Prompt by AshleyAnn "Donna attempting to cook and failing (and Harvey laughing at her for that), but with a twist; she's cooking for their baby.
Like Father, Like Daughter
Donna groaned as the baby kept crying for food. "Ok, baby- mommy's making it I swear it'll be worth the wait. Mm apple sauce and some Mac and cheese- all the things a baby wants!" Donna cooed as she plated the food and walked up to Lyla's high chair.
Donna smiled, removing the small flyaway strawberry blond colored hairs off her baby's forehead, before setting the plate down. "C'mon Lyla say ahhh!"
Lyla opened her mouth greedily awaiting the spoon and just as her little pouty lips wrapped around the pink plastic spoon, Lyla frowned, her furrowed brow reminiscent of her dad before she scrunched up her nose in disgust, brown wide eyes furious as she spit the food out dribbling it all over her chin.
"Tpleh!" Lyla babbled her tiny chubby little palms slamming on the table further expressing her hatred on what she just ate.
"Demanding I see." Donna sighed as she stared at Lyla who looked two seconds away from throwing a temper tantrum.
"You are so your father's daughter." She mumbled.
"What about me?" Harvey snuck behind her, placing a gentle kiss on the side of her neck as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Your daughter's putting up a fuss over my cooking." Donna grumbled.
Harvey snickered looking at the mess Lyla was making as she banged food around and babbled nonsensically, making eye contact with him as if waiting a response to her string of "daba ladab oh"
"Maybe she's not that hungry?"
"She was crying for food Harvey."
"Well, let's see what the fuss is about." Harvey stole a bit of mac and cheese and struggled not to gag himself. He swallowed the bite down wincing slightly at how Donna managed to make the pasta feel congealed wet and weirdly solidified at the same time. The cheese is ksomehow stringy and lacking any taste at all besides half a kilo of salt.
Harvey coughed before speaking up "god Donna you're gonna give our three year old high cholesterol."
Donna smacked his chest "be serious. It can't be that bad." Harvey cocked his head to the side before handing her some mac and cheese to try.
Donna raised her brows and took a bite rolling her eyes and shrugging her shoulder as if to say see it's fine except the second the food hit her taste buds Donna grimaced before walking away to gulp her glass of water.
Harvey snickered at her reaction before picking Lyla up who looked bored with playing with her food and annoyed she wasn't the center of attention. "See Lyla, this is why you shouldn't be too cocky, because then you'll be like mommy eating your own words."
Harvey tickled her tummy and received a giggle out of Lyla he'd have moved mountains to hear again.
Luckily, Lyla was an easy audience. He glanced at the clock and realized they really needed to feed her soon before she got cranky.
"Maybe I'll stick to creating food for the baby." Harvey said as he began grabbing another box of Auntie Ann's to make a new batch of pasta, not quite sure how gonna screwed up already prepared food.
"I don't get it I used to be so good at this I was the one who made her food the first few years, and she never rejected it." Donna mumbled in defeat as she began cleaning up Lyla's mess.
"Yeah, when it was coming out of your boobs." Harvey mumbled.
"What was that?"
"What?" Harvey feigned ignorance.
"Boob!" Lyla exclaimed happily clapping her hands and Harvey squeezed the side of her thigh as he jostled her against his hip laughing at the first coherent word she said in the past hour. "Guess she's missing some of her favorite food." Harvey joked and Donna rolled her eyes.
"So your daughter."
