Chapter 29: Pure

Wakoku

The various lands of Wakoku had been merged, the people were disoriented and noticing with the lands joined, their seafaring way of life had ended. However, the arriving parties weren't concerned with this development, having come to do their own mission.

A rather petite young woman with short hair, pointy ears, a single horn emerging from her forehead, and small eyebrows, she has dark blue hair, wearing a midriff-exposing dull green bio-mechanical uniform.

Shuten- Heir to the Rainbow Hellspawn/Fiend/Devil Evil Beings/Royal Guard of Pure.

A greenish-gray-skinned humanoid with a single golden eye in the middle of his face with no visible nose. Tall, muscular, and appearing to be older than he truly is. He wears a red bio-mechanical uniform.

A waif-like young man of average height with messy black shoulder-length hair, pale-white skin, and black sclera heterochromatic eyes with a violet iris in the right eye with a red iris in the left. He wears a dark-purple bio-mechanical uniform that is two-piece to expose his midriff.

Croco- Heir to the Rainbow Reptile Undead Evil Beings/Royal Guard of Pure/Vice Commander of Pure's Royal Guard.

And a tall, handsome young man with dark pink hair, pink-iris eyes, a two-piece bio-mechanical dark brown outfit exposing his midriff- having a hood on the top half and an ankle-length cloth covering his pants/shoes.

Griff- Heir to the Rainbow U.L.F. Evil Beings/Royal Guard of Pure/Commander of Pure's Royal Guard.

They turned to see that their protectorate and leader had clumsily fallen on their face after landing.

A tall, blue-skinned, well-endowed young woman with blue irises with red pupils, two blue horns that jutted upwards emerging from the sides of her head, a two-piece, bio-mechanical priest-style outfit that was more promiscuous as she was very buxom and revealed her midriff. She wore a necklace of dark-blue prayer beads and wore sandals. She had blue feathered wings emerging from her back and a leonine blue tail emerging from her backside. Despite appearing inept, she had an innate aura of charisma and leadership due to her parentage.

Pure- 1st Child of Nefarious.

"They say that no man chooses evil because it's evil, but because it grants happiness. The good one seeks. But we Evil Beings...Akujin seeks only evil," said a stuffy, gluttonous voice as a human-shaped paper figure phased through the ground to greet them. It was a shikigami, a paper talisman used for a variety of uses for Wakoku sorcerers including long-distance communication.

So we're not fully trusted..., thought Griff.

Shuten helped Pure to her feet.

"Stop being a baby. You gotta set an example to your younger siblings.," the oni girl snapped.

"I-I'm sorry.," Pure cried out.

This girl is an eyesore., thought the voice behind the talisman.

"Pure, darling, I know you're eager to play with your new toys, but let's not forget why we're here," the paper figure spoke, its voice grating and echoing as if it was speaking through a mouthful of rice crackers. The talisman began to unfurl into a scroll, revealing a map of the merged lands of Wakoku.

"You know of Lady Pure's name?," asked Griff, the dark-pink-haired leader of Pure's Royal Guard.

"Of course. My intel is the greatest of the Great Ones. I Amanozako, the leader of the East-," said the voice.

"Don't you mean fake leader?," asked Shuten, which irked the voice behind the talisman.

"Tamamo-no-Mae, the previous Great One vanished out of the blue. Such a tragedy.," the voice replied with false sympathy.

Griff thought of what had been explained to him beforehand by his Black Faction leader-

Earlier

Zeboiim-Zoar

Griff was kneeling before the leader of the Black Faction U.L.F. group a towering, black cap-wearing humanoid with dark blue skin, a square-shaped nose, and a medium lengthy beard around his neck; he wore a black military bio-mechanical uniform with a black overcoat draped over his shoulders and black gloves on his hands. His tone of voice was easily the deepest and most cold sounding of the group.

Dominate- Black Evil Being King.

"You want to work for her?," asked the blue-skinned humanoid as he glanced at Pure tripping.

