Chapter 6a: Blindsided
The forest during the daytime was beautiful. Even more so than when Adrian had first arrived, maybe because he was actually in the condition to appreciate it. He scanned the area looking for any man made structures, like a path, or a sign pointing them away from the forest. There was nothing, except the prison that he had just left.
"Forward is as good of a direction as any." Saralyn remarked, and began walking. Adrian followed closely behind, keeping his newly acquired sword on hand. He turned back to the prison anxiously, expecting the Order to come bursting through the entrance to chase them down at any moment.
"I still don't know where the hell everyone went. And why would they just leave us in the prison alone?!" Adrian shrugged, being as clueless as she was.
"If I had to guess, they probably were scrambling to get their new husbands out of the prison and forgot about us in all the chaos."
"Selfish bastards." Saralyn mumbled unhappily. She opened her mouth to speak again but was interrupted by a yawn.
"Still tired?"
"Yes. I'm not used to being woken up this early. I usually get up from bed when I want to."
"Well. Sorry for waking you up so suddenly. I did save your life, you know. If we had stayed asleep the Order would've probably captured us. I don't want to know what they would do with us after that…"
"Drained us, probably to death. The stuff they've been doing in this place is disgusting. I fought with one of the mages; He actually took pride in doing what he did. Can you believe this?"
"We need to get help. Lescatie would know what to do in this kind of situation. They deal with this kind of stuff."
Adrian struggled to recall what he had read about Lescatie. It had originally been one of the Order's strongest, but also most corrupt cities. Its corruption had been why the extremists had invaded it, not wanting to stand idle while the Order abused its citizens. The book had described the invasion being over incredibly quickly, despite Lescatie being the second strongest Order city in the world. Yes. They would know how to deal with this type of situation.
"Well, we need to get to Aliville and get some faster transportation, because I'm not walking all the way to Lescatie."
"I walked all the way from Dragonia to this place. We could do it."
"No. Just no. You said it took five months to get here. If what you read about these 'gray incubi' is true, we need to shut the Order's project down as fast as possible."
Saralyn gave him a sideways glance. "I was joking, Adrian."
Adrian suddenly felt very embarrassed. "Right… What I said still stands."
The two of them quickened their pace, the full weight of the situation becoming even more clear than it already was. Adrian tried to take his mind off of the thoughts of impending death and destruction by the Order.
"So, what did you do as an adventurer before you found me?"
"Well, after I woke up on a mountain, I found out I was near a place called Dragonia'. Nice place. Although I kinda felt out of place alongside all of the dragons and wyverns. I was homeless for a little bit, just spent the first couple of weeks in a cave." She told him.
"Eventually, I met this very nice salamander named Tiara. She gave me a place to stay, I explained that I was suffering from amnesia, she explained this world to me, gave me some money and helped me get off my feet. I owe the world to her."
"She also was a proficient gun user. One of the very few salamanders that studied the gun instead of the sword. She was looking for someone to teach, and when I said I wanted to learn how to use a revolver, she was ecstatic." Saralyn pulled out her two guns, looking them over. "She was one strict trainer, though. Something tells me she was bitter that her first student wasn't a man."
"Monsters really do always have sex on their minds…"
"Speaking of which, Adrian. When are the two of us going to, you know…"
Saralyn's attempt at wooing Adrian into having sex with her was swifty shut down when Adrian's stomach started growling. Her expression immediately turned worried.
"Adrian, how far away is this Aliville place that you were talking about?"
"From here? No idea. This could be an entirely different forest, for all I know." Adrian shook his head, feeling his stomach growl once more. He hadn't eaten anything since he had left Sharon's home before he had been captured. It had been a full day since then, and his impromptu fasting was taking its toll. Combined with the fighting he had gone through in the prison, he was feeling both tired and hungry.
