Lelouch was busy going through the Files of each Head Member of the Six Houses of Kyoto, trying to predict which one it'd be to meet with him when a knock at his door interrupted him. While the Door was locked with a Passcode, he grabbed his Mask just in case.

"Who is it?" He asked sternly.

"It's me," Kallen's voice came from the other side.

"Um, I'm sorry if I was out of line when I spoke up back there..."

'She must be worried I'd be offended for her speaking on my behalf instead of letting me do so myself...'

Lelouch was about to ease her worries and even thank her for defending him from the others when a thought occurred to him...

'She hasn't asked me about who I am behind the Mask. Not since I first introduced myself to her group on the train. I'm sure she's still curious though...'

"Kallen... Tell me, do you want to know my identity as well?" He asked.

He wasn't really sure why he had offered. After all, her knowing it was him, Lelouch Lamperouge, behind the Mask of Zero could turn her against him! Sure, he could simply refuse her if she said "yes," but he felt that would somehow be damaging in-and-of itself. Then again...

Would it really be bad for Kallen to know it was him? She had shown her Loyalty and Dedication on multiple occasions, never once questioning him or his orders after they had saved Suzaku.

She had also shown that, unlike some of the others, she truly understood and believed what he meant when he had said that it wasn't the Britannian people themselves that were their enemies; most likely due to being Half-Britannian and having formed genuine bonds with the others on the Student Council... While she was uncomfortable at first, he had noticed how she had begun to loosen up around everyone - himself included. And, while she still had to act sickly and feeble - soft, bits of her real personality had shown itself with them.

'It definitely shows whenever she's arguing with me,' he thought in amusement.

In any case, whether it was from her being Half-Britannian, befriending the Student Council members or because she already thought so beforehand, it seemed Kallen truly believed in his words - truly believed they were "Knights of Justice." And it would certainly be more convenient if she knew; easier to plan and prepare as he could discuss future operations with her while at Ashford. Not to mention they could cover for the other during any absences - have alibis and excuses better prepared.

Also... It'd be relieving to have someone else to know his secret; someone to confide in to some extent. Having C.C. was definitely helpful, and he certainly owed her a lot, but she was still a mystery to him. And, while she sometimes offered advice, she refused to answer any vital questions about who she is, what she wanted - what this "Contract" between them was. He also felt there was something she knew that she wasn't telling him. Because of that, he sadly didn't know how much she could truly be trusted... She could also be quite frustrating!

Kallen on the other hand, he knew much about; including her personality, background and beliefs. He definitely wouldn't say he knew everything about her - he wasn't that arrogant. But he knew enough that he could trust her. And, as loath as he was to admit it, a small part of him wanted Kallen to know it was him behind the Mask - him leading and fighting alongside her. It disgruntled him, but he had reluctantly come to see the fiery Redhead as a dear friend. Had come to care about her. So there were plenty of benefits of her knowing - both personally and professionally. But...

A part of him was nervous of her reaction to learning it was him. While he liked to believe she saw him as a friend at Ashford, they still weren't exactly "chummy" with each other due to how much he liked to tease and aggravate her - not to mention his apathetic and cocky attitude definitely displeased her. Then there was their confrontation at the park that day... After confirming he saw the injustice happening to the Japanese people, her people, but had no desire to do anything to possibly help change things - that he was content with the status-quo... Her opinion of him had definitely soured. A part of him felt guilty for saying that to her, especially after learning about her Mother. But he had done so in order to, not only destroy her lingering suspicion of him still possibly being Zero, or at least connected; but also to test her resolve. He got the desired results; she no longer believed him to be Zero and, despite needing to keep up her Stadtfelt persona, she refused to be compliant about someone accepting the way things are - passionately showing her discontent of him doing so...

So yes, he got the desired results, ones that have greatly increased his respect for her, but at the cost in how she viewed him. Because of that, her learning he was Zero might be disastrous. Not only in her just simply reacting negatively, but possibly also make her abandon him! And if he lost her support, he'd definitely lose the others, which would ruin everything he sought to accomplish!

And... He didn't know why, but the thought of Kallen possibly leaving him - hating him made him uncomfortable. He was oddly afraid of that. But he had already offered, and he'd be lying if he said he didn't want to know her answer. He supposed that curiosity, along with part of him wanting Kallen to know, was why he had made the offer. Though, possibly due to the fear of her reaction, instead of simply revealing himself outright, he had made it be her choice. And whatever answer she gave, he'd honor that. Both hoping she'd accept and deny his offer.

To say Kallen was surprised was an understatement. She had come to apologize for speaking for him; expecting him being displeased at her stepping in and not letting him handle things himself with the others. She definitely didn't expect him to offer her to learn his identity! Especially after everyone else was angrily demanding him to reveal himself, despite all he had done for them! Before she could answer, another thought popped into her head: the girl that was with him at Narita...

"Mm... That girl knows, doesn't she?"

Kallen couldn't help but ask. It shouldn't matter to her, but the thought of someone else, especially a woman, knowing Zero's identity disgruntled her. She hated feeling like this! She felt jealous - which was both embarrassing and disconcerting! What did it matter who this woman was or that she knew who Zero really was?! He was her Commander for crying out loud! Besides, there were much more important things to worry about than something so trivial and...

Girly!

'God, Kallen! How pathetic can you get?!' She thought in aggravation.

"Girl?" Lelouch asked confused. It took him a few seconds, but he remembered that Kallen found him and C.C. at the cave in Narita.

"Ah, you're referring to the Green-haired woman at Narita, correct?" He asked knowingly.

Kallen couldn't help a slight blush forming on her face, "S-sorry, it's none of my business! Forget I said anything!" She was about to walk away before she embarrassed herself anymore when his voice stopped her.

"She does know my real identity, yes."

Kallen figured as much, but hearing him confirm it... For some reason it made her chest tighten.

"I-I see... She must be very close to you then, huh?" She gritted out.

'Jeez, just stop already, Kallen! Just walk away before you make a bigger fool out of yourself!' She thought in aggravation.

"'Close to me'?" He asked in confusion. His eyes widened when he realized what Kallen was implying. Taking a breath to compose himself, and rid himself of the annoying blush that adorned his face, he corrected her.

"Please, don't come to the wrong conclusion," he said with slight annoyance in his voice, "She's simply my Partner... Nothing more, nothing less. She knew me before I became Zero, that's how she knows," he clarified.

Kallen blinked at his words, "S-so she's not your-"

"No. Just my Partner," he clarified. Annoyed at her assumption, yet amused at her tone.

"O-oh!" She felt like such a fool! "I-I'm sorry! After seeing you two interact at Narita, and learning she knew your identity, I had thought- I apologize! Please forgive me for jumping to conclusions, Zero!"

