AL-HASEEB / AL-HASIB (The Reckoner)

Surah An-Nisa (4:86): "When you are greeted with a greeting, greet in return with what is better than it, or (at least) return it equally. Indeed, Allah is ever, over all things, an Accountant."

"And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant."— (Qur'an 21:47)

Reflection:

From this attribute of Allah سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ we can learn not to undermine any act of good. There is no deed too small. Any chance to do good should be taken with utmost urgency because, on the day of reckoning, we would wish to have a chance to replay those moments and do things differently. So this name reminds us not to waste a moment to do good and go the extra mile because most people won't. Be an extraordinary individual, always looking and observing to find a way to help people. Don't squander your time on earth as 'The Accountant' is watching how you spend the greatest capital of all, which is your time.

Recognizing Allah as Al-Hasib encourages personal accountability and ethical behavior, promoting justice and integrity in society. It also instills hope and patience, assuring believers that ultimate justice will be served, thereby fostering self-improvement and community support.

The girl opened her eyes, revealing her rare violet irises—a trait deemed perfect in the realm of genetic engineering. However, this trait rendered her an outcast, labeled as a monster wherever she went, without understanding why.

As she surveyed the white walls around her, she realized she had yet to be released from her container. Suddenly, she noticed strands of ivory hair floating around her, and realized it was her own, though she distinctly remembered having short raven hair.

Before she could further analyze her situation, footsteps approached the door. She quickly pretended to be unconscious.

The footsteps stopped right in front of her enclosure, and she slightly opened her eyes, recognizing the person she was tasked to kill before her capture.

Emi Hanabira, the youngest daughter of the prestigious Hanabira family, had a childhood filled with indulgence and pampering. As the baby of the family, she was doted upon, but this attention quickly turned sour as her mischievous antics grew tiresome. Her pranks and unruly behavior, once endearing, became a source of irritation, leading her family to gradually ignore her. Her parents and relatives, once doting and attentive, began to lose patience, leaving Emi feeling isolated and overlooked in her own home.

Emi's sense of inferiority was compounded by constant comparisons to her older sister, Nobuyuki. Nobuyuki was everything Emi was not: disciplined, brilliant, and admired by everyone. She excelled in academics, athletics, and social grace, embodying the perfect daughter in the eyes of their parents. Emi, on the other hand, struggled to keep up, her natural talents overshadowed by Nobuyuki's accomplishments. The incessant comparisons chipped away at Emi's self-esteem, making her feel inadequate and unworthy of praise or recognition.

Living in Nobuyuki's shadow became Emi's painful reality. Every success of her sister was a reminder of her own perceived failures. This dynamic fostered a deep-seated inferiority complex within Emi, causing her to retreat further into herself. Her mischief was a desperate cry for attention, a way to carve out her own identity in a family that seemed to have room for only one star. Yet, no matter what she did, Emi felt invisible, her worth obscured by the brilliance of her sister, Nobuyuki.

Emi stared at the street rat performing her drills while the other Shinigami in their squad admired her. The girl was so arrogant that she didn't spare anyone a glance or even acknowledge their presence, which only made Emi feel more irritated.

"How is it that they fawn over someone who couldn't care less about their attention?" Emi thought resentfully, the girl's arrogance reminding her painfully of Nobuyuki. Suddenly, she recalled her older sister's words.

"You will never amount to anything. So why don't you behave and do as I say?" Nobuyuki's voice echoed in her mind, a harsh reminder from when Emi was very young and first felt truly intimidated.

Just then, Lieutenant Shiba Kaien approached Rukia and assigned her the task of welcoming the new recruits and briefing them. Emi felt a surge of resentment, sensing clear favoritism towards the unranked newcomer.

"Pardon, Shiba-fukutaicho, but isn't that a task that should be mine?" Emi's voice wavered between calm and angry, frustrated at being overshadowed by a streetrat who was only notable for being adopted into the prestigious Kuchiki clan.