"Damn… We need to keep going. We'll get out of this place eventually. We just need to keep walking." Saralyn quickened her pace, but Adrian struggled to stay behind her. He was about to call out for her to slow down when he saw a place that he recognized. The cave that Sharon had first found him in, and where he had been first captured. Its presence meant that they were possibly near Sharon's house. Even the leaves that he had placed months ago were still there.
"Saralyn! Come back, I think we might be close to shelter!" He called out. Saralyn came running back. She looked into the cave, unimpressed.
"This?" She pointed into the cave. "You think this is a shelter?"
"I slept here once, when I first woke up in this place. This is where Sharon first found me." Adrian looked around the forest. "Her house is probably somewhere nearby."
"I remember you were talking about her. I didn't see any unicorns while I was exploring the prison, so either she escaped or was killed. I don't know, to be honest." Saralyn sighed, disappointed.
"Either way, her house probably has something we can eat to help us on our journey. Plus, I know the route to Aliville from her house."
Adrian ran through the woods frantically looking for the familiar cabin. He had long since grown tired of the forest, and wanted to leave. The burning question of whether Sharon was still alive lingered in his mind constantly but he didn't know if he would ever answer that at this point. His and Saralyn's survival were top priority.
"I see something! Over here, Adrian!" Saralyn's voice called out to him. Adrian ran excitedly to Saralyn's voice, eventually catching up to her pointing towards Sharon's house. It was just how Adrian had left it; the broken fence and the smashed in door. It had barely been two days, but it felt like forever for him.
Not wanting to trample her crops any more than the soldiers did, Adrian used the front gate and walked up to the door. Pushing aside what was left of it, he and Saralyn entered.
He and Sharon had lived very simply. The house consisted of four rooms; a kitchen, two bedrooms, and a living room. He would help her with housekeeping, and she would continue sheltering him. The house was freezing; the fireplace hadn't been used in hours and the broken door didn't do well at keeping the heat inside.
Sharon was nowhere in sight. If she was alive, Adrian assumed she would've fled to the Aliville.
"Anything we could use here?" Saralyn asked. Adrian began rummaging around the cabinets and drawers looking for something they could eat. Adrian felt slightly guilty about ransacking her house like this, but she probably would allow it if she knew the situation they were in. He managed to find some miscellaneous vegetables in a box in one of the cabinets. Adrian handed them over to Saralyn, since he didn't trust himself with cooking.
"Not much to work with here. Did Sharon have meat of any kind?" Saralyn asked as she scoured the cabinets and pantry for additional ingredients.
"Unicorns don't eat meat very often. Sharon herself said that she had never touched meat of any kind in her life."
"Sucks for her, she's missing out on a lot of great food." Saralyn laid all of the ingredients that they had gathered on the counter. "I should be able to get something ready in about forty-five minutes."
"Good, because I'm starving to death over here." Adrian's stomach growled loudly. "Case in point."
The hunger was beginning to take its toll on him. Adrian had now gone for a full day without any food. Sharon had kept him well fed, so he wasn't prepared to go this long without any sustenance. He noticed Saralyn seemed to be doing well, but she was a mamono, and apparently they were less affected by hunger than humans.
"Saralyn, I'm going to try and get some rest." Adrian decided that he was going to get some sleep before eating. The five hours of walking had left him very tired. He went back to the bedroom Sharon gave him when he had been living with her.
"That's fine. I'll wake you up when the food is ready." Adrian laid down on the pillow and closed his eyes.
He had barely gotten five minutes of sleep before something woke him up. Adrian rubbed his eyes as he got off the bed. He nearly jumped seven feet into the air out of shock when he saw someone standing in front of his bed.
"Who the hell are you?!" Adrian asked fearfully. The man didn't look like he was with the Order, instead wearing the same badge that Adrian's shirt had when he had first woken up. He took a look around the room. The homey bedroom that Sharon had given him was now gone, replaced with the drab looking interior of what looked to be an underground barracks.
