BGM: Goron City - Day (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

Winter stared at Weiss in disbelief, blinking a few times as if she was seeing an entirely different person. She was watching her own sister casually eating Prime Rock Roast as if it was nothing.

"The rumors were true…" Winter said. "I… I thought the soldiers, Princess Ruby and Impa were joking."

"Hey, don't knock it until you try it! It's not so bad." Nora said, chomping down on a Rock Roast herself.

"You made a wish that you'd be immune to Death Mountain's fire. You would be okay with eating lava rocks."

Nora swallowed. "You got me there, but… come on, it's good~!"

Winter looked at her dish and closed her eyes while grimacing. Please tell me I am not going to regret this in a few hours… She thought as she took a nibble. "Ack!" She yelped, feeling the intense heat striking her tongue as she pulled away.

"Oooh, you alright?" Daruk asked.

"Ah think mah tath buths aw death now…"

"I think you ate one that just came out of the lava pools." Daruk said. "The trick for non-Gorons is to make sure it's cooled down enough to where it's nice and tender. Not boiling hot, not rock cold… just right."

"Buth Weith juth athe one thath wath weally fweth!"

Daruk laughed. "That's the little lady for ya! Her hunger is limitless!"

That's one way of looking at it… Winter thought

Weiss let out a happy sigh after she finished her rock roast, then noticed Winter's. "You gonna eat that?"

Winter pushed the rock roast her way as Weiss happily dug in.

"Look at her go!" Yunobo exclaimed.

"...How is she not full?" Cinder asked with concern.

"Her methabolithm ith quith sthrong…" Winter said, fanning her tongue.

"It's true! Little lady can eat like a queen and she'd still have room for seconds!" Daruk smiled. "Heck, she managed to outeat me a century ago, and I'm the biggest eater there is!"

"Aaaaah…" Weiss smiled as she finished Winter's. "Alright, let's head over to Rito Village!"

"Rigth." Winter nodded as Revali flew in as Weiss used the Sheikah Slate to warp on over to Rito Village.

Once at Rito Village…

BGM: Rito Village - Day (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

The trio had successfully warped over to Rito Village where they walked into the village. "Ah, I see the lights caught your attention." Revali said as he landed on the ground. "You took your sweet time, though."

"I was busy helping out Mipha and Daruk, and apparently one trial had me swim into the open ocean at dawn." Weiss explained.

"Trials, you say?" Revali raised an eyebrow.

Teba flew over. "Master Revali, the monument that showed up yesterday hasn't shown any signs of malice, yet Kass seems to be heavily interested." He said as he landed. "Oh, hello Weiss. Winter." Teba looked down toward the bald eagle. "L'il Revali."

The Eagle let out a small screech in greetings.

"Where's Li?" Weiss asked.

"He's investigating the Hebra Mountains." Revali explained.

"Then we thould meeth him onth we invethigath the ruinth." Winter said.

"...Winter, why do you sound like you licked salt off of a Talus for five minutes straight?" Revali asked.

"It wathn't thalt."

"Then what, it's not like you ate a prime rock roast or anythi-... you ate a rock roast, didn't you?"

"Weith math it thook eathy…"

Revali wingpalmed. "Daruk?"

"Nowa."

"Nora? That fire immune girl that takes baths in lava?" Teba asked. "...Somehow, I'm not surprised. I once visited the hot springs near Death Mountain and she told me she can swim in the lava. I thought she was joking but, once I took a fire immunity potion and followed her up the mountain… I was caught off guard how she could do simple backstrokes without a care in the world."

"And what of Cinder?"

"That Fire Lizalfos hybrid does not surprise me. Nora, on the other hand… she said that she wished upon a shooting star that she'd be immune to the heat."

"...Huh, I always thought wishing upon a shooting star was something that happened in folk tales." Revali said. "Still… the fact that you tried to eat a rock roast like your glutton of a sister…"

"I'm not that gluttonous!"

"You out-ate Daruk in an eating contest. No one could pull that off, not even Urbosa! Seriously, what is that metabolism of yours?"

