And welcome back again for another chapter thanks for the support Dante687 your right I do see the resemblance between the two unlike that despicable toxic bitch Labilla; I will take that into consideration. And Green248 maybe Wendy can be like a big sister figure to Chelia who I just found out who's name is actually Sherria. Yogaratw607 I'll take a look at those stories, maybe I'll get some inspiration. For Natsu and Lisanna pairing I like the idea. Now let's dive into the story.
Chp 3: Obsidian Fog
Somewhere in an eerie dark building it was a guild hall and inside a dark eerie man wearing a red hooded robe made his way towards a case and pulled out a vial of purple liquid."It's time to pick up where Cassidy failed. You all understand the assignment, yes?" He asked handing the vial over to three silhouetted figures. They nodded before vanishing quickly.
The next day at dawn the four silhouetted figures stood above a tall building with the vial in hand ready to put their plan in action.
"It's time to go ahead and release the fog." Spoke the first figure in a gentlemen's accent.
"Sure thing spoke the other figure with a feminine voice." She opened the vial and the liquid came out as heavy fog wafting through the air in all of magnolia. The three turned towards the fourth member. "Alright, you know your assignment, go."
In another spot of town Zodie was at solace gate park wearing white oversized shirt with purple sleeves and black pants with tribal patterns on them. He also had on black shoes; he was currently waiting for Wendy and Carla but they hadn't showed up yet.
"Maybe I should've flown over to get them."
"Hey Zodie."
He looked up and saw the girls heading towards them.
"Sorry we're late." Wendy said.
"She overslept." Carla chided.
"Carla!"
"No worries girls."
"Hey Zodie, is it okay if we stop at the bookstore? I wanted to grab something when I first came here but didn't have time because the train would depart."
"Sure no prob let's go, you know your way?"
"Uh huh."
As the trio cleared the park the mist began to roll in consuming the area.
In another area Erza was currently in a bakery picking up a strawberry cake. It was her usual spot she'd always pick some up for new members. It was a tradition and other times it was to satisfy her sweet tooth. The redhead had walked out the bakery and headed towards Fairytail as she was walking she noticed that some fog rolled in.
"Where did this come from?" Suddenly she began to grow tense and sweaty. She grabbed her head in pain. "Wh…what's happening to me!?"
Back with the Caitshelter trio they had just exited the bookstore with some books.
"Hey Zodie what genre did you find?" Wendy asked.
"Horror novels, Levy gave me some good recommendations yesterday can't wait to start reading them."
Carla started to notice that it was weirdly quiet in the streets and nobody was roaming around.
"Something wrong Carla?" Wendy asked.
"Where is everyone? It's way too quiet out here."
Zodie then noticed someone somebody up ahead upon closer inspection he saw it was a girl with dark brown skin with a curly bob with blue streaks going through it. She was wearing a red gothic Lolita dress with black boots. She was unconscious and laying up against a street pole. "Hey girls there's some else out here." The trio ran up to her to check on the girl.
"Is she okay? I'll use my healing magic." Wendy began using her healing spell before the girl opened her eyes. "Are you ok?"
"Y…yeah I'm fine thanks to you now, I was just a little light headed." Zodie helped her up to her feet and introduced herself. "Hey up name's Juno."
"I'm Zodie McKnight."
"And I'm Wendy Marevell, this is Carla."
"If you don't mind asking what were you doing out here?" Asked Zodie.
"I was just roaming around the city till I became a bit dizzy, that's when I met you blokes."
"Maybe you just need something to eat. Why don't you come with us to our guild, we're part of Fairy tail." Said Zodie.
"Oh I know." Replied Juno.
The three looked at her weirdly, their faces saying how she knew, Juno caught onto this. "Oh because of your guild marks." That was enough to put them at ease. "Anywho that sounds good I'll take you up on your offer." Carla couldn't help but feel suspicious of the girl.
The group made their way to the fairy tail guild only to find that it was empty.
"Where is everyone Wendy asked.?"
Zodie sprouted his wings and flew up to the upper floor of the guild, there was nobody else there either. "There's no one upstairs."
"Do you think they're having a surprise party or something?" Wendy asked.
Before anyone could answer, the brunette noticed Lucy with her back turned. "Oh Lucy, hey there you are, where is everyone?"
