No One's POV
Flashback
Trish Stratus drummed her manicured nails against the metal surface of the table impatiently. Her day was going so great until two police officers came knocking and requested, no they demanded, her presence at this dump. It was a thirty-minute drive to this hellhole. No window, bland walls and a wall of glass for the other officers to stalk her from afar. She had better things to do. What the hell is going on? The concrete door slowly creaked open which got the brunette to look over. She watched as a lone female officer walked into the room. Someone that Trish had never seen to her knowledge before. The woman placed a folder of files down on the table and made her intentions known. "Miss Patricia Stratus, I'm Officer Spruill, I'll be the one asking you the mandatory questions revolving around this case."
'Case?' It was the only word that remained in her mind, watching the woman with jet black hair take her seat on the opposite side of the table. "There better be a good reason for dragging me down to this station, someone better have died or something!" Stratus raised her voice slightly, annoyed that she's already been confined to this tiny room for about an hour now. What could they possibly want with her now! She's already paid the fucking fine for violating her restraining order. That paper was complete and utter bullshit to her, Mickie was her soulmate. That's what they were and now she discovered that some hussie was getting in the way of that. Officer Spruill remained completely silent, her blank expression telling the entire story. She couldn't help but snicker with a smile. "Oh, that's rich! Tell me who it is."
Daffney watched the woman grin with a stern gaze, she's never dealt with Patricia Stratus personally before but even from these few seconds with her; she could tell there were several screws loose. She released a sigh and opened the file on the table. "Someone is awfully cheery about being a potential suspect in a murder investigation. A couple days ago, a murder took place at a house that's very familiar to you, the address is 831 Rosew-"
The police officer was abruptly cut off by Trish slamming her palms against the table. "My baby's house! Please tell me that it isn't my Mick Mick! I would never hurt a hair on her perfect head, but I'll kill a fucker if they attempt to hurt her!" The brunette's mind was frantically spinning in circles the second the number 831 was spoken; she knew instantly who's house that was. Her breath hitched, and her hands visibly started trembling. Stratus felt her eyes beginning to water, her hand was quick to wipe them. 'No! No! Why is this bitch not saying anything else?' Daffney studied the reaction of the brunette carefully for about a minute, all the signs were showing a clearly distraught woman. "Stop stalling, tell me that Mick Mick is okay!" Trish shouted, demanding an answer from the woman in uniform.
"Miss James is safe and sound." Daffney reassured the panicking woman, Trish slumped back in the chair relieved. She breathed out a deep breath, her hand on her chest. "The victim was someone else that was at the residence at the time, your relationship with the victim has been described as uneasy and tense." Trish's eyes focused back on Officer Spruill, a slight hint of shock but mostly, they gave the police officer a bit of unease. Was this woman flipping a switch on her emotions? Not even thirty seconds ago, this woman was a trembling, almost crying mess and now, she's wrapped in her own euphoria. "The victim is Maria Kanellis-Bennett."
Not even five seconds after those words left Daffney did a laughter echo throughout the small room. "Hahaha! Oh, the bitch got her karma!" Trish was slumped forward in her seat, her arms wrapped around her stomach. The reaction managed to catch the raven-haired woman off guard for a second until she remembered some of the things that Katarina had warned her about Patricia Stratus. The belly laughing started to dissolve into more chuckles as the brunette sat herself back up straight. "Officer Spurill, I wish I could be more assistance, but you are looking at the wrong gal here." She cooed innocently, knowing now that she was here because they suspected her of doing the evil deed. Her teeth bearing grin was wide, showing all the joy she could have about the situation. What others describe as a tragedy; she would call a blessing. This was one of the best things someone has ever told her, she was going to relish in it for as long as humanly possible. The brunette was laughing so hard that tears managed to trickle out of the corners of her eyes. With a happy sigh, Trish wiped her eyes. "Oh, how I wish I would have been the one to do it. I'd like to find the killer and personally thank them."
"Your hatred for the victim isn't helping prove your innocence any, Miss Stratus."