Weiss shrugged. "I work out?"

"Please, even bodybuilders have their limits." Revali chuckled. "Oh well, what are we going to do with you?"

"I think my wife has some aloe for that burn on your tongue." Teba said as he flew upstairs with Winter following.

"So, shall we look into this together?" Revali asked.

"Race you over there." Weiss said as she manipulated the wind and flew off.

"Oh ho, you're on!" Revali flew after her.

Once there…

"I applaud your courage for coming here. The locations that will be revealed to you are of trials that will enhance the sleeping power within. Do not let your guard down."

Same as before, the pillars revealed images of the locations of where the trials would be taking place.

"Ah, the same as the other two…" Kass mused as he spotted Weiss and the two Revalis. "Oh, hello there! Didn't see you two coming by."

"Hey." Revali greeted.

"I presume you have a song for this?" Weiss asked.

"Ah, you're a sharp one. I do indeed have an unfinished song. My teacher wrote these particular lines about how the great Revali overcame his trials."

Revali sported a cocky smirk. "'Great", am I~? You hear that, Snowflake? I'm "Great"."

"Oh, don't get a big head, worm breath." Weiss playfully nudged him as Revali let out a chuckle.

"I presume you two are great friends." Kass smiled warmly before he started to play the accordion.

BGM: The Champions' Ballad 3 (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - The Champion's Ballad)

"Wind's ally soars the land of cloud~ Medoh's Champion, swift and proud~ The hero's power shall grow~ Seek trials monuments show~ One, shoot the flame dragon's horn-"

Wait, WHAT?! Weiss thought in surprise.

"Two, race down a peak rings adorn~ Three, shoot four targets to win~ Champion, the trials begin~!"

End BGM

"So? Did it move you?" Kass smiled. "Based on her face, I'd say it struck a chord with her! Now then, this unfinished song is my burden to bear… ah, it's definitely bringing in some inspiration. If you'll excuse me."

BGM: Kass' Theme (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

"Revali."

"Yes?"

"You mind explaining why you decided to, oh, I don't know, SHOOT DINRAAL'S HORNS?!"

"For the record, I had no idea Dinraal was a majestic beast that looked over Hyrule. Second, he was getting too close to Rito Village, so I thought I could shoo him away before he burned the village down."

"I dunno, he doesn't seem like the type of dragon to destroy anyone."

"And how would you know that? You have Din's Fire and that seems pretty destructive. Who's to say Dinraal doesn't have the same kind of power that could destroy a good chunk of Hyrule? Not all dragons are benevolent."

"...Okay, you got me there." Weiss lamented.

"Exactly." Revali nodded.

"Are you two done one upping each other?" A voice asked as they saw Teba approaching them with Winter behind him.

"That depends on what you mean by "done"." Revali said.

"So, what did the song have to say this time?" Winter asked, her tongue feeling a bit better.

"Song?" Teba asked curiously.

"Basically, one is to shoot Dinraal's horns. Second is… I'm assuming is somewhere at the peak of Hebra Mountain and the third one is shooting four targets." Weiss explained.

"...You have to shoot what?!"

"I did notice Dinraal getting a tad close to Rito Village these days…" Teba said.

"Then let's go pay him a visit."

End BGM

Once at Tanagar Canyon…

"Do you see anything?" Winter asked.

"He's coming." Teba said as he flew down. "We just have to wait a bit longer."

Weiss pulled out her crossbow and loaded up a bolt, slowly getting into position.

"I feel uneasy…" Winter said. "Gaining the power of the dragons is one thing, but to shoot at the dragon for a trial? What were you thinking, Revali?"

"Someone had to make sure Dinraal didn't destroy Rito Village."

"Fair enough-"

"And… I did it for bragging rights."

Winter facepalmed. "I should've known…"

Once Dinraal started to pass by, Weiss aimed and fired, striking the horn as it glowed. Once it struck the horn, the shrine rose up from across the canyon.