'God, how freakin' embarrassing! Stupid!' Kallen thought, scolding herself.

"Hm. It's quite alright, Q-1," Lelouch calmly replied. Despite the annoyance, and embarrassment, he had felt, he wasn't mad at her.

"Please, don't worry yourself over this. There's no harm. I'm not offended," he said in a calm voice to ease the poor Redhead.

"T-thank you, Zero," she sighed in relief.

'Well... I stupidly embarrassed myself, but at least I didn't upset him,' she thought in exasperation.

'Wait! I almost forgot that Zero offered me to learn his identity!' she looked to his door in consideration.

'Should... Should I accept his offer? I meant what I said that it doesn't matter who he is behind the Mask! But... I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to know,' she bit her lip unsure.

"Zero?" She asked with a hint of nervousness in her voice.

"Yes, Kallen?"

"Is... Is that offer to learn your identity still available?"

Part of Lelouch had hoped she had forgotten about that. But she had brought it up, and he would answer honestly.

"It is, yes," he said keeping the resignation out of his voice.

"So Kallen... Do you wish to learn my identity?"

"...I do."

She believed in Zero, but she had to know. She wanted to know the true face of the Man that led them and gave them hope - gave her hope.

"Think this through carefully, Kallen," he said with seriousness, "Once you learn who I am, you can't take it back. For all you know, I could be anybody - perhaps someone you even know and hate... Are you absolutely sure you wish to know?"

He wasn't trying to dissuade her from learning his identity- well... Maybe a tiny part was. But, regardless, she did need to know the seriousness of what it was she was asking - what he was offering.

"Um, I... Well..." Now she was hesitant. Not because she no longer wished to know, she reassured herself who he was behind the Mask didn't matter... But now she was worried this was some sort of test - one she would fail by accepting his offer.

"This isn't a test, Kallen," as if reading her thoughts, he answered with a hint of fond amusement in his tone, "The offer is real. I just need you to understand the significance of it."

The Redhead breathed out a sigh of relief; though she was a bit putoff that Zero seemed to be able to read her thoughts. Guess she shouldn't be surprised though considering everything else he's been capable of.

"Then yes. I understand what it is I'm asking - what you're offering, and I still wish to know. I want to learn who you really are, Zero," she said with conviction in her voice.

"...Very well then, Q-1. Kallen. The Passcode for the door is 1125."

She hovered over the panel for the Passcode for a couple seconds before entering the Code. As soon as she put in the last digit, she heard a beep before the door slid open. Eyes slightly widening, part of her still thinking this had been a test, as she looked upon the open doorway. Taking a breath to help steel her resolve, the fiery Redhead entered Zero's quarters, the door sliding closed and locking behind her.

'Well,' she thought in a mixture of amusement and trepidation, 'No turning back now...'

She saw Zero, Mask on, with his back to her. He slowly, dramatically, turned around to face her, and the two remained silent - simply staring at one another.
Zero's expression was hidden behind his Mask. And Kallen, besides resolve in her eyes, remained stoic as well.

"Zero... Before you reveal yourself, there's something I must say," Kallen needed to say this - let him know where she stood.

"Second thoughts?"

She shook her head, "No. But I do need to say this," she said seriously.

He crossed his arms, bringing one hand under his chin. He gave a nod to show he was listening.

"While I do wish to know who you are, I want you to know that what I said to the others before was the truth... It doesn't matter who are behind the Mask. All that matters is what you're doing - what your intentions are. I truly believe that you wish to free Japan and bring about a better world for everyone. And so, because of that, I will remain by your side 'til the very end!"

There was strength and conviction in her voice... There was also sincerity. Still, he couldn't help the bit of doubt, and nervousness, that lingered in him.

"Thank you, Kallen... I appreciate your words," He said honestly.

'Now let's see if you'll truly stick by them once you learn it's me...' At that thought, another popped into his head.

"Actually, before I reveal myself, there's something I'm curious about and would like to ask you..."

"Yes, Zero? What is it?" She was confused. What could he need to ask?

"Was there anyone you ever suspected of being me?"

"Eh?!" Of all the questions she expected, that certainly wasn't one of them!

"Was there anyone you suspected of being me?" He repeated patiently.

"...No offense, but does it matter, Zero?" She asked grabbing her arm nervously, "I've done said I don't care who you are, and you're about to reveal yourself anyway!" She honestly didn't want to have this conversation. Partly because she wanted to hurry and learn Zero's identity, and partly because the question brought a familiar face to mind. The only person she ever suspected of being Zero... Her Classmate - Lelouch Lamperouge.

He merely shrugged a bit, "Humor me, Q-1," he said with an amused tone. Even in this situation, the former Prince couldn't help but have a bit of fun at the beautiful Redhead's expense.

After a few seconds she finally answered, "Yes. There was someone."

"Oh? Who?"

"My Classmate at School."

"I see... Why did you suspect them?"

"He had mentioned Shinjuku to me the day after," she explained. The massacre at Shinjuku still left a bad taste in her mouth.

"After that, I became suspicious of him. And while your voice on the radio during Shinjuku was scrambled, I also thought his voice was a bit similar... In the end, turned out I was wrong," she shrugged.

"He and I were in the same room when you called to tell me to meet at Tokyo Tower," she did her best to suppress a blush from that memory. She hoped Zero didn't ask what room she and Lelouch were in together when he called, or she definitely didn't think she'd be able to prevent a blush.

Lelouch himself was also fighting a slight blush at the memory.

"So you lost your suspicion of him then, I take it?"

"Well," she shrugged, "not completely. While it definitely lessened after the phone call, I was still a bit suspicious of him for a bit. That he was at least a possible associate of yours if not you outright," she admitted.

He smirked a bit. So he was right. Kallen had still been suspicious of him even after he had fooled her with the recording.

"But..." He noticed her voice and expression became somewhat downtrodden; like a mixture of anger, disappointment and even hurt.

"About a month ago," she continued, "I encountered him in the Settlement after we both witnessed a Japanese vendor being harassed by some Britannian jackasses..." She growled out.

"...After I checked on the vendor, my Classmate and I sat together at a bench. After explaining the economical situation in regards to Honorary Britannians and all that in that annoying, know-it-all tone of his..." she rolled her eyes, and he couldn't suppress a smirk.

"...He then, to my surprise, admitted that he saw the injustice that the Japanese were experiencing under Britannia's Rule. That he understood why they'd fight back and resist..."

"...I then asked him what he wanted to do knowing all that," her expression darkened a bit, "and he replied 'nothing.' Said that people can lead better lives by bowing their heads to Britannia."

