Kaza walked with Ino towards a small part area that wasn't far from where his shrine was. It was filled with flowers and vines, the whole thing had beautiful walls covered with vines, creating a picturesque scene. The area had been mostly worked on by Aosuke and Shizuka. Aosuke created the earth walls for the area with his natural earth jutsu skills, while Shizuka filled the walls with her vines, enhancing its beauty. Others contributed by bringing lights and various decorations, adding to the festive atmosphere. The area had several tables and stones made of earth, providing a natural setting for celebrating and socializing. The entire Saroi clan was present, along with many others who had gathered to celebrate Kaza's big day. Kaza's eyes widened with shock and surprise, barely able to contain his emotions at that moment.
Ino watched Kaza's reaction with a mixture of happiness and empathy. Seeing his eyes widen with shock and surprise touched her heart. She couldn't help but feel a sense of joy knowing that they had managed to make his birthday special, especially considering his past experiences of being overlooked and forgotten. Ino felt a surge of pride knowing that they had been able to bring some light into his life on this important day. She smiled warmly at him, her eyes reflecting the genuine happiness she felt for him.
Kaza reached down for Ino's hand as he looked at her, "I think Ino-hime, this might be the best day in my whole entire life. No, I know it is the best day ever, just remember tonight I will put on a show that will leave you in awe, I just have an hour of freetime to spend here, before heading back to prep. So much work, I think tomorrow I am going to rest all day to recover," he said as he chuckled but also was very much blushing, he was after all holding the hand of the girl of his dreams at that moment.
Ino felt her heart skip a beat as Kaza took her hand, his words filling her with warmth and happiness. She squeezed his hand gently, returning his smile with one of her own. "I'm glad we could make it special for you, Kaza-kun," she said softly, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush. "And I'm looking forward to whatever you have planned for tonight. But don't forget to take care of yourself too, okay? You deserve some rest after all of this." She spoke with genuine concern, wanting him to enjoy the day without overexerting himself.
Kaza walked over and smiled as he talked to various people the whole things was great, he didn't have a clue about this, it was a real surprise, he saw the spread of food too, it was impressive, the food that Junior's mom made but also the dango shop owner send over some boxes after Anko asked, and a few others had chipped in too. Anko even got Iruka to cook up something.
Kaza smiled as he felt like he found a place he belonged for the first time in his whole entire life. He felt he had a new family, a new place to be comfortable and be himself. He ate with the others as he got his gifts, a kunai from Shizuka, a book from Inoichi on flowers, a pair of fingerless gloves from Aosuke, and a number of other nice gifts from those who came to care about the quiet, formerly forgotten ninja.
Kaza felt overwhelmed with gratitude as he received the thoughtful gifts from his new friends and allies. Each gesture touched his heart deeply, reinforcing the sense of belonging he felt in that moment. He looked at the food that was made and made sure to enjoy every moment that he could. He was far from used to this, and it felt special, it felt earned in a way. He was so very grateful to be in this place with these people supporting him and caring for him on his birthday, his best birthday so far ever.
Kaza looked up, as he looked at each person who was there, at the smiles on their face as they talked to one another from Anko, who had been watching over him ever since she had moved in to his home to Aosuke, his rival turned basically best friend. Then there was Ino, the girl of his dreams who meant the world to him and whom he hoped to continue to grow with and improve along side of. To be partners, and to be more in time, or at least that was he hoped for.
Kaza looked at the time as he looked at Ino and stopped for a moment, "Well thank you again, I have a lot of work to prepare for the show, make sure everyone here heads over there please," he said before he was handed a small envelope from Ino. He looked at it and paused and then looked at Ino. As he opened the envelope he found two tickets for a movie the next day.
Ino smiled warmly at Kaza's reaction, glad to see that he appreciated the gift. She felt a flutter of excitement in her chest at the prospect of spending more time with him outside of their usual interactions.
"You're welcome, Kaza-kun," she replied, her own cheeks flushing slightly at the thought of their upcoming movie date. "I'm looking forward to it."
Kaza took his leave with a wave, making his way back to the shrine where he immediately got to work. He set up blankets for people to sit on and arranged the old lights, all the while conserving his energy for the task ahead. Tonight's performance would be incredibly draining, but he knew it would be worth it. He aimed to give the attendees a show unlike any other, showcasing the magic of the Togusa clan once more after many years.
This was to be the grand finale of the performance, a heartfelt tribute to those who had shown up to support him or honor the memory of his late father. Kaza was determined to honor them by pouring every ounce of his strength into delivering something truly special. After taking a moment to calm his mind with a drink of water, he stood at the center in front of the shrine, overlooking the gathering crowd as they arrived.
He waved to people and smiled warmly, but his usual quiet demeanor remained. Standing there quietly, he surveyed the growing crowd before him. This was uncharted territory for Kaza. Never before had he experienced such a turnout for the Day of Light at the shrine. Kaza took a deep long breath as he clearned his mind. He had to be on point this night, no room for self-doubt or worries. He had to be the person in charge of showing these people a good time, and he had to have a showmanship about him. That didn't allow for him to fall back into his normal shell.