"You know who is requesting your presence. You do not want to keep her waiting, do you?"
"I don't know who you're talking about?"
The man completely ignored Adrian's confusion, taking him by the hand outside of the barracks. Adrian attempted to pull away, but his body moved on his own. His legs walked him outside of the barracks. A blinding white void greeted him. The amnesiac squinted, a figure barely visible despite all the light. A familiar looking woman entered the blank space, standing next to him.
"Saralyn? What the hell is going on?! What's happening to us? Where are we?!" Adrian asked desperately. Saralyn didn't even look in his direction, instead staring at the first figure. It began to speak in a distorted and garbled tone, Adrian barely able to understand what it was saying.
"Saralyn, you have disobeyed a direct order. Therefore we have made the decision to 'discharge' you from…"
Adrian didn't hear the rest of the figure's sentence. It began to raise its hands in the air, a ball of turquoise blue light emitting from one of its hands. Without warning, it shot straight towards Saralyn. Adrian's body reacted without his input, lunging in front of the ball of light, blocking it from Saralyn's body. Just before it hit his chest, Adrian could make out an expression of fear on the figure's face.
Everything went dark.
Adrian woke up with a start. His heart was beating and his skin was damp with sweat. He tried his best to recall the dream, not being able to remember anything but a few vague details. Saralyn was there. They were in a barracks. They were talking to someone who clearly had authority over them.
What is happening to me? I keep having these strange dreams that I can't remember much of…
His stomach growled, reminding Adrian of more immediate matters. He got up from the bed, thankfully having regained control of his own body. He looked out the window, seeing Saralyn kneeling next to a pot over a fire, stirring its contents. The dhampir looked over at him and waved.
"I see you're awake! It's almost done, look for some bowls and spoons and come out." She yelled from outside. He felt relieved at the thought of finally getting a good meal. He looked through the kitchen drawers, picked out two medium sized bowls and two spoons, and walked outside.
"Just in time."
"Smells heavenly, Saralyn."
"Thanks. You're probably on the verge of starving to death, right?" Saralyn joked.
"Yep." Both of them snickered.
Adrian began scooping as much soup as he could into his mouth, only to burn himself . "Ow!" he sputtered, while Saralyn looked over at him, concerned.
"What's wrong?! Does it taste bad?" She asked.
"No… tastes amazing, in fact. Why didn't you tell me it was hot?"
"It came straight out of a boiling pot." Adrian felt silly. Of course it was going to be scalding hot…
He waited a little bit before digging in. As the two of them ate, they began talking more about their mutual amnesia. "Any ideas on how we could recover our memories?" Adrian asked.
"We could go to a mindflayer. They deal with these sorts of problems. Unfortunately, they're rather rare."
"A mindflayer? Sounds scary." Adrian remarked, going off the definition of the word "flay".
"They're abyssal monsters. Apparently, they come from the bottom of the ocean. They might do some freaky stuff with their husbands but I assure you, they're nice people who won't hurt you."
"Right… So can they fix us?"
"They're our best shot at getting rid of our amnesia. We might even find out who's responsible for doing this to us."
"Good, because I don't enjoy being an amnesiac. I don't even know how old I am."
Both of them finished up their dinner and washed their dishes using water from the river, and put them back in the cabinets. Both of them wanted to respect Sharon's property. They then headed to bed. Adrian wanted to get some rest, but Saralyn had other ideas.
Saralyn looked over at Adrian, lewdly grinning. "You know… I cooked for you and I saved your life multiple times. I think I deserve some sort of reward, don't you think? Just because I'm a mamono that acts like a human, doesn't mean I can resist the urge to have sex forever." Adrian knew his time was up. He didn't have any excuse to get her to back off.
"Besides. If you turn into an incubus, our amnesia might get cured. You don't want to stay an amnesiac forever, do you? I sure don't. And it looks like you're unclaimed. Perfect, right?" Saralyn reasoned.