"After he said that, I was pissed! It was one thing if he didn't realize the injustice and suffering the Japanese were experiencing under Britannia! After all, thanks to you, I've accepted that most Britannians, especially those around my age, have been influenced by the Bullshit the Media spew and don't know any better. My other friends on the Student Council are a testament to that..."

Kallen's face darkened again, her fists clenching. Her voice also rose a bit as she continued.

"...But he knew! He admitted that he acknowledged how wrong things are but was content with it! He'd rather sit on his ass and act all high-and-mighty than try and help! That disgusted me! So much that I slapped him!"

She took a couple deep breaths to calm herself down. Her voice calmer when she next spoke.

"After that, I knew there was no way he could be connected to you, let alone be you! I lost all suspicion of him then."

"I see..." He knew he had upset and angered her during that incident, but he didn't realize she felt so strongly about this. He definitely remembered her slap - his cheek suddenly stinging with a phantom pain.

"What's worse," her melancholic voice interrupted his thoughts, "is that, when he admitted he saw the injustice happening to the Japanese - that he understood why they'd fight back... I was actually hopeful that I had found someone at school, someone my age, that sympathized - that understood and that I could maybe talk too about this. Tch, but I was wrong about that too," she smiled sadly.

Kallen didn't exactly know why she had been affected so much by that incident. Sure, Lelouch's words had reminded her of her Mom's situation; or at least what she had wrongly thought in regards to her Mom... But that should've eased after learning the truth about her Mom! Regardless, why had she been so disappointed, even hurt, that Lelouch in particular felt that way about the Japanese?

"...Do you hate him?" The Masked Prince suddenly asked.

"Huh?!" Her eyes widened from the unexpected question.

"Your Classmate. Do you hate him?" He repeated. This was the other reason Lelouch had asked Kallen if she was suspicious of anyone being Zero - figuring he was the only one she ever had been. It was to gauge how she viewed him - viewed Lelouch Lamperouge. Depending on her answer, he would have to act accordingly. He couldn't Geass her again, but he could think of some other way to do damage control. Perhaps even take back his offer if need be.

"I..." Did she hate Lelouch? She thought about it and, despite everything, despite him giving her many reasons to hate him, she honestly couldn't say she did. A part of her was surprised - Lelouch had a lot of the Britannian traits she despised after all. And he acknowledged everything wrong with how the Japanese were being treated but was fine with it - fine with sitting by, doing nothing! She should hate him! And yet, while her opinion of him was definitely soured, she couldn't bring herself to hate Lelouch. Despite everything she still considered him a friend. Besides... She had to reluctantly admit that Lelouch still had a lot of good qualities to him - ones that oddly and frustratingly contradicted how much of an insufferable ass he acted a lot of the time. The way he was with his friends, even her sometimes, was definitely a positive in her mind. And the way he doted on Nunnally... It was honestly heartwarming seeing that side of Lelouch. It proved, despite his negatives, that Lelouch was a good person.

"...No. I don't," She answered truthfully, "I can't say I'm exactly pleased with him, but I don't hate him. As crazy as it sounds, he's still one of the few I consider a friend."

Lelouch had let out a breath he wasn't aware he had been holding. He didn't know exactly why, but the thought of Kallen hating him didn't sit well with him. He supposed it was due to the fact that it would mean her learning he was Zero would cause her to possibly turn on him, but some part of himself felt that wasn't entirely it. In any case, he didn't have to worry about that now... Or at least he hoped not!

"So anyway," Kallen started wanting to get back on topic, "I answered your question. You're... You're going to reveal yourself now, right? Zero?"

She looked at him with expectant eyes. He supposed he couldn't put it off any longer. He had gotten his answer, and it did partly relieve one of his worries. It was time to give his Q-1 what she desired... He just hoped it wasn't something they'd both regret!

"Yes. I'll keep my word, Kallen. Now you shall learn the identity of Zero..."

'This is it. The die has been cast. Now time to see how things play out - if the Queen will truly remain with the King.'

'Alright... This is it! Time to learn the face - the identity of the Man that holds my Loyalty, Trust and Hope!'

Zero slowly, almost agonizingly so, rose his hands to his Mask. Kallen then heard some sort of mechanism before noting the back of the Mask retract into the front. The only thing now keeping it secure was his hands. Kallen stilled her breath and could feel her heartbeat as her anticipation rose.

Finally, his hands pulled the Mask from his face, her Sapphire eyes widening as they gazed upon his Amethyst ones. Eyes she was very familiar with as, though it embarrassed her, she couldn't help but have found them beautiful - at times even mesmerizing. He pulled down the little mouth cover, revealing something else she was familiar with... His teasing smirk.

"L-Lel-Lelouch?! Y-you're... you-you've been Z-Zero this w-whole-" her mouth suddenly went dry, her mind frazzling.

His smirk simply widened a smidge, "Seems I've left you speechless, Q-1. I guess I've produced another Miracle," he teased.

His voice, like it usually did, irked the fiery Redhead - overriding her shock.

"Don't start that crap, Lelouch! You mean you've been Zero this whole damn time?!" She growled out with a glare.

'There's the Kallen I know,' he thought in fond amusement.

"Yes... I am Zero. The Man who created the Black Knights. The Man of Miracles. ...The Man who will Obliterate Britannia!"

The conviction - the fire in his eyes and voice as he stated that last part honestly surprised Kallen a bit. Enough so, that it overrode her shock at learning his identity. She had never seen or heard such passion in the arrogant, laidback Vice President of Ashford. But she certainly had plenty of times from Zero. It was even more proof that her eyes weren't deceiving her... Lelouch truly was Zero!

She shook herself out of her stupor, she still had questions - ones Lelouch had better answer!

"But why?! Why are you trying to destroy Britannia?! You're Britannian, after all!" She accused.

"I could say the same thing about you, Kallen," He calmly returned.

"No! I'm Japanese!" She said vigorously.

"You're still Half-Britannian, Kallen... And the Heiress of a Noble, at that," he reminded the Redheaded Rebel softly.

"That doesn't mean a damn thing!" She angrily threw her arm to the side, "I identify and fight as a Japanese! That's what - who I am!" She yelled vehemently.

She then glared in defiance, "You on the other hand are fully Britannian, Lelouch!"

"As are now some of your Comrades in the Black Knights - ones you've fought alongside to free Japan, Kallen..."

That took some of the fire out of her... He was right. Some Britannians had actually joined the Black Knights - with more seeming to apply.

"Are you saying they have no right to fight? No reason to be against Britannia's corruption? That they don't desire Justice and equality? What about the Student Council. Are they not your friends despite being Britannian?"

She flinched a bit, as if struck, from that. She didn't think Ze-Lelouch was accusing her of anything, but she felt guilty all the same.

"I... I didn't mean-" she grabbed her arm, looking away. When she looked back, she was surprised, yet relieved, that he didn't seem upset at her... Instead giving her a sympathetic gaze.

