It's a Welcome Home, Charlie Brown

Chapter 1: Cute as a Puppy

It was another afternoon at the Peanuts Gang's school, and out on the playground, Jason, Julie, Carlos, Charlie Brown, Heather, Lucy, Linus, Rerun, Sally, Violet, Schroeder and Snoopy were all playing together while Lila watched on. Being the new girl, Lila was a bit nervous to join the game, but it looked fun.

Barney's Friends and Peanuts Gang:

Little red caboose

Chug-chug-chug!

Little red caboose

Chug-chug-chug!

Little red caboose

Behind the train, train, train.

Smokestack on its back, back, back

Coming down the track, track, track.

Little red caboose behind the train.

WHOOOOO! WHOOOOOOO!

Little red caboose

Chug-chug-chug!

Little red caboose

Chug-chug-chug!

Little red caboose

Behind the train, train, train.

Smokestack on its back, back, back

Coming down the track, track, track.

Little red caboose behind the train.

WHOOOOO! WHOOOOOOO!

"Lila, come join!" Sally called out. With a nervous smile, Lila walked over to join the kids' game.

"That was interesting..." Lila said.

Sally smiled "You'll get used to more of our fast-paced games, Lila."

"Hey, look!" Julie smiled "The basket is down from the treehouse."

"And it's full!" Violet said, looking through it. "Wooden planks and a stuffed duckling...great..."

"I wonder what these wooden planks are for..." Jason commented.

"Maybe somebody's up there?" Lila shrugged and picked up Webster from the basket. "Hi there little guy. What's a duckling like you doing in there?"

Lucy huffed and she walked over to ring the treehouse phone "HELLO? ANY BLOCKHEAD UP THERE?"

"Well?" asked Carlos.

"No answer." Lucy replied.

"Maybe they're hiding." Rerun reasoned.

"COME ON DOWN, WHOEVER YOU ARE!" Lucy shouted. "WE KNOW YOU'RE UP THERE!"

"Do you have to raise your voice?" asked Lila.

"It's the only one to get your voice heard, around here." Lucy said.

Just then, the Barney doll came to amazing life. "BARNEY!" the kids exclaimed.

"Hi there. What's going on?" Barney asked. He knowingly looked at Lucy "And what's all the shouting about?"

"We saw the basket and thought someone was up in the treehouse." Jason explained.

"Right." Linus said.

"But nobody's answering." Jason added on.

"So Lucy's been shouting..." Carlos commented.

"Well SOMEBODY left the basket down." Barney acknowledged.

Snoopy shrugged. "I wonder who, too." Lila said.

As the kids stared at the treehouse, they saw Shawn walk by. "Let's see, hammer, nails, pencil, book-"

"Hi, Shawn!" Heather greeted.

"What're you doing?" wondered Julie.

"What's all that stuff?" asked Jason.

"Just a minute, I'm making sure I have everything for my project." Shawn explained. "Uh oh, I forgot string. Do any of you have any string?"

Carlos smiled. "I might have some!"

"You do?" the seven year redhead old smiled.

And Carlos looked through his pockets before finding the longest piece of string ever.

"That's perfect." Shawn smiled. "That's just what I need. Thanks."

"You're welcome." Carlos said.

"All About Birds..." Lucy read the cover of the book Shawn had. "Here you go."

"Thanks, Lucy." Shawn replied.

"You're welcome."

"Where'd you get all these things?" wondered Schroeder.

"It's just stuff nobody wants anymore." Shawn explained. "So I'm gonna make something new with it."

"You mean unicycle it?" Rerun asked.

"REcycle." Shawn corrected.

"So what're you making?" asked Julie.

Shawn winked "It's a surprise."

"Come on, Shawn. Tell us what it is!" Sally begged.

"It's something I'm making for the treehouse." Shawn explained. "You can come up and see it when I'm finished." He then looked at the treehouse. "Which reminds me..."

The kids and Barney all looked at each other, confused.

"MARCIE! YOU MIGHT WANNA COME DOWN FROM THERE!" Shawn called out. "I'M MAKING A SURPRISE!"

"OK!" Marcie called back as she hurried downstairs, then Shawn went upstairs.

"Let us know if you need any help." Linus said.

"OK! Thanks!" Shawn called out.

"Remember to be careful up there!" Barney called out.

"I will, Barney!" Shawn called back as Marcie approached her friends.

"Has anybody seen Webster?" Marcie asked.

"Webster?" Lila asked, confused.

"Her stuffed toy duck." Heather explained.

"Oh. I guess this is yours." Lila said, handing Webster back to Marcie. The basket then went up to the treehouse.

"I wonder what he's making up there." Barney bubbled with excitement. Then, they all heard the sound of a hammer. "Oh, listen! There he goes!"

"I'd like to get a hammer and build something too." Linus smiled.

"Me too. It's fun to hammer." Jason smiled.

Barney, Barney's Friends, and Peanuts Gang:

Johnny works with one hammer.

One hammer, one hammer.

Johnny works with one hammer,

then he works with two.

Johnny works with two hammers.

Two hammers, two hammers.

Johnny works with two hammers,

then he works with three.

Johnny works with three hammers.

Three hammers, three hammers.

Johnny works with three hammers,

then he works with four.

Johnny works with four hammers.

Four hammers, four hammers.

Johnny works with four hammers,

then he works no more.

Johnny works with five hammers.

Five hammers, five hammers.

Johnny works with five hammers,

then he works no more.

Just then, Min approached her friends with something in a box. "Hi everyone." Min smiled.

"Hi Min!" everyone smiled.

"Look at what I got." Min smiled, showing off a cute little puppy.

"A PUPPY!" Lila happily exclaimed.

"I just love puppies." Barney said.

"Is it okay if I hold him?" Charlie Brown asked.

Min nodded. "Of course. I know how much you love dogs, Charlie Brown."

"What's his name?" Julie asked.

"Well, I haven't named him." Min confessed.

"How about Cuddles?" Jason asked.

"Well he IS very cuddly." Charlie Brown explained.

"He is pretty small." Sally noticed.

"How about-" Marcie began, hugging Webster.

"Charles Dickens? George Orwell? Leo Tolstoy? F. Scott Fitzgerald?" Linus guessed.

"Oxford? Meriam? Thesaurus?" Lucy teased.

Marcie laughed "I was gonna say 'Patches'."

"Thank goodness." Min joked.

"How about Wee Willy Winkie?" Lila asked. "Like the nursery rhyme?"

"That's cute, Lila; but I think three names are too many." Min explained.

"Willy for short, then."

"Sniffy. How's that for a good name?" Charlie Brown asked. Everyone looked at him. "Or not..."

"I know! How about Bingo?" Carlos spoke up.

"Now THAT'S a good idea!" Linus replied.

Carlos and Linus:

There was a farmer had a dog

And BINGO was his name-o
