For the longest time I lost access to the google doc I write this story on and have been unable to write any updates. I have since downloaded the story parts I had on FFN and rewrote the lost content. This has been a taxing process and it slightly different from the previously written content but I find myself liking the updated work.
With Daphne's affirmation that the Board of Governors seemed to like the proposal the group of friends gathered in an unused classroom the next day to discuss who would be good delegates to be spokespeople for their houses.
Slytherin was an easy choice with Daphne and Rose being picked since it was roses' idea and being close friends with Daphne they would be able to work well together. Harry was selected as one of the Gryffindor representatives and despite Harry suggesting Hermione as the other it was decided someone a bit more popular and a bit more approachable would be better for the job. Had Hermione not been exceedingly busy trying to attend all the classes the school had to offer she may have been offended by this but she agreed she would be too busy anyway.
After much consideration Angelina was who the group decided to approach. Angelina was a popular Fifth year student. She was particularly well known for being a Gryffindor Chaser.
From Hufflepuff they decided quickly on Cedric Diggory who was easily the most popular Hufflepuff they knew. The second person was hard to choose because none of the group really knew anyone from Hufflepuff house. They decided to meet with Cedric to see if he was interested and see who he felt would be a good addition.
When looking at Ravenclaw house Ginny immediately suggested Luna Lovegood but she wasn't a particularly strong candidate. She did not have too many friends and was constantly set apart from others in her house.
According to Daphne a girl named Cho Chang was particularly popular but was rumoured to be a bit stuck up. Since they didn't know anyone else who was popular in Ravenclaw they decided to approach her too but decided to do it after meeting with Cedric. Rumour had it he was quite close to Cho.
A few days after Christmas Dumbledore requested Rose come see him about their proposal. Harry, Daphne and Capella joined Rose for moral support. Dumbledore, it turned out, had many questions and even offered a suggestion for a Hufflepuff. A girl named Sarah Fawcett.
Rose recognised the surname from her lessons on light and dark families with Kingsley. The Fawcett family had tried to stay neutral but this neutrality made them a target in the last war and like many other families in the war the Fawcett's suffered many losses and now only Sara and her father were left.
Thanking Dumbledore for his suggestion, Rose decided it was time to meet Cedric and Sara. Rose decided to go and see the two Hufflepuffs with only Capella joining her, not wanting to make the Hufflepuffs suspicious.
Sara, who did not know Rose initially declined a meeting with Rose but Cedric agreed to hear them out.
"So our job would be to speak to our house and find out what events they would like to see and our group would take the proposals to Dumbledore and get them approved?" Cedric asked once he had listened to what Rose had to say.
"Yes. We would also take charge planning the event and making sure the event is a success. For instance if the school student body wanted a ball we would design the great hall making it look presentable for a ball, we would find a band and create menus" Rose responded making Cedric look approvingly at her.
"We have two members of staff on board so they would be able to help look for bands or help us with logistical support" Capella said, smiling trying to be useful to the conversation since Rose had decided to bring her.
"The Board of Governors have agreed to set aside funding for the events as long as we can get over sixty percent participation across the school" Rose added, hoping more information would help Cedric come to a decision.
"Alright I will help but It cannot interfere with Quidditch. I don't want to have to pick one or the other." Cedric said finally after a long moment of silence.
"Rose would never give up on Quidditch either so we can guarantee it wont conflict." Capella said grinning at Rose.
"Will you take our proposal to Sara? I know she was weary of us but if she knows you're behind us it may offer some sway." Rose said, smiling and handing Cedric a informational docket she had prepared.
"If you could speak to Cho Chang too that would be a big help" Capella added, grinning mischievously.
"Putting me to work already I see" Cedric joked before agreeing to help and heading back to his house table to finish his meal.
While Rose and Capella had been speaking to Cedric, Harry had been speaking to Angelina who seemed happy to help with the project and was eager to see more activities in the school.
While Rose was taking strides to lessen the divide between the houses she knew that she still needed to do more within the Slytherin house. This was particularly difficult because Rose knew she couldn't just beat Malfoy into submission; it wouldn't look good and would get her in a lot of trouble .
