"Hah, I'm surprised you're paying attention to little ol' me, considering the company you have around." Ayako smiles and then takes a sip of her cola. "You lonely, or something?" Yes.
I sigh. "Gimme a break, I jumped over the school wall to get you that, didn't I?" I just wanted to hang out with someone. And... Rin still hasn't come back, while Shiro is ignoring my existence. Probably out of shame.
She chuckles. "Yeah, that was pretty cool. Delinquent." The archer sends me a smirk. "Maybe I should snitch on you, huh?" It's clearly a joke, but for some reason she's tense. "N-not that I would do that of course." I wonder why she's like that...
Sadly I'm too dumb to figure it out, so what I do instead is directly ask her. "You're acting weird. Why?" I came here to talk with a sort of friend who almost became my girlfriend that one time, not a scaredy cat.
She leans in against the wall with a pout. "You noticed huh..." A blush then appears on my face. "It's just that... I guess I'm getting a bit overwhelmed with all the stuff that's surrounding you. That's all." Is that a compliment or an insult?
Thankfully she elaborates. "Like... some time ago I used to think you were just the Shiro of the kendo club, which is cool. Awesome even... By the way, you should stop skipping it." Urgh, but there's no one strong there!
I grimace. "Sorry, but I'll definitely be skipping it today. I got a date with a childhood friend of mine later... she's pretty cool... also she's kind of like a stereotypical ojou-sama, which is just way too great." Though I have zero plans for the actual date.
Ayako gasps. "And that all leads me to my next point!" Oh? I didn't even know you knew Luvia! "It's like suddenly I learned you were secretly a harem anime protagonist!" Not possible. I actually have sex.
Ayako doesn't know that however, so she cannot know her conclusion is flawed. "I mean, Rin!? You're dating Rin! And also her sister... And then there was that other... girl who showed up." She's talking about Illya of course. "And now there's this childhood friend!" I'm just that guy.
And I must make her realize that. "Um... By the way, I also started dating Shiro." Going from the school's idol to it's janitor is a crazy drawback. "And there's this nun too..." Caren doesn't really frequent my circles.
Her eye twitches. "Of course. My bad for not knowing." I wasn't offended, I simply wished to share knowledge! "But the whole bunch of crazy woman isn't even the craziest part... One must not forget that you're a millionaire or whatever!" A billionaire. Actually, it's more like I'm a whatever money I wantnaire.
She clenches the fist that is not holding the can. "So... yeah, I feel like I'm talking with a super star." And after it a weak smile appears on her face. "Not that I want you to feel guilty or anything. Guess I'm just a bit... jelly?" I understand that. Many people wished they were me.
I smile towards her. "It's alright, I get you." I will probably get all awkward when I meet King Arthur too. "Though... sorry if I'm bothering you." It's lunch time right now, and maybe she wanted to eat with someone else.
She shrugs. "Nah... seriously. Nothing against you man, I'm just a bit overwhelmed." She sends me a suspicious look. "I gotta wonder how you climbed up in life so fast though... unless you were always on the peak?" I definitely was!
But I do understand her actual question. "I was a pretty normal guy, but then I k-." I stop myself. Telling her about the supernatural world would probably be a mistake for many reasons, so even an idiot like me won't do it.
First there's the fact that it would put her life at risk. Ayako is definitely the type of girl who would go out at night looking for a vampire boyfriend or something, and vampires are very much real, and also very much dangerous.
And the second reason is that magecraft and everything related to it is supposed to remain a secret. According to Rin even a Campione like me might get into trouble if I revealed it to everyone else. That said, she might be making it up to spook me. It goes without saying, but I don't care much for the second reason.
However, I made the mistake of saying way too much. "You did what? Don't leave me hanging man... If there's a wish granting lamp around here, you'd better share it." If I had one... I would not share it!
Now... how to get her off my trail? The truth is that I don't know enough about Ayako to manipulate her with my... low levels of intelligence. I also don't have massive leverage over her like I do with most of my harem.
And to gain that leverage, I would need to reveal my secrets. Which means my only unfortunate option is... "Drop it Ayako. I don't want to tell you." Okay, there are definitely tons of other options. I'm a dumb guy though, so I can't think of any!
She flinches. "O-okay...?" I probably just raised her suspicion levels to the stars, but it can't be helped. "If you don't want to tell me, that's fine..." And taking into account her expression, I also acted like a douche.

