Preemptive Notice: I'm gonna take a bit of time away after posting this to address potential grammar issues. Despite being raised in the US, writing in a proper form factor has always proven itself to be troublesome to me. And while I don't know if there's anyone who would be willing to become a beta-reader for Dragon Ball Evolution: My Hero Academia Version, but if you want to be a beta-reader, feel free to hit me up via PMs. A part of writing this fanfic is just because it's fun, but at the same time, if it's written like it's barely legible to begin with, it kinda loses all purpose.
-Part Tres: The Top 16: Honorable Duels and Subzero Temperatures-
Before the scheduled Top 16 fights, Denki and Minoru were planning something extra devious. They approached Momo and Kyoka, who were hanging out in the cafeteria.
"Y'know, I think Aizawa-sensei said something about having you girls do some cheerleading on the side!" Minoru lied through his teeth. Momo was confused.
"Hmm? Are you sure about that, Mineta? I don't remember him ever saying that." She responded.
"Nah, he definitely said something about being in some cheerleading garb," Denki added on.
"Well, if you're saying it as well, I suppose we can-" she was going in, but then Goku interjected, just as confused as Momo was.
"No, I don't think Aizawa-sensei ever said anything about that! He just said give it our all and smiling for the cameras!" Goku spoke bluntly, Minoru and Denki were vigorously shaking their heads in denial. Momo looked rather hurt at the two, but Kyoko glaring them with a death glare.
"Are you shitting me?! You lied to our faces just so you can have us in some skimpy cheerleading outfits?! Do you seriously have no dignity, you perverts?!" The punk girl was outright furious at these schemers, her earjacks waving intimidatingly at the two, causing them to scram. She looks at Goku and sighs, her jacks going back to normal. He made some sense in this entire thing by being as simple as he usually is.
"I figured there was something fishy going on. Thanks for having my back, Goku. The gall of those two... seriously!"
"I feel a bit ashamed for almost falling for their scheme, Kyoka," Momo looks a bit sad, though her friend patted her on the back.
"Hey, no harm, no foul against you, Momo. To be completely honest, I was almost convinced, too. I guess if it were those two, a third alibi would be required before we'd believe what they're saying," she snarked. "Though, how can we punish them...?"
"I dunno, maybe have them be the cheerleaders?" Goku suggested. Momo's sadness broke as she looked at him with a light bulb going off in her head. Kyoko loved the words that came out of his mouth.
"Son, that would be amazing if you can get them to wear those tacky cheerleading outfits," Momo said, her friend nodding in agreement. "Typical cheerleading outfits utilize a combination of cotton, polyesters, and spandex. Though it'll take some time, they aren't difficult to make. I'll just need a visual idea on what they are and I can get started."
Kyoka's eyes drifted to the ground, as something colorful caught her eye, specifically orange and turquoise.
"Hmph, figured they had something drawn out... God, Mineta's such a perverted brat," she mused as she looked at the drawing. While there are six figures, there were erased marks that indicated that they wanted more girls in this group.
"That'll work. Just give me a couple of minutes to get the two's form and fit down, and Son can deliver it right to them. A reason to have them wear these things is easy enough."
And soon, Momo had created the outfits, fitting both Minoru and Denki, including some pom-poms.
With the tail in between their legs, the two were accosted by Goku, holding the two cheerleading outfits. In addition to the rather low-cutting attires, Momo made some black spandex underwear and socks.
"I know how you can get the girls to wear them. You should wear these yourselves!" He spoke, holding the outfits out. They were dead fits for the two perverts. The grape-haired shorty was naturally suspicious.
"I dunno... You did ruin our little surprise, Son..." Minoru said, a bit of a spoilsport.
"What if Goku isn't joking with us? What if that'd actually get them to wear it? They wouldn't be as opposed to it if we wore it!" Denki got it. Goku nods, and while his short partner was still suspicious, he grabbed his cheerleading outfit.
"Alright, I'm trusting you here!" the small grape teen warned.
"Don't worry, it'll be great!" the Saiyan said, as he took his leave. Soon, he met up with the two girls near the cafeteria exit.
"Did they take the bait?" Momo asked. Goku simply grinned.
