Hole Lot of Fun

Malia adjusted the rear-side mirrors. I was keeping my promise to Malia with the help of Lydia and Kira. We were helping her learn to drive. It was night out and we were on a road with no traffic, the perfect place to practice.

Lydia was passenger while Kira and I were in the backseat. Kira finished fastening her seat belt before addressing Malia. "Okay. Hands on the wheel at 10 and 2."

I furrowed my brows as Malia did as she was instructed. "I thought it was 9 and 3 now." I voiced my concerns.

Lydia spoke up. "Luna's right. The recommended position is now 9 and 3. At 10 and 2 a deployed airbag could break your thumbs." Lydia finished like she was just stating obvious facts. This girl was an encyclopedia.

"That's why I was always taught to keep my thumbs on the surface of the steering wheel, not wrapped around it." I mentioned, Lydia's knowledge making me remember.

"Mine would heal." Malia explained.

"Save your strength." Lydia retorted. "And try not to destroy your beautiful new car. 9 and 3." Lydia grabbed Malia's hands and moved them to the correct position.

Malia's hands tightened around the steering wheel as she started the car up. What have I just gotten myself into? The car started to move as Kira encouraged. "All right. Just ease into it. Good, good, okay. There you go."

"Please shut up." Malia stated through gritted teeth. She was concentrating hard.

Kira obliged immediately. "No problem. Shutting up." She didn't last long though as Malia started driving on an angle. "Eh, other way. Other way."

I started to panic a little. "Malia we are about to fall off the road turn the wheel." I smiled through gritted teeth of fear.

Too late. We were off the road. Lydia was very calm about the whole situation. "We are now off the road, this is not the road."

We were now driving over bushes as Kira panicked. "Other way. Malia, please go the other way."

The car alarm started beeping, alerting that we were about to collide with something. "What is that? What is beeping?" Malia asked as if the noise was annoying her.

"The car is telling you not to run into the tree." Lydia stated but I could see her holding onto her seat tighter.

"Malia." I said worriedly as I braced myself. "We are about to crash into the tree so turn the wheel."

Lydia finally reached panic mode as she stuck her arm out. "Turn the wheel. Malia!"

Finally, Malia turned the wheel as we narrowly avoided the tree. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. "Let's stay on the road this time, okay?" I commented as I calmed myself down.

Malia was still turning the wheel as we started doing circles. "Okay, sure. Uh, this is called a U-turn." Kira explained as we were still driving in circles.

"A U-turn?" I rhetorically asked. "This is an O-turn." I joked.

"You guys said turn the wheel." Malia defended.

She finally straightened up but we were going very slowly. "Maybe you should press a little harder on the gas." Lydia spoke up.

It was an innocent request but we all screamed as the car went flying forwards. I was thrown against the backseat as Kira held onto the passenger seat in front of her to keep her balance. "Maybe hit the brakes a little." I called out.

Big mistake because now I was thrown face first into the back of the driver's seat as the car braked suddenly. "Okay, just turn up here." Lydia said in a strained breath as she held on tight.

Malia sped back up and flew around the corner. I could have sworn the wheels lifted a little. "No, no, no, slowly, slowly." Lydia tried to teach while trying not to panic. Malia took 'slowly' literally and came to a stop. "Go." Lydia said with her arms in front of her and her hair was a little messed up now.

The driving had become more bearable as Malia asked. "Anybody want to tell me where we're going?"

"The school. We can finish with parking practice in the lot." Lydia said.

"Lydia, we're actually heading downtown." Kira spoke up. I looked out the front. I was terrible with directions but even I knew we were going the wrong way.

Lydia was confused. "What?"

"Yeah, isn't the school behind us?" I questioned. "We would need to do a U-turn, lucky Malia knows how to do them now." I joked with a smile.

"No. Keep going." Lydia stated. "We're almost there." I think she was having a Banshee moment. But the thing with Banshees is they predict death.

We didn't drive much further until we pulled up in some sort of alley way. We all hopped out to see a transport van stopped with the back open. There was a person on the ground, raising their hand, covered in blood.

