Chapter XII

The Beginning of the End

Konoha's defenses were preparing for invasion when a new force of Talogans was first spotted. This new Talogan force was more formidable than the ones they knew of. And their numbers were much higher than the forces being led under Falcon. Or so Danzo thought. In truth, this new force was not as elite as the forces brought over by Falcon. But these forces were still dangerous.

Danzo did have a hidden ace up his sleeve though. He had the legions of the Daimyos that were there present. The Wind Daimyo had chosen to not get directly involved and to wait to strike when Taloga had let its guard down. A wise move, but not one that wasn't made aware to Falcon.

Despite the absence of one of the Daimyos, Danzo had a significant force to face this new Talogan army and he had it in him to attack. The Axis army charged through the gates towards the Talogan Army present. Unfortunately for the Axis troops, the Talogans had dug in and wreaked havoc on them.

The first day's siege ended in the death of over a third of the Axis' forces. While the Talogans suffered less than half those casualties.

It also didn't help that the entire village was now encircled by the Talogans cutting off major supply lines in the hopes of weakening the Axis.

Falcon and his troops were still a day out from the village, but they were marching hard and fast to make it there in time. Along the way, small guerrilla teams attacked his troops only to show that it undeterred the Talogans.

Danzo experienced doom for the first time in his life. That utter dread of that the end was upon them all. But he still chose to fight gloriously despite his own sickly actions. It was Danzo after all that murdered the Tsunade while she was drunk and had one of his Anbu doctors give the official report while Tsunade's body was taken to the ROOT hideout.

He was made Hokage by bribing the council and most joined in on this evil plan. He was certain that it was fool proof. But now he saw that the only part of it that was fool proof was the idea of taking over the world.

Danzo seethed with his rage as his own foolishness ended everything he wanted since he was a child. He should've known that Naruto was going to stop him. No matter now. He had to accept his fate and hope that he would be remembered as a hero.

Naruto smiled as he had watched the entire battle that day. He decided not to show his presence to the Axis since that would be a huge tactical disadvantage for the Talogans. But he gave an inspirational speech that made the Talogans cheer with joy.

Neji looked out over everything that had happened and sighed. "The fate of our once home is in our hands. Do we spare it or destroy it?" Neji asked. "Destroy it obviously. Why ask such a stupid question Neji?" Naruto said. "Because Naruto, there is going to be repercussions for the actions we commit. We just don't know what yet." Neji said as he walked away.

Naruto stood there for a while, contemplating what his friend had uttered. He knew that Neji had a sort of wisdom about him, but one thing that never made sense was when he acted completely out of line of his usual self.

Then Naruto realized what Neji said. There were going to be repercussions for the innocent villages that lay in the vicinities of all the hidden villages that were destroyed. They now had no major source of income and no one to protect them from anything.

Well, one problem must be dealt with at a time. Naruto thought as he looked over the vast carnage from this day's battle. It seemed odd having to be the one to destroy the place of his childhood. Especially with all the good memories he had here. Like Teuchie and Ayame making sure he had a nice hot bowl of ramen ready for him when he was starving.

After a while, Naruto turned around and left to return to his tent where his wife was worried sick no doubt. As he left though, a lookout saw him and went to report to Danzo that the Emperor of the Talogan Empire was present.

Danzo didn't waste a minute upon hearing this news. He sent a five man squad of his deadliest ROOT to take out Naruto and whoever else was with him.

The only problem is, Falcon appeared in front of them and slew them all before vanishing. Danzo had no idea of his failed attack and was certain that his Anbu had killed Naruto. Thus, he decided to give a speech tomorrow as the Talogans lined up for war. A speech of triumph over the puny Talogans.

Little did he know though, that his last day alive would be tomorrow and Konoha would fall to the terrifying weapon that the Talogan Empire had brought to complete their operation.
