Chapter 2 Setting Off
The sun is just beginning to dip below the horizon as Ash, Delia, and Golly make their way to Professor Oak's lab. The familiar sights and sounds of Pallet Town surround them, but there is an unspoken tension in the air. Ash's mind is racing with everything that has happened in the last few hours, but his resolve remains firm.
As they reach the entrance of the lab, Ash pushes the door open, and they are greeted by the warm, familiar face of Professor Oak.
"Ash, Delia, it's good to see you!" Professor Oak says, his voice full of warmth as he approaches them. His eyes then land on Golly, curiosity flickering in his gaze. "And who might this be?"
Ash exchanges a glance with Delia before answering. "Professor, this is Golly, my... my sister. We're here because we need your help."
Professor Oak raises an eyebrow, clearly surprised but welcoming. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Golly," he says with a nod. "What brings you all here today?"
Ash takes a deep breath. "We need to go to the United Region."
The warmth in Professor Oak's eyes dims, replaced by a shadow of concern. "The United Region?" he repeats, his tone growing serious. "Ash, do you have any idea what you're getting into? The United Region has a terrible reputation. It's a closed-off region—no planes go there, no one comes out. The people who live there... well, from what I've heard, it's like living in hell."
Delia remains silent, her face set with quiet determination, but Golly steps forward, her eyes meeting Professor Oak's with unflinching resolve. "We know, Professor," she says firmly. "But this is Ash's destiny. He is the Devil Prince, and it's his fate to go there and fulfill the prophecy."
Professor Oak looks between the three of them, his concern deepening. "Destiny or not, this is a dangerous path. Are you sure this is what you want to do, Ash?"
Ash nods, his voice strong and unwavering. "Yes, Professor. I have to do this. It's the only way."
Professor Oak lets out a heavy sigh, rubbing the back of his neck as he processes the weight of the situation. "I understand," he finally says, his voice tinged with resignation. "Just know that you'll always have a place here in Pallet Town, no matter what."
Ash steps outside of Professor Oak's lab, his heart heavy with the weight of the journey ahead. He knows that this isn't a path he can walk alone, and as he makes his way to the open field where his Pokémon are gathered, he feels a sense of determination wash over him.
Pikachu hops off his shoulder, ready to rally the others. Ash takes a deep breath and begins, "Everyone, I need to talk to you."
His voice carries across the field, and his Pokémon all turn to face him, each one attentive and loyal. Charizard, Sceptile, and the others, all powerful and experienced, stand by his side, ready for whatever comes next.
Ash takes a moment to gather his thoughts before continuing. "We're heading to the United Region. It's a place where the people are suffering under the rule of eighteen different kingdoms, and they need our help." He pauses, letting the gravity of the situation sink in. "I'm going there as the Devil Prince, and I want all of you to come with me."
He looks out at the sea of familiar faces, each Pokémon a testament to his journey, his growth, and his bond with them. "As the World Champion, I'm not bound by the six-Pokémon limit anymore. So I'm asking all of you—will you join me in this fight?"
The response is immediate. Every Pokémon steps forward, their expressions filled with determination and loyalty. They all nod, voices rising in a collective cheer of agreement. They're ready to stand by Ash's side, no matter what challenges await them.
Just as the moment of unity and resolve reaches its peak, a familiar, grating voice cuts through the air. "Prepare for trouble!" "And make it double!"
Ash's eyes widen as he turns to see none other than Team Rocket—Jessie, James, and Meowth—making their grand entrance. The trio strikes their usual pose, grinning from ear to ear.
"To protect the world from devastation!" Jessie declares.
"To unite all peoples within our nation!" James adds with a flourish.
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!" Jessie continues.
"To extend our reach to the stars above!" James finishes.
"Jessie!" "James!" "Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!" "Surrender now, or prepare to fight!" "Meowth, that's right!"
Before Ash can react, Team Rocket sends out their net cannons, capturing his Pokémon in one swift move. The nets close in, trapping Pikachu and the others as they struggle to break free.
Ash clenches his fists in frustration. "Not now, Team Rocket!" he shouts, his anger rising as he watches his Pokémon struggle against the nets. "Let them go!"
Team Rocket only laughs, their usual smugness evident. "Sorry, twerp, but these Pokémon are coming with us!" Jessie says, her grin widening.
