Chapter 25 The BlackList
Sean slowly woke up from his bed in DC as he yawned.
"Man I need a vacation." Sean said sitting up.
Only to be pulled back down.
"You don't have anything to do today."
Sean smirked seeing Karai in her naked view smiling lovingly at him.
"No but." Sean tried to say before his phone rang making her frown about to smash it but he stopped her.
"You would think there would be less calls since Crime is down a lot." Karai said making him chuckle and answered.
"Yeah?" Sean asked.
"It's been a long time Sean."
Sean raised an eyebrow knowing who this was.
"Red?" Sean asked getting up.
"I'd turn on the news in a couple minutes for whats about to happen." Red said.
Sean frowned before doing so.
"Eye Witness reports does confirm that one of the most dangerous men alive known as Raymond Red Reddington has been apprehended by government officials less than 10 minutes ago. Now we're not told exactly what happened." A newsman said.
"What are you playing at? You're not easy to capture." Sean said.
"Who says I was? The Newsman whose wife is cheating on him with another woman?" Red asked making him snort. "Lets just say...Things have changed. I imagine Director Cooper will be contacting you any second now." Red said.
Thats when his phone rang again.
"Speak of the Devil." Red said hanging up.
Answering again.
"Director Cooper?" Sean asked.
"Kruger. I'm asking you to come to a secret black site." Cooper said.
"Oh boy." Sean said hanging up.
"Whats going on?" Karai asked.
"An old friend being himself as usual." Sean said getting dressed.
Later
Sean smirked seeing Raymond in a big box.
"Honestly the Irony of the situation is beyond laughable. Seriously. Why in the hell would you of all people surrender to the same people you screwed over?" Sean asked making him smirk.
"Desperate times call for desperate measures as someone you know once said." Red said.
"Hmm. What is this about?" Sean asked sitting down in a chair.
"At the moment. Stopping someone from hurting innocent people due to his desire for revenge for what the country did to him. I asked for you here since people listen to you more than most." Red said.
"Who are you trying to stop?" Sean asked
"Ranko Zamani." Red said making him grin.
"Now how would a deadman be involved? Unless of course US intelligence screwed up again as usual." Sean said.
"Check the flight manifest and you tell me." Red said.
Sean walked into the observing room.
"I need airport surveillance from everywhere in the East Coast now." Sean said getting people to do just that.
"Ranko Zamani is dead." Agent Reseller said.
"Is he?" Sean asked before said man appeared on the screens. "Came in hours ago under a false name. Once again the Government screws up as usual." Sean said.
"So whats Reddington's interest in this?" Cooper asked.
"Even he can't stand civilians being killed for pointless reasons. I've known him for years before the Merge. Taught me a lot of things. How do you think I run the Legion so efficiently." Sean asked.
"You learned from him?" Reseller asked.
"Sometimes the best mentors are the ones the world deems the worst people out there. As you can clearly see." Sean said.
"Granted. So what does he want in return?" Cooper asked.
"Don't know. I assume something is happening that he's come out of the shadows. But thats a story for another time." Sean said going back out.
"So the government makes another screw up in which case someone dangerous is in country. Right under their noses again. Makes people wonder if their actually even trying." Raymond said.
"No one is perfect in honesty. Which is a good thing since if the world actually was fully perfect...Think how boring it would be." Sean said making him chuckle.
"How very true. Now I'm willing to help out but besides you the only person I speak to is Elizabeth Keen." Reddington said making him roll his eyes.
"Who the hell is Elizabeth Keen?" Reseller asked.
Later
Sean watched as Red was talking to Keen while he was in the observation room.
"Has Keen ever had contact with Reddington before?" Cooper asked.
"Knowingly? No. Unknowingly yes. Lets just say theres a lot about her you have yet to know and no I won't divulge what I know since thats not my business to say. Just know she's no criminal nor an enemy." Sean said as she came in.
"What did you tell him?" Keen asked.
"About?" Sean asked.
"How did he know all that? Private information about my family?" Keen asked.
"Why didn't your Father's criminal background show up in your background?" Reseller asked.
"Cause some things are not known to everyone." Sean said.
"I think we need to contact SWAT commander at Quantico." Keen said.
"This is nonsense he's bluffing." Reseller said.