"Hook, line, and sinker," he replied, Kyoko started to smirk.
"You're actually pretty awesome, Goku. I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when it's just the two of them. I should let Aizawa-sensei know beforehand, so he won't punish you for it."
"Now that everyone's got their concessions and that our Students are well-fed and rested up, it'll take a bit longer, but our Stage is almost set! To entertain you, we present the cheerleade- WHAT IN TARTARUS' SWEAT PITS IS THAT?!" Present Mic spat out, while Aizawa's eyes are wide open. In front of them, two cheerleaders.
Minoru Mineta and Denki Kaminari.
Their spandex shorts only go just past the thigh, and their undershirts are still too short to cover their midriffs. Of course, the rest of the attire was exactly as Minoru wanted: Skirt barely covering the upper legs, the overshirt cut dangerously high up with the intent of easy underboobs, and shin-high socks with their shoes. Present Mic howls in laughter, as much of the Pros started to mutter in the stands, wondering what the Hell was going on down there, not without the odd chortle here and there. In the student stands, much of the students were laughing.
Katsuki was enjoying the prank, that disgusting grape deserved it. Izuku felt a bit bad, though with how much of a pervert he knew Minoru was, he couldn't really defend his actions. The girls from both 1A and 1B were laughing especially hard since they were targeted for the prank, though Kyoko's was easily the loudest, almost matching the manic cackles of Mic's laughter, her throat threatening to go hoarse with how intensely she was laughing. The exception was Asui, though like Izuku, she couldn't defend him because he planned to do this to her. She'll chalk it up to karma.
"While I don't usually approve of these kinds of childish pranks, considering that those two in particular had been plotting something similar to the girls of the Hero Course classes thanks to a certain Kyoko Jirou telling me, I'll allow this logical ruse go to its conclusion," Aizawa said, smirking as he doesn't really enjoy Minoru all that much, either. He was second-to-last in his Orientation and, truthfully, had Izuku actually gotten a higher placement, he'd let him go.
"Dang it, I knew Son lied to us!" Minoru said, looking like a cute, furious grape. Denki, in the meanwhile, was sitting with a rain cloud over his head.
"I-I can't believe he did this to us, man...!" his friend said. The grape, however, wasn't perturbed by this Uno Reversal Card of a prank. He actually slapped the Electric student with his pom-pom, pumped up.
"We might have been tricked, but we'll bounce back and do a two-man cheerleading performance so awesome those girls will have to love us!" Minoru's words of wisdom went into Denki's head, he stood up and nods in agreement.
And then, they begin their impromptu cheerleading session. At first, nothing major happened. However, the two started to chant. UA. 1A. 1B, 1C, and as it continued on and on, the fires of cheering started to make their way up the stands! The two used their Quirks to set up some outrageous cheerleading routines, working in perfect sync! The invigoration eventually reached the Student Bleachers, and to their shock, they found themselves going along with the cheers! It eventually ended with a chant of "GO BEYOND, PLUS ULTRA!" and a thunderous roar erupted.
"Well... Did you expect that, Eraser? BECAUSE I SURE DIDN'T! MINETA AND KAMINARI PUT UP AN ELECTRIC PERFORMANCE THAT'S SURE TO STICK TO THE HISTORY BOOKS!" Mic belted out.
"I'll give them this, Mic. They have guts and spirit, that's for sure," Aizawa concluded. "But it does put them on thin ice for a month. And that's the most leeway I'll give them."
"Speaking of leeway, I got confirmation that Midnight and Cementoss had finished up the arena for our FIRST YEAR TOURNEY! SINGLE ELIMINATION, BABY!~" The crowd had finally yelled in excitement. It can now begin, as the sixteen went up on-stage.
However, before Midnight drew the names for pairs...
"Midnight, if it won't of any bother, I'd like to withdraw myself from the tournament." Mashirao announced. The crowd gasped, as Midnight was taken aback.
"What?! No, you should stay in the tournament!" Mina protested.
"Yeah, I bet you're really good in the ring!" Goku added on. His martial arts friend, dejectedly smiling, shook his head gently.