That got his attention. The deal she was offering had practically zero downsides. "Sure." he said without thinking much.
Adrian began taking off his clothes. Saralyn had already disrobed. She was practically salivating just by looking at him. "Remember what I said about your blood being sucked being the second best feeling you'll ever have?" She whispered to him directly into his ear.
As soon as he took off his underwear, she suddenly swallowed his dick with her mouth and started moving her head up and down. Adrian's senses were suddenly hit with a blast of pleasure.
"What are you doing?!" He asked, surprised.
"Haven't you heard of a blowjob, Adrian… Need to lubricate it before we have proper sex…" Saralyn murmured.
Adrian let out a small moan as pleasure began spreading throughout his entire body. He had known mamono were better at pleasuring men than human women, but words couldn't describe the sensations he was feeling.
Adrian's hips began thrusting upwards slightly, out of his control. After about a minute and a half of this, He began feeling a rising sensation in the lower half of his body. "Saralyn… going to…" Adrian choked out.
"It's fine. Give it to me." Saralyn murmured, grinning up at him. Adrian couldn't resist the feelings anymore, and let out way more semen than he had expected. The shockwaves of pleasure only lasted for about five seconds, but it felt like five minutes for Adrian. His head was spinning.
"Yes! This is so much better than blood!" Saralyn yelled. Bits of his cum dripped from her mouth as she rejoiced.
"It's not over… You know what time it is now." She cooed. She stood up and began lining up her entrance with his dick. She closed her eyes in anticipation, and dropped downwards.
She missed.
"O-oops… I'm sorry, this is the first time I'm doing this!" Saralyn sputtered, embarrassed.
"Take your time…" Adrian assured her. She tried again, and succeeded.
The pleasure he felt from the blowjob didn't compare to this. He involuntarily let out a gasp. Saralyn's eyes widened. Both of them were shocked from the first-time sensations.
Saralyn eventually recovered, and began moving up and down slowly, then faster and faster. He also thrusted upwards, eliciting moans from her. Eventually he released even more inside of her.
"Not enough… need more…" she gasped as she began moving up and down even faster. Both of them went like this like animals for god knows how long. Adrian's body began feeling hotter than usual. Must be mamono mana. Eventually both of them tired themselves out. Saralyn collapsed onto his bare chest, laying her arms on his shoulders.
"I've done it… Nobody is ever going to take you from me." She whispered as the two of them fell asleep in each other's arms. This time, Adrian's sleep was filled with pleasant dreams, unlike the nightmare from before.
Unfortunately, neither of them managed to get much rest. In the midst of their passionate lovemaking, they had forgotten that they were in freshly claimed enemy territory. Adrian was awoken by the sounds of talking outside the window. Opening his eyes, he gently pushed Saralyn off of him and got up from the bed.
"We already hit this place. The unicorn got away and its little slave escaped from the prison a few hours ago. It should be safe to stay here until we get extra reinforcements." A faint voice came from outside.
He snuck a peak outside, and saw a group of six order soldiers walking towards the house. Three of them split off and went to the back of the house. Adrian recognized one of them as the person who had captured him yesterday. This was all beginning to feel familiar. Adrian shook Saralyn violently. The dhampir let out a groan of disapproval, rolling away from him.
"Wake up! The Order's here!" Adrian hissed at her quietly. He grabbed the dhampir's clothes and tossed them at her, Saralyn's shirt hitting her square in the face. She slowly peeled it off her face and quickly dressed herself, grabbing her guns off the nearby nightstand.
"Today is just full of surprises, isn't it." Saralyn grumbled. "Can't even drink blood or have sex with my husband without the Order ruining everything."
"Never a dull moment… Come on, we need to get rid of these bastards." Adrian drew his realm silver sword. "I say we take them by surprise."
"Sounds great. How should we proceed with this?" Saralyn whispered to him.