Just as Team Rocket is about to make their getaway with Ash's Pokémon, a sharp whistling sound cuts through the air. A split second later, a gleaming shuriken slices through the balloon of Team Rocket's escape vehicle. The balloon pops with a loud bang, and the trio is sent spiraling into the sky.
"We're blasting off again!" they scream in unison as they disappear into the distance, leaving behind only a faint twinkle in the sky.
Ash watches in astonishment as his Pokémon, now free from the nets, regroup around him. He quickly looks around to find the source of the shuriken, and his eyes land on a figure standing at the edge of the clearing.
The figure is cloaked in dark attire, with a mask covering the lower half of his face. His posture is calm and confident, clearly a skilled ninja. Ash steps forward, gratitude in his voice. "Thanks for the help—"
But before he can finish, the ninja cuts him off, his voice cold and detached. "Don't thank me."
Ash blinks in confusion, sensing the tension in the air. "What do you mean?"
The ninja takes a step forward, his eyes narrowing. "I'm from the Aquarine Kingdom of the United Region," he says, his tone deadly serious. "And I'm under orders to get rid of you, Devil Prince."
Ash feels a chill run down his spine. The ninja's words hang in the air like a dark cloud, a stark reminder of the dangers that lie ahead in the United Region. His instincts kick in, and he quickly realizes that this encounter is just the beginning of the battles to come.
The air is tense as the ninja's words hang in the air, and before Ash can fully process what's happening, the ninja suddenly lunges at him with lightning speed. Ash's instincts kick in, and he narrowly dodges the strike, feeling the rush of air as the blade slices past where he was standing just a moment ago.
Ash's heart pounds in his chest. He's never been in a real combat situation before, and the reality of it is overwhelming. "I haven't even bothered the United Region!" he exclaims, ducking another strike. "Why are you doing this?"
The ninja remains silent, his attacks relentless. Ash can barely keep up, each movement pushing him closer and closer to the edge of the clearing. He's running out of room, and panic begins to set in as he realizes he's being cornered.
Just as the ninja is about to land a critical blow, Golly, Delia, and Professor Oak rush out of the lab, their expressions a mix of urgency and determination.
"Get away from him!" Golly shouts, swiftly pulling out a Pokéball and releasing her Mimikyu. The eerie Pokémon emerges, its cloth fluttering slightly as it steps between Ash and the advancing ninja.
The ninja pauses, assessing the new threat. Golly doesn't waste any time. "Mimikyu, now!"
Mimikyu slowly lifts the edge of its cloth, revealing the face hidden beneath. The moment the ninja catches a glimpse of whatever lies under Mimikyu's disguise, his entire body stiffens. His eyes widen in shock and terror, and within seconds, he collapses to the ground, his breath gone, his life extinguished.
Ash watches in stunned silence, his chest heaving from the adrenaline. The threat that had moments ago been so overwhelming now lies lifeless at his feet, taken down by a single, horrifying glance from Mimikyu.
Golly steps forward, returning Mimikyu to its Pokéball with a grim expression. "They won't stop, Ash," she says, her voice steady despite the gravity of what just happened. "This is only the beginning."
Delia and Professor Oak rush to Ash's side, their concern evident. Delia places a reassuring hand on his shoulder, while Professor Oak checks to make sure Ash is unharmed.
"Golly... did you really just murder that person?" Ash asks, his voice trembling slightly. He can hardly believe what just happened, and the thought of someone dying so easily, so quickly, is something he's struggling to wrap his mind around.
Golly's expression remains stoic, but there's a hardness in her eyes. "Ash, the governments in the United Region are sending people to murder you," she replies, her tone firm and unyielding. "They see you as a threat to their power, and they'll do whatever it takes to eliminate you."
She pauses, letting the weight of her words sink in before continuing. "You need to understand that this isn't a game. The people we're going up against are ruthless, and if you're going to survive, you'll need to be ready to do whatever it takes, even if it means killing."
Ash stares at her, his stomach twisting with unease. The idea of taking a life, even in self-defense, goes against everything he's ever known. But as he looks at the lifeless body of the ninja, he realizes that the world he's stepping into is far more dangerous and brutal than anything he's ever faced before.
"I don't like it," Ash admits, his voice quiet but resolute.
"You don't have to like it," Golly responds, her tone softening just a bit. "But you do have to accept it. If you're going to fulfill the prophecy and save the United Region, you'll need to train, to be ready for anything—even if that means taking a life."