The blonde slowly turned around and gazed at the three but something was different, Lucy said nothing and her eyes were purple and she had no expression on her face.
"Ugh Lucy are you okay?"
Suddenly without warning Lucy lashed ready to strike Wendy when suddenly Zodie pushed her aside and caught Lucy's fist. "Lucy what're you doing?" Zodie asked. But the celestial wizard remained silent. She was ready to strike again when Zodie quickly ducked and leg swept Lucy making her fall on her back.
"Sorry about that, are you okay?"
Lucy immediately shot herself up back to her feet and gave the trio a menacing smile, she then sprinted towards Zodie attacking him while he fended her off.
"Lucy what's gotten into you?" Zodie flipped onto a table and Lucy slammed the heel of her foot on it breaking it. "Wow Lucy, were you always this strong?"
"What's going on, why is Lucy attacking Zodie?" Wendy asked.
"I don't know but I have a bad feeling something weird is going on."
The girls then looked behind them to see both Natsu and Happy Wendy immediately ran over to them. "Guys something's wrong with Lucy she just started attacking Zodie for some reason." Natsu then grabbed Wendy by the wrist and gave her a tight grip. "Natsu you're hurting me what're yo-?" The sky maiden then noticed that Natsu and Happy both had the same purple eyes as Lucy. The salamander then lit his other hand on fire getting ready to strike Wendy.
"Hey get your hands off her right now." Carla was ready to step in but was apprehended by Happy.
Zodie noticed Wendy was in trouble so he leaped over Lucy and flew over and struck Natsu in the face with a kick sending him flying. Happy then flew onto Zodies face before he threw the blue cat off onto Lucy.
"You girls okay?"
"Yeah, thanks." Wendy said.
"Is this how your guild greets you or what?" Asked Juno.
"Nope." Replied Zodie.
Natsu and Lucy and Happy all rose to their feet and began to lumber towards them all with menacing smiles on their faces.
"Guys what's happening to you snap out of it!" Wendy pleaded.
It wasn't just them, all the other members of the guild began to appear and they all had the same look in their eyes just as Natsu Lucy and Happy had.
"Anyone got a plan?" Zodie asked.
"I vote we run, we don't stand a chance against the whole guild " Carla said. After nodding in agreement the trio sprinted towards the door only to see Erza standing in front of them.
"Erza, we're glad to see you, everyone is possessed-."
To their dismay Erza was under the same influence as the others she drew her sword and was ready to swipe at them if it wasn't for a steel beam intercepting her attack followed by being trapped in a spear of water to her neck. They saw that it was Gajeel and Juvia.
"Gajeel Juvia!" Both Wendy and Zodie said.
"Move it all of you!" He ordered.
They did as instructed and ran Natsu blast a shot of fire at them but Gajeel was ready. "Water cyclone!" Juvia launched a torrent of water and it collided with Natsu's creating a thick cover of smoke, when it cleared Gajeel and Juvia were already gone.
The Caitshelter trio and Juno kept running; they didn't know where to run because Gajeel didn't give specifics; they just kept going till they stopped at South Gate park.
"Ok forgive my language but what the hell is going on!?" Juno exclaimed.
"Perhaps the fairy tail guild wasn't all it was cracked up to be and its members were just phonies." Carla stated.
"Maybe Natsu didn't get rid of all the food parasites left by Maurice." Zodie said.
"No that can't be if that were the case i'd be able to smell it, something has to be going on here." Wendy said.
"You are exactly right Wendy." Said Juvia walking up to them. The rain woman noticed Juno. "Oh hello, who's this new friend?"
"This is Juno, we just met her." Answered Wendy.
"Care to elaborate on what's going on!" Said Carla.
"They're all under some kind of spell," the group looked up to see Gajeel up in a tree. "It's gotta have something to do with that weird fog."
"Fog?" Zodie asked.
"The two of us were heading toward the guild when all of a sudden this fog rolls in. We had a bad feeling about it so we evaded, once it cleared we began to investigate." Juvia explained.
"We Barely noticed some citizens were acting crazy and they started to attack us, so we raced over to fairy tail and low behold we found you there in trouble which proved my suspicion that the whole guild was under control." Gajeel finished.