"She is the Eldest and therefore has the rightful claim to the throne.," he said. An indigo-skinned humanoid openly scoffed behind him.

It was Monstrosity, a tall humanoid with bulky musculature and a manly frame, round ears, clawed dinosaur feet with a long leonine tail, and a round, featureless mask of yellow coloring covering the top portion of the face, but stopped at the top half of the fanged mouth. His skin was dark indigo and possessed a mane of blue hair that went down his back. He wore a black bio-mechanical sleeveless tank top with baggy pants.

Monstrosity- Heir to the Black U.L.F. Evil Beings/Royal Guard of Malice.

"Why she is the eldest, she has the same issues as her mother, Her Majesty, Eve. Mainly, her naivete.," Monstrosity explained.

"You're just mad because the previous Great One passed you over.," Griff retorted.

Dominate exhibits a brief display of resentment.

Dominate's eyes narrowed behind his singular eye as he heard the words leave Griff's lips. The resentment was palpable, a silent fire burning within him as he clenched his fists. His large frame tensed, the muscles in his neck bulging with the effort of containing his anger. The room grew quieter, the air thick with unspoken tension as the other heirs exchanged cautious glances. They knew better than to provoke the volatile nature of their ally.

Dominate then calmed down as his feelings numbed with despair.

"Of course...I'm defective.," Dominate spoke as if speaking to himself.

"In any case, we have Lord Malice. And he is the perfect Evil Being.," Monstrosity told Griff.

"What's with your attire? It's grayish, but the shade is odd.," Dominate observed.

Evil Beings are color-blind aside from the colors of the Eye family of the Undead family, which denotes their names., thought Griff.

"Lady Eve, Her Majesty has created a new faction called the Rainbow Faction. And I will be Lady Pure's champion.," the young man explained.

"Well, good luck with your efforts.," Monstrosity replied half-heartedly.

Present

Wakoku

Amanozako's shikigami crossed its arms as the voice asked-

"Well, what you do what? It's been annoying since that Akame girl came in and wrecked my operations via my pawns. She even killed my precious Amanojaku during one of her escapades. Give her to me and we'll be even. What do you say?"

The paper scroll fluttered in the breeze as the voice of Amanozako grew more insistent. The group exchanged glances, some showing excitement, others caution.

"She doesn't get it. We're here to kick her out since she's ignored the summons.," Shuten said before Tyto slapped the back of her head.

"Let Lady Pure speak.," the owl-girl scolded her as the oni rubbed the back of her head.

Pure got to her feet as she bowed and she requested-

"Please step down and find the whereabouts of Lady Tamamo-no-Mae. Please?"

The shikigami rolled its eyes before folding back into a square, the voice dissipating as the talisman phased back into the ground. Pure straightened her posture, her cheeks flushing with determination as she spoke more confidently-

"I want to marry Lady Tamano to unite our cause."

Griff seemed to be disheartened by the statement as if feeling resentment for her decision despite him being her sworn protector.

"You dyke! You're just like your mother, Eve, acting like you're holier than the rest of us! Glad she got locked up and tortured for centuries! Shame she didn't die!," Amanozako's voice snapped.

"Ms. Amanozako. You are a usurper. The throne does not belong to those who aren't Great Ones.," Pure replied.

The scroll grew agitated, the paper ruffling as the voice grew angrier.

"If you want me off my throne! Then make me! That's the Akujin way!" she barked as the shikigami burned up.

"So you've chosen your doom? A pity.," she said before turning to her guard as she spoke more casually-

"W-was that good?"

Pure looked around at her Royal Guard, a mix of hope and anxiety in her eyes. The group remained silent for a moment before breaking into laughter. Even the stoic Magus couldn't help but chuckle at Amanozako's outburst.

"Way to take charge, Princess!," Croco boasted as she slapped Pure on the back much to Griff's chagrin.

"She deserves more respect.," the dark-pink-haired man retorted before Croco tugged on his right cheek.

