Chapter 10
Patty laughed on the phone with this Angela person. Her best friend and the mother of Cadence.
"Let's get serious, though. Have you thanked Tony for protecting Sam and Cadence from Victor? Victor deserves everything he gets. I'm partially to blame. Victor was always fighting with me. When he threatened to take Cadence into custody at 6, from you and Michael, I offered to take her for you and raise her. Until he calmed down – until we divorced – and now – Angela I promised to call you each day since. You won't be safe until..."
"I know, Patty. Trust me, I do. It's not your fault. Michael and I are divorced now, and I've raised Johnathan myself. Tony is here and he has always cared about Johnathan and especially Cadence. I trust that you've cared for her. Victor gave Cadence and Sam something to not know us. I wouldn't put it past him, but maybe it could be shock. I thank Tony every day. I hope that this gets resolved."
Prue and Piper came home first.
"Hey, Ang. I have to go but say hello to Tony and Mona and Johnathan. I'll definitely call tomorrow."
"Hey, Mom. You won't believe it. Some guy was roaming the streets today. He looked like that convict. But then we found this stray cat. Can we keep it?"
"Sure, honey. But back to the convict. Where did you see him?"
"By the docks where we used to camp. But we kept our distance. He disappeared before we could figure out his motives. Hey, have you any idea where Cadence is?"
"She went upstairs to study with her friends for a big test coming up."
"Oh, great. Well, work today was swamped. Can we go get pizza or something?" Piper asked.
"Sure. I'll order it." Patty offers.
"See you later, Cae!"
"Yeah, see you. Sure, you don't want to stay for dinner?"
"Nah, but maybe tomorrow night."
"Remember it's basketball practice. See you at school?"
"Yeah, for sure!"
Cadence watches her friends leave. "Hey, Mom. I'm going to lay down until dinner. Studying wears me out."
"Sure, honey. I'll call the pizza place."
Cadence heads to her room to lay down. She falls asleep, but little does she know her astral projection goes to explore.
Cadence appears at an apartment complex. It's super quiet. She silently walks up the apartment stairs.
Where was she?
"Maybe this will jog your memory."
A woman's voice. So familiar, why?
"No, I didn't mean it. You don't have to do this. I'm sorry. Pandora, please."
What, no! This was my vision.
"Now, you will pay. The seer will be so pleased. It's revenge for all of us."
Cadence walked down the hallway to the closed door.
"Pandora, I don't know what you mean."
"You will." The voice changed. Now it was that man. The convict.
"You're not my daughter." He started up a spell.
"Sorry. You can't do that, Victor. I won't let you. Too bad your daughter's face is what you'll see on your death bed."
"Pandora, I'm sorry! Don't, please. Save me!"
Cadence ran in, but the convict was just finished. "Hey, witch. Too bad the cops were called, and you'll be put on trial."
"I don't know what you're talking about. If anyone, you should go to jail."
"Not if they see you." He continued. "With blood on your hands."
"What? That's my father!"
"Yeah, and not the greatest father at that. Well, got to run. See you on the flip side." He jokes and disappears.
"Dad..." Wow, she said Dad not Victor.
"Look at me, Dad... What happened?" Cadence kneels down. She sees the knife in his chest. The blood on the floor. She grabs a towel and presses it to his chest. He wasn't the best Dad, but now she was being called out. This was no good.
