One hour later
Penfold was in the waiting room at the British hospital. He was pacing around the room with concern for his friend, he was having a surgery about the internal bleeding in his body, the loss of blood, etc.
after a while, a surgeon got out the operation room, his expression was grave.
"Are you the secret agent's friend?" The surgeon asked quietly.
"Yes, I am. how is he, Surgeon?" Penfold questioned in concern
"I have very good news, good, bad, and very bad news. which one you would like to hear first?" The surgeon asked Penfold.
"Very good and good news first" Penfold answered shakily.
"The very good news is he's in no longer in critical condition. the good news we managed to stop the bleeding internally." The surgeon answered.
"What's the bad news?" Penfold asked in concern.
"The bad news that he's unconscious at the moment from exhaustion, cardiac arrest and blood loss. the very bad news is he's in very very deep coma from cardiac arrest and blood loss. we intubated him to breathe easily too." The surgeon answered.
Penfold felt a wave of shock, concern and scare wash over him. he was about to cry about his friend but at the bright side, he's no longer in a critical condition, but he's concerned about his blood loss and cardiac arrest during the surgery.
"C-Can I s-see him?" Penfold asked in the choke of tears.
"Yes, you can see him but be aware that he's very exhausted and he wants a lot of quiet rest, understood?" The surgeon answered gently.
"Understood." Penfold replied.
"He's in the ICU. I'll get you there." The surgeon followed DM's room.
Once the entered the ICU room of DM, the look was like a punch in the gut.
DM was hooked up to cables, tubes, blood tubes, ventilator, heart monitor and wires. he looked so pale and awful. his bare chest covered with cables and wires, and a medical eyepatch on his eye. he was unconscious at the moment.
"Chief... you don't deserve to be here..." Penfold sat on the chair at DM's bedside.
He was holding his cold, limp hand in concern, clutching it tightly. he was sobbing quietly because of losing him.
Losing his own hero and best friend.