"Fire out the window. Try to take down all three of them. I'm going to try and deal with the other three." Adrian slowly creaked the bedroom door open, peering out into the living room. He quickly ducked into Sharon's vacant bedroom, preparing for an ambush. The other half of the group hadn't got inside yet.
"I've got a clear shot on them." Saralyn aimed her gun through the blinds of the window. "Firing… Now!"
Several deafening bangs rang through the air as the two Order soldiers outside dropped to the ground. The third one reacted quicker than his partners as he immediately kneeled next the fence. Saralyn immediately kneeled down below the windowsill to reload both of her guns, but the sole survivor of Saralyn's bulletstorm began to advance towards the house, crossing the front yard and began to cautiously open what was left of the door, checking his corners.
Saralyn immediately felt a familiar sensation, the same feeling she had gotten when she had encountered the gray incubus at the prison. She was going up against another one. The dhampir took a deep breath as she finished reloading both of her guns. Despite countless hours of practice it still took an agonizing amount of time to reload both revolvers.
Saralyn kicked open the bedroom door and sprinted outside, determined to take the gray incubus by surprise, only for him to be kneeling next to the door. He grabbed Saralyn by the shoulders and threw her into the fence, tearing a large gap in it. The magically augmented man leapt into the air with his sword drawn for a downwards strike directly on Saralyn's head. She barely managed to roll out of the way, firing two shots at the man. One missed and the other nicked the man's cheek.
Saralyn kept track of her shots; She had ten bullets left to finish off the gray incubus before she would have to use hand to hand combat to beat him. Her chances of winning that way weren't the greatest, especially against an opponent with a sword. She scrambled to her feet once more and tried to put some distance between her and her target.
The gray incubi charged forward at lightning speed with his blade aimed at Saralyn's chest. She sidestepped the attack and whipped the man in the head with one of her revolvers, hoping to stun him, but he barely reacted.
"Weak."
Shouting came from inside the house, followed by something hitting the ground and shattering. The gray incubus looked over his shoulder for one second, and Saralyn took full advantage. She fired several bullets towards the man's head. He quickly brought his sword up, only for the force of the bullets to launch it far away. He grinned, balling up his fists. Saralyn tried to fire again only for him to push both of her gun's barrels away and grab her neck.
The dhampir clawed at the magically influenced man's arms, trying to force him to let go. His grip held strong despite the scratch marks on his arms. In the midst of Saralyn's flailing she accidentally kicked him between the legs. He let out a cry of shock, dropping Saralyn. She scooped up one of her revolvers and fired directly into his chest. He fell backwards, unconscious.
Not my most honorable victory…
Saralyn took a few moments to catch her breath as she retrieved her other gun and began running back towards the house to help Adrian.
Chapter 6b: Fading Loyalty
Outskirts of Aperia
Cassiel stared blankly at the map in front of her, deep in thought. She thought about the bridge, and the unfortunate souls that were on it. She thought about everyone that was in the armory that Nuriel and Ophaniel had destroyed. She thought about the entire city suffering from whatever Pahaliah had poisoned the crops with. Cassiel tried to think of ways that she could've stopped Raniel without her getting suspicious. It was already too late for the poor people in Ichoriya but maybe she could prevent or at least alleviate some of the damage down the line.
Raniel was pointing at the map and talking about their next mission, but Cassiel barely heard anything that was coming out of her mouth.
"Cassiel." A voice spoke to her. "Are you feeling remorseful?"
Cassiel immediately snapped out of her tuned-out state, and began looking around the room. Raniel and the rest of her team were gone. Instead replaced by what looked like a dark angel, but with six wings. Her dark skin looked soft and silky, her white hair flowing over it. She wore a more elegant version of the clothing Cassiel had seen dark priests wear. The raw power radiating from the being rendered her immobile, even though she desperately wanted to get out of her chair and put some distance between the two of them.
"What's going on?! What is this? Who are you?" Cassiel shouted towards the being.