"I'm sorry, guys, but I barely remembered anything between talking with a teammate and now. I hadn't earned my position here. If I enter the tournament as-is, it would be an inflicted wound on my pride. Besides, there's always next year," Mashirao bowed.
"D-damn... Such a manly way to resign..." Eijiro teared up.
"Actually, I should also resign my position, ma'am," Shoda piped up, going up front. "It's nice and all that I'm up here, but like Mashirao here, I don't remember a thing I did during the Cavalry Battle. It just doesn't feel right being on the stage along those who had earned their spots."
"I can't bear looking at this manliness anymore!" The red-haired kid started to bawl a bit.
"I must admit, this is a bit unprecedented... However, the dedication of you two warms the cockles of my heart!" Midnight chimed. "You two are now out! Though we still need two more... Itsuka Kendo? Is your group still around?"
"Yes, ma'am! However, we as a group decided to give our spots to Tetsutetsu's team!" Itsuka declared. "They technically held their headband until the very end, so they deserve it the most."
"We'll get our chances eventually, and they definitely earned theirs!" Setsuna added on with a wide grin.
"They are the true fun guys!" A girl with a mushroom cap-like haircut, Kinoko Komori, spoke out.
"I quiver in anticipation to see how our friends do, as well..." A spooky ghost-like girl, Reiko Yanagi, said as she dangles her hands.
"Tetsutetsu, Ibara, good luck out there! We'll earn our spots next year, this is your time to shine!" Juzo Honenuki and Yosetsu Awaze spoke together, the two stepping back with a bow to the two, who in turn stepped up to the stage, if a bit forced.
"Excellent! With our 16 all gathered here, the Final Part of the First Years Sports Festival shall commence!" Midnight declares, a roaring wave of cheers signaling the beginning of the end.
Goku sits in the student bleachers, starts to watch the Tournament play out. He glances over at Mashirao, who is looking concerned.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Goku asked the tailed boy.
"Sorry, man, but I'm just concerned about Midoriya down there," Mashirao replied. "I don't know what it is about that Shinsou kid, but he has to have some kind of brainwashing Quirk. That was why I forfeited my slot for the 1B students."
"I have confidence that Midoriya can fight him... Though that explained why I felt empty early this morning," the Saiyan said, thinking out loud.
"On one side of the ring, we have the dark horse of the Sports Festival. Hailing from Class 1-C and beating out many of 1-A and 1-B, give it up for HITOSHIIIIII SHINSOU!" Mic yells, but still, only a few cheers went to the 1-C student, irritating him. "And on the other side, we have this ingenious boy, green as broccoli, but steeled in determination. Give it up to IZUKU MIDORIYAAAAAA!"
"Is it really necessary to do that kind of intro commentary, Mic?" Aizawa questioned.
"What? And not butter up the audience with this kind of entertainment? This is why I'm the people person!" Mic responded with a grin.
"If I wanted entertainment, I'd spend the day listening to Ms. Joke's puns, but I got stuck commentating with you," the Eraser Hero snarked back.
"Let's get this fight on the road!" Midnight declares, as the two students locked eyes.
"Hmph. You're no threat to me. You don't even have the potential Son Goku holds," Hitoshi spat, but Izuku kept quiet. "Hmph, playing the Silence game with me? You seriously think that freak with the giant tail is telling the truth?" This dug deeper, but just before he utters a word, the Hero aspirant stopped himself. This was the final move. "You are truly pathetic. And honestly, seeing how that ape is bound to you like a parasite, he's even more pathetic." And this got the response he needs, as his opponent charges at him, pissed off as he yells.
"DON'T YOU DARE BAD MOUTH GOKU, YOU SON OF A-" Before Izuku could even land a punch, he stops right in his tracks.
"Checkmate. I win." Hitoshi grinned. "Now, be a loyal puppet and ring yourself out. I got history to make."
"Nooo, that wasn't meant to happen!" Mashirao bemoaned, watching the green-haired teen walk closer to his end. "That snake...!" Goku, however, wasn't as quick to declare defeat. He just eyed his friend in anticipation.
"Say, it looks like our Gen Ed contestant has Midoriya underneath his thrall! Will this be it for him?!" Mic commentated.
