AND SHOW THEM NO MERCY! MAKE THEM PAY FOR WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO YOU!
Her cackling laughter then echoed throughout the parlor room.
