The next morning Kay got up to get ready for the left her Aunt's house and began walking to Cam's house. Kay got to the park. She stared up at the basketball net.
"You made the team didn't you?"
Kayden turned around to see Carter and Kelsey walking up to her. "So it doesn't matter anyway. Let me guess Dad sent you?"
"Yeah. Kayden there is an evil ranger out there and he wants you to be careful" Kelsey filled her in.
"Oh. Do you know who it is?"
Kelsey gave Carter a look. "Kay do you mind coming back to the base with us?"
Kay looked at the yellow ranger. "No, i don't care who it is if you won't tell me. I want nothing to do with it. Dad didn't want me around in the first place so go and leave me alone"
Carter sighed as the teen walked away. "This is going to be rough once she finds out its her brother."
"Then we get Ryan back to our side and we lock them in a closet" Kelsey joked.
Later that night back at the base the team celecrated Ryan's return to his family. Ryan found himself standing on the dock in the lagoon over looking the water.
"Ryan" He turned to see his Dad. "I was wondering if i could show you something"
"Okay sure"
Captain Mitchell pulled out his wallet and show him a picture."Ryan do you remember her?"
Ryan took the picture into his hand and smiled. "Its Kayden. Of course i remember her. She would always stop crying when she saw me after she was born. I meant to ask Dana where she was"
"Ryan i sent her to live with your Aunt. She hates me for it but after losing you and when the tomb opened i couldn't bare having her out there so i sent her away." Will told his son.
"Does she know about me?" Ryan asked.
"No and i don't know how to tell her. She hates me enough as is"
"Let Dana and I try".
Both men ealked back into the base and noticed how worried everyone looked. "What is it?"
"Captain" Miss Fairweather spoke. "I found out there are still some feathers"
"Whaere?" Carter asked.
"The school." Miss Fairweather pulled up the street camera. "They are just outside the gym".
Panic rose when they saw Kayden and Cam walking into the school.
"Lets go!" Chad yelled as he led the way out.
Both girls walked into the school and went to change for their first practice. Their coach greeted them as they walked in.
They looked around as they heard a boom.
"What was that?" Cam asked her friend. They yelled as another one caused the building to shake.
"Come on!" Kay yelled grabbing her friend by the hand. They cried in terror as they were met by flames as they opened the door. Both girls looked around. "Cam the window!" Kay pointed as the cieling began to fall. "Cam go!"
Cam used the bench to jump up to crawl out of the window. "Kay!" She yelled. "Kay!"
Kay tried to reach her hand but was pushed to the ground as the ceiling collapsed pinning her under debris.
"Kayden!" Cam turned as she heard sirens and saw the rescue rover. "Dana!"
"Cam! Cam are you hurt? where's Kay?" Dana rushed out.
Cam was crying hard. "She's inside! please Dana help her!"
Dana nodded. "Ryan!" She yelled in fear as she saw her brother climbing in through the window. "Cam go wIth Kelsey".
Ryan tried to shield his mouth as the smoke was thick. "Help" He heard.
Kayden was blacking out as the wood kept her pinned. Her legs were like lead and her face bleeding from the three gashes. "Please someone help!" She saw a figure coming towards her. "Please"
"Hang on!"
Kay felt the wood from her legs being moved. She felt herself being lifted into his arms.
"Hold on okay" He told her as she tightened her grip.
Outside Dana hugged her Father tight as they waited.
"Guys!" Ryan yelled as he came running towards them."She passed out on me" Ryan told them as he laid her on the gurney from the ambulance. Dana wiped the blood from her face.
"We'll follow the ambulance from the rover." Carter yelled.
Ryan climbed in the back of the ambulance. "You have to be okay Kay. I'm back and i am not leaving".
At the hospital everyone gathered in the waiting area awaiting the news. They all stood up as her doctor joined them about two hours later.
"Will" He greeted.
"Matthew please is she okay?" Will asked his longtime friend and their family doctor.
"Shes going to be fine. She did inhale some smoke but she will be okay. The only thing i wanted to tell you is that her knee was criushed by the debris. We did operate but the damage was to severe."
" what are you saying?" Dana asked him.
"Dana i'm saying her dreams of playing basketball are over. She will have a slight lmp for the rest of her life. I am so sorry for having to tell you all this i know how much the sport means to her. We stiched up her cheek which will scar".
"Matt does she know?" Will asked him.