"You don't recognize me? For all the lying your leader does about me, she forgot to give you a basic description of the Fallen God?" Cassiel tried to respond but couldn't.
This is the end. She's going to turn me into a dark angel. I'm going to be excommunicated from Aperia.
Hundreds, maybe even thousands of angels have met the fate that she was about to experience. Cassiel didn't know; Ophelia stopped telling her about them at around the fifteenth angel gone dark. In a way, this would be cathartic. She could finally live freely, not having to worry about Ophelia or Raniel. Maybe she would even get the chance to start a family.
Although if that was all she knew about going dark, she would've done that long ago if it weren't for everything Ophelia told her about the Fallen God and Pandemonium.
"I can see you've accepted your fate… Not surprising, considering what you've been through lately. I'm sure you know why I'm here. You're one of the very few angels in this place that actually sees through Ophelia's lies."
"Just get on with it and turn me dark already." Cassiel muttered, her eyes locked on the Fallen God.
"I can see you're willing and eager. That's good. But unlike many of the poor angels that I've freed, you seem to actually want to do something about Aperia's wrongdoings. I too am quite displeased with everything they've done over the past few years. I say the two of us work together." The Fallen God grinned and held out her hand.
"I don't want your help."
The Fallen God raised an eyebrow. "Really? You don't? Just a few seconds ago you were thinking about everything you could've done to stop Raniel, but didn't because you were too scared. We both know you want th-"
"Fallen God! Stay away from my subordinate!" A furious voice echoed from behind Cassiel. The angel turned her head, seeing no other than Ophelia, the seraph holding a large, glowing white scythe with a look of rage in her eyes. The Fallen God's grin changed to a confused frown as she laid eyes on the newcomer.
"How the hell did you…?"
Dozens of glowing white projectiles appeared behind Ophelia and hurled themselves towards the Fallen God. The deity quickly put her hands in the air and created a shimmering purple shield around her body, the projectiles bouncing off harmlessly and dissolving as they hit the floor. Not letting this faze her, Ophelia lunged forward at speeds too fast for Cassiel to perceive, her scythe piercing the shield. The Fallen God looked up at the deadly weapon, before shaking her head.
"I'll be back later."
"CASSIEL!" Raniel yelled, wanting to get her subordinate's attention. The angel quickly snapped out of her vision and looked at her commander. Both Ophelia and the Fallen God had vanished and Raniel and the rest of her team reappeared, leaving the map room as she remembered it. "Yes, commander?" Raniel shook her head, looking rather displeased at her subordinate's distraction.
"What were our orders?" Nuriel and Ophaniel began snickering at the recruit's misfortune. They knew she didn't pick up a word of what their commander was saying.
"Um…"
"The twin priests of Arcani, a high ranking country of the Order!" Raniel raised her voice suddenly to emphasize her point, "Are going to be giving a speech in a couple days. Just like Ophelia. Do you know what the speech is about?!" Raniel angrily shouted.
"You don't have to shout." Cassiel mumbled.
"Ever since the bridge, you've been getting increasingly harder to get through. I understand that there were innocent civilians on that bridge, but you need to get over it. Everyone else did. Wanna know how? It was unavoidable! The bridge needed to fall, and there would always be people on it. It had to be done."
"It's not just about the bridge..."
"Anyways, we're going to assassinate Henry and Audrey Serrano. Both of them have a lot of power in the Order, so there's going to be a lot of security. That includes angels and valkyries that still serve the Chief God. Cassiel, are you listening to me?"
Cassiel nodded back at Raniel.
"Good. I want you to know that the twin priests of Arcani have been embezzling funds dedicated to helping the civilians of Arcani. You know, building orphanages, homeless shelters, creating jobs, lovely stuff like that. Exploiting the common folk. Does that remind you of anyone? Like a certain corrupt priest from Lescatie?"
