Chapter 4

The morning of the 5th day after Zenki turned human...

"Zenki, Gokimaru-kun, we need to go to the town, we're going to run out of clothes if our training sessions continue in this fashion! All the clothes we use to train are full of rips and burn holes."

"You're right, Chiaki-sama, I'm nearly out of clothes I can use to train, and Zenki is being rather hard on his clothes since we don't have armor in human form."

"Keh, whatever!"

As they were nearing the town, Chiaki saw in the path someone very unwelcome.

.:Zenki, if that guy asks me I'm going to say that you're my boyfriend and Gokimaru is your little brother, please follow my lead! I hate that guy with a passion!:.

.:Okay, but you have to explain later what being someone's boyfriend or girlfriend means!:.

"Ara, Chiaki-san, you've got company today, who are they?"

"They're my boyfriend Zenki and his little brother Gokimaru, we're going to town to do some shopping, Shuuichi-san"

"I'm surprised that you have a boyfriend with the temper you have, Chiaki-san!"

"My temper is none of your bussiness, Shuuichi-san!""Now, let us pass!"

"Yare yare..."

.:Zenki, Gokimaru, thanks, I've always disliked him, but since he set free Vasara, I've absolutely loathed him! I have to use all my self-control not to set him on fire!:.

.:You're welcome, Chiaki-sama, I want to turn him into an ice statue and I've only met him for a few minutes!:.

.:I'll refrain from killing him, but if he bothers us with more than insults, all bets are off!:.

.:If he tries to curse us with a malediction like his father used to do, I'll let you kill him, Zenki!"

.:Good, Chiaki! That guy rubs me the wrong way, I also want to set him on fire!:.

"Chiaki having a boyfriend smells fishy, specially because she uses fire spells on people that arouse her ire. I thought she'd scare any possible boyfriend off!"

"Very true, Shuuichi, she used fire ofudas against me a couple of times that New Year day... You know..."

"We must spy on them to discover the means she uses to control a kishin, if we do, we can regain the standing of the Kidou family using that demon, under our control!"

"Do we have everything, Gokimaru-kun? We've been to three stores already!"

"Yes, Chiaki-sama, we can go back home now."

"Why do I have to carry all the packages? I feel ridiculous"

"Because you're the strongest physically of all of us, and won't get tired as fast carrying that weight!"

They started to go back to the Enno shrine, talking telepathically:

.:Chiaki, now that we're the three of us alone, can you explain what being boyfriend and girlfriend means?:.

.:How to explain it... It means that we're together romantically, in a kind of trial period to see if we would be good mates for each other, doing stuff together, that way we can go our own way if we're not good mates for each other..

.:Ah, that makes sense! Chiaki, do you want us to be boyfriend and girlfriend for real?:.

Chiaki blushed a glowing red, and answered:

.:I would like it very much, Zenki, you're the only person I would try to be together romantically, someone I like a lot and can fight alongside to. I also like Goki, but in a brother/sister way, you're my only family besides Saki-baachan and Jukai-oshou!:.

.:Good, I won't have to beat Goki, you're my woman from now on! Anyone who tries to mess with you or hurt you I reserve the right to beat to a pulp and fry with lightning!:.

.:I also think of you as a sister, Chiaki-sama, whatever pieces remain of anyone that tries to hurt you after Zenki is done, I will make disappear!:.

.:Thanks! Let's go home!:.

After lunch and a change of clothes, Chiaki, Gokimaru and Zenki went outside to continue training like they had done these past days... unaware that they were spied upon under the cover of the forest and bushes.

"We're been waiting for them to do something for a long while, Shuuichi"

"Quiet, Gouji, they've gone outside, let's see what they're going to do!"

Gokimaru used a staff about the length of the staff he used in his kishin form, circling Zenki and Chiaki, who were back to back, and they prepared an attack: Chiaki readied a Vajra and Zenki created lightning betwen his hands, where Chiaki was aiming her attack, and then shouted: "Raikouga!"

The two spies couldn't believe their eyes: A very large boulder to the right of them had become gravel in a matter of seconds, they were lucky the attack faced a different direction to where they were.

"Shuuichi, are you sure they are human? I've never seen an attack spell of this magnitude used by humans ever!"

"I thought Chiaki was human, but this boyfriend of hers I'm not so sure, he has the same name as the kishin she controls."

They watched while Gokimaru dodged most of Zenki and Chiaki's attacks, which left the three of them with tattered clothes, bruises and some burns, until it was nearly hour for dinner. Then there was the greatest surprise of the day for them.

Zenki said: "Why don't heal us today, Goki? I don't want Saki-baa to see us in this state, I have important things to tell her!"

"Oh, yes, of course! AKASHA ON!" "Kishin Goki, Tenshou Kourin!"

"WHAT? There's another kishin with them? We must investigate this further!"

"Not now, Shuuichi, it's nearly dinner hour, and we should consult your father on how to proceed further."

At dinner, things were going as usual, the three of them decimating the food, but when they were done, Zenki remained there.

"Is there anything you want to tell me, Zenki-dono"

"Actually, yes, I'm now your granddaughter's boyfriend!"

"Do you know what does it mean, Zenki-dono?"

"Chiaki explained to me: it's kind of a trial period to see if we could be good mates for each other, we do stuff together and be with each other. She says that if it doesn't work we can go our own way, but in this case, I don't think it's possible. I really want for it to work for us, Chiaki is the only woman I've felt attraction or affection ever, even when I was in kishin form, in which I'd rather die than admit I like her. Since I've become a human, most of the battle-lust and the hunger for possession seeds is gone, and I've been having feelings of attraction and affection for her much more intense than in kishin form."

"Then I have only this request for you: Love and cherish Chiaki, and protect her from harm, If you don't I will find a way to seal you, Zenki-dono!"

That night, when he went to sleep next to Chiaki, he said to her:

"Chiaki, would you mind if I went to sleep with you in my arms?"

"Uh, Zenki, why for?"

"Because I like being able to touch you, to perceive that you're here and I'm not alone, Just don't hit me tomorrow morning!"

"Okay, Zenki, but any time you want to sleep touching me, ask first!"

鬼道秀一 Kidou Shuuichi, the heir of the Kidou shrine, he was the person who freed Vasara, his father used to do maledictions.
