Sabaku no Kitsune: Chapter 42
Spring country; 1 month after leaving Kumo: With Naruto, Temari, Tsunade, Kurumi, Obito, Kakashi and Sakura
Naruto and the others were all in a room in Koyuki's castle waiting for her to come over; over the past month Naruto and the others have been in spring country preparing for the invasion of Taki. Naruto has been mostly training with his 'Kurama mode' and trying to make it last longer; so far he could keep the cloak active for 30 minutes until he starts feeling the fatigue.
As Naruto waited in a room he spoke to the others "I wonder what's taking Koyuki's so long" he said gaining everyone's attention.
"She'll be here soon Naruto; what did I teach you when you were on my team" Kakashi said and Naruto looked at him.
"Tree walking…" Naruto said as everyone looked at him; everyone waited a few seconds expecting him to continue "what".
"No, I taught you more than that" Kakashi said a little mad "I taught you…"; Kakashi paused as he began to think. "Uhh… I taught you…shit" Kakashi said as he scratched his head "I taught you… patience and… teamwork".
"Oh yeah like that did any good when I was getting my ass kicked by Haku, or Kiba, or Gaara, or Orochimaru,or Lee, or Sakura last year" Naruto said and Obito looked at him.
"Seriously Kakashi; damn you suck as a sensei" Obito said making Kakashi begin to fume "I did all of that and still taught them Jutsu, taijutsu, kenjutsu".
Kakashi had a tic mark and Sakura reached over and grabbed his hand "hey, you're a great sensei" she said and Kakashi smiled "for umm… the second half; you did kinda fumble the first part".
"Damn it, not you too" Kakashi whined; just then the door opened and Koyuki's walked in 'thank god'.
Koyuki's walked in with her chief scientist "hello everyone one, sorry it took so long for me to get here" she said "now then as Naruto, Temari, Obito and Kurumi remember this is my head scientist who's name is redacted".
"Why is your name redacted" Tsunade asked and the scientist chuckled.
"If I told you… I'd have to kill you" the scientist said with an evil chuckle and Tsunade looked at him.
'He seems like a regular nerd but… looks can be deceiving' Tsunade thought.
"Any way; I'm here to show you what we've been working on" the scientist said as he pulled out 2 scrolls "the chakra armor we've been promising has been completed and will be distributed to all Suna, Kiri and Ame troops ASAP". "These two here are made specially for Naruto and Kurumi since they are… special cases".
"Woah cool" Naruto and Kurumi said excited as they ran over and grabbed the scrolls with their names.
"Go and try them on in that room and come out when you are done" the scientist said as both Naruto and Kurumi rushed into the room; Sakura looked at Temari and spoke.
"Hey aren't you worried about Naruto and Kurumi changing in the same room" Sakura said and Temari looked at her.
"Nope, not at all" Temari said "there's no reason to worry; Naruto see's Kurumi more as a guy friend… and for good reason".
Flashback; Naruto and Temari's house
Temari was in the kitchen making a snack as both Naruto and Kurumi were sitting on the couch watching tv; suddenly Naruto leaned to the side and let out a fart and Kurumi looked to him.
"Naruto; that's gross" Kurumi shouted as she punched him in the arm and Naruto chuckled; Temari rolled her eyes at Naruto's antics.
A few seconds passed and Kurumi let out a fart herself and Naruto looked at her while holding his nose "oh my, god that reeks" Naruto said while laughing and Kurumi began to laugh as well.
Temari came back in and slapped the both of them on the back of the head "will you two act like goddamn grown ups" she chastised like an angry mother.
Both Naruto and Kurumi grumbled as they turned away and Temari pinched the bridge of her nose 'idiots' she thought.
Flashback ends
"From Naruto's point of view Kurumi is more like a boy with boobs and a vagina than a 'girl'" Temari said "considering her manners and how tomboyish she is I'm not even surprised".
Both Tsunade and Sakura slapped their foreheads at this while both Obito and Kakashi chuckled.
"Who would've thought Naruto's best 'Bro' would be a woman" Kakashi said and Obito chuckled.
"Kurumi needs lessons on how to act like a lady" Tsunade said 'farting in front of guests... how vulgar'.
"Kami… even with being in a relationship with you Naruto's still a gross, immature, idiot" Sakura said and Temari nodded.
"Yeah I know, Naruto's an idiot" Temari said "but he's my idiot; it's part of his charm".
A few minutes passed and then the door to the room opened up and both Naruto and Kurumi walked out "so what do you guys think" Kurumi said as she and Naruto stood in front of them.