"Crap! I... I can't move...!" Izuku thought, as he was ceaselessly marching towards his doom. "Not when everyone had put their faith in me. I... can't... lose like this...! Not after that jerk insulted Ojiro and Son...!" However, as he was continuing his march, a bunch of colored ghosts started to watch him. The weirdest one was the one he glances up at the Student Stands. It looks similar to Goku, but this visage looks much older, more well-fought.
"Come on, my son placed his trust into you and this is how you're gonna go out? If I had anything to say about that, it's 'Hell no'!" the visage spoke out. It looks like Goku, but his speech was gruff and militaristic. However, soon, he started to do something... unconsciously, as his middle finger cracked with red energy, and with a snap, Izuku was snapped back into reality, stopping just short of the ring's edge!
"See, Mashirao? I knew he'd get out of it somehow!" Goku cheered on. His partner looked at the green-haired kid, and then his middle finger. It was reddened, but he can still move it.
"Seems like it wasn't as set in stone was we had thought, ladies and gentlemen!" Mic cheered on.
"That General Education kid almost took out one of 1-A's students without even throwing a punch," Aizawa spoke out. "Definitely a flaw with the way we conduct our Entrance Exams."
On the field, the purple-haired kid looked flabbergasted, unable to even truly formulate his words.
"What the-?! How?!" Hitoshi screamed in disbelief. "Crap, he probably knows exactly how my Quirk works now. However, I just need to get him to gab and I can rectify that mistake," he thought. Izuku simply shot a glare at him. He doesn't need to say anything anymore and he started to rush. "Of course, you think you're blessed with such an amazing Quirk?! My Quirk couldn't get me through the Golden Gates, while people like you get to follow all the awesome dreams you have!"
Despite the rage keeping the green-haired boy focused on defeating his opponent, the words resonated within his psyche. That was exactly the same way he felt, before he met All Might that fateful day.
"Say something already, damn it!" The Gen Ed student threw a haymaker at his opponent's jaw as his frustrations hit fever pitch. And while it lands a direct hit, he barely even flinches, his head tilted just to lessen the pain. A quick, but effective gut punch and a judo throw stopped him from getting up as his heels landed out the ring.
"Ring out! Izuku Midoriya of 1-A moves onto the Quarter-Finals!" Midnight announced, her whip cracking as the fight ended.
And that crack snapped Izuku out of his rage, as he then looks at his defeated opponent, breathing to get his body back to breathing normally after having the wind knocked out of him. After getting up, the two students eyed each other again.
"Hey, Shinsou... Why did you want to be a Hero again?" Izuku asked, while Shinso looked dejected around the place, having no power to even reply to the question as he is prepared to live the rest of his life as that back-talking snake that couldn't even beat a Hero Student. However, instead of rejection and scorn, there was admiration for his performance, to his complete and utter shock.
"Good job out there, Shinsou!" "Good on you for giving us Gen Ed classmates a spotlight!" "What an amazing Quirk... I wish I had that to deal with Villains." "What the Hell is UA thinking for just having him as Gen Ed?!" "What a shame for the differences in combat experience..."
"Hmph. Perhaps I have failed today. However, I refuse to give up. I will grow and become my own Hero, one greater than you all," Hitoshi remarks.
"You will, Shi-" Izuku froze up again. However, instead of scorn, his purple-haired opponent grinned.
"My sincere apologies, Midoriya. People tend to stiffen up when they respond to me. As you are, it'd be easy to mess everything up for you. However, just promise me you won't go out in an embarrassing manner," he says as he exits. "Release."
Izuku follows soon after, taking a detour to the temporary nurse's office. During the green-haired kid's absence, Round 2 began, with Hanta fighting against Shoto. Despite the power difference, the Tape teen was able to give his opponent trouble. After the gigantic glacier formed when his opponent had been pushed over the edge, Goku was starting to feel giddy at the potential to fight him. However, then he sees Izuku looking at the pair with sorrow. Not only for Hanta's embarrassing loss, but the emptiness and bitterness that Shoto had seen, and the whooping had died off as the Saiyan started to see, even feel that sorrow from his energy. Round 3 went quick, with Denki's electricity being instantly nullified by Ibara's vicious vines. With Goku excusing himself to prepare his stretches, Round 4 took an absurdly long time, and he saw an embarrassed Tenya looking not entirely pleased. Soon, seeing Mina pass by, Round 5 came and went, with the cheers indicating that she had won. And with what footage was being broadcast, she did it by destroying Yuga's belt and nailing an uppercut right into him.
