Chapter 2: Home Wanted
"I don't know. Bingo doesn't seem right for him." Min shrugged.
"Maybe not. Where did you get him from anyway?" Linus asked.
"My dog Princess had six puppies." Min smiled.
"Where are the rest of them?" Lila asked.
"I gave them to people with good homes." Min explained. "I want to find a home for this one too."
"Why don't you keep him, Min?" Jason asked.
"I already have a dog, a parakeet, and a cat. I couldn't take care of anymore pets." Min said. "Would you like to adopt him?"
"Adopt him?" Sally asked, confused.
"That means take him home and make him part of your family." Julie explained.
"Oh." Sally realized.
"I know about adoption because I was adopted." Julie said.
"You were? How did you get adopted?" Lucy asked.
Julie smiled "When I was a baby, I didn't have a family to belong to. And my mom and dad wanted another baby, so they took me home and made me a part of their family."
"Does being adopted make you different?" Rerun asked.
"RERUN!" Lucy scolded.
"Don't worry, Lucy." Julie looked at the four year old. "No, Rerun, it doesn't make me different. I just became a part of my family in a different way. And that's okay with me. Because I love my mom and dad and they love me."
"And love is what really makes a family." Barney said.
"May I hold the puppy, Min?" Lila asked, nervously.
"Sure, Lila." Min replied.
"THANKS!" Lila smiled.
Julie:
Oh, a family is people and a family is love.
That's a family.
Barney, Barney's Friends and Peanuts Gang (except Lila):
They come in all different sizes and different kinds,
But mine's just right for me.

Carlos, Linus and Schroeder:
I've got a friend who lives with his mom and dad,
With his brother and sister, too.
They've got a cat, a dog and a pet bullfrog
And I'm really glad they do.
Min, Violet and Lucy:
There's a girl I know who lives with her mom.
Her dad lives far away.
Although she sees her parents just one at a time,
They both love her everyday.

Jason and Charlie Brown:
I know a boy who's new, he just moved in.
He moved from Alabama.
And the person who's the head of his family,
is his loving, dear old grandma.

"I sure wish I could have a puppy." Carlos smiled "But I can't."
"How come?" Rerun asked.
"My parents said I have to wait until my birthday, to get one."
"Oh, I was hoping one of you might adopt the puppy." Min sighed. "I know you'd all take good care of him."
"Lucy, Linus, can we-" Rerun began.
"NO!" Lucy ordered.
"Let's wait a bit. At least until AFTER your birthday." Linus suggested.
"I already have a dog." Jason explained.
"And I have a cat at home. And a tank of goldfish." Marcie explained.
"I used to have a cat, but then we couldn't take care of him." Lila explained.
"My mom said I could get a pet." Julie spoke up. "But I was thinking about getting a cat."
"And I already have Snoopy to take care of." Charlie Brown said.
"I don't know what to do now." Min sighed. "I already asked everyone I know."
"Well, what if he stayed in the school? We'd all take care of him." Linus suggested. "Would that be OK, Barney?"
"Well Linus, puppies need lots of love and attention, and he'd be all alone at night because everyone goes home." Barney explained.
"I don't want him to be alone. I need to find him a good home where he'll be loved." Min said.
Lila's brain then hatched an idea. "Maybe we can all make posters to let everyone know he needs a home." she said.
"That's a good idea! My mom can help us put them up around the neighborhood." Min smiled.
Just then, seeds began raining down from the treehouse.
"What is this? It looks like some kind of seed." Jason said.
"That's sunflower seed." Marcie explained.
"Shawn!" everyone scolded.
"Sorry everyone! It was an accident!" Shawn called out.
Lila giggled. "What's he doing up there?" she asked.
"I don't know. But I think we'll be safer if we went inside." Barney chuckled.
"Let's go make posters!" Min smiled.
"OK!" Barney smiled as he, Snoopy, and the kids went inside the school and got to work on the posters.
"I'm gonna use paint on mine." Sally explained.
"You can use paint or markers or anything." Barney replied.
"I'm using scented markers." Heather said. "They're a lot of fun."
"The puppy's sure gonna be glad, when he has a home." Jason commented.
"Let's see...a little black puppy with white feet. Needs a F-A-M-I-L-Y..." Lila spelt out loud as she wrote "FAMILY" on her picture.
"That looks like a long dog." Lucy commented to Carlos. "I like it."
"Gracias, Lucy." Carlos replied.
A bit later, the pictures were done. "You all did a terrific job." Barney praised.
"Yeah, most of us." Violet said, noting that Marcie got distracted halfway through and decided to read in a corner of the classroom, with her headphones on.
"Good grief." Julie giggled.
"Well, little puppy, what do you think?" Min cooed before seeing the puppy was NOT in his box.
"GOOD GRIEF! THE PUPPY'S GONE!" Charlie Brown gasped.
"Where do you think he went?" Jason wondered.
"I don't know." Min said.
"He couldn't have gone far." Heather reasoned.
Lila smiled with confidence "Operation FIND THAT PUPPY DOG is now a-go!"