"How was it that you four weren't affected?" Juvia asked.
"We're at the library. We didn't know about it until now." Wendy answered.
"But the question is who unleashed the fog?" Zodie asked.
"Why that'd be us."
The group looked up and saw the same cloaked silhouetted cloaked figures standing a good distance from each removed their cloaks to reveal two males and one female. The first male was a tall man wearing a hazmat mask with a chemical resistant apron bib to over his bare body1 brown shorts and red boots along with green gloves. The second male was short and heavy set with purple skin and red circular sunglasses with short purple hair, he wore a purple button up vest with black diamond shapes on it with a purple jacket to cover along with a purple slacks with white stripes. The female had long pink hair with black streaks and yellow eyes, she wore a long violet cheongsam dress with slit on her right side with dark high heels and shoulder length gloves. Each member sported a guild mark with a melting skeleton on them.
Upon seeing their marks Carla instantly recognized them. "Zodie Carla looks at their marks."
In doing so they instantly recognized the guild mark. "These guys are from Putrid Carnage!" Zodie said.
"You three recognize them?" Asked Juvia.
"Indeed we dealt with them a while back in Caitshelter." Carla answered.
"One of their members unleashed a creature to attack those with magic power." Wendy said.
"Indeed my name is Mostaza, these are all my associates,the cayó in all purple is Wallace, and the lovely chica is Lady mo'o."
"And together we're Putrid carnage's most dangerous members, the three hands of toxic." Said Wallace.
"What'd you do to our guild mates?!" Wendy asked.
"Oh relax sweetie, that's just the effect from the obsidian fog, anyone who breathes it will become mind controlled servants who will attack anyone not in our guild." Mo'o explained.
"Yeah we'll as long as we stay away from your fog there's hope."
"Oh it's no issue kid, we just wanted the pleasure of taking care of you for ourselves."
"That's so!" Gajeel leaped toward ready for an attack when suddenly Mo'o unleashed a two conjoined lashes of fire and acid making Gajeel go into defense by covering himself in his iron scales which didn't help as they burned through his scales. "What the hell…it burned through my iron."
Mo'o was ready to attack once more but Juvia made her own lash of water to intercept it. "Water cyclone." She blasted the group with a blast of water but Wallace got in front of the spell and expanded his body making the attack bounce right off. "What but how." Juvia said, shocked. Wallace then had glowing Spikes grow from him and he launched them at the group of fairies. The group evaded the attacks all but Juvia.
"Juvia move, don't let those things hit you!" Wendy shouted.
"Not to worry my body is made completely of water so physical attacks wi-." One of the spikes had grazed the water mages arm sending g sharp pain throughout out her body. Juvia grasped her arm and yelled out in pain. "B…but how?"
"My turn, you two get back." Mostaza then released a large stream of gas.
"Oh crap come on we gotta get out of here, My senses are tellin me that gas is bad news." Gajeel said.
With that the group of wizards made a hasty retreat.
"Should we go after them?" Wallace asked.
"Don't worry about them, amigo, with all their Allie's under our control they won't pose much of a threat to us."
The remaining group of fairies regrouped inside an old boarded building in town. Wendy was currently using her healing magic on Gajeel's arm while Juvia and Zodie kept watch outside with Juno sitting alone in the corner.
"This is bad, everyone in town is under the fog's influence and we're outnumbered by our guild mates." Juvia said.
"For now we need to lay low here and come up with a plan." Carla said.
"A plan on how we're going to turn everybody back." Zodie said.
"What the hell is this fog stuff anyway, you three runts dealt with these guys before so I'm sure you know something right?" Gajeel asked.
"We have, but nothing like this if only there was some way we can get intel from them." Carla said.
Then suddenly an idea jolted through Zodies head. "Carla you're right and luckily there's somebody who can give us that intel, someone we help put away."
"Are you talking about Cassidy?"
"Are you saying we go over and pay Cassidy a visit and tell us how to stop the fog?" Wendy asked.
"Exactly!"
"That's a good idea, child but I doubt he'll willingly tell us how."
"No problem, if we just beat it out of him he'll talk, we get the info we need and we turn everybody back to normal, what do you guys think?"
Gajeel gave off a toothy grin. "I like the way you think kid , let's find this clown then."