What she needed to do was lessen his influence over his peers and then work her way into the gap she had created.
She decided on a prank campaign she would prank him and show that he was not untouchable. Thankfully she knew some of the best pranksters in the game.
Planning would have to wait however because Rose had to attend her classes. More than once Daphne had to get Roses' attention by waving a hand in front of her face or lightly pinching her.
"You are really spacing out today. At least try and focus" Daphne told her during their transfiguration class.
"Sorry I just really want to get started with my plans." Rose replied, trying not to laugh, however she did as Daphne had suggested and tried a little harder to focus.
At Dinner that evening Cedric came to tell Rose, Daphne and Capella; who were all seated together, that Cho was onboard. He mentioned that Cho would see if there was anyone else in her year interested in helping out.
When Rose looked over at the Ravenclaw table Cho was looking at her and smiled. Rose suddenly recognised the girl.
"Oh she was at the tornadoes game I went to once" Rose said, surprising her friends because the comment was unexpected.
"Well she is a Tornadoes fan" Cedric said somewhat offhandedly.
Cedric did not stay long due to the weird looks he was receiving from many of the Slytherins and even some of the other houses who were wondering why he was there.
That night Rose and Capella went in search of Fred and George. After searching the common hangout spots Rose decided to call Harry on the mirror to ask if they were in the at what Rose and Capella might want Fred and George quickly agreed to meet the two girls.
It didn't take long to have both the twins on board and they were soon spouting ideas off like crazy. Unsurprisingly Capella was too offering many suggestions and was eager to prove to Fred and George she had her fathers pranking spirit.
The next morning while Malfoy was eating his breakfast his hair suddenly changed from blond to Red and Gold, the Gryffindor colours. So engrossed in his meal he didn't notice right away that was until people around him started laughing. Of Course this only made more people look.
Malfoy who had finally realised what had happened stood up and started frantically demanding whoever did this come forward and set it right. This of course made everyone else who had not yet seen look at him. He seemed to realise this too and stomped out of the great hall however as soon as he tried to cross the threshold of the door he walked into an invisible barrier keeping him inside.
It was at this point Severus came to his aid dispelling both of the pranks. He looked furious that someone had pranked Malfoy like this and promised to everyone he would find out who was responsible.
For the rest of the day Malfoy was in a foul mood; this mood only worsened when at Lunch his hair became Ravenclaw colours. Snape did not wait to react this time he swooped down and started casting spells on Malfoys food and Goblet.
Snape quickly deduced that Malfoys drink had been spiked but he wasn't sure with what or who had done it, this put him in a rather foul mood too.
Rose had found it quite hard to control her laughter as both Snape and Malfoy stormed out of the hall complaining about bullying.
"My Father will hear about this" Malfoy declared as he left to get his hair fixed.
At Dinner that day Malfoy was paranoid about everything he ate and drank, even asking Professor Snape to check his food and drink on multiple occasions causing Snape to complain loudly that Malfoy should just sit down and stopped bothering him after Malfoy had approached him one to many times.
Malfoys hair did not change that meal but it didn't need to because Malfoy had made himself look pretty foolish without Roses' intervention.
Knowing that pranking Malfoy too many times in quick succession would lead to an inquiry about bullying, Rose left him alone for a few days and concentrated on assembling her Planning Committee.
By the time Saturday rolled around the Planning Committee had two people from every house and were ready to have their first meeting. The meeting would be held in the arithmancy classroom since Professor Vector had agreed to sponsor the group, Professor Vector would be joining the meeting.
Rose was the first to arrive with Daphne. Capella and Astoria had both wanted to come but since they weren't one of the two representatives of the house Rose asked them to stay behind for this first meeting.
Harry was next to arrive, like Rose he had asked his friends to wait for him in the common room. Cho Chang arrived next with another girl from her house. This second girl was a studious girl named Lisa Cho had suggested she would be good for the role.
Cedric and Sara both arrived at the same time, they were currently discussing the pro Quidditch season rather heatedly. When the two entered the room they stopped their discussion and sat down waiting for the last member Angelina who arrived shortly after everyone else.