"Son! Yaoyorozu! Round 6 will be commencing soon!" was all that the excited Saiyan needed to hear. And soon, they meet face-to-face, both of them looking determined as they face each other in the ring.
"On one side of the ring, it's the Monkey King, the kid with the power to go Plus Ultra. Give it up for the aspiring SOOOON GOKUUUU!" Mic introduced. "On the other side of the ring, the brilliantly beautiful woman, Creator of all, but most importantly, creator of her own destiny...! She's one of 1A's Recommended, the cream of the crop, she's MOMO YAOYOROZUUUUUUU!"
"Alright, finally a chance to get to see you fight, Yaoyorozu!" Goku said, before he assumes his fighting stance.
"You are clever, Son Goku, but do not believe you've won just yet!" Momo says, assuming her fighting stance. Goku feels the energy from her, and he's getting excited! However, there was something off, as he noticed the slim bands on her wrists and ankles.
"Are you two ready?" Midnight asks the two fighters. They nod. "Begin!"
The two approach each other, gingerly, but deliberately. Then, as suddenly as it started, the two yelled as they sprinted and started to throw hands. These strikes were happening at such a rapid pace, not even the Pros in the stands couldn't see them!
It was as if they both were multi-armed, but the occasional block reminded them that, no, they aren't multi-armed. What little expressions they could see, it looks as if the two were enjoying their fight, but they were grimacing as they gave it their all to block each other's blows, leaping over the odd low kick, their eyes locked to each other exclusively, analyzing their forms and stances, trying to find a weakness they can exploit. There was a break in the fight when a shockwave from their punch sends the both of them skidding a couple meters from each other, but that barely stops them as they get back into the fight. Goku's impressed, as he did see that Momo had indeed been able to keep up with his fighting style, even more so when he a jab in his side before an open palm strike landed its mark on his chest, skidding as he sees her making a metal bo to wield against him. The Saiyan gives her a smile, realizing that she's doing bojutsu moves!
In the commentator's stand, neither announcer had anything to say. They were just watching in awe, Aizawa especially. During his Quirk Test, he saw Yaoyorozu preferred to create things that'd allow her to keep up with her more physically powerful classmates. Since it produced good results, it was obvious she stayed in. However, from that, he hypothesized that her fighting style would utilize her Quirk to redirect and punish by debilitating strikes. Instead, she's fighting one of the strongest students with her bare hands, only seeing a bit of her Quirk activate to supplement her form.
"Impressive Shitō-ryū techniques! But I wasn't done warming up yet!" Goku said, getting back into the fight, with a powerful dash sending him to her position faster than she could read.
He now goes on the offensive, startling Momo slightly as she tried to block the attacks and counterattack with the bo, but Goku's strikes were too fast for her to block them all while dodging her counters, and the odd strike barely slows her opponent. The Saiyan's blows were landing on Momo's body, causing her to be forced back, a final punch struck against the bo, shattering it at the mid-point as she skids near the out-of-bounds boundary. Momo looks at Goku, before smiling with confidence while panting lightly.
"You are indeed impressive. Even the punches you landed on me didn't feel any worse than mosquito bites, yet I've been forced back here! However, I'm not out yet!" As she said that, she finally slips her weighted bands off. "PERPARE YOURSELF, GOKU!" She yells, as her soul feels like it's starting to burn intensely.
Momo goes back on the offensive, as she's striking faster and stronger with the two bo halves as makeshift escrima sticks, incorporating more Shitō-ryū maneuvering, actually causing Goku a little bit of worry as he can't seem to find an opening in her whirlwind of an assault. Before he can even find a counterattack, Momo's finisher had commenced. With a flashbang popping from her right shoulder, Goku was instantly blinded by its explosion, after which he's put on the floor by a jab from the shortened bo to his liver, dazing him just enough that she can form her shield in seconds and unleash a powerful shield bash to his head, a yelp uttered and hitting the floor as the audience gasped! After the ecstasy of battle finally left, Momo held her hands over her mouth, shocked she just did that to him.