Trish cocked her head childishly. "I already know that I'm innocent, but if I was the one to murder one of Mick Mick's friends, it wouldn't have been that useless cunt." The suspect shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly as if she hadn't previously thought about murdering an innocent person. This baffled Daffney. "She was all talk and no action. No, IF I was the one to have slain that bitch, I'd save her for later. I would have taken my time with her. No first on my list would have been that fucking security guard. Daisy is a thorn in my side and if I had murderous intent, she'd be my first victim." The brunette let out a more sinister cackle compared to before, Trish extended her arm toward the police officer. Her index finger sideways pointing, and her thumb was straight up to symbolize a gun. Stratus pointed to the head of Daffney, flicking her hand backwards to symbolize a gunshot. "Bang." Daffney noticed how Stratus's expression remained cheerful despite talking about such a morbid topic. She's literally telling the police officer who she would kill and how the brunette would carry the heinous action out. "Isn't the trope in horror movies that you want to take out the strongest threat first if there isn't a friend of color? Yeah, this killer doesn't understand that." She ended with a chuckle as she started to swivel her chair side to side.
"For someone that doesn't have murderous intent, you have at least thought about who of Miss James's friends would be your first victim." What rational human being would take the time to actually think about something like this? Down to how she'd kill them, does she have a mental list of the order in which she'd carried out these murders? Daffney wasn't sure.
"Hell yeah! Especially after the festival whenever that bitch had the audacity to slam me to the ground. I hope they go for her next! And then there's Mick Mick's new countryside trash that thinks she has a chance with my future wife. We are in love, and they are interfering with that!"
"I see. Are you aware that another murder took place at the festival?" Daffney wanted to shift the conversation away from which of Mickie's friends she would murder. She did take note about Trish's anger and hatred toward the security guard. Is that the potential next victim or is this lunatic not involved in any way, shape or form?
"Nope, absolutely clueless." Trish stated, voided any emotion in her voice but the wide grin on her face still remained. The brunette proceeded to spin around in her chair while the police officer stared bewildered at this bizarre behavior. Daffney shook her head and decided not to demand Trish to cease her actions; Spruill wanted to study her behavior further and not dictate the actions.
The raven-haired police officer nodded her head as Stratus proceeded to spin around a few more times in the chair. A photo of the young victim was placed on the steel surface. "The victim's name is Toni Storm; does she look familiar to you?"
Trish let out a huff as her hands grabbed onto the table to cease her fun. The spinning stopped and the brunette cocked her head staring at the photo of the blonde woman. A finger tapped against her chin a couple times until she shrugged her shoulders. "Nah, never seen her before in my life."
Spruill nodded her head once again, placing another photo out of the folder and in front of their only suspect at the moment. "Okay. Now I'll show you the last photo in her phone and see if that helps refresh your memory."
Trish's eyes brightened upon seeing her 'soulmate' in the photo, the beautiful smile was something that she missed so much. Stratus wanted nothing more than to be by Mickie's side at this very moment, but all those so-called friends are preventing that from happening. She hated them all. She tolerated them for Mickie's sake. The blonde wasn't someone the suspect recognized at all. "Was she a friend of Mickie's? Damn, was she the body that fell from the banner? Haha, I wish I could have seen her go SPLAT!" The last two sentences were spoken with way too much enthusiasm which would rightfully make any normal person uncomfortable. Trish's hand mimicked the body falling onto the stage, smacking it onto the table with a laugh.
Daffney was faced with the first contradicting statement of this interview. According to Daisy and Mickie's retelling of the encounter with Trish Stratus at the festival, she showed herself in the middle of Elias's performance. And the situation was quickly dissolved, Trish supposedly fled the festival afterwards. If the brunette left the CMA completely, how would she know exactly how the body was revealed to the audience. "I thought you didn't know about the murder; how do you know about the banner?"
"Duh. It's all over the internet." Stratus shrugged her shoulders. Daffney let out a small sigh, knowing that the brunette was correct with that statement. Numerous reports have been about the incident especially since it transpired during a major yearly event here in Nashville. This answer isn't far-fetched at all. "Are we done yet? I'm getting bored and I need to go celebrate."