"Yes I must turn my beloved Gray back and those scoundrels will all pay!" Juvia said, giving off a sinister energy.
"R…right anyway we just need to find a way to sneak out of the city and stay low, Since Natsu's been turned he'll be able to sniff us out." Wendy said.
"No problem squirt I know a way out, just follow me." Gajeel said.
The group along with Juno had reached the outskirts of magnolia; they figured she'd be safe with them.
"Alright we're almost home free."
But right as they reached the exit of the town they were literally stopped by an invisible wall. They looked up at it and it was covered with strange writing, Gajeel recognized this and was mildly annoyed."Are you freaking kidding me, those bastards put up enchantments to keep us from leaving!"
"This was probably Fried's work. I had a feeling he had fallen victim to the fog." Juvia said.
"Actually on the contrary." The group looked and saw flying letter's moving before revealing Fried Justine, a man with waist length green hair with bangs. He wore a dark red knee-length double-breasted coat with white boots.
"Fried where've you been, we thought you had been turned." Said Juvia.
"I was actually running some errands when I saw fog, I had sensed something ominous about it so I put up an enchantment to protect myself, I had spotted you a lot at the guild hall where everyone else was infected."
"Do you think you can take this enchantment down, Fried?" Wendy asked.
"No problem, I shall get on it at once." Friend immediately began to get to work on the enchantment
Suddenly a wave of ice shot towards the group Gajeel acted fast and blocked the attack. The attacker was none other than Gray with a demonic grin on his face, but he wasn't alone; he was joined with the rest of team Natsu. They crept closer towards them ready to attack, Zodie and his group took fighting stances. "Juno stay with Fried.!" The Phoenix child ordered.
"Looks like we got company." Gajeel said. "We got to work on that enchantment." Natsu shot forward towards Gajeel with his fist covered in fire. The iron dragon blocked the attack before slamming his fist into Natsu's face, sending him flying and hitting Gray.
"Gray no my darling!" Juvia ran over and cradled him in her arms. Suddenly he grabbed her rust hard, squeezing it.
Zodie flew over and nailed Gray in the face with a punch making him release Juvia. "Juvia you ok?"
"Y…yes, yes thank you , sorry I shou- watch out." The water woman protected Zodie from an oncoming attack from Erza.
Meanwhile Lucy was attacking Wendy with kicks which the sky dragon did her best to dodge. The possessed blonde took out her whip and lashed it out towards Wendy only for it to be caught onto Zodies wrist. They tugged each other for a while before Zodie whipped out his dagger and cut the whip. "Wendy, do it now!"
"Sorry Lucy, Sky dragon roooaar." A huge stream of wind shot towards Lucy sending her flying into Erza whom she caught and tossed her side.
Erza with her sword drawn was inching toward the kids sending fear through their veins. Juvia came in to defend them with a water cyclone but was repelled. Gajeel was too busy dealing with Gray and Natsu to assist them. Right before Erza could attack she was intercepted by Fried and his sword.
"Go the enchantment is down, now's your chance!"
"Wait but what about you, we can't leave you!" Cried Wendy.
"Child we have to go now, get a move on!" Carla said.
Gajeel hoisted Wendy up on his shoulder and made a run for it. "Come on squirt we need to go now!" Zodie Juvia and Carla ran after him while fried held team Natsu back.
The thunder legion member drew his sword ready for a grueling battle. "Not to quote one of my favorite stories but, you shall not pass!"
The five wizards and Juno ran through the outskirts; Gajeel finally let Wendy off his shoulders so she could run.
"Which way is the prison anyway?" Zodie asked.
"Leave that to me I know where it's at." Gajeel said.
"And just how do you know that?" Carla asked.
"Let's just say I didn't have a choice for my first visit and that's as much as I'm saying."
"In any case we know what we have to do. Let's get over to the council and get answers from Cassidy!" Zodie said.
And that's it for this chapter looks like putrid Carnage is back and up to no good. I got the idea of the obsidian fog from the Dragon Ball Z story arc, The black water mist and thought this was the perfect opportunity to bring in Gajeel and Juvia so they can associate with Zodie and Wendy; Gajeel needs more screen time in my opinion he's cooler than Natsu. Anyway more to come stay well