"Being smug like that is gonna make enemies. Modest but firm and not resorting to violence for kicks is the right path.,"

"That's not very Evil Being to say something like that.," Magnete argued.

"Who decided we're Evil? Humans do all kinds of sins and some eat people. Are we any different?," asked Croco.

"We're not fitting of their status quo. That's why we're their Evil.," Magus replied.

"This kind of talk of blasphemous.," Tyto remarked.

"I'm hungry. Where's the nearest inn?," asked Wally.

"Don't change the subject.," the owl girl retorted.

"I wonder what the hag's like? I can't wait to experiment on her.," Gear remarked.

"I think she'd tear you apart. Lady Pure is the only one of us who can take her on.," Polypheus replied.

"And she's got all kinds of these Evil Beings called Yokai that are really creepy.," Dicornus spoke while darting his eyes in paranoia.

"Don't be such a scared cat.," Oak said cheekly.

"So Princess? What's our next move?" Scorpio asked.

Pure took a deep breath.

"We march on and take down everyone. No killing of our fellow kin or bystanders.," the princess replied.

"It is a pragmatic choice. Such benevolence.," Templar noted.

"Sure.," Muraskime said with a blasé tone.

"We follow your orders.," Griff spoke.

The Royal Guard of Pure looked at each other, a mix of excitement and trepidation on their faces. They knew that facing Amanozako would be no easy task, but they were determined to stand by Pure's side and restore order to the lands of Wakoku. At least from an Evil Being's perspective.

Local Inn

Pure's group had disguised as humans, resembling human versions of themselves as they found an inn to rest for the night.

Pure took the lead, her confidence growing with each step she took. They had to blend in, to not alert anyone of their true nature or intentions. The inn was a quaint, wooden building with lanterns hanging outside, casting a warm glow into the dim evening. As they stepped inside, the smell of roasting meat and the sound of laughter filled their nostrils and ears. The room was packed with a mix of humans of various standings all of them seemingly enjoying their evening meals.

"Queen Hinowa and Lady Rinzu have really reformed these countries. Sucks that we can't fish.," remarked one of the men.

"Yeah, whoever did that really ruined our livihood. We're fisherman and seafarers by trade.," said another.

Pure then thought of how her father, Nefarious had united the landmasses into a Neo Pangaea as she overheard the conversation.

Magus walked over to the men and flaunted her bosom as she asked-

"Say, there's rumors of a rather pompous woman who opposes Hinowa's methods? Mind praytell is their dominions?"

The fishermen's eyes widened at the mention of the infamous Amanozako.

"She popped out of nowhere when that bastard, Zuou died and when Lady Hinowa and Rinzu disappeared. She's running a place where rubes like us go in and never come out.," he explained.

"She gives off a really demonic vibe. Like a monster out of a story.," the other remarked.

"Wanna sleep with me and tell me more?," Magus said as she flaunted her body.

"Sorry, but I'm married and I don't want to upset my miss.," the first man spoke.

"You want to talk to her?," asked the other man.

"Let's say, she needs to withdraw to more favorable frontiers.," Magus replied.

The fisherman nodded as he took another sip of his sake.

"Assassins Huh?," asked the first man.

"Something like that.," Magus replied.

"Then you'll find her in the East Kingdom. She's got a castle built into the side of the Wastelands of Yami, a place shrouded in darkness. It's pretty hard to miss if you know where to look," the second fisherman said, his eyes still glued to Magus's generous cleavage.

He then coughed as he said-

"I don't want to get in trouble with my ball and chain."

The first fisherman looked at his companion with a knowing smile.

"Thanks for talking with us, lady.," the man replied.

Magus gave them a look as they walked away-

On closer examination, the first was a tall, muscular man with black hair that was buzz-cut on the sides and topless with dark pants. And the other was a middle-aged man with short black hair. He wears an eyepatch over his right eye. He wears a black shirt with dark pants.

Rikiya and Ganta- Commanders of Hinowa's Army.

Magus then whispered to her colleagues-

"I think they know about us for some reason."

