Everything Changes
Chapter 1
Their love story wasn't an uncommon one. Two people who grew up in the same town on opposite sides. Going to the same schools and town events never really noticing or knowing each other.
A beach bonfire party was how they met at 16. Becoming friends and eventually more by 17.
Going their seperate ways for college and reuniting by chance once they graduated and resurfaced back in Tree Hill.
Lucas had moved back into his childhood home.
While Brooke was now living on her own since Peyton moved out.
They agreed to keep their romantic relationship in the past where it belonged.
"Why do you need my help picking out what to wear?" Peyton asked.
"Because Haley is busy with Nathan since he's home from an away game and Rachel's on a modeling location shoot. Out of town."
"I unpacked what i already had in my closet. These pieces are new i just bought them."
"We're best friends and i trust you."
"Plus i'm alot more nervous about this dinner with Lucas then i should be." Brooke admitted.
"I can see that. Which is what i'm not getting. The two of you agreed to be friends so you should feel relaxed and excited. To just hang out." Peyton replied
"Me and Lucas haven't hung out alone since we dated. Him and I have never exactly been just friends." Brooke said.
"I like that this one." Peyton replied. Lifting it up.
...
Brooke drove straight towards Lucas's house.
She looked at herself once more before leaving her car.
She made her way towards the front door and knocked once.
Smiling shyly as the door opened in front of her.
In a blue button down and grey dark wash jeans and black dress shoes. Lucas smiled up at Brooke.
His blond hair cut short. He reached for her.
Engulfing her into a hug.
"Brooke Davis." He said softly.
"It's been way too long." Lucas said. Once they pulled apart.
"When you offered for us to have dinner. I thought it over."
"And realized there was no reason for me not to agree."
"So where are we going?" Brooke asked.
"We're eating in the kitchen. I cooked and you just get to be taken care of tonight." Lucas replied.
Brooke knew she would like whatever he made. She planned to not make a big deal about tonight because it wasn't.
As she followed him inside.
...
She was lead into a lightly lit kitchen.
A bottle of wine. And two plates seated across from each other.
Fettuccine alfredo on both plates. A separate dish had pull apart cheese bread.
They ate. Talked. Shared memories of their years out of town.
Once their plates were clean. They switched to the living room.
Where they had a dessert in their hands. As they sat down beside each other.
A chocolate dessert that she hadn't had since she left town.
The fireplace lit in front of them.
At some point they finished and their gazes lingered on each other then locked away.
"To old reunited friends." Lucas said. Lifting his glass.
"To what remains." Brooke replied. Clinking her glass with his.
"How are you even more beautiful. Captivating and sexy then i remember?" Lucas asked.
"Friends don't talk like that." Brooke replied.
"Why are we not going to cross boundaries. This is what's right for us both." Lucas replied.
Brooke swallowed hard and ran her hands through her hair. Before getting up to leave.
...
