Deeks cracked an eye open only for his vision to be filled with familiar dark brown curls. They closed again of their own accord. One deep breath later, he had managed to forcibly open them.
Sunlight streamed through a chink in the curtains, illuminating the features of his partner's face. It was breath-taking. He didn't know whether he was thinking of the sunlight or his partner.
Speaking of his partner, she was currently restricting the blood flow to his hands the way she was draped across him. He flexed them slightly to see how much movement he actually had. All he managed was to get a prickly feeling in them as the blood somewhat rushed back to them.
He tried to pull his arms out from under her. Slowly moving his arms so, hopefully, she wouldn't pick up on any movement.
"Stop moving," Kensi complained, not even raising her head up.
He startled slightly; he didn't know she had been awake.
How did she even do that?
"I need to stretch my arms," Deeks told her.
She grumbled something back at him but shifted slightly so he could properly stretch both arms.
"That's better," he said with a satisfied sigh as circulation was restored to his arms.
"Are you done?" she asked irritably, glaring at him through squinted eyes.
Obviously, she didn't want to be awake just yet. Well, neither did he particularly.
"Yes?" Deeks answered, confused.
He wasn't exactly in the way of her getting back to sleep.
Her whole demeanour changed at his reply from stiff and tired to sleepy and happy.
"Good!" she said happily and promptly rolled over so her head was back on his chest along with most of her upper body.
Not that he didn't enjoy having Kensi this close to him, especially when she was feeling on snuggling but-
"Kens?" he hesitantly asked
"Hmm?"
"What are you doing?"
"You're my new pillow," Kensi happily declared in a sleepy tone from her prone position over him, burying herself deeper into him.
Deeks just blinked down at her, not really sure how to respond to that.
"You are aware that we have like four pillows that are oh so graciously provided by the hotel between us," Deeks pointed out with a raised eyebrow.
"Hmm," came from his chest.
He poked his partner in her side and she squirmed. He winced, that was a bad idea when she was draped all over him like that.
"Completely unnecessary for you to use me as one," he continued in a teasing tone.
"You're comfy," Kensi muttered half-intelligibly, burrowing her face further into his chest.
A warm feeling flooded him. It was rather nice to have his partner all curled up into him like this. He wondered if she would let him? Hesitantly, Deeks draped an arm of her. No complaints. Smiling to himself, he tightened his grip into a sort of a half-hug. He got a tiny satisfied noise from Kensi as a result. Closing his eyes, Deeks settled himself. Their alarms weren't going to go off for another half hour, he may as well relax.
'Bang bang'
Or not.
"Kensi, Deeks! You awake?" came Sam's voice from the other side of the door.
The two of them groaned. Kensi blearily open her eyes to check her phone. It was five am.
"S'too early. Make him go away," Kensi whined, scrunching her eyes closed.
She also tried to pull the covers up over her head but Deeks stopped her.
"We do need to be there at seven," Deeks pointed out and, upon hearing her stomach growl, added, "And get you fed before that."
She irritably muttered something back at him but shifted off him and started to stretch.
'BANG BANG'
"Kensi! Deeks!"
"Yeah, we're awake," Deeks called back, slightly grumpy that there was no warm Kensi snuggled into him anymore.
"I think you woke them up, Sam," Callen informed his partner.
Deeks stumbled over to the door and let the two of them in.
"Some of us like to sleep our normal eight hours," Deeks told them as they walked past. "It's good for your health."
"Should have gone to bed earlier," Sam dismissed.
"I don't think Callen knows what eight hours of sleep is," said Kensi, now fully stretched and sitting up.
Callen very maturely stuck his tongue out at her.
"Not that we don't love you guys or anything but what the hell?" Deeks asked, following the two older agents to the foot of the bed.
"Did something come up?" Kensi asked, reaching for her go bag.
Deeks knew for a fact that she didn't bother putting her clothes in the closet provided. She never did. She claimed it was because it was easier and far more efficient if they had to get out of a place quickly. Which made sense for surveillance and tailing people, but for official meetings? Nah, she was just lazy. It wasn't like he was asking her to hang them up or anything, he just folded everything neatly and stacked it (also easy for shoving quickly into bags, if necessary, by the way).
"No, I was going to go for a run and was wondering if anyone wants to come with," answered Sam then jabbed a thumb at Callen, "He was already awake. Or still awake."
"And bored," Callen added helpfully.
"Because I wouldn't let him dismantle the aircon," Sam explained.
"I'm game," Kensi told him, heading to the bathroom to get changed.
Sam nodded at her and turned to Deeks, "About you?"
Deeks gave him a wide-eyed look and shook his head.
"No thanks, I've heard horror stories from Callen," Deeks replied quickly. "I like my lungs."
Callen nodded in agreement beside him.
"No need for it."
Sam just gave them a disgusted look and an eye roll as Kensi came back into the room with leggings and her sports bra.
"What's up?"
"Our partners don't know the benefits of a good run," he said.
"Hey, I run," argued Deeks, folding his arms. "Just not the crazy twelve miles you two like to do. Which is crazy! Callen, back me up on this."
Deeks turned to try and get Callen on his side only to see their team lead frowning at the bed.
"You two only had one bed?"