'Celebrate? That's so fucked. I have nothing to detain her here for longer, but nothing stands out at the moment besides having several screws loose and the obsession with Mickie.' Daffney placed the photos back into the file and closed it up. The last thing she wanted to ask pertained to her alibi. There were several things that actually pointed to Trish's innocence to being the murderer herself if anything. The main thing being the fact that the murderer was taller than Maria, the brunette is a few inches shorter than Kanellis. The boots might make them equal height but taller was a stretch. She still wanted to confirm all the information she could. "Where were you last night from five-thirty until seven?"
"Work. I clocked in at four and didn't leave until eleven-thirty. So boop, I'm innocent and you have nothing to keep me here." Fighting back a sigh, Daffney knew that Stratus was correct and all it would take to prove it is a simple phone call to her employment. This condescending tone was getting one the police officer's last nerve. She knew that if Katarina interrogated her that her partner wouldn't let any of the disrespect stand. Both women stood from their seats as a male police officer entered the room. "I'm glad I came here, Officer Spruill, please invite me back if any of Mick Mick's friends die. I'd love to dance on their graves."
"Don't think about violating your restraining order again and behave yourself, Miss Stratus."
"You are wasting your time with me, Officer. The real killer is out there lurking about. I'm not a very patient person so I hope they move fast. As long as they don't touch a hair on Mickie's head, I'll be happy to cheer in their corner. Tootles!" Trish gave a friendly wave to Daffney before practically skipping out of the room, that wide smile still present on her face. The raven-haired woman took a couple deep breaths and grabbed her folder. Again, nothing useful was presenting itself and they were back to square one once again. This killer was playing them for fools but like Katarina, she feels like one of Mickie's friends is lying to their face about what they know. Maria had limited knowledge about the killer. Who is to say that the Devil's Advocate didn't approach another and threatened them into silence? The main question was, who was it if their theory was true?
Gabi's POV
The sound of the rooster cawing woke me up from my deep slumber. There was a small ray of sunrise peeking from the window which burned my eyes. I groaned, squeezing my eyes shut as my head pounded terribly, causing my stomach to churn. Ugh, and this is why I never drink alcohol. Maybe I can sleep in today. I'm sure Blaire will be fine feeding the animals by herself for one day. Closing my eyes again, I settled back into bed, hoping I could fall asleep again. There was the sound of rustling beside me before a limb flew from nowhere, hitting me in the face. A strangled cry escaped my mouth as my hands flew up to cup my nose, which was just brutally assaulted. What the fuck?! Was that Blaire? Did she sneak into my room last night? The sound of snoring told me otherwise. Who is in my bed right now? Turning around abruptly, I came face to face with a drooling Latina. Next to me was Sarita, who I had totally forgotten was now staying with me, Blaire and Mickie, as we all buddied up for safety. The snoring Latina was deep in sleep, her hair sticking up in every direction. She let out a grunt as she turned over, her arm swinging around to hold me, her head nuzzling into my armpit. I blushed as her hand brushed over my midriff. Freezing at her sudden closeness, I didn't know what to do.
"Ay Mami, I love it when you glare at me with those gorgeous chocolate eyes." She mumbled in her sleep, her breath feeling warm against my neck. I felt my face redden as butterflies rumbled in my stomach. Was she talking about me? No, it can't be. Brown eyes are so common. She must be dreaming about someone special. Although I can't imagine how special this person is if she likes riling them up enough to glare at her. This chick is one kinky bitch. With slow and subtle movements, I went to grab her hand which was wrapped around me and untrap myself from her grip. She grumbled at the sudden touch, and turned over again, finally letting me go. I breathed a sigh of relief, finally getting up from bed. My head spun, as I stood. I swear, I'm swearing off alcohol for good. Never again! There was a subtle knock on the door, a small blonde opened the door, and peaked in.
"Good morning, Gabi!" Blaire whispered excitedly. Her gaze went towards the brunette who was currently snoring again in my bed before looking back to me and wiggling her eyebrows. "So how was your sleep over last night? Did you guys get into naughty fun?" She teased suggestively to which I gave her a deadpanned look.