Magus' words sent a shiver down the spines of the Royal Guard of Pure as they continued their ruse, trying to blend in with the human patrons of the inn. The fishermen's casual mention of assassins had not gone unnoticed.

Suddenly, a demonic bear humanoid burst into the establishment- an Onikuma.

"Lady Amanozako's enemies...they must be here.," the bear humanoid spoke with a harsh and bestial voice.

The patrons of the inn froze in terror as the creature's presence filled the room. The Royal Guard of Pure tensed, their eyes narrowing as they assessed the situation.

"Don't cause a scene," Pure murmured under her breath, placing a hand on Magus's shoulder to calm her.

The Onikuma scanned the room, his beady eyes searching for any sign of the interlopers. The tension grew palpable as the creature's gaze lingered on Pure for a moment, but she held his gaze, her own eyes unwavering. He snorted and turned away, clearly not recognizing her in her disguise.

The group breathed a collective sigh of relief, and Pure took the opportunity to approach the bar. The bartender, a burly human with a thick beard, eyed her suspiciously.

"A round for me and my friends, please," she said with a smile, trying to keep her true nature hidden.

"But, Kiyo (Pure's alternate name), you're underaged!," Griff argued.

Pure blushed as she replied-

"Oh, you're right. Just sodas."

The bartender looked at her with confusion.

"What's soda?," he asked.

Gear then pulled him to the side and explained how to make it.

"Alright, first off, we start with cold water. You toss the herbs in before it gets hot, right? It's like letting them get to know each other gently before the heat hits," Gear said, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

"What's with all the chit-chat about making root beer? Are we opening a cafe now?," Magnete grunted, his sunken eyes looking at her.

Pure laughed nervously.

"We're just sharing a recipe we heard. It's quite popular where we're from," she said, trying to ease the tension.

The bartender followed her instructions and made the root beer. The patrons looked anxiously before the bartender took a sip. Anticipation grew as their eyes looked at his reaction. He gave a thumbs-up as he patted the girl on the back.

"You should do this for a living.," he spoke.

Gear grinned in response.

"You Hu-," she said before Croco covered her mouth.

"You're from Huyun? Your dialect gives you away.," the dark-haired girl replied.

"Y-yeah. Thanks.," the bartender said.

Griff got up from his seat as he apologized-

"I'm sorry, but we need to go."

His voice was urgent, his eyes darting around the room. The sudden realization of their disguises slipping had sent a jolt of panic through her, and she knew they couldn't afford to stay any longer. The Royal Guard of Pure quickly gathered their things, their appetites forgotten as they hastily made their way out of the inn. The chilly night air hit them like a slap in the face, a stark contrast to the warm, stuffy atmosphere inside.

"I must be drunk.," the bartender said to rationalize the glimpse of oddness he saw but was impressed by the drink enough to incorporate for the young'uns.

As the group left, Wally questioned about the humans-

"Humans bad right?"

"Only if they stand in our way," Griff replied with a serious tone, her eyes glancing at the terrified faces of the townsfolk as they walked down the dusty roads. They had to be careful not to give themselves away. Unlike her siblings, Pure wasn't one to cause destruction just to get results and this attitude transferred to her guard.

"But, they say Humans hunt Danger Beasts, what we're related to and where some of us come from- they kill them because they want their territory and expand to cause pollution and extinction to our kind.," Wally replied.

"It's a cycle of survival, Wally. We evolve, and they adapt. It's not about good or evil, just life," Croco said as she placed a comforting hand on Wally's shoulder.

"But the Teigu, Shingu, Meihou- it's like those humans are fighting with the corpses of our kind and showing them for all eyes to see. Making a mockery of our kind.," Dinoceros remarked.

"A cycle of survival it is, Croco, but it's also a cycle of exploitation. They fear us, yet they seek to harness our power. It's no wonder the Great Ones had to unite," Pure said with a hint of sadness in her voice.

"But do you agree with all of what they say?," asked Shuten.

"Stop it, Shuten. That's treason for you to say such things.," Templar noted.