"See? That wasn't so bad." Revali said as he used his Gale to direct Dinraal away from Rito Village just in case.

"Personally, I don't think Dinraal would ever harm Rito Village, but that's just me." Weiss said as they crossed the canyon toward the other side, then they walked into the shrine after Weiss activated it.

BGM: Shrine (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

"To you who sets foot in this shrine… I am Shira Gomar. In the name of the goddess Hylia, I offer this trial."

Aim for Stillness

"Is this what it typically looks like in a shrine? I have to say… it's not what I expected." Revali said.

"Then what did you expect?" Weiss asked.

"Considering the ancient Sheikah with their technology, I was expecting something a bit more… futuristic."

"Okay, fair."

"Still, at least we know what it looks like on the inside." Teba said.

"A bit disappointing, but nothing we can't manage." Revali nodded as they walked over, using the fans to fly their way up as Weiss's pet bird picked up Winter and carried her as the Rito blew up rock walls with Bomb Arrows as they went by.

As they progressed and Weiss finding some Bomb Arrows in a chest, the Mage Knight landed on a rotating gear as she looked to see a fan being blown into some wind and making a caged door fall, blocking any path for a bomb to go through and explode the rock wall in front.

…Unless if you were a Lanayran who could simply manipulate the wind from below her and had her fly under and fired an explosive crossbow bolt to destroy the rock wall, then they all rode the wind up to the shrine to collect their Medoh Emblem.

End BGM

"Alright, to the mountain peaks?" Revali asked.

"Race ya there!" Weiss immediately activated Farore's Wind, sprouting her wings and flew off.

"As if I'd lose to a mere draconic pipsqueak!" Revali smirked and flew after her.

Teba sweatdropped. "They sure like to compete a lot, don't they?"

"They always did a century ago. It was in their blood." Winter said. "Two best friends competed all the time just to see who'd come out on top, especially when they playfully insulted each other."

"That… does not surprise me, somehow." Teba rubbed the back of his head as he picked up Winter with his talons and flew after them.

Once at the peak…

BGM: Mount Hylia (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild)

Weiss landed on the ground, sliding across the snow. "And we have a winner!"

"Please!" Revali leaned against a frozen tree. "The way you were going, I could've made a trip to Rito Village for a quick five minute nap and I still would've won."

Weiss' wings disappeared. "Oh yeah right, you were behind me."

"You might fly high, but I can fly higher. Better altitude and a better chance of winning against slowpokes."

"Oh, you can fly higher? I'm pretty sure Vah Medoh could soar through the air faster than you can."

"So you admit that you would take third place?"

"I said no such thing, featherhead!"

"I see you two are having a chest puffing contest?" A voice asked as they turned to see Li approaching them.

Weiss rolled her eyes. "He's just pretending he won."

"Oh, so that's the story, eh?" Revali smirked. "I'd like to see you fly higher than Death Mountain."

Li shook his head. "I see some things never changed for a century." He said.

"So, what's the story up here?" Revali asked.

"There's a peculiar ring just down there." Li pointed toward the trial gate. "I pass through it and another ring appears, but I take a few steps and it vanishes almost instantly.

"Let me try." Weiss said as she walked through the trial gate and took a few steps before the next gate vanished within seconds. "We need some speed."

"I tried that, but no matter how fast I run, I cannot seem to get toward that ring."

Weiss walked back up, rubbing her chin in thought and an idea came to her. She took a running start, jumped, pulled her Hylian Shield off her back and threw it down as she landed on the back, proceeding to shield surf through it and then went through a trial ring with seconds to spare.

"Meet you at the bottom, slowpokes!"

"Oh, you're on." Revali flew after her. "You don't know your way down this mountain better than I do, ice queen!"

"You sure? It's been a hundred years, you might have some rust in that brain of yours!"

"It's all coming back to me, Snowball!"

"I see they're racing again." Teba said as he landed behind Li.

"...How often did they do this a century ago?" Li asked.

"Any chance they could get whenever they hung out." Winter said.