I ran forward. This person was still alive and severely injured. "Luna, wait." I heard Lydia call out but if we wait, they could die.

I reached their side and started applying first aid. "Call 911." I yelled out to the other girls.

It wasn't long before there were cop cars and an ambulance to take the two injured guards away. There was a dead lawyer though. Supposedly the van was transporting a boy named Donovan who had publicly threatened to kill Stilinski. Now he was nowhere to be seen.

Lydia, Kira, Malia and I were getting interviewed by Parrish. Lydia did most of the retelling while I glanced out the corner of my eye to see Scott and Stiles talking to Stilinski. I saw Scott was given a radio and ran off to find Donovan.

Our interview ended as Parrish held out the radio. "Scott, is that you?" Parrish questioned as Stiles and his father came over.

"Yeah, I found Donovan. He's completely freaked out. Keeps saying some name." Scott explained over the radio.

"What name?" Stilinski inquired.

"Theo." Stiles whispered next to me but no one else heard it. Seems he was still suspicious. I smiled slightly. Guess he didn't give up on his instinct.

"Tracy. He keeps saying Tracy." Scott answered.

Tracy? That sounds familiar. Wasn't she that girl Lydia and I found at the lockers who was completed out of it? "Tracy who?" Stilinski asked confused.

Lydia spoke up. "Stewart. Tracy Stewart." I guess it was that girl.

It was the next day and we were at school having a secret meeting by the buses. "Tracy wasn't just having trouble sleeping. It was a real disorder. It was night terrors." Lydia explained to the pack.

"Well, now she's the night terror." Stiles commented. "Especially since no one can find her."

Scott spoke up. "Okay, I know we're all tired and miserable…" He furrowed his brows before turning to Mason next to him. "…except for you."

Mason was looking at us all in amazement before Scott pulled him out of it. "Oh. I'm sorry." Mason apologised as he turned to Scott. "This is all just mind-blowing." He turned to Kira. "You're a kitsune. I don't even know what that is." He chuckled.

"I'm still learning." Kira told him.

"And you." He turned to face me. "You're a mermaid. You guys were thought to be extinct." He grinned excitedly.

I liked Mason. He made me laugh. "I'll give you an autograph later." I grinned back at him. His whole face lit up when I said that.

"Liam, we said you could tell him. Not invite him to the inner circle." Stiles stated flatly.

"Uh, I'm in the inner circle?" Mason asked with a hint of excitement.

Liam and Stiles turned to him and both simultaneously stated. "No."

I rolled my eyes at them. "Oh, give him some slack." I defended the boy.

"Guys, look, back to Tracy." Scott interrupted as he moved in front of Mason. "She's just one lone wolf. We can find her."

"One lone serial-killing wolf." Malia clarified.

"Uh, she only killed one person, you know." Stiles defended. "The other two were mauled." I don't know if he was helping her case or not. "All right, what do we do when we catch her?"

"I say we put her down." Malia voiced her idea.

Everyone shrugged their shoulders and gave small head nods. "Intense." Mason commented, breaking the silence.

I spoke up. "No way. We can't just kill her." I glanced at everyone. "Tell me you're joking."

"What else are we supposed to do?" Stiles asked.

"Well, for starters, talk to her. Find out what's going on." I replied wide eyes. I can't believe they want to just kill her. This isn't the pack I signed up for. "You know, ask questions first, shoot later. Not shoot and kill the girl, then ask questions to her dead body."

"Guys, let's just concentrate on catching her first." Scott intervened. "We'll figure out the rest later." He said that part directly to me. I frowned at the group before walking away, tears threatening to spill but I refused to let that happen. The meeting was obviously over and I needed to cool off. Luckily the next lesson was about to start.

I went and sat down for AP Biology. I was still conflicted about the meeting earlier. Lydia sat down next to me but she knew I didn't want to talk about it.