Shuten rolled her eyes.

"Say, what kind of fantasy bullcrap are you talking about?," asked Ganta.

To their horror, the two men from the bar had been trailing them.

"During our fights with the Ten Stars, Akame came across a bastard named Amanojaku. He had a habit of skinning girls alive. Would've thought he was human since some sickos are into that, but he didn't look human. Apparently, he was the son of some bigshot named Amanozako. I thought it was some ally of Zuou, but it turned the last king of Tenrou was a puppet of hers and this hot-head named Ignis.," the eye-patch man explained.

"I think you're mistaking us for someone else.," Tyto replied.

"Oh, no. You've got the same feel as him.," said Rikiya.

"The same feel as whom?," Gear asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Don't play dumb, you're some natural Frea-," said the larger man before Polyphemus proceeded to punch the way away out of disgust.

"We are beings meant to bring stability to the world. Not some deviation.," Polyphemus spoke.

The two human commanders, Rikiya and Ganta, were unphased by Polyphemus's display of power.

The two respectively pulled out their Meihou taken from the Ten Stars and their associates- a spear that was bent, extended, and moved around similarly to a snake and a spear capable of manipulating wind and creating whirlwinds called "Weasel Cuts", wind-like attacks sharp enough to easily cut through steel and cleave right through flesh and bone.

However, Pure didn't have time to indulge in any of that perceived nonsense as she summoned her Vanitas-

She summoned a golden figurine with wide hips and legs that taper to a point, stubby arms, bronze bra with a bronze bikini bottom, and an acorn-shaped helmet that covered its eyes.

"Vanitas: Inanna."

"Your Ladyship to use on such men is-" Griff argued.

Pure's eyes grew stern as she said-

"This is a divine task set upon me by my father. I wish not to partake in wanton slaughter if it can be avoided. Do you wield?"

Ganta looked at the strange group before him, then at the golden figurine floating in the air. He had seen his fair share of oddities, but these beings had a sense of nobility that was hard to ignore.

"Well, this is definitely a step above the usual crazies we deal with," Ganta quipped, his one eye gleaming with curiosity.

"Indeed, she seems quite convinced of her own righteousness," Rikiya added, stroking his chin thoughtfully. His extensive research on Evil Beings during the time of their queen's disappearance had taught him that Pure's self-assurance in her cause was not a trait typically found in their kind, which were openly bloodthirsty or manipulative monsters.

"Sorry, but your disguises aren't fooling anyone. We know who you are," Rikiya said, his spear at the ready. "Hinowa and Rinzu want peace, but your kind... you want humans to bow before you, don't you?"

Pure's expression grew solemn as she replied, "It's not about ruling over humans. It's about protecting this planet. Five thousand years ago, humans almost destroyed it with their greed and wars. Now, you're building contraptions that harm the very essence of life. If I don't intervene, it'll happen again."

Her Royal Guard watched intently, waiting for the humans' response. The wind picked up, rustling their clothing as the tension grew.

"Living primitively is not an option for us. Humans need to progress, to evolve. How can you expect us to regress?" Ganta said, his hand tightening around the shaft of his wind-manipulating spear.

Pure looked at the humans with a gentle gaze.

"Humans have been given too much freedom to destroy this world. Five thousand years ago, you brought it to the brink of collapse with your endless conflicts and hunger for power. The Great Ones had to intervene.," she said with a sadness in her eyes that seemed to hold the weight of ancient knowledge.

"Found you! Brat!," the Onikuma's voice spoke as Croco turned around to see the ursine Evil being from before.

"The Bear's back.," Rikiya noted.

"This kind of talk is why your whore mother, Eve, and you are weak. My Queen wants things simple- rule with tyranny without any delusions like you.," the Onikuma said.

"I see humans. Need to deal with them too. I'll say that they killed you and I killed them in self-defense.," the bear added as he smiled fiendishly as his face warped. His intent was clear as Griff readied himself.