"Gloating and playful banter with insults?"

"Yes."

"I see…" Li mused.

Once at the bottom…

Weiss went through the last trial gate after sliding past some Lizalfos before sliding to a halt as the shrine rose from the ground.

"...I know what you're gonna say, Flyboy. "You won" because of that wind tunnel in the middle of the course."

Revali landed on the ground with a chuckle. "Oh, if only you didn't instinctively pull out your paraglider to ride it out and gently descend… you probably would've beaten me by just a hair."

"Yeah yeah, gloat about it all you want." Weiss chuckled, both of them fist bumping as she activated the shrine as the two of them walked in.

End BGM

BGM: Shrine

"To you who sets foot in this shrine… I am Kiah Toza. In the name of the goddess Hylia, I offer this trial."

Master The Orb

"Alright, let's see what we have to do here." Weiss said as they both flew up to the top, only to find a chest at the top as Weiss pulled out a Falcon Bow. "I wasn't expecting a chest up here." She admitted as they both flew around to see what Weiss had to do.

"Hmm, what does this switch do?" Revali wondered, stepping on it as he watched the conveyor belt change directions and moved out toward the ramp. "Oh!"

Weiss curiously used Magnesis on a few of the metal plates, which, in turn, had an orb slam into it before rolling down toward where Revali was as he was still standing on the switch. "Oh… you're gonna have a little problem down below."

"Hmm? Oh!"

Weiss jumped down and used stasis on a see-saw before using her cryomagic to make a small ramp connecting to it as the orb rolled down and into a launcher. Revali flew down right as Weiss hit the button, causing the launcher to launch the orb out and into the switch, making the door open up.

"That's what I'm talking about!" Weiss smiled, high fiving Revali as they walked out.

End BGM

"Oh, did we miss anything exciting?" Winter asked as they saw them walk out.

"Nothing really to write home about." Revali said.

"So, I assume the last one to do is the target range." Teba said.

"I've a feeling that will be easy." Weiss said.

"Race you there?"

"You're on!" Weiss smirked as Revali flew off. "Hehehe~" She chuckled mischievously as she pulled out her Sheikah Slate, selecting the shrine next to the target range…

…And then the Sheikah Slate was swooped out of her hands.

"Wha?!"

"Did you really think I wouldn't know you'd try something like that?" Revali said, holding the Sheikah in his talons with a smug grin.

Weiss laughed. "You know what, I'm not even mad at that." She sprouted her dragon wings and flew off with Revali.

"Apologies for weighing you down." Winter said.

"No worries. I'm used to carrying passengers." Teba said as he latched onto Winter and Li as he flew off with the bald eagle flying side by side with him.

Once at the shooting range…

Weiss landed on the ground.

"Head's up!"

Weiss looked up and raised her hand up, catching the Sheikah Slate as Revali landed next to her, where they saw all the targets lighting up.

"I only need to do four? Should be simple enough." Weiss said as she jumped down and rode the wind with her own powers as she aimed her crossbow and fired at four individual targets effortlessly.

Once she got all four, a shrine rose up from the bottom.

"Way down there?" Revali wondered as they both flew down, reaching the bottom as Weiss activated the shrine.

"Actually… the last two final shrines teleported us to the Divine Beast, so… let's wait for the others."

"Oh? If you say so." Revali nodded as they both waited as Weiss launched a fireball into the air, sending up a flare for the others to see as they flew down to meet the duo, then they all went inside.

BGM: Shrine

"To you who walks in this shrine… I am Noe Rajee. In the name of the goddess Hylia, I offer this trial."

The Four Winds

"Alright, what do we got here…" Weiss wondered as they walked up and saw a rotating tower above them, complete with a bottomless pit and fans everywhere.

Teba and Revali flew around to see what they had to do, both of them narrowing their eyes before returning.

"So what's the situation?" Weiss asked.