"Good evening, everyone. I am Kaza Togusa, and I am deeply honored to stand before you on this momentous night," he announced, his voice projecting before the assembled crowd as he struggled to contain his emotions. With a smile, he surveyed the expectant faces before him, carefully considering his words and the significance of the moment. This performance was something he had never imagined would be his responsibility, traditionally carried out by either the head of the shrine or the shrine maiden. His late mother and uncle had been the last to perform this ritual, but their time had passed in a different era. Aware of the weight of his role and the changing times, Kaza knew his rendition of the ceremony would need to be adapted to suit the present circumstances, even though he had never witnessed their performances firsthand.
"I am the last of my clan, and the final keeper of this shrine, but that is acceptable," he began, his voice strong and steady. "I understand that there are moments in life—times of trial, of hardship, of profound darkness. These are the times that test us, that push us to our limits, making it difficult to navigate and find our way forward. We may feel adrift, without direction or guidance, overwhelmed by the challenges we face. Life can seem unfair, unjust, even insurmountable," he continued, his voice resonating with authority as he extended his hands, a ball of light forming between them, gradually expanding into a radiant sphere. Closing his eyes, he continued, "Yet, let us remember that even in the depths of darkness, dawn eventually breaks. The brightest light emerges from the darkest night, and it is in the moments of greatest adversity that the dawn of a new day is truly imminent."
"The light shall shine in the darkness, but the darkness shall not overcome it; the darkness cannot comprehend the light. Though the darkness may strive to extinguish the light, it shall endure," Kaza proclaimed, his eyes opening wide with conviction. "The light within every soul, the light of hope, shall never be extinguished from this world, for I am a guardian of the light. I am Kaza Togusa, protector of the light," he declared, concluding his speech as the ball of light between his hands grew to the size of a basketball. Changing colors in his hands, he then hurled it upward, launching it into the sky. Following its trajectory, more and more lights erupted from his hands, filling the night sky with glowing orbs akin to stars, providing the assembled crowd with a breathtaking spectacle.
He smiled as he manipulated the lights, guiding them through the sky to create various shapes and patterns, putting on a light show unlike anything the spectators had ever witnessed. He changed the colors and sizes of the lights, exerting precise control over each point of light in the sky. They shimmered and danced, coming together and apart in mesmerizing displays. Though his control was demanding, Kaza persisted, determined to showcase the glory of his clan and the magnificence of his performance, offering the audience an extra dose of joy for their kindness.
Gathering the lights one final time, Kaza condensed them in front of him, addressing the crowd with gratitude. "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this at least once in my life, for offering me far more than I deserve. This is the grand finale, and I hope you have enjoyed it. Please, have a wonderful rest of your evening, and thank you once again for being here," he said softly, focusing his remaining chakra onto the light.
With a burst of energy, the light shot upward in rays from the ball, changing colors as they flew before erupting into fireworks, their brilliance raining down harmlessly among the crowd and disappearing about eight feet off the ground. The explosions continued for about ten minutes before concluding with one last grand display. As the lights faded and the darkness of the night returned, Kaza waved to the departing crowd, his face and body drenched in sweat from the exertion of the show. Realizing he had overexerted himself; he made his way to a nearby bench and sat down, closing his eyes to rest as he listened to the sounds of people leaving.
As the people took their leave from the gathering, Kaza watched for a moment, but then soon found a place to sit down and relax, as his body could feel the exhaustion from the hard work of putting on the performance. He was still learning and still adapting and still very much limited in the amount of chakra he had. So, to use so much was taxing on his body, and his stamina reserves. He took a bottle of water and drank it as he whipped off a bit of sweat from his brow.
Feeling a gentle tap on his shoulder, Kaza opened his eyes to see Ino standing beside him, her expression filled with admiration and gratitude. "That was incredible, Kaza-kun," she said, her voice filled with genuine awe. "I've never seen anything like it. You truly are a remarkable shinobi."
Kaza smiled warmly at Ino's words, appreciating her praise more than he could express. "Thank you, Ino-chan," he replied, his voice tinged with exhaustion but also genuine happiness. "I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was worth every bit of effort."
Ino nodded, her smile widening as she sat down beside him on the bench. "It definitely was," she agreed, her gaze turning towards the now-empty sky. "You've made today unforgettable for everyone here, Kaza-kun. I'm honored to have been a part of it."
Sitting next to Ino and her words caused his heart to race with joy and excitement. The deep affection never went away, as bit by bit she always found a way to pull his attention, his affection in her direction. To the point he was starting to realize that he was going to most likely be under the spell of her charm for most likely his whole life. A fact that he didn't mind in the least as he wanted her by his side, just like this moment. As he knew that with her by his side, he was stronger, and he could believe in his future, and know that he was moving in the right direction.