Mrs Finch started handing back the tests we did to see if we were suited for the class. I got a 93% which I was happy with. When she handed Scott's back she mentioned. "Nice to see where your priorities are, Scott." He had gotten an 86% from where I was sitting. "Since you have such a good grasp of the subject, how about you lead us in a review of last night's reading."

"Uh… sure." He said awkwardly. He was flipping to the page when I saw Liam poke his head around the door, grabbing Scott's attention. Liam pointed over his shoulder, obviously wanting Scott to step outside.

"Scott?" Mrs Finch asked when she saw Scott looking at the door.

"Sorry, just looking for the page." Scott continued flicking through the book but stopped when he saw Liam gesturing again.

"Scott?" Mrs Finch asked more impatiently.

"Yeah, one sec. Sorry." Scott replied before motioning to his ear, telling Liam to speak and he'll listen.

I focused my hearing, trying to see if I could catch what Liam was saying. Luckily, I could hear but the news wasn't good. "She's here. She's in History class right now. Tracy. She's here." Liam whispered.

Tracy was in class? This wasn't good. She was dangerous and could hurt someone. I gestured to catch Liam's attention which worked. I pointed for him to listen to me speak. "Set the fire alarm off. Everyone will have to evacuate the class." I whispered with my hand covering my mouth.

Liam heard me as he nodded and ran off. After a few seconds the fire alarm sounded throughout the building and everyone was evacuating.

I went with Lydia and Kira as we were told to evacuate as Liam and Scott went to fetch Tracy. We saw her being carried out in Scott's arms and we were quickly told what happened from Stiles.

As we were walking back into the school, we ran into Liam. "They're taking her to the animal clinic?" Kira asked.

"Yeah, to see if Deaton can figure out what's wrong with her." Liam explained.

"What's wrong with her is that she killed two people." Lydia mumbled. "Her father and, according to Parrish, her psychiatrist."

She was killing more people so now it was becoming more likely we will have to put her down. I still want to know what's going on before we do that though. "Isn't there anyone else we can talk to?" Kira asked. "Does she still have her mum? Any family?"

"Alpha." Lydia suddenly realised. "If she's a werewolf, she has an Alpha, right? Anyone know if a new one's moved into beacon Hills?"

"No, but there's an old one." I spoke up. "Like, centuries old. One of the oldest. And we know her."

I glanced at Liam who had a face of displeasure. "And her pack."

Liam and I went to Devenford Prep to find Brett. We brought Mason along since he wanted to come and we couldn't say no to him. Well, more like I wouldn't let Liam say no. I was in a good mood since I would get to see Brett again.

We arrived at the sports field where he was practicing lacrosse with some others. Shirtless. He had the ball and scored a goal before swinging the stick behind his head, making his muscles more visible. "So, he's a werewolf too?" Mason asked while Liam had his arms crossed.

"Yup." Liam answered with distaste in his voice.

Mason started nodding while sighing. "This just gets better and better." Mason was obviously very attracted to Brett so his checking Brett out comment made me laugh. Yup, I really like Mason.

"Okay, now how do we get him over here?" Liam questioned.

I sighed, these kids. "Let me handle this." I gave Liam a nod. Brett for starters was a werewolf and could easily hear. Secondly, he would hate anything that could bring his ego down. I stepped forwards and cupped my hands around my mouth before shouting. "Put on a shirt!"

I saw Brett whip his head in our direction while I flashed him a smile. I turned to see Liam raising his eyebrows at me and Mason seemed to hate my suggestion to Brett. I gave them a thumbs up before turning around to see Brett jogging over to us.

"Wow." He said when he arrived. "Looks like the stalker has lifted her game." He chuckled while glancing at me.

I bit my tongue. I knew he just wanted to start something with me but I also knew he was just messing around. "Oh, shut it." Was the best I could come up with.

"Since when were you two so chummy." Liam questioned with a hidden hate in his voice.

"Ever since we bonded over dead pools together." I stated while giving Brett a knowing look. "Which reminds me. Maybe if you had run around shirtless the whole time you might have been worth more on that list." I joked with him.