"She does, she's awake. She's in room 11" He excused himself.
Ryan's anger finally boiled to the surface as he left the hospital in a rage.
"I'll go" Dana told everyone. "Ryan" She called as she found her brother sitting on a bench with his head in his hands.
"This is all my fault. She is going to hate me for this"
"Hey, this is not your fault okay. This is Diabolico's fault".
Ryan stood up quickly. "If i had just listened to you in the first place. If i had just-" He trailed.
"Ryan" His Father spoke as he joined them. "If it wasn't for you she wouldn't be alive. You raced inside and brought her out."
"What if she hates me?"
"Kayden is also very stubborn to. Look this will be new to her to so be patient". Dana told him. "Come on lets go and let you guys reunite".
Inside Kay was asleep with her head on Carter's chest. He looked up as they entered. "She cired herself to sleep"
"Did you tell her?" Ryan asked his Father.
"I did. Ryan she may be a teenager but she is smarter than you think. She has the biggest heart and believe me she will let you into it".
"Will she come back to the base?" Joel asked.
"She wants to" Captain Mitchell replied. "Maybe its time i realize that she is safe out there knowing you guys are out there".
Carter slowly laid her down and stepped aside. "Just stay here until she wakes up she might surprise you." He directed to Ryan.
Ryan sighed sadly as he was left alone with his sleeping sister. As Ryan sat in the chair he watched as she began to wake.
Kay rubbed her eyes. "Hey" Her voice raspy. "Your him"
"Yeah. I'm your brother. Kay i'm so sorry this happened"
She took his hand. "Don't be. Its not your fault. I'm glad your alive. I'm glad to actually get to know you. Its just i want to come back to the base but Dad doesn't want me there" They looked as their Father appeared.
"You can come home Kay. Its time i realize that i formed the rangers to protect this city and knowing your still safe out there with them around kind of makes it easier now." He told his daughter as her face lit up. "I have my family complete again and i want nothing more then to have you all together".
"I love you Dad"She told him as he took her into his arms. She grabbed her brother by his jacket pulling him into the hug. "Can i go home?"
"Yeah you can come home but on strict orders to rest okay." Dana told her. "I signed your discharge papers"
Once they got back to the base Ryan carried her to her room on his back. "Here you go". He laid her on her bed.
"Ryan?"
"Yeah?"
"Did you remember me?"
"Yeah" He sat next to her. "You know i saw you. I was walking to the station to leave. I saw you and your friend walking towards the school."
"Oh. I have to return my uniform i guess" She said with a sad look. "Cam and i made the team together and now i will never play. I practiced so hard for this."
"Maybe you could help in a different way" Ryan said trying to encourage her.
Dana walked inside. "Hey, Kayden do you want me to help you shower?"
Kay nodded. "Okay."
Ryan watched sadly as she limped with Dana's help to her bathroom. He stared at the unform that hung from the hook in her closet. "Dana i will be back. I have an errand to run".
Ryan ran out of the room. He grabbed the keys from the rover and sped out. Ryan parked outside the school and noticed the coach and others around.
"Excuse me, but are you the coach?" Ryan asked the man.
"Yes i am Coach Mark Anderson, can i help you?"
Ryan smiled. "Hi, i'm Ryan, i'm Kayden's brother. Earlier when i was here after getting her out of the fire i noticed you need help with a younger group of kids for basketball. Kayden's knee is so messed up that she can't play anymore so i was wondering if you would consider her to help the kids?"
The coach looked at the young man. "Ryan i am sorry to hear that. Listen tell Kayden to come and see me tomorrow. I would love to have her. Tell her i am sorry about her knee."
"Thank you so much." Ryan shook his hand.
Ryan drove back to the base. He smiled as he passed his Dad's office. As he got to the lounge room he noticed everyone sitting around.
"Where did you go?" Dana asked her brother as she glanced at Kayden and Carter as they played ping pong.
Ryan explained everything to Dana.
"OW. Come on little lady ease up" Joel yelled as the ball hit his head.
"Well excuse me mister but its not my fault Carter can't hit the ball right. It wasn't my fault!" Kayden yelled back.
"Excuse me?" Carter grumbled. "I lost my grip on the paddle"
"Yeah Yeah, come on and try to beat me if you can" Kayden dared him with a grin.
Everyone laughed at her antics and prayed she would keep the positive attitude,