Naruto's armor was a sand brown armless chest plate with the generator in the spot above his heart behind reinforced glass; there were also shin guards and grieves on the forearms. "This thing is a lot lighter than i expected" Naruto said. "And this little body suit is pretty breathable too" Naruto said as he pulled out the black fabric a little from his neck.
"I was told about your 'Kurama mode' by lady Temari; so I had to use stronger materials in order to make sure it works properly" the scientist said "The body suit is to ensure your body stays cool in hot climates and warm in cold climates". "Now could you kindly activate your 'Kurama mode'" he said.
Naruto nodded and made a hand sign and he transformed into his Kurama mode; Naruto looked at his armor and saw that it turned from sand brown to black and yellow "cool" Naruto said with a smile before turning it off.
"The armor isn't much but it will assist in lessening damage from Jutsu and weapons" the scientist said. He then looked over to Kurumi who was wearing her armor.
Kurumi's armor was also sand brown but had shoulder plates and 2 rows of 3 small seals painted on either side of the chest.
"Kurumi's armor is a lot more similar to what the standard shinobi will be wearing" the scientist said "the armor is reactive to chakra and these seals are not there for decoration". The scientist picked up a standard kunai holster and put a seal on the back side of it; the scientist then put it onto Kurumi's left chest and to everyone's surprise it stuck on. "These seals act like magnets; you can attack scrolls, holsters, medical bags or whatever you want on them" the scientist said.
"What about my sword; or Naruto's fan" Kurumi asked and the scientist chuckled.
"You'll be issued out bigger seals for the attachment of bigger items and more smaller seals for anything else" the scientist said "you can put them where ever you want to maximize your load out". "Do either of you have any complaints" he asked; Naruto shook his head but Kurumi nodded.
"This thing feels a little tight" Kurumi said adjusting her front "this thing is squishing my boobs".
"The armor can be adjusted accordingly" The scientist said as he began to help Kurumi.
"Thank goodness for that" Tsunade said as she looked at her well endowed chest "I was afraid of that as well".
"Same here; at least I can adjust it" Temari said looking down at her chest.
"Yeah, good for you" Sakura said sarcastically to the 2 busty blondes next to her 'big boob problems'; Sakura looked down at her chest and felt a little self conscious. "So unfair" Sakura said and both Temari and Tsunade began to feel guilty.
"I love you just the way you are" Kakashi said grabbing her hand and making Sakura smile.
"So when will the other armor be issued out" Tsunade asked and Koyuki's smiled.
"Tomorrow for the invasion force" Koyuki said "we have a convoy ready to take the ones to Suna and Ame through Iwa and we sent a ship to Kiri yesterday".
"Well at least we get them soon" Tsunade said "we train with them for another two weeks and then we set sail for Taki.
Meanwhile at Taki; combined training grounds: With Neji
Neji was overlooking a squad of Taki and Root ninja sparring as they practiced their taijutsu; Neji has been sent over to Taki to oversee another group of ninja about to head to Kusa/Taki front.
The newest batch of root ninja were fresh recruits from the new academy; Danzo had accelerated the academy training from 4 years to three months. Due to increased training and cutting classroom lessons for more shinobi based training the ninja; along with that Fuu and Inoichi Yamanka have been using their clan Jutsu to implant training into their heads as well.
While the implanting resulted in some 'minor' behavioral issues the genin were still combat capable; as Neji overlooked the genin he head someone behind him.
"Reports Tenten" Neji said and Tenten spoke up; Tenten was not a part of root but still stayed a part of Konoha due to her loyalty to the village. Over the years Tenten has seen Neji grow more cold and angry and she was worried as she hadn't seen him in a while; so far she has been trying to bring out the Neji she knew, but she hasn't seen any progress.
"All five hundred root genin are stocked" Tenten said looking at her list "each one will be issued twenty shuriken, ten kunai, one sword, paper bombs, medical kits, and four days of food and water".
"Excellent; you're doing well as my new quarter master" Neji said as he didn't even bother turning around "any thing else Tenten".
Tenten hesitated before speaking "I'm worried about you Neji; you haven't been well in a long time… you changed" she said.
"I have changed for the better" Neji said turning around and looking at her "when we were on the same team I was a chained dog to the main branch"; Neji proceeded to take off his forehead protector and showed his curse mark free skin. "Now I'm a commander to Lord Danzo and the new heir to the Hyuga clan" Neji said "all thanks to Lord Danzo and his leadership".
"But you've grown colder Neji" Tenten said "you pushed away everyone but Shikamaru and Kiba and you see everyone but them as a number". "Do you still have any compassion for me… I was your friend" Tenten asked; Neji didn't speak for a few seconds until he tied back on his forehead protector.