"I know, Kallen," he said softly, "But you see my point, do you not?" He asked patiently.

"...I do," She relented, taking a breath before directing another hard look towards him.

"But that doesn't explain why you're fighting against Britannia, Lelouch! Why you're Zero!"

He was about to repeat himself, but she intercepted him.

"I accept Britannians can see Britannia's evil and would want to fight against it. But let's not kid ourselves here, Lelouch," she crossed her arms under her bust, "I seriously doubt that's the main reason why you became Zero and want to destroy Britannia!"

A smirk adorned his face as he replied in a teasing tone - one he knew usually irked the beautiful Redhead, "And what makes you think that, Kallen? How do you know I don't simply want World Peace?"

She merely rolled her eyes, "Because, while I don't really know you..."

'Obviously even less than I thought,' she thought to herself.

"...I've gotten enough of a grasp of you at Ashford to know something like that wouldn't be your true goal."

At that, his face became somewhat haughty - similar to how she saw at Ashford.

"And how do you know, Kallen? I was able to fool you into no longer believing me to be Zero; fool you into thinking I agreed with Britannia's ways... how do you know my entire Persona at Ashford wasn't an act?"

She wasn't fazed. She was used to dealing with Lelouch when he was like this - being an insufferable ass. Honestly, there was comfort in the familiarity.

"Because then that means your Friendship with the Student Council was also an act. So? Am I wrong? Was that an act too, Lelouch?"

At his slight wince, so subtle that she wouldn't have noticed had she not been looking for any signs, she knew she had been right - much to her relief.
Honestly, she didn't have much reason to believe how he was at Ashford, including his good qualities, wasn't all an act... It was more she had a gut feeling, mixed with the undeniable hope that the moments he shared with the Student Council was real. That his friendship with them was real... That his friendship with her was.

"Also," her gentle tone catching his attention, "the way you are with Nunnally. I know that's not an act. The way you look at her; the way you are with her... It's genuine. I know because it's the exact way my Big Brother was with me," she muttered softly - emotion lacing her voice.

"Kallen..." He said softly - giving the girl a sympathetic look. He didn't know too much about Kallen's older Brother - having only learned a bit from Ohgi. Such that he was the original Leader of the Kozuki Resistance before Ohgi, and was killed by Britannia nearly a year ago. The Rebel Prince would admit that when he had first heard that, his heart had went out to Kallen then. Was going out to her now. From the tone of her voice, it was obvious the man must've truly meant everything to Kallen. He figured that must've been the main reason Kallen hated Britannia and fought against them - revenge for her Brother's death. Something he could understand entirely! It would also explain why she was now so determined to fight for her Mother - something else he sympathized with.

"So," her lighter tone after such a serious conversation confusing him a bit, "that's why I also believe some of your selfishness and arrogance wasn't an act either. No one can act that much of an obnoxious jackass without it being somewhat genuine!" She said rolling her eyes.

He closed his eyes and smirked. Both appreciating, and impressed with, her trying to lighten things up a bit while still making a point and digging for answers. As expected of his Q-1.

"So I'm asking you, Lelouch - and please be honest with me..." She directed a serious look towards him," What's the real reason you became Zero? Why are you fighting Britannia?"

Her voice had a hint of warning in it. Letting him know there'd be consequences if his answer didn't satisfy her. But, despite the seriousness of her tone and gaze, he also detected a hint of pleading within her shining blue orbs.

'Ah, I see...' He thought to himself in understanding. Kallen didn't just want to know his reasoning, she wanted it to be justifiable. She wanted to know that she hadn't misplaced her Trust and Hope in him - she wanted to believe in him!

"I wasn't lying when I said I wanted to make a peaceful world, Kallen..." He started, seeing her face shift into one of disappointment. But he continued before she could voice her discontent.

"...But I'm not doing it from 'the goodness of my heart' or anything like that. I'm doing it for one person, and one person only..."

She knew exactly whom he was referring to, and her features immediately softened, "Nunnally..." She muttered gently.

"Yes," he confirmed in a whisper, "You know someone like her can't survive in the world as it is now - the way Britannia runs it. Even if she could, she'd never be able to truly live happily. She'd constantly be ostracized by the Nobility within Britannia due to her condition..."

While his voice remained calm, his features darkened with controlled anger - fists clenching as he continued.

"...She'd be viewed as weak and useless by those with power; someone that has no place within Britannia's society - a place where the strong devour the weak! The Nobility would either take advantage of her, or destroy her outright!"

He then directed a fierce look towards the Redhead, his dark orbs shaking her with their intensity, as his voice became stronger.

"So I will destroy such a world! A world where the strong suppress the weak cannot exist if Nunnally is to survive and be happy!" He threw his arm to the side, his Zero cape flowing in the process, "and so, as Zero, I will obliterate this world - obliterate Britannia! And, as it burns down, I'll create something better from the ashes!"

Kallen was struck with awe! His proclamation was so powerful and inspiring - just as she'd expect from Zero!

'No,' she thought to herself in startling realization; 'That came from Lelouch, not Zero. It was... Too emotional, too "human" compared to how Zero normally speaks.'

It was true. While Zero was beyond passionate and inspiring... Able to motivate and leave all, especially her, in awe, there was always something "detached" about his speeches - about Zero himself. Before she had simply ignored it, but after learning his identity - seeing and hearing Lelouch like this... It was so much more!

"...I have to do it," his voice having calmed, but his words no less determined, "for Nunnally..."

"Lelouch..." She whispered softly, empathetic for her Leader and Classmate...

She understood completely. She knew the love and devotion there was between siblings - particularly older siblings to their younger ones. Her Big Brother Naoto was always there for her - always made sure she was happy and safe in every way he could. She knew one of the main reasons, besides wanting justice for their fellow Japanese, that he fought Britannia was for the same reason Lelouch was Zero for Nunnally - so that she could live a happy, peaceful life. She adored him. He was her inspiration and, before the Black Knights and learning the truth about her Mother, was the only ray of light in this damned world under Britannia... She wanted to continue his dream. A dream she initially thought impossible until that day in Shinjuku.

'Until Zero - Lelouch appeared...' She thought in gratitude - a feeling of warmth running through her.

She was also relieved that that was Lelouch's reason for becoming Zero... While it wasn't truly what some would consider the only purpose a "Knight for Justice" should fight for, for her it was more than enough. Much like some of his better moments at Ashford, it humanized Lelouch. Gave her more of a feeling of understanding and "connection" to him; in a way she sadly never could've had with Zero. It definitely made her decision to continue following him easier.