Kaien looked at her, surprised by the outburst. He had noticed her recent hostility towards Rukia and her questioning of his orders. While welcoming new recruits was typically delegated to lower-ranked officers, he, as vice-captain, had the authority to assign it as he saw fit.

"If you insist, I want to challenge her to a duel," Emi blurted out, noticing Kaien's silence and fearing she had overreacted. She mentally berated herself, knowing that the Shibas, with their royal lineage, were far superior to her own clan.

Kaien turned to Rukia, his expression serious. "Rukia, do you accept the challenge?"

Rukia stepped forward and faced Emi, her expression resolute. "I accept Hanabira-dono."

Soon after, a fight broke out between Kuchiki Rukia, an unranked Shinigami of Squad 13, and Emi Hanabira. Emi's friends watched with concern, aware of the mounting pressure she faced—her sister had been named the official heir to the Hanabira clan while she was being married off to a lesser noble.

After praying Salat al-Fajr, Rukia recited the Dua against the evil eye, Surah Al-Falaq:

Bismillah hir Rahman nir Raheem*

(In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.)

Qul a'oozu bi rabbil-falaq*

(Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak")

Min sharri maa khalaq*

(From the evil of that which He created)

Wa min sharri ghaasiqin izaa waqab*

(And from the evil of darkness when it settles)

Wa min sharrin-naffaa-saati fil 'uqad*

(And from the evil of the blowers in knots)

Wa min sharri haasidin izaa hasad*

(And from the evil of an envier when he envies.")

She then promptly exited the Kurosaki residence and went to Urahara Kisuke's hideout/shop. Rukia decided to help Ichigo manage both his school and Shinigami duties simultaneously. Although she still lacked her powers to fully assist him, she hoped to ease his burden as much as she could.

Unbeknownst to her, Ichigo had been knocking on her "room" door with plates of food for his unexpected guest.

Izuru Kira was on his way to Squad 6 when he saw Captain Kuchiki. He couldn't help but notice how intimidating the captain looked and secretly wondered how his friend Renji would manage to overcome such an obstacle.

Suddenly, he recalled his disgruntled friend after a night of drinking. They were supposed to celebrate Abarai's admission to Squad 5 as a ranked officer, but instead, Renji spent the night grumbling about the Kuchiki clan and how he missed Rukia.

Their drinking buddy Ikkaku had advised Renji to forget about her, but as always, their stubborn friend refused to listen to reason.

"Assalamualaikum, Kuchiki-taichou" Izuru greeted the captain.

Byakuya looked at the squad 3 lieutenant and greeted back. "Wassalamu alaykom wa rahmatalli wa barakatu"

Rukia fought Emi Hanabira with remarkable skill, her blade moving with precise, fluid motions that left Emi's squad members in stunned silence. With each clash of their swords, Rukia's technique was flawless, her strikes sharp and controlled, and her defense impenetrable. Finally, after a swift and decisive maneuver, Rukia disarmed Emi and won the match. She bowed politely to her opponent, acknowledging the effort Emi had put into the duel.

Emi, staring at the hand Rukia offered, felt a complex mix of emotions. Torn between humiliation and the desire to accept defeat with dignity, she hesitated. Despite her impulsive nature, a spark of admiration ignited within her. For the first time, she saw a reflection of herself in Rukia—a kindred spirit bound by loneliness. During their fight, Emi had sensed through their clashing swords that Rukia, despite her outward confidence, was as isolated as she felt.

With newfound respect, Emi accepted Rukia's hand, as if it were her own hand reaching out to her. "Thank you for the great match, Kuchiki," she said, her slight smile surprising her friends.

Rukia returned the smile, her heart feeling lighter after expressing her emotions through the fight.

Lieutenant Kaien and Ukitake approached, offering congratulations to both fighters. Byakuya, arriving at Squad 13 just in time to witness the scene, felt a surge of pride. Rukia had demonstrated the grace and skill of a true Kuchiki, upholding the honor of her family in the heat of battle.