"No, I don't" Neji said coldly "you are my quarter master, nothing more"; Neji turned back to the genin and spoke. "And when you address me it's either commander Hyuga or sir… is that clear" Neji said.
"Yes… sir" Tenten said saddened before walking away; Neji felt a little bit of guilt but squashed it down.
'I've been kept down my whole life by Hiashi and the main branch' Neji thought 'it was fate that brought me to lord Danzo'. 'And once this war is over Danzo will finally let me fulfill my destiny' Neji's gaze grew darker as he thought about it 'taking off that curse mark will be your downfall Hiashi; I will ensure you and the rest of the main branch die for your years of mistreatment'.
Neji raised up his voice "stop all training" he ordered and everyone stopped "all root genin will report to training ground five for water Jutsu training". The genin began to leave the area and Neji watched on 'I will be leading these genin into battle soon; they better not let me down' he thought as he began to walk away 'I better get ready for the next batch of replacements; they should be here in a few days'.
2 weeks later; Taki Northern coast at night
2 Taki ninja were looking at the open ocean smoking cigarettes as they scanned for any enemies; both of them however didn't think that was possible since Taki had mined the waters off the coast preventing anyone from sailing close.
"Can you believe this shit; sitting out here with our asses hanging out" a Taki ninja said "this sucks".
"Could be worse; we could've been in that invasion to Kiri, or at the southern front" the other Taki ninja said.
"Yeah fuck that" the first ninja said "but still it's boring as shit out here; I mean we mined five whole miles of ocean, no way anyone can sail close".
"Yeah I bet" came a voice behind them; both men turned around and saw Naruto standing there with a smile on his face "lucky for us we have a solution to that".
Both ninja got up ready to fight but both suddenly had their heads fall off their shoulders as both of their bodies hit the floor; Obito and Kurumi appeared behind them with Kurumi's sword shining in the moon light. Both Obito and Kurumi were wearing their new chakra armor as they came into view.
"That was cool" Naruto said to Kurumi and Obito "thanks for using Kamui to get us over here".
"No problem" Obito said; off to the left Kakashi appeared. Kakashi was wearing his version of the armor which was colored black in order to differentiate from Suna's brown and Spring's color of light blue.
"Left flank secure; 2 sentries dead" Kakashi said "hopefully the right flank is-"; suddenly a horribly disfigured body of a Taki ninja came flying through the air and hit a tree splattering all over the place. "Sweet Kami above" Kakashi shouted in horror as he wiped some blood that was on him.
"Whoops, I hit him a little too hard" Tsunade said as she walked over from the right; Tsunade was wearing her armor which was slightly modified due to her bust "right flank is secure; took out eight of them actually".
"Glad you came along granny; but you're the leader of this invasion, why come with us" Naruto asked and Tsunade smirked.
"A good leader, much like a good Hokage, always leads from the front" Tsunade said and both Naruto and Kurumi nodded "besides I hated being cooped up in my cabin; I haven't gotten any exercise in two days".
"Alright the beach is secure; time to call in everyone else" Obito said as he took out a flashlight; Obito began to flash in Morse code out to the open ocean. A few seconds after he did a message came back "ok here comes the rest of them" he said.
All five of them waited as they looked out to the see; as they did they saw the ocean being to freeze over and Naruto smiled "show offs; lets go meet them" he said as he and the others went down to the beach.
Upon reaching the beach the ice was getting closer and they saw Katsu along with over a dozen spring shinobi creating a bridge made of ice to bring along the invasion force.
"I don't get payed enough for this shit" Katsu said as she reached the shore; behind her the invasion force of Spring, Suna and a contingent of rogue Konoha ninja. Katsu walked ashore and walked up to Tsunade "five hundred spring, two hundred Suna and one hundred Konoha shinobi successfully brought to shore" she said.
"Good; now all we have to do is move inland and meet with Kumo at the rally point" Tsunade said and Katsu nodded.
Naruto looked around until he saw Temari, Sakura, Lee, Hinata, Guy and Shibi Aburame come over "Hey babe" Temari said giving Naruto a quick kiss "any trouble".
"A few sentries, nothing major" Naruto said "how you like the armor".
"Now bad, a lot more comfy than I thought it'd be" Temari said and Naruto smiled.
"Ok people; lets move out; Kumo has probably already landed and heading inland" Tsunade said to the amassing ninja "break up into platoons of forty and move out". Tsunade got her platoon consisting of Naruto and the others and began to move inland under the cover of darkness.