Kallen would also admit that she herself felt protective of Nunnally - of all her friends on the Student Council. But that doubled for Nunnally; the girl was just so sweet and innocent. Even back when she couldn't hardly stand any Britannians, she couldn't feel any form of disdain towards the Wheelchair bound girl as soon as she met her. The girl just had a "Light" to her that touched your heart. In fact, if it ever came to where the Black Knights had to interact with Ashford, if any of her fellow Japanese had so much as insulted the girl, they'd be leaving with a broken and bloody nose - if they were lucky!

'I know Lelouch definitely wouldn't mind me doing so. Hell, he might hope I do more!' She thought amused.

"Lelouch," the Redhead started, catching the Revolutionary's attention, "while I'm still ticked that you lied to me and kept your identity hidden from me-"

"Like how you did with me in regards to your whole feeble, sickly girl act?" He countered in a teasing tone, causing her eye to twitch.

"I didn't know who you really were; that you were actually Zero and we were Allies fighting together like you did with me, now did I?" She countered back smartly arms crossed; causing him to smirk in amusement - impressed at such a clever comeback.

'Gotta give her the point there. Not bad, Kallen,' he thought in amusement.

"Fair enough," he shrugged playfully.

"As I was saying!" She said in annoyance, "While you having done that pisses me off, I do get why you're fighting."

Her expression then softened and she directed a small, gentle smile towards him, much to his surprise.

"I always wondered exactly why Zero fought against Britannia. Why he wanted to help the Japanese. I did like to think it was just because he was someone that couldn't simply stand by and watch Britannia's cruelty go unchecked; and I guess that's true for you to some extent..." Her smile widened a bit as she continued.

"...But honestly? I think your true reason is far more heartfelt and noble - more "real" than what I could've expected. It proves that I was right in my decision to believe in Zero - in you! And I'll gladly help you achieve that world for Nunnally, and everyone else we care about!"

To the Revolutionary's surprise, he was grateful - even touched by Kallen's words.

"Thank you, Kallen..." The former Prince murmured. Receiving a nod in return.

"There is one other reason why I wish to destroy Britannia..." He stated seriously. He wasn't sure why he was going to admit this, but he supposed it was due to a touch of guilt of Kallen thinking he only had a 'noble,' as she called it, reason. While a peaceful world for Nunnally to live in was his primary objective; it'd be a lie to say it was the only one he had.

"Another reason? What other reason?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. Only a small amount of suspicion in her voice. She definitely felt better in giving him the benefit of the doubt in what other reason he could have for leading a Rebellion against Britannia aside from Nunnally; but she'd be lying if there wasn't some nervousness in what his reason would be.

"I also desire revenge against Britannia," he said darkly.

"Revenge?" She parroted with a hint of surprise.

"Yes."

The Redheaded Ace wasn't expecting that. Not that it was a reason she had a problem with; after all, revenge was one of her reasons as well. But she wasn't expecting it to be one of Lelouch's. She wondered what it was he wanted revenge for - what Britannia had done to him that it was one of his reasons aside from Nunnally to become Zero?

"What do you want revenge for exactly, Lelouch? What'd Britannia do to you?" She asked in a curious, yet serious tone.

Memories of that night flashed unbidden in the Exiled Prince's mind. His Mother's gunned down corpse, Nunnally's traumatized face and his own horrifying screams playing. Then of course the day he confronted his Fa- the Emperor, only to be coldly brushed aside and told he was dead - that his and Nunnally's lives meant nothing.

Lost in his own dark thoughts, his face slowly darkened as he unconsciously clenched his fists. Kallen noticed his demeanor darken; worriedly realizing that she must've brought up bad memories.

"I'm sorry!" She said hurriedly and apologetically, "I didn't mean to pry!"

'Stupid! Damn it, way to go Kallen!' the girl chastised herself.

Her words snapped the Prince from his dark past and back into the present. He noticed Kallen giving him an apologetic look before she looked away guiltily - nervously grabbing her arm and biting her lip.

"It's none of my business why you desire revenge against Britannia... I apologize if I upset you," she muttered.

Lelouch cursed to himself. He hated he had let his past consume his mind in front of Kallen! What's worse is the poor girl now felt she had upset him!

"No, it's fine. You have no reason to apologize, Kallen..." He said in what he had hoped was a soothing tone.

"Well, I'm sorry all the same," she said. While she was relieved Lelouch didn't seem upset at her, she still hated she had apparently brought back any bad memories.

"Britannia took away someone dear to Nunnally and I..." he revealed much to Kallen's surprise.

"...They're also responsible for Nunnally's condition," while he wasn't giving any specifics of his past or who he truly was; nor planned too, the former Prince still wasn't quite sure why he was revealing any of this to Kallen. He supposed to show her that he had no hard feelings towards her?

"What?!" The Redhead exclaimed, "So Nunnally's like that because of Britannia?!"

"Yes. So you can understand my desire for revenge."

She certainly did! To do anything to someone as sweet and innocent as Nunnally... The beautiful Redhead clenched her jaw as her fists tightened in anger.
'Those damn bastards do nothing but hurt and ruin people's lives - doesn't matter who it is!' She thought enraged.

"So now you know both my reasons for becoming Zero - why I desire to obliterate Britannia until there's nothing left," the Revolutionary began, catching the Ace's attention.

"I do, yes."

"So," Lelouch, wanting to leave his dark thoughts buried in the past and focus on the future, addressed his Q-1, "now that you know, are you still willing to follow me? Will you continue to stand by my side, Q-1 - Kallen?" He said while outstretching his arm towards her.

The beautiful Ace crossed her arms before giving him a look between playful and exasperated.

"You really like to be dramatic, don't ya?" She sighed in false annoyance - obviously wanting to lighten things up a bit. Which the Revolutionary appreciated.

"What can I say?" He said with a smirk, playing along, "I excel at it; along with most things I set out to do. I am the Man of Miracles, after all."

She merely shook her head and rolled her eyes at that. Placing her hands on her hips before directing an annoyed glare towards the egocentric boy.

"Could you get your head outta your ass for two seconds, Lelouch? Your speeches aren't that great!"

"Really? You always seemed to be quite enthralled whenever 'Zero' was grandiose," he said teasingly. A huge smirk on his face.

"Sh-shut up!" She said with a blush.

The boy then put his hand on his chin, looking up in mock thought before addressing the embarrassed beauty.

"If I remember correctly, you were also quite into my performance during that Play Milly had us do - the one where I played a 'Dashing Rogue,"' his smirk widening.

Kallen's eyes widened as her blush deepened. She then grabbed her arm and looked away in embarrassment.

"T-that was... That was b-because I thought y-you were completely ridiculous like t-that, that's all!"

"That so?" He said with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes!" She said vehemently, though her blush didn't lessen.