Cassiel remembered. Priest Noscrim. The true ruler of pre-mamono realm Lescatie. He had vanished shortly after the nation fell to Druella. A couple years later, he orchestrated an assassination on the king and queen of Aperia, later reappearing in one of Aperia's allied countries, Aerokon, intending to overthrow it. The Matriarch had sent her most trusted and experienced team to stop the usurper, and they had succeeded.
"They're just like Priest Noscrim." Cassiel responded. This, she could understand. The thought of becoming a political assassin on top of already being part of what was essentially a terrorist group unnerved her, but if they deserved it…
"I see. We're going to kill them?"
"That's right." Raniel reaffirmed.
"Alright…. Sure." Cassiel put on her best smile. This was more like what she signed up for.
"Nice to see you're finally in the mood. I remember why I recruited you now. So, what methods would be the most effective?"
Lescatie
Druella sat atop her throne in her castle, pondering over the events of the past few days. Ichoriya, a major supplier city for the Order, had its main bridge destroyed by a wurm on accident and its fields obliterated by a random outbreak. A mere seven days later, the Matriarch of Aperia, Ophelia, had declared war on the leadership of the Order.
This was no coincidence; Ophelia had clearly taken advantage of the situation. Diplomat Castor and his wife had even mentioned that Ophelia was going to declare war no matter what, during their failed attempt at diplomacy.
Druella wanted to stop all of the bloodshed. She wanted nothing more than to march over to Aperia with her army and convert it into a mamono realm. It was in her blood to despise unnecessary death and violence. Lescatie's military could intervene in battles when they could, but they couldn't be everywhere at once.
The door to her throne room opened, and two of her most trusted heroes, Primera Concerto and Mimil Miltie walked in. She had remembered that she had sent the two as spies to Aperia to gather what information they could on Ophelia's plans.
"Good morning, the two of you. What do you think is going with Ophelia?"
Primera spoke first. "It appears that she is going to fight the war on the Order… indirectly, to say the least. She has been organizing groups of her elite soldiers to sabotage points of interest."
"How… dishonorable of her. Still, there's a chance that it could just be her taking advantage of the situation. Opportunistic warmongers aren't rare in this day and age."
"Another thing." Mimil added on. "While we were in Aperia, she appeared to be talking to someone. She grew incredibly angry at one point. Afterwards, she spotted us, and we had to bail. From what we could gather, she had a close friend who had feelings for her… that she didn't reciprocate."
"Fascinating." Druella's interest piqued. She had never seen a normal human be this close to a high ranking angel. Her mind began teeming with lewd thoughts. The two of them would have been so happy together if Ophelia just turned dark and let out all of those repressed feelings for him. She knew another seraph that had turned dark for a human she was watching. The two of them had retired to Pandemonium for a life of bliss and pleasure.
"What happened to him? You said 'had'."
The short witch's face expression became downcast. "She said she's moved on. I believe that he's passed away."
Druella looked down. This was the exact thing that she wanted to stop. She could only hope that some lich or banshee would come across his corpse and give him a second chance.
"Anything else?"
"We talked to the local populace, apparently she also cared deeply for the late king and queen of Aperia. About thirty years ago, right after you took over Lescatie, they were killed in a surprise attack by the Order. They had a son who Ophelia acted as an adoptive mother for as well. Recently, he vanished. Nobody has been able to find him."
Druella pondered the information. It was making her upset; all the chances for potential mamono-human couples were lost.
And for what? Faith? Money?
"Primera and Mimil, thank you for this information. Go be with Elt; I'm sure the subject matter of your trip has made you quite sad as well."
Primera and Mimil both shared an expression of intense excitement, happiness and lust at her last order. Both of them began arguing about who would get to go first with him as they raced each other out of the throne room.
Druella sighed. She could use some time with her husband as well. Getting up from her throne, she stretched her wings, arms, legs, and tail. Gathering her magic, she teleported to her personal chambers.