"Red doesn't bluff when it comes to stuff like this. Now while Keen may be new she's someone who takes a threat serious. And thats good enough for me. Mobalize a Clone Commando unit." Sean said getting Cooper to do that.
"What do you know about me?" Keen asked making him look at her.
"More than you do." Sean said as they left. "So Zamani is after a general's daughter. Any idea as to why?" Sean asked.
"Not yet. I don't know him that well." Keen said.
"Then you better figure him out soon since my belief is he's gonna do something involving her that will not end well." Sean said.
Later
A convoy with the girl known as Beth was being escorted to a secure location.
"We're still moving sir." A commando said.
"Be on alert. Knowing Zamani he's got something special planned." Sean said.
"Roger that sir."
Thats when a they came to a road block.
"You gotta be kidding me." Reseller said.
"Just go around." Revy said as the first car went back.
When the second one that had Liz and Beth inside turned a truck rammed into them.
"ENEMY FIRE!" A commando yelled as they took fire from some armed men.
"Damnit!" Sean yelled as his armor appeared before flying to them.
Keen held Beth close as the car flipped sideways.
"You want to save the girl. Put this on her." One of the men said handing her a gas mask making her take it and put it on her before she was pulled up.
"SHIT!" Revy yelled as they took fire.
"These guys are good." Reseller said.
"I'd be impressed if they weren't shooting at us." Revy said before they stopped making them look seeing them grapple down a bridge to the water in a boat and left.
"Sir, they got away with the girl." Reseller said.
"Figures." Sean said as he landed next to them.
Later
"It's been four hours. Your people haven't made any demands." Liz said to Reddington.
"My people? I told you Zamani would go after the girl. Thats all I knew." Red said.
"How does she fit into all this?" Sean asked sitting down.
"Why not have Keen figure it out. You're supposed to be a profiler. Shouldn't you have a theory?" Red asked.
"I...I don't know what he's planning all I know is he's a Terrorist." Liz said.
"And why do you think he became one?" Reddington asked.
"Excuse me?" Liz asked.
"Typical. You all think people become what they are on a whim or simply because they're born evil. No...Zamini became what he is because of Beth's father." Sean said.
Letting Red into the main room where photos and theories on Zamani were on a wall were seen.
"Well, at least your government knows what he looks like." Red said before seeing another man in a photo. "Oh my goodness. I haven't seen him in years. Interesting fellow. Completely unrelated to this." Red said.
"Dude...Focus." Sean said amused.
"Your all looking at the wrong person. The Chemist." Ramnond said moving some pictures around of people he knew.
"Hmm." Sean said before looking at the new chart he made.
"This is about payback." Sean said.
"Payback for what?" Copper asked.
"For what Beth's father did over seas." Sean said.
"Zamini is sick. He's carrying a virus that makes him dangerous if he dies. Or at least it would have before Immortal science started curing everything left and right so easily." Liz said.
"Yeah...And how did he get it?" Sean asked.
"Well...Her father bombed a chemical plant near his village. He survived...His family didn't...It is about Revenge. He's gonna use Beth to settle the score. Make him feel the same pain of losing his family." Liz said.
"I never could stand this kind of Revenge with innocents caught in the crossfire. There are lines one shouldn't cross." Reddington said.
"You sold government secrets to our enemies." Reseller said.
"And you never worked with evil just as bad before?" Sean asked making everyone pause. "For all the talks of Justice and the Law...Every Government I know has people who do whatever the hell they feel like and make excuses for their actions. At least when the Legion does things we're being dead honest and not hiding behind excuses. Thats why people trust us more than government." Sean said.
"So how does the girl fit into this fully? Whats his endgame?" Reddington asked.
"He's gonna use Beth to deliver a chemical weapon." Liz said.
Later
Reddington laughed seeing Sean's personal home in DC.
"I see you still have nice taste." Reddington said making Sean chuckle. "Well, what is this?" Reddington asked seeing the Reality stone in a display case. "I didn't take you for a jewelry fan or is this part of some collection? Trying to collect them all like your friend the collector from that Avengers universe as you call it now? I always wanted to meet the man." Reddington said making him laugh.
"Uh no. Thats not a jewel. That...Is one of the most powerful objects in this new Universe. It's called the Reality stone." Sean said.