"Anyway." Liam interrupted us. He pulled out his phone and pulled up a picture of Tracy from the yearbook to show Brett. "Do you know this girl?"

"Cute. But never seen her." He told us.

"Could Satomi have turned her without you knowing?" Liam asked, displeasure no longer in his voice.

Brett gave him an incredulous look. "After the dead pool, Satomi's not exactly doing much recruiting."

Mason looked between us. "That's how it works? Alpha werewolves just go around biting people?" He was so intrigued.

"Or you can be born, like me and my sister." Brett explained. "Satomi took us in after our family died in a fire."

"Guys, I think I just found something." Liam stated as he zoomed up on Tracy's picture to her necklace.

"What?" I said looking at photo. "A necklace?"

"I don't really see how that's gonna help with the situation." Mason told his best friends with a confused expression.

Liam sighed as he looked at me. "Remember when us and Stiles were following Theo?" I gave a slight nod not really wanting to remember that embarrassing confrontation. "Well, when I fell in that hole, this necklace was in it." He stated as he shoved the phone closer to my face.

"Are you sure it was her necklace?" Brett inquired with a sceptical look.

Liam raised his arms before lowering them. "Yes. I'm sure. It was there."

"Fine." I stated making the three boys look at me. "I believe you. So, let's go have a look."

"What? Right now." Mason questioned us. "But the sun's starting to set. It's gonna be night soon."

"Well." I began. "We better get moving then." I turned around to face Brett. "Which means you might want to put some appropriate clothes on."

"What? Why?" Brett and Liam asked with surprise.

"Because." I grabbed both boys by the shoulder and pushed them forwards to start walking. "Brett is coming with us."

I could hear them muttering and grumbling but I ignored their complaints, turning to face Mason. "You ready to roll?"

Mason's mouth turned into a huge smile. "Of course."

By the time we had reached the woods, it was dark. The four of us were searching for the hole Liam fell into. "Sure you know where you're going?" Brett inquired to Liam.

"I know where I am." He replied without sparing Brett a glance.

"So do I. Middle of nowhere." Brett stated mockingly.

I sighed, catching Mason's attention. "It was your idea to bring them here." He told me with a chuckle.

"I know." I mumbled. "I just didn't realise I would need to be babysitting you boys."

Mason turned to me in shock. "I don't need to be babysat. Those two." He pointed to the bickering boys ahead of us. "Definitely. Me. No."

I chuckled while placing my hand on the boy's shoulder. "Trust me. I'm babysitting you all." I retracted my arm to my side. "Besides, I'm the oldest here. It's kinda my job to look after you all."

Our conversation was interrupted as Brett turned to me, his voice softening slightly from talking to Liam. "Do you know where to go, Luna?"

I looked around at my surroundings as I walked up to the two boys. It was all trees but I knew we were heading in the right direction. "Yeah, we're heading the right way." I stated nodding my head slightly.

Suddenly, there was a loud thud and a short outburst of fear and surprise. We turned to hear Mason calling. "Guys?" We wandered back over to find a hole. After peering down it, we saw Mason rubbing his head. "I think I found it."

"See the necklace?" Liam asked casually. I looked at Brett and Liam. They both seemed so calm and unfazed when Mason has just fell.

"You okay, Mason?" I called out making sure the boy didn't break anything when he fell. The boys all looked at me like I was asking a stupid question. I was taken back. "What? I'm the babysitter." This caused them to become confused and give me strange looks. I could feel the heat flush to my cheeks. "Ah that came out wrong. Don't worry about it." I looked down at Mason, embarrassed.

I saw Mason give me an appreciative and understanding smile before reassuring me. "Yeah, I'm all good. Guess you were right." This caused me to smile. At least Mason knew what I meant.

Mason pulled out his phone and turned the flashlight on. After searching he spoke up, answering Liam's question. "No, I don't see it." Brett leaned down and helped pull Mason out of the hole. Mason brushed himself off before turning to look at the hole he fell in. "Liam, I thought you said this was a sinkhole."

"It's a hole. What's the difference?" Liam said with a shrug.