Ash nods slowly, the reality of his situation settling in. He knows Golly is right, even if it goes against everything he believes in. The path ahead is one of blood and battle, and if he's going to survive it, he'll need to prepare himself for the harsh truths that come with being the Devil Prince.
Ash takes a deep breath and begins to recall all of the Pokémon that had been trapped in the net. One by one, they return to their Pokéballs, each giving Ash a reassuring look before disappearing in a flash of light.
Once his Pokémon are safely back, Ash pulls out a familiar Pokéball. "Charizard, I need you," he says, releasing his trusted partner.
With a mighty roar, Charizard appears, stretching its wings wide, ready for the journey ahead. Ash is about to mount Charizard when he notices movement beside him. To his surprise, Delia pulls out a Pokéball of her own and releases a Charizard as well. The massive dragon-like Pokémon stands proudly beside Ash's Charizard, its eyes full of experience and strength.
"Mom, you have a Charizard too?" Ash asks, surprised by the revelation.
Delia smiles softly, her eyes full of both pride and a touch of sadness. "There's a lot you don't know about me, Ash. But now's not the time for that. We need to get going."
Ash nods, still processing everything, but there's no time to dwell on it now. Golly steps forward, sending out her own Pokémon—Drifblim. The ghostly balloon Pokémon floats gently above the ground, its long tendrils swaying in the breeze.
"Ready?" Golly asks, her voice calm but filled with the urgency of their mission.
"Ready," Ash replies, mounting Charizard. Delia follows suit, climbing onto her Charizard with the ease of someone who has done it many times before.
They all turn to Professor Oak, who has been silently watching with a mix of concern and pride. "Take care, all of you," Professor Oak says, his voice warm but heavy with the weight of what's to come. "And Ash, remember, you're always welcome here."
Ash nods, feeling a lump in his throat. "Thanks, Professor," he manages to say, knowing that this farewell feels more final than any other he's experienced before.
With a final nod from Golly, they all take off into the sky, Golly's Drifblim leading the way. The wind rushes past them as they ascend, leaving Pallet Town—and the life Ash has known—far below. The journey to the United Region has begun, and with it, the fate of their world hangs in the balance.
As they soar through the sky, the cool wind whipping past them, Ash suddenly notices several dark shapes on the horizon. They're fast—much faster than anything he's ever seen. As the shapes draw closer, the roar of engines fills the air, and Ash realizes they're jets, sleek and menacing, heading straight for them.
"What's that?" Ash shouts over the wind, his voice tinged with alarm.
Golly's eyes narrow as she grits her teeth. "Those are jets from the Galecrest Kingdom," she replies, her tone sharp with urgency. "They know we're coming."
Before Ash can fully process what's happening, the jets unleash a barrage of missiles. The sky erupts in explosions as the missiles streak toward them.
"Charizard, dodge!" Ash yells, gripping tightly as Charizard veers to the side, narrowly avoiding a missile. Golly's Drifblim maneuvers skillfully, bobbing and weaving through the onslaught, while Delia's Charizard mirrors Ash's movements, expertly dodging the incoming fire.
"We need to fight back!" Golly shouts. "Drifblim, use Shadow Ball!"
Drifblim's tendrils glow with a dark energy before launching a barrage of Shadow Balls at the jets. Ash and Delia follow suit, commanding their Charizards to unleash powerful Flamethrowers. The fiery and ghostly attacks streak through the sky, colliding with the missiles and jets, creating bursts of flame and energy.
But there are too many jets, and the onslaught is relentless. Just as Ash thinks they might be gaining the upper hand, he feels a sharp, searing pain in his shoulder. He barely has time to register the impact before everything goes black. The last thing he hears is the horrified cries of his mother and Golly as he slips into unconsciousness, his body slumping forward on Charizard's back.
Delia's heart stops as she sees her son fall. "Ash!" she screams, her voice filled with terror and desperation.
Golly's face pales as she watches Ash go limp, her mind racing for a solution. "We have to get out of here, now!" she yells, pushing Drifblim to the limit as they try to evade the remaining jets.
The situation has turned dire, and with Ash unconscious and injured, the stakes have never been higher.
Here is a new chapter, and in this chapter, you can see how ruthless the United Region army is heading towards Ash. I hope you like it.