Ayako's smile returns, it's straned. "Ah... Most of the rumors are surrounding you right now!" I guess I should have expected that. "The usual stuff is also being spread around, like stories about Person A and what not." I never heard of this guy.
Now I'm a bit curious. "Person A...? Is it related to you or something?" It can't be me. I don't know how to relate the letter A to Yato Shibata. It's gotta be a crazy rumor to survive the ones I make though.
Ayako's smile turns a lot more genuine. "Well... you see... it was a dark night..." She's doing a strange voice, like she wants to spook me. Quickly the act is dropped however. "Ah, man... It's just not the same when the sun is out, and I don't have a ton of time." I'm totally willing to skip a class or two!
The Archer probably isn't though, so she pouts. "The whole thing with Person A is... Well, I hate to spoil the story, but it's just a long living urban legend." Considering the world we live in, there might be more truth to it than you could possibly know.
She continues. "So there's this... Person, we don't know their gender. Some spooky stuff happens and he ends getting pursued by a red ghost... Who might not be a ghost, it's complicated." Sounds like it, but my dumb brain got the gist of it.
More importantly though, she sounded excited about it. "Then tell me one day when it's actually night. It sounds fun." Like a sleepover! But one that will end with tons and tons of sex!
Laughter leaves her mouth. "Just you and me...? Are you pulling your harem protagonist moves on me, mister?" No, because my... hentai protagonist moves involves threatening the things you love so that I may obtain your personhood.
I laugh too. "Nope." For some reason that stops her own laughter. "We could make it a group thing though! I want to see how Rin would react to a scary story." Probably cry. Or piss herself. That's a thing she does.
Ayako stares at her can, and then takes a sip of it. "She would probably piss herself out of fear." You have no idea how right you truly are. "Anyways, sounds like a bad idea." She crushes her can with a squeeze of the hand and begins to walk towards a trashcan.
I raise an eyebrow, I won't tell her, but I'm a little hurt... What goes around, truly comes around. "Why's that? I'm hurt." Ah! I ended up saying outloud in the end! Geez, Yato have some control over yourself!
She throws away her trash. "Dunno, just sounds awkward, I guess." She then turns around to face me again. "Can you imagine? Me... you.. Rin... Shiro... And a bunch of girls who I don't know and who hopefully don't include that white haired kid." She's actually older than me.
She crosser her arms and thinks for a while. "But... I guess if we brought more people in, it could be less awkward, people I know. Not Shinji though, because he's always complaining about you nowadays." My poor brother-in-law, he can't accept I stole his sister.
I look to the skies... "I should probably fix that, seeing who I'm dating." And try to imagine a reality where Shinji and are the best of friends. I can't really do so, mostly because I can only imagine him as a crybaby.
She smirks. "Good luck with that, but... don't drag me in." She raises a finger. "So back to the rumours..." Oh? So there's more? I hope it's something a bit more real this time, even if it's stupid to think the school's rumor mill could give anything like it.
And well... I'm even more stupid than you would think, because I'm actually hoping she has some information that could be traced back to that mercenary. Waver still hasn't told me anything after all.
I would get mad at him, but he has been pretty great so far, and... as annoying as it is to admit, somethings just take time. For all I know his investigation is going super duper great and I'm just a idiot. Well, I definitely know the latter is true.

Ayako continues. "She appeared on a bunch of TV shows and stuff... And apparently she's coming here to relax a little, since it's a small city." I can see that. Fuyuki is a bit of a weird place, being split right in the middle between traditional and modern.
So it's the perfect space for an idol to relax. Even if this idol isn't exactly one because she dances or sings songs. It's sort of awful that her transfer got presumably leaked though, that will probably make her super anxious.
Ayako continues to whisper, after taking a look around. "Her name is Hakuno Kishinami... Apparently she hasn't been the same after she woke up. She has panic attacks out of nowhere, she cries out of nowhere... A guy touched her in the shoulder and suddenly she punched him in the jaw." She probably has trauma over basically time traveling.
Ayako looks down. "According to her parents, it's 'cause her treatment went wrong, and the government doesn't want to admit it." Or it could be that... I still think my theory is more likely though.
A lot of parents they... they refuse to talk with their children, to learn what's going on with them, so if they see anything wrong, they put the blame on other people. I'm lucky my parents noticed my... quirkness and accepted it without complaints.
Ayako makes a shushing noise. "Don't tell anyone though... The teachers only told me because I'm a captain of a club, and they want people like me to step in case she gets bullied or something." Oh, so this isn't a rumor! It's a secret!
I smile from ear to ear. "Don't worry! I won't!" I'm pretty happy though! I didn't know Ayako and I were so close... I sort of feel bad about lying to her now though. "I might put the moves on her though, if she's cute." And by that I mean, I will turn her into my sex slave.

It happens again, it sucks. "Geez, no need to toy with me like that!" She smirks. "Don't be surprised if I sniff it out eventually though. You're the one who's teasing me at this point." Yep, definitely the type of girl who wants a vampire boyfriend.
There is a easy way of proving the truth though. "Ayako, watch this." I crouch down and pick up a fairly small rock, then I get up again. "I could do this to a mountain." Then I clench my fist and turn the rock into dust. Something that is beyond a normal human, obviously.
Ayako's jaw hits the floor. "W-what...?" I just explained to you. "Y-you..." She keeps looking at me and then the ground, I think I may have just blown her mind. However, it's okay, she blew mine with information about a maybe cute girl.
The bell rings, lunch is over.
So I wave at Ayako. "See ya! Oh, and don't look for the supernatural! A human like you will just get utterly and completely devoured." She doesn't respond, still shocked.
So I go back to class. I have a date after this!
