Mig watched as Virgil chose his outfits, "Where is it at?"
"Bruce's mansion in Gotham."
"How far is that?"
"Like an hour North," he shrugged, buttoning his shirt, trying to decide if he wanted to go for tucked or untucked. Or if he even wanted it buttoned all the way to the top.
"Is mami going?"
"Nope, she made other plans to hang with her friend. I mean, she said she might swing by depending when she's done hanging with Lindsay, but I doubt it."
The giant sulked, "Are you going to eat there?"
"Yep, I would imagine there would be food at the party."
"Are you going to be out all night?"
Virgil smirked, leaning over to smooth his boy's hair back, "If you want to go you can just say that, Bubs."
Mig shifted on the bed, glancing towards the window, "Will it be a lot of people there?"
"Less than you deal with at work, but probably a reasonable amount. And you know who will be there?"
"Jason?"
"Yep, your friend Jason will be there," he took his boy by the chin, gently shaking his head from side to side, "Think you want to go?"
"Will I bother you if I go?"
"Of course not, you'll be my favorite thing there," he pat his head, going back to the mirror as Miguel smiled.
"Uhm, I'll go to make sure you're safe."
"Please do, Dick might try something weird with me when they start offering champagne," V shuddered dramatically.
Miguel nodded, going to figure out what outfit he wanted to wear, "Is it business casual or casual?"
"Business casual probably," Virgil tied his hair back into a ponytail and put his earrings in, "Do you need help choosing your outfit, honey?"
"I have two ideas. Do you want to see them?"
"Uh huh. Yep," he made his way to Miguel's room, "Look at that. Those are pretty nice choices," he scrutinized the shirt and pants, "Think you'll be able to dance in these slacks?"
"I'm not dancing," Mig sniggered, shaking his head.
"Aww, so you're not gonna dance with me?"
The giant swayed some, blushing at the thought of doing that in front of a group, "Well…maybe with you…"
"There's my boy, being blushy again," he teased, "I think it's a bit too warm for corduroys," Virgil set those pants aside, "How about we do this nice top with these pants? That away if you guys decide to play outside it won't be a big deal if they rip. Sound good?" he waited for his boy's nod, "Ok, arms up."
X
"Yes," a pause, "Yes I did," another pause, "Ok."
"Don't be rolling your eyes at me, punk," Jess scoffed.
"How do you know if I'm rolling my eyes, you can't see me," Virgil scoffed back.
"Because I know you."
"Then you should know that I've only been packing diaper bags for, I don't know, since the twins were babies. I know how to pack for an all nighter, ma'am."
"Do you know to drink with food on your stomach and to have water between your shots? Hm? Sassy."
"Now who's rolling their eyes?" Virgil glanced to his phone. Him and his wife knew each other too well, "You should be thinking about the drinks we're gonna be having in a few weeks. I already can taste my pina colada. Us on the beach, and don't dare count out that jacuzzi."
"I will never count out a jacuzzi," she smiled, sweat dripping from her chin, "You'll probably love it more than me, since you're taking the babes to the woods, what? Next week?"
"Yea, pretty busy," he shrugged, before teasing his woman, "Sounds like the idea of us in the jacuzzi already has you breathless."
"Close, but no," a wipe of her eyebrow, "Kickboxing. I can't freaking wait for this vacation. Been a long time coming."
"Too freaking long, man," he agreed, "Well, you have fun assaulting a defenseless bag and tell Lindsay I said hi."
"Will do, babe. Enjoy the party. Tell everyone I said hi and that I'll make the next one."
"Bye Sweetheart."
"Bye," Miguel call3d.
"Bubs says bye too."
"Bye pumpkin, have fun."
"Mommy said bye," he ended the call, "Can't tell if she's your mom or mine sometimes."
Mig played with the feet of Clover, the stuffed car goose, "You love it."
He smiled and shrugged, "Yeah. What can I say? It's the mama's boy in me," he chuckled to himself, "We are almost there. So there will be a lot of supers there. And-"
"Will Kent be there? And Diana?"
"Yep, they'll both be there with their offspring," Virgil smiled, "Do we remember what our expected behaviors are at other people's homes?"
"Same rules as at home. No yelling, hitting, or being mean and if someone does any of that to me I have to tell you."
"Yep. When are those things ok?"
"When playing with someone who agrees to play like that. Like Jason."
"That's daddy's good boy," he reached over, patting his hand, "Are we bringing Clover?"
There was that blush again, "N-no."
"Ok, baby. There are a lot of other littles here. I know you're nervous now, but I think you'll feel comfortable soon around others."
Miguel just silently held daddy's hand, nodding.
X
"Hi little one!" Diana squeezed Miguel's face, "Aren't you just so precious? I'm happy your daddy decided to bring you."
Miguel gave a bashful simper as the amazonian kissed his nose.
Jon flew up to look at the newcomer, "He's the new baby?"
"Yep," Virgil gently pinched his boy's cheek, "This is Miguel. We call him Miggy or Mimi."
"Hi baby," the boy smiled, petting the giant's head, "I like him, he's very cute!" he dropped to the ground, taking Miguel's hand, "I'm going to introduce him to everyone else. To my big little brother Conner, Uncle Lex is here so he can meet him, and oh Damian!"
"Hold on, hold on. Wait," Virgil reached out, grabbing Jon's shoulder, "Who are we meeting now?"
"I'm gonna take him to Connor and Damian," he repeated.
"And who else? I distinctly remember you saying a third person."
"Oh! Uncle Lex, dad made him come," the boy smiled.
"Uhm, let's wait until he meets all the other nice people before we go off introducing him to Luther. I would really like to be present for that and I want to just hang out with the others right now."
Jon nodded, listening to Virgil, "Ok, I'll introduce him to everyone else then," he attempted to pull Miguel but the man looked back at his caretaker.
"¿Puedo?"
"I don't speak Spanish, baby," Virgil reminded him, getting a pout in response.
"He's asking you permission," Bruce glared at the younger man.
"Oh!" V nodded, "Of course. Go have fun, remember the rules."
Mig smiled, allowing superboy to lead him away.
Virg smiled, watching him go off. He turned, seeing Bruce's glare. A slow glance about the room, before Virgil brought his eyes back to meet Bruce's disapproving look. The younger man smirked, pulling his shirt closer to his chest, "My daddy would kill you."
"Funny," he disputed the mocking.
"You're the one undressing me with your eyes."
"You've had him for two years and don't know Spanish?"
"Look, if it aint on Dora I don't know it," he shrugged, grabbing a drink.
"I'm signing you up for classes."
"No you're not."
"Yes, I am."
"You can't make me go."
"You'll have a tutor at your house Monday," Batman stated, as if to make sure the decision was understood as final.
"Good, can't wait to not let them in," Virgil gave him a cheeky grin. Still so much resembling the silly 14 year old they met almost two decades ago, "How about a new topic of discussion? Why is Lex here?"
Bruce rolled his eyes and shrugged, "Clark invited him."
"Ok, cool, and I never wanted to learn Spanish. What a good conversation!" Virgil shrugged, his eyes curling with his wide smile.
The billionaire shook his head, patting his shoulder, "Brat. You would have made a great Robin."
Virg scoffed, sipping his drink, "Nope, sorry. My mental health is too good and I have two great, loving parents who are very alive."
"Wow," Dick walked over scoffing, "Rude."
"Oh, sorry man. Were you listening? Let me clarify it: My parents are wonderful and my mental space is pretty strong."
Nightwing shook his head at his friend's grin, "Prick."