Lelouch simply chuckled, much to Kallen's chagrin. He truly did love to rile up the beautiful Firebrand. And being able to do so now that she knew he was Zero was comforting.

"So Kallen, this means you'll continue to follow me, correct?" The Revolutionary asked. His Q-1 never actually answered, and he wanted a verbal confirmation.

"Y'know," Kallen closed her eyes and sighed, "For a genius, you can be really dense!" She stated, causing said genius to scoff. As she opened her eyes, she directed a fierce look towards Lelouch - the determination in her Sapphire Orbs honestly stunning the Prince with their intensity.

"Lelouch... I said before that it didn't matter who Zero was behind the Mask, and I meant that! I'm not gonna lie and say learning it's you isn't a bit 'conflicting' for me, but after learning your reasons for being Zero and fighting Britannia... I honestly believe you will free Japan; you're the one that can make my Brother's dream a reality! So yes, Lelouch... I will continue to follow you - I'll remain by your side until the end!" She proclaimed with conviction in both her voice and expression.

"...Thank you, Kallen," the Revolutionary Prince, grateful for the girl's continued loyalty and devotion, offered a soft and genuine smile - his Amethyst gems shining in fond gratitude.

To Kallen's confusion, such a look had her feel a warmth fluttering through her. Her heart actually skipping a beat.

"Uhm, yes well..." The fiery Ace cleared her throat, a small blush on her face, "y-you're welcome," she stuttered out.

It was silent for a few moments until...

"I do have some conditions though, Lelouch," she stated, catching the boy's attention with the seriousness in her tone.

"Conditions?"

"Well... Just consider them more as 'requests.' That sounds better," she shrugged with a hint of a smirk.

"And they are...?" He asked with a raised brow.

"First: While I'll still take orders while you're Zero, provided I agree with them of course; that doesn't mean you can use your authority as my Leader to order me around when you're yourself! When we're Zero and Q-1, it's fine. Not as Lelouch and Kallen!"

"I'm fine with that," Honestly, he preferred it that way too. It was better to separate their professional and personal lives after all.

"Second: I want to be let in on your Plans from here on out - not just given orders afterwards! Basically, I'd like us to work together more closely as equals instead of Leader and Subordinate."

"Are you saying you wish to truly be 'My Queen,' Q-1?" The Prince asked with a teasing smirk.

"D-don't get the wrong idea, smartass!" She exclaimed with a slight blush.

"Alright, alright," he chuckled, "I can accept that. That all?"

"One last thing," her tone became more serious.

"Yes?"

"I don't want you to lie to me or hide anything from me anymore, alright? If we're truly going to be able to work together, if I'm gonna continue to believe in you, then I need you to be honest with me from now on, Lelouch! Alright?"

While she said that with a no nonsense tone, he had noticed a subtle look of pleading in her eyes. She apparently desired this "request" most of all. The thing is... He couldn't truly agree to this one.

"Lelouch?" Her gaze started wavering a bit at his hesitation.

"...Alright," he muttered.

"I need you to say it, Lelouch!" She exclaimed strongly.

Taking a breath in order to keep his true feelings hidden - opting to show the neutral look he used at Ashford.

"I won't lie or keep things hidden from you anymore, Kallen..."

'Not with things you need to know or I want you to know at least,' he thought to himself behind her back.

She searched his face to try and determine whether he was being honest. After a few moments, her expression relaxed and she offered a small smile.

"Thank you, Lelouch," she said softly with genuine gratitude. Her tone and look making the Prince hold back a wince.

"Those all your 'requests?'" he did finger quotes, causing the Redhead to roll her eyes. They then widened as she had one final 'request' towards her Leader and Classmate.

"Tell me Lelouch... Is there any other secret about you I'd like to know? Anything important?" She asked with a raised brow.

Now that was quite the question... He definitely had no desire or intention to inform her of his Royal heritage, but there was the matter of his Geass...

'Should I tell her about my Geass and what it does? Doing so is risky; after all, I can't use it on her again, and if her reaction's negative this could still jeopardize things - despite her proclaimed loyalty.'

After looking at Kallen's curious, yet patient expression, and remembering how grateful he had been towards her earlier, along with the guilt he felt from having lied to her previously, he figured Kallen at least deserved this.

'Besides, with our Operations against Britannia going to continuously be increasing; and with her not only my Bodyguard, but now my actual Partner, we're going to be working together more closely, so there's a high chance she'll be with me when I'll need to use my Geass. It's best to have her be aware of it now,' he rationalized to himself.

"There is something you need to be informed of..." He admitted.

Kallen's eyes widened slightly in surprise. A part of her felt that if there was some other secret Lelouch had, he wouldn't reveal it. The fact he did was both relieving and made her oddly happy. It proved he was taking their new Partnership seriously - that he trusted her!

"What?" She softly asked.

"Before I tell you, I need you to know this: every single choice you've ever made has always been yours. Your thoughts and feelings - your heart is your own, Kallen..." He stated in a soft, yet serious tone.

'"My heart is my own...?" What the hell does that mean?' the Redhead thought to herself confused.

Before she could ask what Lelouch was talking about, her breath caught in her throat and her eyes widened in shock as she saw his left eye suddenly go from the beautiful Purple she knew to a Demonic Red - a Birdlike Symbol in the center!

"W-wh-what t-the h-hell is that?!" She choked out, startled!

"This... Is Geass," Lelouch said somewhat ominously - at least to Kallen's ears.

"Geass...?" She muttered.

"Also known as 'The Power of the King,' it's an ability granted to me that allows me to implant any command into someone's mind that they must obey," The Prince explained in, what he hoped had been, a soothing tone.

"Wait... So it's basically mind control?!" She asked shocked. Fear at the implication going through her.

"In a sense, yes," He admitted softly.

The Ace Pilot's features darkened - directing a glare towards the Geass User; causing him to tense a bit.

"Did you use this 'Geass' on me, Lelouch?!" She exclaimed.

"I told you, Kallen..." He softly began - hoping to ease the clearly upset Redhead, "Your heart is your own..."

Her glare only intensified, but what surprised him was the unexpected look of hurt and trepidation.

"You didn't answer my question, Lelouch..." She bit out.

"Kallen-"

"Did you use your Geass on me?!" She asked hotly - anger and hurt oozing from her voice.

'Please Lelouch...' She thought desperately to herself, 'Answer me honestly! Either say you didn't or that it was for something insignificant!'

Her look and tone - the hurt and fear she exuded was hard to bear for the Prince. It affected him way more than he thought it would. He hoped once he revealed what his command was, and that she was now immune to his Geass, that it'd appease her. He didn't want to lose her, she was too valuable a Pilot!...She was also someone he had come to care about - regardless of having never meant too.

