"Gohan! Gohan, where are you!" yelled Chi-Chi. It's been 5 years of peace since the defeat of Demon King Piccolo Jr, Goku was in the woods training as usual when he heard the call of Chi Chi. Goku hurried home to his frustrated wife.
"Hey Chi-Chi, what's the matter?" asked Goku.
"I need you to find your son. You don't want to be late to Roshi's, do you?" replied Chi-Chi with her foot tapping.
"Oh yeah, I'll find him!" Goku cheerfully said before calling to his trusty cloud, the Flying Nimbus. In the meantime, in the thick of the forest Son Gohan, son of Goku, was admiring a small blue bird. "Hey there little birdie you're pretty!" said Gohan, admiring the bird, but then the poor bird got spooked and flew away, "Wait don't go!" Gohan whimpered as he followed the bluebird when suddenly the branch that Gohan was standing on fell over the cliff.
The poor lad screamed and cried from the top of his little lungs. "Daddy Help! I don't wanna die!" he screamed, hoping his screams would be answered. The closer and closer the ground got, the tighter and tighter Gohan shut his eyes."Don't worry Gohan!" A familiar voice forced Gohan to open his eyes and see, too much of his relief, his smiling father who had rescued him from near death. Gohan found himself gripping Goku's baggy orange pants for safety. Goku looked down at his son and smiled, "You'll be okay, Gohan! I got you now!" Goku said in his usual reassuring tone.
The world felt ordinary since Goku defeated Piccolo Jr. at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, but maybe that'll all change in the blink of an eye. A streak of bright light streaked across the midday sky caught the farmer's eye. He watched it fly over him with incredible speed and with the roar of a fighter jet. The ground rattled once the object landed in the fields over the horizon. The lonely farmer took his truck "Holy crap it's a meteorite!" said the farmer as the hatch on the space pod opened "Wait it's a space pod!?" exclaimed the farmer.
A man, or rather, an alien with long spiky hair that reached his heels, had stepped out of the space pod. The farmer prepared his rifle to shoot the scary newcomer.
"Hmph, a power level of five," said the alien, checking the device on his human-like face, showing no interest in the human before him.
"Don't move or I'll shoot" yelled the farmer, but the alien didn't care. He took a step anyway, and the farmer shot at the alien! Bang! It didn't take more than a second before the farmer had fallen to his bullet. "Stupid human, Kakarot should've taken care of them a long time ago... huh? A huge power level in the west, it must be Kakarot!" said the alien as he flew in that direction.
In the Badlands, "Time for some training so I can finally defeat Son Goku" Piccolo, the last child and reincarnation of the Demon King Piccolo, sat there plotting his next moves for Earth. However, an alien suddenly appeared in front of him, quickly interrupting his plan to train.
"Tch, you're not Kakarot," said the alien, his face contorted into a disappointed scowl.
"What if I was, was it to you?" Piccolo remarked sternly.
"Wanna be that way huh,"
With a battle cry, Piccolo shot a ki blast at the alien and when the smoke cleared the alien was still standing unscratched "That was a nice attempt to tickle me... now watch as I use my signature move I like to call Double-" The sound of his device beeped with a number reading, "What!? Another power level? That must be Kakarot!
"I'm coming, Kakarot!" And with that, the strange visitor flew off with tremendous speed. The entire interaction left the usually calm and collected Piccolo shaken.
On Kame Island, Goku and Gohan had arrived at the home of Goku's old master. "Hello There!" As Goku yelled, familiar faces immediately greeted him.
"Whoa! Is that Goku!?" exclaimed Krillin excitedly. He was more than happy to see Goku since the last time they've saw each other was during the Tenkaichi Budokai.
"Nice to see you again, Goku," said Master Roshi, a warm smile hiding underneath his bushy mustache.
"Hey Goku, are you babysitting?" Bulma asked.
"No, that's my son, Gohan!" said Goku as he glanced down at the nervous boy,
"Wow, I didn't know you had it in you!" Roshi said jokingly
"What's your name?" asked Krillin.
"My name is Son Gohan... I'm four," replied Gohan with a hint of nervousness.
"Hi, Gohan. What do you want to be when you grow up?" asked Bulma.
"I wanna be a scholar…" answered Gohan, a small smile forming on his face.