"What a devastating combo! Momo Yaoyorozu put Son Goku to the floor with a powerful shield bash, and it looks like he might be out!" Mic announced.
"While I would say it's a bit excessive, considering it's Son Goku, that might have been the only way he could be knocked out." Aizawa commented, a bit dry, but also surprised with what had happened.
Midnight, at the meanwhile, shook off the shock and looked at Momo, half impressed and half stern.
"Yaoyorozu, I hope you don't plan on doing that again! But... I cannot scold you for how well you handled yourself." She spoke, with a slight grin for the female combatant. "But I think you done it!"
"Yeah, that was incredible!" the chipper voice erupted from the ground.
The audience was looking at Goku, who started to slowly get up, with gasps and cheering emitting from them. Despite a little bit of blood from his mouth where the shield had made contact, he looked none the worse for wear! The students looked absolutely shocked that barely a noise came from their stand, either from Momo's combo or Goku just getting up like it hadn't even happened. Not even the referee or his opponent were expecting that, Momo especially couldn't believe her own eyes, which may as well be comically large and bulging out.
"I am genuinely impressed with your prowess, Momo! This battle's been so exciting!" He said with enthusiasm, no longer caring to just call her "Yaoyorozu" any more. Even with the bruises on his body and the blood shed, he's able to get back to his stance! His right fist starts to get coated in a white and blue aura, as he focuses his energy into it.
"I'm sad it has to end so early, but I gotta keep my strength up for the others! Here comes my final attack!" Goku announces, as he punches the air, the aura was sent towards her. It was aimed at her midriff.
Momo, only now snapping out of the shock, readied her shield, but it couldn't hold up as she felt it shatter like glass in her arm and the aura continued into a powerful blow as it dissipated on contact with her gut, causing her to cough as the force sent her flying through the air, gasping in surprise when she found herself hanging off the boundary!
"Ring out!" Goku runs over and gets Momo back up on the ring, as Midnight announces the end of their bout. The weirdest thing that happened to Momo, is that she flashed back just only two years ago. Back then, she was offering a hand to a defeated Goku. Now, it was Goku that was offering a hand to a defeated Momo. Time doesn't always repeat, but it always found a way to repeat itself.
"Son Goku will move onto the Round Two! What a stunning performance by these Hero aspirants!" The crowd cheered, however there were a handful that booed Goku. The audience as a whole, however, applauded both 1A students for giving it their all. "What do you have to say to that, Aizawa?!"
"I will admit, Mic, that was not what I had anticipated," Aizawa spoke. "While it had looked like the two were viciously fighting, they were matched up near-evenly. Though it was obvious Son Goku had held back initially, I couldn't have anticipated Yaoyorozu actually pushing him that far back. While that shield bash did look brutal and I would personally not recommend using that move as anything except a final resort, he got up as if it was a fly swat to his face."
"That was one powerful blow, Son Goku." Momo said. However, she looks up to the Saiyan with a smile as she was helped up. "I know that wasn't your full strength, but you still went at me with what you've got. Thank you for taking me seriously and I'm sorry I drew blood on you."
"Hey, it's fine! I've had so much fun fighting you and getting to see your prowess for myself! You were so awesome, and that's not to say of those amazing Shitō-ryū techniques you've done alongside your Quirk!" Goku said, chuckling. Momo chuckles alongside him, as they make their way off the ring towards Recovery Girl's office, arm in arm.
"What is this? Despite all the intense action these two exerted in the ring, and that especially brutal air punch that send Yaoyorozu out of the ring, not to mention that powerful shield bash that landed right on Goku's face, the two are walking, arm in arm! Is this mutual respect, or is it something deeper?" Present Mic was hamming up the situation, while Aizawa pinched his nose in annoyance at his partner's commentary.
Goku was confused as to why he's even saying such a thing, of course he respects Momo's prowess! However, she was a bit more embarrassed, because that announcement made it seem as if they were a couple! However, one part of her self wasn't exactly going to prove Mic wrong at this moment. There was something about her opponent that was... endearing, beyond simple respect.