"I did use my Geass on you," her face became devastated, "Only to have you answer some questions I had about you, nothing else!" He quickly explained before her mind could think up anything.

While not completely losing her disheartened look, she perked up a bit at that - latching onto it.

"You swear? You only had me answer questions; nothing else?" She asked - anxiousness lacing her voice.

"Nothing else, I swear," he said gently.

He sounded sincere enough. She rarely heard him use such a soft tone except with Nunnally. It did help comfort her a bit and, as she searched his face, she couldn't detect any hints of deceit. His eyes were patient, yet imploring - as if gently pleading with her to believe him. As she kept searching them, she slowly started getting lost in their dark, beautiful depths...

"S-so what were the questions?" She asked; both due to wanting to know, and also to hide her embarrassment.

'God, I'm acting like a "Lovesick" Schoolgirl!' She thought in annoyance, as a slight look of relief crossed his face.

"Just if you were the Pilot of the Glasgow, why you were part of a Resistance group, and what your motivation for fighting Britannia was. Things of that nature."

She nodded as he explained; feeling relieved at what his questions had been.

"When exactly was this? When did you use your... 'power,' your Geass on me?" It felt odd saying that. To acknowledge some mystical power existed!

"A few days before you joined the Student Council. The day I mentioned Shinjuku."

She remembered that! It was because of that that she had become suspicious of him being the Voice!

'Hah! And I was right after all!' She gloated mentally.

'But wait a second...' a thought occurred to her.

"If you can command anyone to do whatever, and you didn't want me to know you were the Voice, then why didn't you command me to not think you were? Especially after I became suspicious of you?" She asked curiously. To her surprise, Lelouch looked embarrassed.

"Well, I initially tried but it didn't work..." He muttered.

"'Didn't work?'" She parroted with a raised brow.

He sighed, "I can only use my Geass on a person once. After they've done whatever command I've given, they then become immune to my Geass..."
He looked away, speaking so low she almost didn't hear him, "...I didn't know that when I used my Geass on you."

She blinked a couple times as she processed this information. For one, she learned she was immune, so he couldn't ever command her again - which was definitely a huge relief! It also means that he was telling the truth that all her thoughts and feelings were truly hers - "Her heart was her own," as Lelouch had said! To know Lelouch hadn't forced her to his Will even though he could have - that he didn't want her as a puppet further cemented her belief in him! ...It also gave her a "happy, warm" feeling.

The second thing was that Lelouch, "Mr. Always Prepared Know-It-All," had apparently messed up big time! He hadn't known then if she was gonna become an Ally; she very much could've been a threat! In a way she had been; in possibly exposing him, or at the very least not agreeing with a Britannian Student as the Voice! Yet, even with a power to mind control someone, he had screwed up and nearly exposed his identity to a girl whom he knew was in a Resistance group and wanted to keep her own identity a secret! It was hilarious! Despite the shock of not only finding out that Lelouch was Zero, but also had a glowing eye with mind control powers, the fiery girl couldn't help but find the whole thing funny!

"Soooo, let me get this straight..." She said trying to hold back laughter, "The very reason I became suspicious of you in the first place was because you messed up?" A smile coming to her face.

"I 'miscalculated,'" he emphasized. A slight glare directed towards the amused beauty who snorted.

"Uh-huh. 'Miscalculated', my ass! You messed up! Because of that I almost outted you as the Voice! Which I was right, by the way!" She bragged with a smug look.

He simply rolled his eyes, "Yes, you were right about me being the Voice. Congratulations," he fake clapped. She merely stuck her tongue out playfully - her joy at the situation not deterred by his sarcasm in the slightest. She had one more shot to take at him...

"So you have this amazing power, but didn't know it can only be used once per person when you used it on me... Did you not practice with it beforehand - try to truly learn both its capabilities and limits?" She asked; her tone mixed between amused and incredulous. To her amusement, Lelouch actually looked caught off guard.

"Well... Before you, I never needed to Geass a person a second time, and it worked every time before, so I... Uhm..." He was at a loss for words! He couldn't defend himself because he had to admit, to himself at least, that Kallen made a good point... After Shinjuku, he really should've experimented with his Geass more before using it for anything official. Because of that, he had messed- miscalculated and nearly exposed his identity to her!

'How annoying...' the Revolutionary thought in embarrassment - a slight blush adorning his face as he looked away.

At that, the beautiful Redhead couldn't contain herself anymore as she broke out in a fit of laughter; Lelouch's blush deepening as a result.

"Are you quite finished?" Lelouch asked unamused, as her laughter finally died down to mere chuckles.

"Yeah. Heh. I'm good now," she said wiping her eye. As she went to ask her next question, she nearly lost it again at his disgruntled look. Luckily she was able to hold it, though an amused smile still made its way through.

'I needed that!' Kallen thought joyfully. Considering the crazy seriousness this reveal has been, something as silly as this was welcomed. It also made her feel more comfortable around him - reminding her that he was still Lelouch despite being Zero!

"So," clearing the last bits of laughter from her tone, "how did you get this Geass?"

"It was given to me," Lelouch responded, a bit of relief in his voice that they were moving on from his mista- miscalculation.

"Who gave it to you?" She asked a bit more seriously. Learning that there was someone that could give such a power was a bit concerning.

"I cannot say," the Geass User responded, much to the Redhead's suspicion.

"Can't or won't, Lelouch?" She asked stiffly, crossing her arms.

"Won't. It's not my place to inform you of who gave me Geass, as they may not wish to be known," he responded coolly.

Kallen admitted that he made a good point. It'd be similar to someone asking her who Zero was now. He was just respecting the privacy of whomever it was that gave him Geass... Didn't stop her from wondering though.

'Hm, I wonder...' She thought, eyeing him curiously.

"Was it that Green-haired girl? You said she was your Partner, and that she knew your identity before you became Zero..." she said to his impressed surprise.

"...She's not listed in the Black Knights, nor is she Japanese," she continued, crossing her arms, "she doesn't seem Britannian either; so I doubt she has any reason to be a part of this War either side - she just seemed to appear out of nowhere. Her only connection being one thing - you. So that would make her the most likely one that gave you Geass. Am I right?" She asked with a raised brow.

The only sign he gave was a slight tilt of his head. Though, if she wasn't mistaken, it looked liked there was a hint of pride in his eyes. After moments of silence, Kallen sighed.

"You're not gonna tell me, are you?" She asked knowingly.

"Again, it's not my place to tell, Kallen," he responded calmly. She waved her hand in response.

"Alright, alright. I get it... Jerk," She muttered playfully under her breath, causing the boy to smirk. He got serious as he addressed her next.

"Speaking of not telling people, Kallen-"

"You don't want me telling anyone about you being Zero or your Geass, right?" She finished knowingly.

"Correct, Q-1," he said in approval.