"Now we are all here. I am happy we managed to come together. I don't want to take up much of your Saturday but I wanted everyone to meet each other and talk about my plans for the group."
Despite being the youngest one in the room everyone listened politely to Rose.
"We are already quite a ways into this year so I was thinking we would just do one or two events before school ends if possible. The first thing we need to do is speak to our house members and see what they would like to see in terms of fun events. Anyone here have any suggestions?"
Rose asked, feeling a little nervous as she addressed the crowd before her.
"You mentioned that you would like to see a Ball or a party? Well I'd love a ball?" Cho said speaking up first, she looked excited by the idea and was eager to voice her opinion.
"Maybe we could throw an end of year ball to wrap up the school year?" Cedric told no one in particular.
"It would certainly be a good way to blow off some steam after finals exams" Daphne responded in her usual tone that if you did not know her almost sounded like she was uninterested.
Rose took notes on a sheet of parchment and smiled at the group.
"Any other suggestions?"
"Well easter is coming up so maybe we could host a themed event. Muggles to egg hunts that could be fun?" Lisa said, speaking up for the first time.
"While I like the suggestion personally, the older students in the school may not want to do that. I will write it down for now and we can ask our houses. We have about three months to prepare for that." Rose said looking thoughtful but writhing the suggestion down as she said she would.
"I know fireworks night has already passed but maybe we could have a late celebration with fireworks, a big fire or a few of them, lots of food you would normally see at the vendor?" Angelina said looking thoughtful.
The comment made the wizarding families look at her a little confused.
"What is Bonfire night?" Cho asked.
"It's a day in November when muggles let off a whole bunch of fireworks and light big bonfires all over the country." Sara said. Since the decline of her family house she and her father despite being purebloods had lived among the muggles.
"The history behind it is a bit strange but the muggles really do love it" Rose said, making a note on her parchment.
"What about a foreign food tasting event? We can have the elves cook up meals we don't really eat here from different countries. We can have booths scattered around the great hall and bring in different years at different times to enjoy foreign cuisine." Cedric said, looking around for approval.
The suggestion was unanimously accepted and added to the list.
"I think we have a few good ideas to take back to our houses but this isn't just us planning events, we're just the representatives of our houses so let's speak to our housemates and get more ideas" Rose said happily before dismissing the group so they could enjoy their weekend.
Instead of enjoying her Saturday Rose made a point to be seen in the common room and talking to others about their beliefs on blood purity and discrimination in general. Surprisingly Malfoy was not around and while Rose wondered where he was this made talking to the two younger years easier without his counters.
With Malfoys absence Rose felt like many people had listened to her even if they were not all accepting what she was saying.
That evening Capella dragged Rose down to the lake and the two spent some time relaxing under the setting sun forgetting about anything else for some time and enjoying each other's company. Capella had taken her spot in Rose's lap and Rose was gently stroking the younger girl's hair.
So caught up in their own happiness neither noticed a rat watching them from the treeline. Though he would have been hard to spot even if they suspected he was there. The rat watched the two girls curiously before departing.
After the relaxing time by the lake the two girls returned to Roses' dorm room, where they fell into an easy sleep together.
The next two weeks of school were pretty uneventful with Rose and her friends attending lessons and speaking to others in their houses about what they would like to see from the school.
As January gave way to February the Planning Committee met again. A few of the younger students who were not used to how to present their homework in a way that would get them good marks had suggested an inter house study group.
While not technically an event that fell into Rose's plans for the group she brought the suggestion to the group and they spent some time discussing it.
As Well as the study group a sports day was a pretty popular request mostly from muggle born or muggle raised students. The large consensus was that the bonfire and ball would be good events.
This being the first time their groups had asked for suggestions they really didn't get many new suggestions the other students seemed more than happy to go along with the groups ideas.
The group decided that they would prepare proposals for a bonfire night and an end of year ball. The planning for both events took a full weekend and everyone seemed to have their own ideas.
That Sunday night the group felt confident enough to present their plans to the staff Professor Vector would be the one to set this up and inform the students in the group when the meeting would be.