On a small television, Denkiken saw the entire match in his personal dojo. He was grinning ear to ear.
"I was not wrong to have taught you, Yaoyorozu, and I saw you were able to integrate your Quirk into your Shitō-ryū. Though I must admit, I had forgotten just how much of a beast you were in a fight, Son Goku. You've both done well and I'm proud to call you two my finest pupils." He spoke softly, as he drank a shot of osake to celebrate.
Up in the stands, Minoru and Ashido cannot believe what they saw, the fight was brutal looking, yet they were able to walk off unassisted. Izuku was also shocked, not only with Goku's power control, but Momo's impressive prowess despite being up against him!
Round Seven, Hardness vs. Metal as it was dubbed by Mic, Goku didn't watch in its entirety, as he met up with Ochako and Izuku after Recovery Girl healed up his bruises.
"What a match Yaoyorozu and you were in, Son-san!" Izuku said in a complimentary manner, with Ochako nodding.
"Yeah, I think you must have brought out something in her if she was fighting well against you, Goku-kun!" The brown-haired girl jovially pointed out. He chuckles in response.
"I had felt something in her, but she seemed to have realized it, too! She's really good, and her Shitō-ryū is seriously polished!" he says, satisfied with his battle against her.
"Though some of the crowd crowd weren't happy, they thought you were toying with her," Izuku mentioned. Goku looks in confusion.
"I think you two were fighting in earnest, I could tell by the glint in Yaoyorozu's eye when she came back to the stands," Ochako cuts in. "And I have a feeling I'll need to do much the same with Bakugou."
"Perhaps he'll go easy on you, because you're a girl?" Tenya asks, but is met with a glare from Goku.
"You never go easy in a fight, even if your opponent's a girl. Especially if they respect your strength and give it their all like Momo had. At least, that's what my father and mother taught me," Goku said.
"Goku-kun's right. Besides, even if he was wrong, Bakugou's not the type to just go easy. He always gives it his best shot, and I will, too!" she says.
"Uraraka, Bakugou, your match is up next! Kirishima and Tetsutetsu fought to a draw!" Present Mic says on the intercom.
"I'll see you guys in the Finals!" Ochako says, as she goes up, with the three boys wishing her good luck in the fight!
Goku came back to the Students' seats as he watches the fight.
As he watches, he's shocked, but not entirely surprised to see how easily Katsuki is repelling Ochako. However, he is surprised to see her fight to the bitter end, despite the uphill battle! However, he's annoyed to hear the crowd, some of the students and especially the Pro Heroes, booing Katsuki for "going hard" on her.
"That's not acceptable, boy!" "You're nothing more than a bully for picking on a girl like that!" "You suck, Bakugou!" "Knock her out of the ring and stop toying with her like a cat with a small mouse!"
While the fight was going on, Ochako simply locked eyes to an ever irate Katsuki, as if she is saying "Ignore them, Bakugou". Midnight was rather annoyed with the booing, Aizawa was getting ticked off, and Mic rightly backed away.
"That's enough!" Aizawa yelled, his voice was furious, however he clears his throat. "You so-called 'Pros' are nothing short of disgusting. Had you not been so 'righteous', you would have noticed that Bakugou is taking Uraraka seriously, and that they are both fighting with what they have. You had years of experience, and yet you're lecturing him on going too hard?! That's how the world works, and you're blatantly ignoring all that in your sexist beliefs that she's 'fragile'. That behavior is nothing short of pathetic and it's entirely unacceptable in the here and now."
"You tell them, Aizawa-sensei!" Goku yelled. He felt the same disgust his teacher felt, as the latter simply groaned and sat back down.
"You aren't as fragile as those cowards think you are, Ochako," Katsuki said rather calmly, a rarity as he made her back off with another Explosion. "However, don't ever expect me to hold back!"
"I'll take that and you using my name as high honor coming from you, Bakugou," Ochako replied, also eyeballing down her opponent. "And I don't expect you to hold back. Always give it your best!"
Then, the Meteor Storm was ready, Uraraka stayed back, and then she put her plan into motion.
"WHAT A GAMBIT, FOLKS!" Mic belted out. "WILL SHE WIN IT ALL LIKE I'D LOVE TO SEE?!"