3 days later at midnight; outside Taki: With Naruto, Temari, Tsunade Yugito and Katsu
"Kami above" Naruto said as he looked through his binoculars while hiding trees with the others at the outside of Taki "how the hell are we suppose to get in there". Naruto and the others were looking at the main entrance of Taki which was unbelievable.
The entrance of the village was a giant waterfall that was well over 100 feet high and had water running down the side at an incredible force; there was a large moat surrounding the village and nothing but a single walkway across to there the entrance was. The entrance itself was defended by over 100 Taki ninja all armed to the teeth and looked to be either chunun or jonin level in skill.
"This is getting annoying" Yugito said speaking up "there is no way we can get through without raising the alarm".
Yugito was sent with 1000 Kumo ninja to assist with the invasion and was placed as the commander of the operation; the plan according to A was to take Taki and once Taki was taken wait for a larger force of Kumo Nina to arrive to go and invade Oto. So far she was having doubts about getting inside the village.
"I agree" Tsunade said making everyone look at her "so it looks like we are going to have to go in loud and fast".
"And you called me reckless" Naruto said before getting a smack to the back of the head by Tsunade.
"Listen to my plan brat" Tsunade said and Naruto grumbled "we will attack the entrance with force; then once we take the entrance we will make our own enterance". Everyone looked at her like she was crazy.
" What do you mean our own enterance" Temari asked confused.
"Katsu; how many of your ninja will it take to freeze enough water to make a tunnel we can walk through" Tsunade asked and Katsu went into thought.
"You said the entrance is about a half a mile long right" Katsu said and Tsunade nodded "I'd say it'll take about 40 ninja to create it and they could probably hold it for about ten minutes". "With the amount of water coming down on it, it'll use a lot of chakra to maintain" Katsu said "so if we do that we'll need to move in as many people inside as possible".
"But there has to be people at the other end" Naruto said speaking up "even if we work fast it'll still take up a shit load of time to move nearly two thousand people through".
"He's right; so we need to think of something" Temari said and Tsunade spoke up.
"Taki only seals it from the outside to hold off invaders; there is a special Jutsu to hold back the waterfall" Tsunade said "when I was here last time there was a water control station; you turn some valves and it changes the flow of the water allowing people from inside to leave".
"So it's like how a dam works" Yugito said and Tsunade nodded.
"Yes in a sense" Tsunade said.
"Ok and after we take the gate and everybody goes inside what next" Naruto asked.
"We each attack a place of important value" Tsunade said "I will go with a squad consisting of Kakashi, Sakura and several others to secure the village tower". "Naruto, you'll take Kurumi, Obito and some ninja to go and find the barracks" Tsunade said and Naruto nodded "you'll take it and kill everyone who doesn't surrender".
"Katsu will go and take the armory; preventing them from getting resupplied" Tsunade said and Katsu nodded "Guy with you to ensure you have a good second in command".
"Yugito will go and take the hospital; that'll cut them off from helping their wounded" Tsunade said and Yugito nodded; Tsunade felt bad as a medic she knew it was wrong "but do not kill any of the staff or the wounded; I don't want any unnecessary killing". "Take Hinata and Lee with you as well" Tsunade said.
"Lastly I want Temari to go and take over the academy" Tsunade said and Temari nodded "in the case of an emergency a village will fall back to the academy to make a last stand; if we capture it then we would be cutting off a possible rally point for any stragglers".
"Ok then; lets head back and inform the others" Tsunade said as she and her group slipped away.
The next morning
Naruto was next to Temari, Obito and Kurumi as they waited for the order to attack as the stared at the entrance that was less than 200 yards away; Naruto was going in with the attack group to eliminate the ninja guarding the entrance.
The group consisted of himself, Temari, Obito, Kurumi, Kakashi, Guy, Lee and Shibi Aburame; Naruto and Temari were responsible for initiating the assault.
Naruto's hand was shaking as he reached down and grabbed his canteen; he opened it and drank some water before closing it back up and putting it away.
"You nervous" Temari asked and Naruto nodded.
"A little" Naruto said; Temari reached out and grabbed his hand giving it a gentle squeeze.
"We'll be fine; we've been through worse" Temari said and Naruto nodded.
"Yeah we have" Naruto said; Naruto leaned in and kissed Temari making her smile and blush. Suddenly a crack on their ear pieces rang as Tsunade's voice came over.
"Initiate the attack" Tsunade said and both Naruto and Temari stood up while grabbing their fans and walking out; both of them opened their fans and brought them back. Naruto and Temari charged their chakra before they both swung their fans.
"Wind Combine Jutsu" Naruto and Temari shouted as they launched their first Jutsu, beginning the invasion of Takigakure.