"And why do you call it that?" Reddington asked as Sean took it out before snapping his fingers as a high class meal appeared on the table making him laugh. "Name says it all. Much like all Immortal abilities to make anything from thin air. I assume Arthur had something to do with this. He always did plan in advance for each universe. The Titans were the greatest ones I ever saw. Speaking of which hows the King himself since Skull Island?" Reddington asked.
"How did you...Were you spying on me?" Sean asked.
"Hardly. That man Varrick went into a rant about how you denied him a perfect skull to collect. I disliked pouching endangered animals. Being the last of his kind Kong must feel very lonely. Never seeing his own kind and yet protects everything else on that island. Of course...If that theory of yours is correct there could be more down below." Reddington said.
"Oh it's definitely proving to be more than that." Sean said.
Next day
Liz's husband had been attacked by Zamani who questioned how she knew about his plans but she refused. So now her husband was on life support and then she attacked Reddington demanding to know if he sent him.
Only for him to escape curtsy of one of his associates.
"Honestly." Sean said walking with him.
"I figured Liz would be unhappy about me sending him but I didn't expect a jab in the neck." Reddington said.
"Which is why I always plan for every contingency. The ones that do come to mind at least." Sean said making him chuckle.
Thats when they found Zamani.
"Hello Zamani." Sean said making him smile.
"It's been a while my young friend." Zamani said as they walked off.
"I know you pissed about what happened all those years ago but taking the girl. You're lucky I'm not doing anything to you right now to find her." Sean said.
"Oh this is about much more than one girl my friend. This is about the Children." Zamani said as a group of Children passed them by. "60 years from now when everything is beyond better for everyone...They'll continue talking about this day...And you my friend will make sure what happened to me and my family...Never happens again." Zamani said walking away.
"I swear." Sean said calling Liz.
"Where is he?" Liz asked.
"With me and no he doesn't have the tracker since we removed it. Now we just spoke with Zamani. He said this was about the Children. Did you see anything last night? Don't think about your husband. Think about him. Did you notice anything?" Sean asked making her think real hard.
"I saw a tattoo on his hand." Liz said.
"No he wouldn't have one it's against his people's culture." Sean said.
"Wait...No not a tattoo...It was a mark...From the DC Zoo. Zamani is gonna bomb the Zoo." Liz said.
"Head there and get to her. I have an old friend who's good at disarming those things. She'll be there." Sean said.
Liz had arrived at the Zoo before finding Beth.
"It's gonna be ok Sweetie." Liz said before seeing a red head woman with White skin and Golden Amber eyes. "You the one Sean sent?" Liz asked.
"Yup. Name's Regina now just give me a quick minute." Regina said doing her work.
"Nice to see you again Regina." Reddington said as they approached before she deactivated it.
"This is child's play compared to the more dangerous work I've done." Regina said as the FBI and Beth's father arrived before she rushed to him.
Later
"Your gonna have him given a deal?" Reseller asked in disbelief.
"Zamani was a small fish compared to the other people he knows. People who you don't even know exist. Criminals on a whole different level." Sean said.
"And he just gains immunity for this list of people he knows?" Cooper asked.
"No. He's an informant giving us the edge against these people. And that is something you cannot throw away. Now while Justice department may not be totally happy about it...When haven't they made deals with just as dangerous people before?" Sean asked amused.
"You have no faith in the government do you?" Reseller asked.
"No it's not that. I think it could be better if certain idiots stop screwing up and stop screwing people over for money or power. All it takes is the right people in charge and everything runs smoothly. Simple as that." Sean said.
"This list of his...What does he call it?" Cooper asked.
"The Black List." Sean said.
Later
Liz was cutting the Carpet to replace it since it was soaked with blood.
When finding the hard wooden floor she found some compartment before opening it up seeing some box and brought it up.
"What the hell?" Liz asked opening it up seeing a large amount of cash and Passports with Tom's face on each one.
Meanwhile
Reddington was in a luxury suit when Liz walked in and knew from her facial expression something was wrong.
"You discovered something very interesting about your husband haven't you?" Red asked.
Author's note: Yeah not very long or exciting since the first episode never really is at first. Next one will be much more exciting. Anyway I'm gonna be taking a break for a while since...My dog isn't feeling so well and I'm worried we're gonna have to put him down. So I might be gone for a while. I appreciate your understanding.