"This tower is a bit complex. There are deactivated fans everywhere and switches inside the tower. If I were to wager a guess, these switches would activate the fans. I haven't seen the inside of this tower, but I imagine it's complex on the inside two. Once we activate all the fans, it'd be a smooth ride to the shrine… of course, it's going to be a tad difficult given how this tower is spinning." Teba explained.

"Great, so we're gonna be here for a while." Weiss said. "Alright… might as well get to work."

"Oooor." Revali activated his Gale and flew high into the air. "We forget all of that and just make a beeline toward the shrine."

Everyone looked at each other and with a nod, they opted for the second option. They flew up to make their way to the top with Weiss spotted a chest on the other side as she flew over to pull out a Shield of the Mind's Eye. She turned around and regrouped with the others, then they walked up to the shrine to collect the Medoh Emblem.

At that moment, they all glowed before being teleported over to Vah Medoh.

End BGM

"To the one who approaches this Divine Beast… in the name of the Goddess Hylia, I offer this trial. In exchange for Medoh's Emblems… you will be granted to tread through the realm of Revali's memories."

"My memories?" Revali raised an eyebrow.

"Those who lack determination will find this trial unforgiving. Do not take this place lightly, nor dismiss it as merely a world within your mind. The truth is much deeper than you know. Champion… you may only bring one with you."

"I will go, Weiss." Teba offered.

"Okay."

Revali looked at Weiss. "Whatever it is you think you're going to do in my head… don't screw anything up."

"I've done this twice, featherbeak. I know what I'm doing."

"I sure hope so."

Weiss and Teba both glowed before disappearing, finding themselves within the realm of Revali's memories.

"This illusory realm was created in the depths of Revali's memories. The enemy he faced had destroyed him due to his disadvantage. You must have him overcome his disadvantage to proceed. This battle is a trial of the soul. You must emerge victorious with only the tools provided."

"It is raining?" Teba wondered as they saw Revali struggling against Windblight, losing his arrows in the fight.

Weiss' eyes widened before clenching her fists. "Rito cannot see very well in the dark… and he had to fight this thing outside? Rrrrgh… that burns me up."

"So, what shall we do?" Teba asked.

"I'll be your beacons. You two focus on the light I give. We don't have much time!"

"Understood!"

Weiss ran over toward where Windblight was, right as he just nicked Revali.

"Nnngh…! Just a scratch…" He grunted as he spiraled out of the sky as Windblight aimed directly at Revali, ready to seal the deal…

…Unaware of a red flame being shot into the air behind him as Bomb Arrows struck Windblight directly in the head.

BGM: Worlds Converge - Teba and Riju (Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity)

Windblight screeched as Revali nearly crash landed on Medoh but he quickly recovered. "Who are-"

"Hey featherbrain! You might need to get that scratch looked at!" Weiss said.

"Weiss?" Revali landed on the ground. "What the hell are you doing here? Shouldn't you be dealing with Ganon with your princess?"

"There was a change of plans. Just sit still while I patch you up." Weiss said, healing his chest.

"I'm perfectly fine."

"In these conditions? You're lucky I made it in time!"

"Nnngh! If you two are-hup- done puffing each other's chests-hmmph!-I could use some more friendly light!" Teba said, dodging lasers being thrown at him.

"Right! Hang on!" Weiss made some glyphs to surround Windblight as fire shot into the air as Teba aimed and fired directly into Windblight's eye, stunning him and knocking him to the ground as Teba flew up and proceeded to fire a barrage of Bomb Arrows at him.

"Who is that?" Revali asked.

"The second best Rito warrior."

"Who's the fir-... oh! You finally admit it?" Revali smirked smugly.

"Do you want me to heal you or do you want me to smack you in the head?"

"Alright, alright." Revali aimed his bow at Windblight. "I wonder if I can aim well with you lovingly caressing my chest." He teased, which earned a soft punch to his gut. "Oomph!" He grunted as he released the string as a Bomb Arrow grazed Windblight's arm cannon. "Okay, I deserved that." He chuckled.

"Clearly!"

Weiss put her hand on Revali's chest and then threw a fireball at Windblight, where Teba aimed and fired.