"Don't worry, I hadn't planned on telling anyone when you first offered me to learn your identity," she shrugged nonchalantly.

"Thank you," he said gratefully with a slight smile, which she returned.

"One more question, Lelouch..." She asked nervously.

"Yes?" He asked in genuine curiosity; wondering what else she could possibly want to know - why she seemed nervous. To his surprise, she grabbed her arm and looked away from him - muttering her question so low he almost didn't hear it.

"...Why did you decide to reveal your identity as Zero to me, Lelouch?"

He blinked a couple times - confused why such a simple question would make her so nervous.

"Well, I thought you being aware would be much more convenient for the both of us when it came to future Operations moving forward, as we can even converse about such matters at Ashford if need be," Lelouch explained pragmatically.

"Oh... I see. That makes sense, I should've figured," Kallen said, seemingly nonchalantly, but he could swear there was a hint of disappointment in the Redhead's tone.

"I also believed you had earned the right to know due to your continued Loyalty to Zero - to me," He added. Hoping this would satisfy Kallen.
While her expression did seem to brighten up a bit at that, there still seemed to be traces of disappointment in her eyes. While he couldn't understand why, he didn't like that he had disappointed her somehow.

"Hm, I see," the Ace said with a slight smile, "Well, I'm glad I had been able to prove myself. Thanks for telling me."

"Also..." The Prince began softly as the beautiful Redhead started walking towards the door to leave, "a part of me, I think, wanted you to know, Kallen..." His admittance caused the girl to turn around to stare at him in surprise. The Prince himself not understanding why he was mentioning this, as doing so served no beneficial purpose in his mind. Despite this, he continued on.

"...It's nice being able to be honest with someone that I consider, not only a valuable ally, but also someone that's... a friend," The boy softly admitted - to both their surprise.

Kallen simply stared wide eyed for a moment before her expression shifted to one of warmth - smiling softly as her Cerulean eyes shined radiantly. Her expression actually somehow stunning the Prince, though he couldn't fathom as to why!

"Thank you, Lelouch... For telling me," She repeated her previous words, yet they were somehow different... Having something to them that the Prince couldn't pinpoint.

"I'm... Glad we can start being honest with each other," the Redheaded beauty gently said.

"Yes... Well..." Lelouch actually had to, much to his confusion, look away from Kallen - her expression and tone making him feel... "Odd."

"Just don't start expecting any special treatment from me now, Q-1," the Revolutionary had coolly stated after composing himself.

The fiery Ace merely scoffed and rolled her eyes at that, "Please! Like I want or need any special treatment! I've already proven myself, and I'll continue to do so with my own hard-earned skills!" She said confidently.

"Careful, Q-1... Such confidence will only lead to mistakes," He teased. Glad they were back to their familiar dynamic and away from... whatever that was he experienced a moment ago.

She merely smirked back, "You mean like that huge mistake you made with me when using your Geass?" She mocked playfully. Causing the boy's eye to twitch.

'Is she seriously bringing that up again?!' The Geass User thought in mild annoyance.

"Again, I didn't mess up... I simply 'miscalculated!'" He gritted out - annoyance lacing his tone as his eyes slightly narrowed.

"Sure," the Redhead chuckled out.

'It's fun finally being able to aggravate and tease Lelouch like he does to me at Ashford!' She thought delighted.

"Besides," the boy began coolly, "once I did, I was able to fool you afterwards - quite easily I might add," he smugly said.

While his words caused her eye to twitch, and have her unfortunately blush a bit due to remembering where they were when he initially fooled her, she still wasn't deterred; nor would she back down.

"Maybe, but had you not 'miscalculated,'" she said using finger quotes, to which he frowned unamused, "you wouldn't had needed to fool me in the first place," She teased.

"Perhaps," the Prince casually shrugged before directing a devious look towards the fiery beauty, "but I certainly got a nice 'view' from it," he said, causing said beauty's mouth to gape and a huge blush color her face; him ignoring the slight tint of red on his own cheeks.

"Y-you-you... You pervert!" She yelled embarrassed.

"Wrong. If I was a pervert, I would've openly stared instead of politely turning away," he smugly explained, "It's not like you were doing anything to cover yourself, after all," he teased, causing the fiery beauty's face to match her hair.

"D-don't word it like that, damn it!" She indignantly shouted, "You know I didn't realize the curtain was open!" She glared at him, though it lacked intimidation due to her huge blush.

"Doesn't change the fact I saw. In fact, this just shows you should be more aware of your surroundings, Q-1," he teasingly pointed out.

"Careful, Lelouch... Otherwise your identity won't be the only thing hidden by that Mask, but a black eye and broken nose too!" She growled out.

"You'd hit your Commander?" He said in a fake shocked expression.

"When he needs to be put in line, I will - happily!" She playfully smirked.

"Well then, I'll be sure to keep that in mind," he smirked.

"You better, 'Lord Zero!'" She playfully mocked, causing him to chuckle.

A few moments of comfortable silence passed between the two before Lelouch broke it.

"Apologies, I don't want to be rude, but there's some important work I still need to attend to," he politely said.

"Oh! Right, of course! Sorry! I'll uh, let you get back to it, then!" She said somewhat sheepishly. As she was heading towards the exit, she heard Lelouch say one last thing, prompting her to stop.

"Thank you, Kallen... For choosing to trust me and remain by my side," Lelouch muttered softly, bringing a smile to the Redheaded beauty's face.

"You're welcome. And thank you, Lelouch... For being honest with me," Kallen responded gently, receiving a nod from the Prince in return.

"I guess... I'll talk to ya later, Lelouch," she said with small smile.

"Of course, Kallen," he responded with a slight smirk.

Right before she left though, she couldn't help but take one more shot at his expense; despite how embarrassing what she was about to say was...

"Hope you really enjoyed that 'view' of me you got that day in the shower, because you're sure as hell not ever gonna get another!"

With a blushing face, she left the room, amused at hearing him stumble a bit in shock, though not daring to turn towards him.

After exiting, she glanced back at his door, a thoughtful expression on her face.

'I somehow have a feeling things are gonna become more complicated between Lelouch and I moving forward...' Despite that somewhat worrying thought, Kallen couldn't stop the small smile forming.

'Oh well! What happens, happens, I guess! I'm sure it'll be interesting either way,' She thought to herself amused. Heading off with a much lighter feeling than when she had first came to apologize.

Within the room, the Revolutionary was having similar thoughts to his Q-1...

'That turned out much better than I could've possibly hoped... Still, I can't shake the feeling that things will only become more complicated with Kallen,' Lelouch thought with a sigh.

'Oh well... Come what may, I- we march forward,' he thought to himself amused. Turning to eye the Queen Piece on his Chessboard.