BOOM! A massive explosion destroyed the Meteor Storm, and despite the distraction, Ochako still was blasted back by an explosion, this time actually knocking her down. Barely able to stand up, she simply glared at Katsuki, who goes back into a wide-standing stance, arms reddened by the stress of his attack. However, when she tried to run, the brown-haired gravity girl finally fell, exhaustion and nausea having overcome her, with only a soft murmur for her father escaping her mouth as unconsciousness overtook her.
"Ochaku Uraraka is unable to battle! Bakugou is the winner!" Midnight declared. The crowd was silent, aside from a few cheers. They wanted to boo Katsuki again, but hell hath no fury like a tired teacher.
Katsuki, in a show of respect, simply waits for the stretcher to come in and get her, before he walked out. No showboating, no roars of victory, just silent appreciation for his surprisingly tough opponent.
"WHAT A HOT END FOR URARAKA VS BAKUGOU! They had fought valiantly, but only one can go ahead! Tetsutetsu! Kirishima! Please head up to the main stage for a tiebreaker round!" Present Mic announced.
Goku and Izuku, out of worry for their friend, rushed downstairs to see her, only to encounter Katsuki near the staircase up to the bleachers.
"Deku... Did you give Urara- wait, Round Face those plans to defeat me? It couldn't have been that monkey..." The blonde bomber growled.
"What do you mean? I mean, I offered her my advice, but she declined! What you saw is her own ingenuity at work!" Izuku replied back.
"Hmph, her plan didn't work. But I will give her this, she was actually pretty damn strong," Bakugou mused to himself, Goku nodding in agreement. "I had to go all out on her, or else she would have certainly eliminated me. It's all the better, since I get to go up against either of you two or that two-faced punk!" he says, before heading out.
The two boys head over to the waiting room, seeing Ochako sitting on the chair. She looks at the two, with a slight morose expression. Surprisingly, the worst she got was a cheek patch.
"Uraraka! Are you doing okay?" Izuku asked. She nods.
"I'm doing fine, Deku and Goku, really. I've still got my head on, and my goal remains steadfast. I won't lose again," Ochako chants to herself. Goku had a slightly disapproving look at that comment.
"Losing is all part of the learning experience, Uraraka," Goku said. "At least, that's what my father tells me. The best thing you can do is to not look at this as a failure, but as a learning experience, first and foremost."
"Midoriya, Todoroki, your quarterfinal match is up! Kirishima won his tiebreaker against Tetsutetsu!" Mic announced, Ochako snapped out of that silent spell as she looked at her green-haired best friend.
"Sorry, Deku-kun! I wasted too much of your time! I'll cheer you on in the finals!" Ochako said, as Izuku goes to his match.
"I better get ready to watch that match! You really were strong, Uraraka, let no one say otherwise!" Goku said.
"Stop it, Goku-kun! You're embarrassing me!" The brown-haired girl said in a semi-bratty tone, a small smile breaking out as she giggled. "I'll also cheer you on in the finals if you get that far!"
Goku nods and leaves, before she calls her father, her morose being broken by sadness and tears. Yet, the voice of her father wasn't one of shame, but pride, admiration for her resolve and desire, simply glad she's up and okay.
AN: A bit unrealistic to have Momo fight on par with Goku, though I had the Chi-chi v. Goku fight and a bit of Jackie Chun v. Tien Shinhan on the mind when I wrote it, just with more weapon violence. I'd imagine it's more that Goku's testing her out, seeing just how well she had trained. And for reasons, I'd love to joke that Mineta and Kaminari as cheerleaders had somehow channeled the Para Brothers and used the Para Para Boogie to get everyone to cheer along with them.
Also, I am tempted to rewrite the Mina-Goku fight, since it's unfair Momo gets to have an actual fight while Mina gets a fight that lasts for all of fifteen seconds. However, part of me wants to justify that Mina has little fighting experience, so she can justifiably be ringed out super fast. If you want either or, feel free to sent me a message or something to that effect! And my apologies for taking so long to come back, I felt a bit of burnout. While I can't promise I'll stick to a regular schedule, I'll try to work on the fanfic every week.