As the camaraderie continues between old friends, Goku and Krillin sense something… something sinister. "...What's that?" Goku's entire demeanor changed. His muscles tensed in anticipation.
"What's the matter, Goku?" asked Krillin.
"Prepare for an immense power level. I know you feel it, Krillin," replied Goku
"Oh yeah, I feel it… and it's bad… really bad," said Krillin.
And just as Goku and Krillin predicted, the source of the strong power level appeared on Kame Island.
"Ah, the person I was looking for, Kakarot," said the alien, smirking with his arms crossed.
"There's nobody here with that name," Goku says firmly. Goku hides Gohan behind his legs, intensely watching the unwelcome visitor.
"That's you, Kakarot," He points at Goku, "and you were supposed to kill the inhabitants here and sell this planet because that's what we do brother," He cocks his head to one side and points to the earth below.
"Quit your lying! I don't have a brother!" yelled Goku, his fist clenching with fury.
Master Roshi steps up, hoping to put some insight into the situation. "Goku, there's some truth behind your alien origins. A long time ago, your Grandpa Gohan had told me that he had found a strange pod and next to it a baby. Gohan took that baby home and he was a rowdy child. One day, the child fell into a ravine and hit his head. Grandpa Gohan took the child home to recover. Any normal child would have died, but he survived after the incident. He became the nicest child in the world."
Goku slowly started to understand the realization. "And that child was me, huh?"
"If Goku is an alien, then why is he here?" asked Krillin
The alien smirked as he looked at Goku. "We Saiyans are conquerors," he began. "We take over planets and sell them to the highest bidder." Goku clenched his fists, but Raditz continued, unfazed. "Sometimes, we send our children to weaker worlds like this one to handle the dirty work." The alien's eyes gleamed with a mix of pride and bitterness. "Kakarot, you're one of the few left—like me, your brother, Raditz"
Raditz's eyes widened in shock when he examined Goku again, "Ah! Kakarot, what happened to your tail!" yelled Raditz with urgency in his voice,
"I got rid of it a long time ago," Goku replied as he looked back down to where his tail once was.
"You fool! You realized you lost your true power. No wonder you're so soft on these pathetic weaklings!"
Raditz looked at Gohan, who was cowering behind his father's legs. Raditz approaches subtly, his movements slow and deliberate.
"Hey, is that your son, Kakarot?" Raditz smirked.
"No, he's not," replied Goku
"Don't lie, Kakarot. I can see the Saiyan in him." Raditz walked even closer, his gaze locked on Gohan.
"Don't get any closer!" Goku snapped, but Raditz ignored him and stepped closer before he rammed his knee into Goku's torso while he snatched Gohan. Poor Gohan squirms and cries for his Dad, but Raditz's grip is tight on his qipao.
"Kakarot, I want you to kill 100 humans by tomorrow, and I don't want to hurt my nephew, but I will if I have to." Raditz's face was full of arrogance.
"Goku will never do that!" yelled Master Roshi
"He will because he's a Saiyan, and if he wants his son back!" The threats from Raditz pierced Goku's heart like a dagger." Goku's voice reverberated through the sky and the mystical Flying Nimbus immediately answered his call."Goku, you can't do it!" Krillin said, "You're hurt," as he helped his friend up.
Goku grits his teeth through the pain. "But I can't sit here and do nothing. I need to do something."
"You can't do it alone!" yelled a deep voice from above.
"Piccolo!" yelled everyone.
"I can't let that alien get in the way of my plan for world domination but for now you guys need my help to defeat the threat," said Piccolo. "We could, and we will need to, team up to stop him. After this, I'll defeat you," said Goku.
"Bulma, hand me the Dragon Radar." As Goku had asked of her, Bulma reached into her pocket and handed over the Dragon Radar. Goku studied the screen for Raditz's route. "There he stopped. Come on Piccolo!," said Goku as he hopped on the Nimbus.
"Hey Piccolo, you think you can keep up with my Flying Nimbus?" Teased Goku.
"I have a better way of traveling than your silly little cloud," said Piccolo.
Will this temporary team-up with Son Goku and Piccolo be enough to stop the new threat? Find out next time in "Legacy of Raditz" Pt.2