"Interesting… healing with one hand and fire magic with the other?"

"I didn't know I could do that…" Weiss admitted.

"Hmm… curious tattoo you have there."

As Weiss and Teba continued to work together, Windblight immediately got annoyed and threw tornadoes around, forcing Teba to get out of the way but one sucked Weiss up. "Waaaaah!" She yelped as she was tossed into the air.

"Weiss!" Both Rito called out as Windblight aimed directly at the airborne Mage Knight and fired a laser, but Weiss's eyes turned draconic and used Nayru's Love, reflecting the laser back and striking Windblight, knocking him down a second time to stun him as Weiss fell back down, but Revali grabbed a hold of her with his talon.

"Got ya!" Revali said as he tossed her gently to the ground as he flew back up into the air right as Teba fired an arrow at Windblight deflected the arrow.

"Now, Master Revali!"

Revali nocked three Bomb Arrows at the Windblight.

"Some payback is in order…!"

He released the string as Windblight prepared to block with its arm, only for Weiss to hit it with an ice javelin to stun it once more and make it fall on its back… and, in turn, was peppered by Revali's Bomb Arrows.

"Once more, with feeling!" Weiss called out, snapping her fingers as a lightning bolt struck Windblight, where she manipulated the electricity to chain down Windblight, forcing it to watch as both Rito aimed high into the sky and unleashed a volley of Bomb Arrows.

Weiss put up a protective glyph barrier to surround her right as the entire top layer of Vah Medoh was carpet bombed, every inch of it was hit with a bomb arrow as Windblight let out loud screeches as every inch of it was covered in bomb arrows.

By the time the smoke settled and Weiss finished coughing, Windblight was no more.

End BGM

"Good riddance." Revali said as the Rito landed on the ground. "As much as I hate to admit it, I offer my gratitude for you saving me, Weiss. I owe you one."

"Yeah." Weiss nodded.

Revali turned to Teba. "Nice work out there. Who are you?"

"Call me Teba."

Revali smiled. "Well met, Teba." He said as both of them disappeared, leaving Revali by himself. "I hate to admit it, but… you're honestly better than I am, Weiss. I'm proud."

Once outside…

"So, how do you feel?" Weiss asked.

"Eh, about the same." Revali responded. "...How annoying though, you saved me twice."

"I believe the words you are looking for are: "Thank you"." Weiss gave him a friendly smirk.

"If you're looking for a "You're welcome"... I'm not that type of Rito." Revali chuckled, wrapping a wing around Weiss. "Not bad for an old timer though."

"I'm still a spring cucco."

Teba chuckled. "Ya know, I'm starting to grow fond of you two bickering."

"Yes, it's like… an old married couple." Li said.

"Oh please, I wouldn't be caught dead marrying this airhead!" Weiss said.

"Me? Her? Pah! As if." Revali rolled his eyes. "Besides, she's already taken in by the princess."

Weiss blushed a deep red. "How did you-"

"What, you thought Urbosa was the only one who figured it out?"

"Urbosa, I get, but-"

BGM: Revali's Theme - Accordion Short Ver (The Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild: The Champion's Ballad)

Weiss paused as they turned to see Kass playing a melody.

"Recall Medoh's champion of flight, before he fell to his fateful plight~ Revali's feat was a wonder to see, so the princess made her plea~"

End BGM

Kass turned his head. "Hmm? Oh, I'm sorry, was I interrupting something?"

Weiss glanced over at Revali. "This isn't over."

"Oh, I thought it was." Revali chuckled teasingly.

"Oh, you…!"

Suddenly, the Sheikah Slate started beeping as Weiss pulled it up out of curiosity, seeing it was a new addition to her summons.

Teba

"Hmm!" Teba mused before chuckling. "I am honored to come to your beck and call, Weiss."

After deciding not to write four stories at once, this story was on pause until JNPR: The Teal Mask was finished. Well hey, Teal Mask was finished, so... let's rock and roll again!