"I mean, look at all these handprints." Mason explained when he crouched down to have a better look. "And look at all this dirt." He grabbed a handful of the dirt next to the hole.

I crouched down and gingerly touched the dirt. It looked like dirt that had just been dug.

"She didn't fall in here." Brett spoke up in realisation.

"She was buried." Liam responded, catching on.

Mason slightly nodded his head. "Intense."

Liam was still confused as to why there was no necklace so he jumped into the hole to have a look for himself. He pulled out his phone and used the flashlight to search around. "Why isn't it here?" He mumbled with confusion.

"She probably came back for it." Brett reasoned.

Liam sighed before jumping out of the hole. I looked down at it before glancing around us. Something wasn't right. "I don't think this is the right one."

"What do you mean?" Mason inquired.

"Well, it was closer to the bridge, wasn't it?" I turned ask Liam.

He looked around before agreeing with me. "This is a different hole."

"Then who crawled out of this one?" Mason asked with slight worry in his voice. The four of us fell silent. None of us knew the answer or even how to respond.

"Okay." I stated breaking the silence. "Home time. That's enough for tonight." The boys turned to look at me with disbelieving looks. "It's dark and there's school tomorrow." I explained but they weren't convinced at all. "And we aren't going to find much else in the dark so let's move it." I reasoned further while motioning my arms to get the boys walking back to the car.

They finally relented and walked back the way we came. Liam and Mason were ahead as they chatted leaving Brett walking next to me. "Didn't expect you to be the first to give up."

"I'm not giving up. It's just late and sleep is important." I explained to the boy. "Maybe it's just an uncool thing but I prefer sleep to staying up partying."

He chuckled lightly. "But we aren't even at a party."

"What?" I faked shock. "My whole life is a lie. I guess this makes me even lamer." I smiled at Brett.

"Don't worry. You're cool by association." He reassured looking straight ahead. I was confused as I glanced at him out the corner of my eye with a question look. He caught on and explained. "I'm cool. When you're with me, you're cool. Therefore, cool by association."

I laughed. I couldn't help it. "Modest, aren't we? I feel like that instead makes you uncool. And a jerk. Besides, didn't realise you were the cool kid on the block."

"Sure am." He said with pride. "Just ask anyone at Sinema."

I was very confused now. "You want me to ask people at the movie theatre? I didn't realise that was a cool place to hang."

Now it was his turn to laugh at me. "Wow. You really aren't up with it. It's Sinema with and 'S' not a 'C'. It's a club." He explained.

"Oh." I said in realisation and embarrassment. "And what? That's your hangout spot or something?"

"Yep." Brett answered, popping the 'P'. "Go there every Friday night." His eyes flicked down to me. "I can take you there if you'd like."

I held up my hand to wave him off. "Nah. Ain't my style." After I saw his slight frown, I reassured him. "But who knows, maybe one day." That seemed to put a smile on his face.

We had reached the end of the woods where the cars were parked. Brett had driven his car while I had taken the Liam and Mason. We said our goodbyes to Brett as I drove the two boys home. Mason was the first we dropped off before I was driving to Liam's house.

My phone started ringing. I pulled it out and saw the caller was Scott. I threw my phone to Liam. "It's Scott. Put it on speaker."

Liam did as instructed and held the phone between us so that I could drive and still talk. "Hey, Scott." I said casually.

"Luna, where are you?" Scott's panicked voice came through the phone.

His tone of voice put me a bit on edge. "I'm in the car driving Liam home. Why's that?"

His next few words hit me like a wrecking ball. "Lydia's in the hospital. Tracey attacked the sheriff station trying to kill her mum."

"What?" I cried out. "Is she okay?"

"She's going into surgery. Can you come to the hospital? I'll tell you everything when you're here. You can bring Liam." Scott told me hastily.

I didn't even hesitate. "On our way." I said seriously as I quickly checked my mirrors. There were no cars in sight. I threw my foot on the break while I turned the wheel sharply. The car swung around, turning in the opposite direction as I sped towards the hospital.
