How did it come to this?

The once blazing star in the sky was being overtaken by a dark forecast. Precipitation had already begun.

Rainfall is a luxury in Vacuo, one that ushered in a natural disaster or natural remedy. Drowning land and homes was the more likely outcome but once in a blue star in the night sky, a miracle would arrive. Thirst and hygiene would be quenched and sustained.

This is one of those moments.

Sun didn't care for the crowds' cheers and cries. He lay on his back with his body facing the sky. He cherished the droplets of water touching his tongue. It gave him reason enough to keep on surviving. He got this far, he needed to continue.

Mustering whatever strength in his body. He turned his body to allow himself to be pushed upward.

Once his courage and motivation peaked, he stood on his two legs. His tail was cut in half, and he leaned on his weapon, once a 3-pointed staff that could collapse into a nun-chuck, but now was severely weathered and broken that would make anyone believe it was from years of battle. In actuality, there was only this much damage within the last 30 minutes.

Blood dripped from his body, his aura struggling to heal him. The gash across his exposed chest and deep wound in his abdomen.

The noises of the crowd soon became clearer the more he focused his faunus senses.

"Please! Stop this!"

"Someone stop them, it's going too far!"

"Sun, please just surrender."

He heard their cries, but to him, it didn't matter. He was not worth panicking over. Sun smiled nevertheless, truly appreciating their compassion. It was more than he could ever deserve.

"What are you smiling for? Making peace with your end?" A voice cut through all of the others like hot iron. Sun left his peaceful expression immediately, in front of him was the one he was combating.

The man who would lead him to his goal, Jaune Arc. The current heir to a legendary clan of huntsmen.

"Why the long face? You seemed so content just now." Jaune smirked as he gazed at Sun's serious expression.

"It's truly saddening that you weren't born for greatness, Sun; otherwise, maybe you would have had a chance at beating me." His condescending attitude mirrored the twirls of his sword. Noticing his prey not talking, Jaune continues.

"You should have taken my offer. Otherwise, we wouldn't be in this predicament. Don't be like the other's Sun. I can't lose you too." Sun flinched at Jaune's perverse expression. Soon that disgust became rage.

"What about the coalition?! They were your friends, brothers in arms, Jaune?! Were they all just pawns to you?!" Sun got into his stance.

"No, I will cherish them for the rest of my life. Truly something special was there between all of us."

"Then why?!" Sun glared aiming his weapon.

"Because you exist, do you know how rare it is for me to feel excitement, pride, and longing for something else? When you are as strong as me, everything becomes easy to obtain. I have tasted the women of my team as well as RWBY, I have battled the strongest and deadliest Grimm our world has ever seen, and I have developed bonds with the brothers in bonds that will last the test of time. But none of them, not one, comes close to you." Jaune smiles, stroking his sword and licking the blood that belonged to Sun.

"When you are so strong, all the light is taken from your life. But you, only you Sunny boy. Did you make me whole again?" Jaune laughed; in an instant, he leaped forward and swung with power and speed.

Sun saw the blade and backflipped away from the attack. His staff keeps him safe and stable until his aura is recharged.

"You are the only one; you never took my invitation of friendship, always by yourself trying to help others; you even bested all the others. Yet never attempted to assert your place in the hierarchy, never attempted me."

Sun dodged strike after strike, each weave he performed the faster his aura was recharging.

"Do you know how it feels to watch you struggle and triumph like you do? Someone of low-born, your genetics and standing are inferior to mine but yet you preserve. Oum, it has me so excited!"

Sun deflected a strike before countering with a spinning backkick. Despite his strength returning and feeling better due to his aura, Jaune was the absolute. It didn't matter to him.

The blonde knight smiled with the eyes of a man growing impatient. "Oh Sun, I can't wait anymore. Either you will break before me or climax with me."

Sun, mentally fortified, continued his strikes, each one landing despite Jaune's attempts at dodging or blocking. Never losing that perverse smile.

Sun did his best to deflect the attacks, but eventually, one hit landed, a simple sword slash that not only broke his aura but left a long gash vertically across his torso.

With a growl, Sun tried to use his semblance, not caring for the consequences, but Jaune immediately grabbed his neck. Lifting him off the ground, Jaune could only smile as the downpour hit both of them.

Sun felt his body weakened. No aura, his weapon nearly breaking, his body was broken and scarred. Due to all of these factors, his mind left for a different place, no longer focusing on the present.

Sun thought about his life up until this point all the people and homes he lost. It ruminated him. His constant failures at protecting or leaving behind his past identities were catching up to him. With a sigh, he thought back to a time, a time when everything hadn't gotten to hell.

He thought back to a time when he wasn't called Sun Wukong. But Simia of Vacuo. The small child that lived a peaceful life with his mother and aunt...

"Goodbye Sun, you have been interesting." Jaune's words echoed as Sun started to lose consciousness. This allowed Sun to fully immerse himself in the past, a journey that led up to this moment.