With the planning committee plans done, Rose started to plan her own small event for a special day coming up soon. Luckily the day fell on a Sunday so Rose could go all out without fear of missing a lesson.
With her new connection to Capella keeping her plans a secret was incredibly difficult. Capella knew Rose was planning and was excited about something big but so Rose had managed to divert any asked questions.
As the special day approached Capella inevitably figured out what Rose was planning or at least she knew what the day of the plans was. With this in mind she enlisted her mom to help her pick out the perfect gift for Rose.
On Sunday the fourteenth of February Rose was exceedingly nervous as she woke up. She woke Capella by kissing the younger girl lightly on the lips.
"Morning," Capella said sleepily.
"Wakey wakey sleepy head we have plans today" Rose responded gently pinching Capella's sides to get her moving.
Before Capella left for her morning shower Rose handed her a perfectly wrapped present. Capella blushed while receiving the gift and quickly opened it revealing a beautiful light blue summer dress that went well with her Silver Headband that Capella had worn ever since she had received it at Christmas.
"I love it." Capella said, throwing herself into Rose' arms and hugging her.
"You will wear it today?" Rose asked happily, accepting the hug and returning it just as eagerly.
"Of course. Are you going to tell me what we are doing?" Capella responded.
"Nope, not yet at least. I'm going to shower. See you soon." Rose said giggling to herself and heading for the shower room.
Capella let out a frustrated sigh and went back to her own dorm so she could shower too.
The two girls headed down to breakfast the same as they normally would. Capella was a bundle of excited energy as she tried to persuade Rose to spill their plans.
After breakfast Rose led Capella out of the school and down to the school gates. Capella found this odd because as far as she knew they were not allowed to leave the school grounds. At the school gates Capella was greeted by her Mother who was smiling at the pair.
"Ready to go?" She asked Capella to groan and look between her mom and Rose.
"Go where?" Capella asked feeling a little irritable being the only one who did not know.
"We are going to the beach for the day." Rose said, finally taking pity on Capella.
"Is that allowed?"
"Yes it is allowed. I will have to join you girls because I don't want you going out alone but I will give you some space" Marlene said smiling at the two girls.
The beach was just a little cold since it was still early in the year but it didn't rain and the weather didn't seem to bother the two girls.
They spent the entire day playing on the beach and visiting the piers that were on the beachfront. Along the beachfront were arcades and various places to get food. Capella fell in love with freshly made donuts on the seafront.
As it got later in the day Capella gave Rose her Valentines day gift, a beautiful silver necklace. On the necklace was a beautiful Tiger Rose immediately knew this had to have been custom made because the tiger looked exactly like her Animagus form had looked like in her trance.
After a long day out the two girls were eager to return to the castle and back into bed. Before the two fell asleep they shared a small kiss, while longer than any of their kisses before it was still a relatively short kiss the two were still exploring this new relationship slowly and didn't want to rush into anything.
The next day at the breakfast table Ginny made a surprise visit to the Slytherin table where she sat for the meal. Capella and Rose had given Ginny a bar of Honeydukes chocolate as a friendly gesture the day before and Ginny felt happy to have the two girls as friends.
Malfoy looked positively repulsed when Ginny sat down and for a long moment he didn't say anything. By the time he found his voice and raised his complaints Capella, Rose and Ginny were locked in a conversation and completely ignored Malfoy.
That Monday night the planning Committee met with the teachers to present their proposed activities. Professor Snape looked like he would rather be anywhere but at this meeting, Lupin looked proud and was eager to support the ideas.
Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick took some time looking over the proposals diligently without comment on them.
The two proposed events were unanimously agreed upon and the planning committee were allowed to start planning and advertising the event.
Because they could not yet prove they would get over sixty percent participation the school board would not fund the first event which was the bonfire, thankfully Sirius and Cyrus had decided to privately sponsor the event. Together the two bought and supplied a very large amount of food, fireworks, timber for the fires, drinks (non alcoholic) and even hired a rock band to play the event.
Rose had raised concerns about the expenses but Sirius had brushed off the concerns without really listening to her complaints.
