Chapter 11

In a remote, underground location, there was a man completely covered by black robes, talking to a spirit in the form of a ball of flame.

.:Shishaou-sama, I have an idea on how to test the kishin... Let's plant several possession seeds near where Ozunu's descendants live, the kishin and their master will have to deal with them and that would give us an idea of their actual strength!:.

"Good idea, Amon, that would give us an estimate of their strength before the next new moon, when I will give you a body." "Kurogarasu, grab a bag of posession seeds and spread them around the town where the descendants of Ozunu live! Then stay and observe!

Two days after the failed kidnapping attempt, early morning.

"Ohayou, Chiaki!"

"Ohayou, Zenki!"

"Let's get ready for the day, and go have breakfast!"

"I wonder, what does Gokimaru have in store for us today?"

"Probably more training to avoid what happened two days ago!"

After breakfast...

"Well, today we're meditating, but not in the usual way, we'll be doing a scan of our surroundings looking for threats!"

"Zenki, Chiaki-sama, close your eyes and link up your minds!"

.:We're linked, now what?:.

.:Follow me into the mindscape, I'm trying to sense the landscape and the threats within it.:.

.:I think that that faint light is a possession seed, it's quite near us, too, Do you think we can go and investigate?:.

.:I guess, Zenki, since you'll be incapable to concentrate unless you find out, we can go see if it's a possession seed!:.

In the forest near the Enno shrine...

Looking under a bush, Zenki, grabbed a possession seed, but as soon as he grabbed it it sent out tendrils, trying to possess him.

"Chiaki, hit me with a Vajra, please!"

Chiaki did so, and the tendrils disappeared. Then she slapped a sealing ofuda on the seed.

"Kuso...! I didn't expect that the possession seed would try to possess me! It latched onto my greatest desires, to regain my true form and to mate with Chiaki! I'm NOT going to mate with her unless she's willing to!"

"Thank you, Zenki, at least your will is strong as ever! But a possession seed being able to afect you is worrying..."

"That's true, Zenki, Chiaki-sama... I think I will be less vulnerable to the possession seeds since I don't have any great desires unless it's to protect you all!""But, I don't know why there are possession seeds near the shrine, I would have thought that Zenki would have eaten them all!"

"True, Zenki has eaten all the seeds we could find and there has been many months since we sensed any!"

"I'm angry at the situation, having a weakness like being vulnerable to possession is a pain, I'll have to attack the seed or the possession beast from a distance! Besides, I can't eat the seeds in human form!"

"About the seed, Zenki, Gokimaru, how about we keep it in a sealed container at the shrine? We'll do it again if we find other seeds, until Zenki regains his true form and eats them!"

"Sounds good, Chiaki, I'd like to be able to eat the seeds someday soon, but I have to be patient for now!"

"It's a good idea, Chiaki-sama, let's go back to the shrine, and inform Saki-baasama of everything!"

A little while later, at the Enno shrine...

"So, Zenki-dono, you found yourself vulnerable to possession?"

"Yes, Saki-baa, the seed latched onto my greatest desires, and in human form, I found out that I'm not inmune to possession like in my kishin form. To avoid being possessed I was resisting with all my will, and asked Chiaki to hit me with a Vajra."

"I put a sealing ofuda on the seed, and I think we should put the seeds in a sealed container until Zenki regains his true form and can eat them!"

"That's a good idea, my child!"

"I wonder, Chiaki-sama, Saki-baasama, Zenki, why are we seeing possession seeds again?" "I fear that there may be a new enemy, I'd have thought that Zenki had eaten all the possession seeds nearby!"

"We'll have to be alert, if seeds keep appearing, it's a possibility."

After the chat and having lunch...

"Gokimaru, how about practicing with the Vajra? I'd rather not be possessed, and it would be advantageous for me to be able to exorcize possession seeds on my own, like in my kishin form..." "I don't want to turn into a threat to you and Chiaki!"

"You're right, Zenki, let's meditate first to see if you can feel the Vajra's light in your soul, if you can't, Chiaki-sama can send you a Vajra to experiment with."

.:I'm trying, I can feel it faintly in me and through the bond, I'll have to do what Chiaki did with her flames, reach deep and bring the light out!:.

.:You can do it, Zenki!:.

Zenki started to glow faintly and the light was starting to concentrate in his hands.

.:Tch! I can't form a horn like my kishin form, I'll have to see if I can throw the Vajra towards an enemy or I'll have to punch him!:.

"Let's practice, Zenki, i'll transform into my kishin form and make shields you can hit!"

Several hours later...

"You did good, Zenki, you managed to hit the shields both at long range an close range!"

"I'm tired, though, I'd like to soak in the onsen for a while!"

"Wait a moment, I want to try something: Vajra on aku!"

"I didn't turn into my kishin form, Chiaki, but I feel full of energy!" " Thank you!"

"I want to go to the onsen with you Zenki... I want to cuddle a little bit!"

"Good idea, Chiaki! Let's soak a little bit enjoying being with each other!" "it will be a good way to relax!"

"I love being with you, Zenki, together we'll face any new threats, with help from Goki and baachan's support!"

"Less talking and more cuddling now, we both need it!"

"You say that a band of exorcists sealed the possession seed nearest to the Enno shrine, Kurogarasu?" "Project their images, Amon, do you recognize any of them?"

.:That girl, she's the latest descendant of Enno Ozunu, she can control the kishin Zenki, but today we didn't see him or the other kishin!:.

"Kurogarasu, head back to the town and plant more seeds, I want to see if more chaos will bring out the kishin, stay and observe until we have all the information we need"

Author's notes:

死者王 : Original character, main antagonist of this story, a necromancer of great power, and an enourmous hatred of Enno Ozunu. His name means "King of the Dead"

鴉紋: Amon, one of Zenki's first enemies after he was unsealed, an evil sorcerer.

黒鴉: Kurogarasu, Shishaou's familiar, an enormous black raven.