The bear's voice was a grating growl that seemed to echo through the very air around them. The Royal Guard of Pure knew that this encounter was inevitable. They had come too far to be stopped by a mere minion of Amanozako."Oi, Don't ignore us!," Rikiya yelled as he lunged his spear Meihou, but he was punched to bloodied bits by the bear Evil Being.

Sorry, Hinowa Cap..., the large man thought as he perished.

The Onikuma turned to Ganta, his eyes burning with malice.

"What do we do?," asked Magnete as he looked at Pure, who was taken back at the reappearance of the Onikuma.

Suddenly, the Onikuma was stabbed from behind by a red-skinned, long-nosed humanoid wearing priest attire. His long white beard hinted at his advanced age.

Daitengu- Avian Lord under the Command of the East Great One.

He turned his attention to Pure's group, but Dinoceros activates his Trump Card to generate a shadow to warp his group away.

Ganta looks at the colossal winged figure.

"What are you?," the man asked.

"The End of Days is upon us. Nothing can halt it now.," the bird-man said as he flew away, leaving Ganta to mourn the loss of his comrade and the fallen body of the Onikuma.

Yami

The group looked around as they found themselves in the Wastelands of Yami.

"Where are we?," asked Tyto.

The Wastelands of Yami were desolate, a stark contrast to the lush lands they had just left behind. The ground was a mix of black sand and jagged rocks, stretching out into the horizon, with a castle looming in the distance, shrouded in a thick veil of darkness.

"Who was that long nose?," asked Shuten.

"We have 14 leaders- technically 28, but it should be 14 for the 14 kingdoms of Evil Beings. They have 14 leaders for the Good Beings. He was one of them.," explained Polyphemus.

"Good? They're as bad as we are," Magnete said with a scoff.

"I judged the Humans via Inanna, but they didn't explode. They should've in an instant. What does that mean? That Humans can be good?," asked Pure.

"Or that the ones that aren't are very good at hiding it," Croco said with a sneer.

The castle grew larger as they approached. Its shadowy presence was intimidating, a stark reminder of the power that Amanozako wielded. The group remained silent, their thoughts racing with questions and fears. As they drew closer, they could make out the outline of the castle, a twisted and gothic Japanese structure that seemed to absorb the very light around it.

"Looks like we're in for a fun night," Croco said with a forced smile, her nails digging into the palms of her hands.

They reached the gates and saw yellow orbs- eyes peeking out of the gaps.

"Guess we're not going to be able to negotiate our way in.," remarked Croco.

Pure frowned at the prospect of fighting.

Polarctica

At the same time, Monstrosity and the Royal Guard arrived at the edge of the land in constant winter, joined with the other lands via his father's powers.

A tall humanoid with bulky musculature and a manly frame, round ears, clawed dinosaur feet with a long leonine tail, and a round, featureless mask of yellow coloring covering the top portion of the face, but stopped at the top half of the fanged mouth. His skin was dark indigo and possessed a mane of blue hair that went down his back. He wore a black bio-mechanical sleeveless tank top with baggy pants.

Monstrosity- Heir to the Black U.L.F. Evil Beings/Royal Guard of Malice.

"I'm sensing Lady Pure. She's fumbling over what should be a straightforward affair. Being compassionate to the specks is a weakness.," the indigo-skinned being remarked.

He then looked at his boss currently obscured in shadow.

"Words will not resolve things. Only Power can.," the figure spoke.

Next Chapter: Malice- the 2nd Child of Nefarious is sent to ally with the Northern Great One, but encounters Good Beings along the way, leading to conflict. At the same time, Pure has to infiltrate the palace of the false East Great One.

Author Notes: I wrote Pure to be very different from her previously introduced and about to be introduced siblings, being someone who tries to avoid fighting and is generally a good person on the wrong side. Her guards were characters I came up with on the fly to give her people to bounce off of, being the kind of people that probably would've gotten along with Night Raid if they didn't happen to work for the literal Devil.

The theming for Eastern Beings is Yokai.

I included two of Hinowa's commanders to add continuity.