"No Blaire. We did not get into naughty fun. Although, I do think she is having some naughty dreams. She was going on about how she loves it when this girl glares at her or something. Which is definitely not what I needed to wake up to this morning." I grumbled, my head pounding again.
"Aww don't be such a sourpuss, Gabi. I'm just teasing! You look a little rough though. I'll start some breakfast for everybody while you get sleepyhead, over there, up." Blaire said before shutting the door again. I looked at my new roommate wondering if I should chuck a pillow at her to wake her up. Deciding against that, I sighed before gently nudging her shoulder calling her name.
"Sare, get up. It's time to feed the animals." I said, reminding her of the new daily chore she unknowingly signed up for. She groaned in response, before turning away from me. I tried nudging her again, more forcefully before ripping the blankets off. The Latina gave one last violent snore before jolting up.
"Huh? What? Why is it so cold in here?" Sarita asked, disoriented. I was glad to see she was wearing clothes this time. My mind flashed to the last time we woke up together, where her tits fell out of their bikini top and I felt my face becoming red. Clearing my throat, I tried to shake the memory away. "It's time to get up. We've got a lot to do today, so let's get some breakfast. Blaire's already getting it started." I said, opening the door, trying to coax the groggy Latina out of bed. The smell of freshly cooked bacon wafted through the door, perking Sarita up.
"But it's sooo earlyyyy." Sarita whined, trying to hide with a pillow. I chuckled at her antics. I was used to the Latina being loud and flirty but who knew she was so childlike in the morning?
"You'll get used to it." I said, teasingly. Approaching the sleepy brunette, I reached for her hand, gently tugging her to get out of bed. Her hand felt rough in mine, which oddly surprised me. I always thought mine were pretty tough, especially with all this farm work. They felt nice though. Strong.
Sarita finally allowed me to get her out of bed. Taking her hand, I led her out to the kitchen where the scent of bacon, eggs and waffles wafted in the air. At the smell of food. Sarita perked up.
"Mmmm, que deliciosa! (how delicious) That smells amazing. I didn't know short blondie over there could cook." Sarita said, practically salivating at the sight of food.
"Well, I'll have you know that I can definitely cook, and I'm an even better baker!" Blaire retorted, pretending to be offended. I couldn't help but smile at her reaction. People tend to underestimate Blaire, but one thing she was definitely good at was cooking and baking. Blaire flipped the eggs and then pointed towards the table.
"Y'all can go ahead and sit down. I'll be done with these in a few." She said, motioning towards the table. The Latina happily obliged, looking very excited for the food. I looked towards the kitchen, eyeing the cabinet where I kept all my teas. I should help out too.
"I'll go ahead and get some tea started. Anyone want some tea or coffee?" I asked, grabbing some of my usual morning jasmine green tea. B normally drank tea with me, so I grabbed two servings.
"I'll definitely need some coffee. I'm still trying to wake up, farm girl." Sarita said grumpily. I rolled my eyes at her nickname but started making her coffee as well. Blaire finished cooking the food and served some to Sarita and me. Finishing up the drinks, I joined them at the table and started eating. "This is delicious! Isn't Mickers joining us for breakfast?" Sarita said, inhaling her food. Can you not vacuum it down? Blaire smiled cheekily at the compliment. Where was Mickie?
"Nah, Darling had a pretty rough night, so I let her get some extra sleep. I was actually just about to bring some food to her now and let her have a little breakfast in bed." B says, picking up a tray with food she made just for Mickie. I don't blame her, I would also let Mickie sleep in. It seems like Mickie is dealing with this all the hardest. I'm worried for her.
"Aww, you're so cute I could barf." Sarita teased; a wicked smile spread across her face. "Just kidding, but in all seriousness, I'm glad Mickie has someone like you by her side." She finished, before Blaire could protest. My best friend smiled sweetly, her face blushing a bit at the compliment.
"Thanks Sari! You're pretty sweet too. I'm glad Gabi has you to cuddle her at night." She said, my head whipped over to her direction. Oh no. Please don't provoke Sarita anymore.
"Ahhh, you like it when I cuddle you huh farm girl?" Sarita said, bending over the table to be closer to me. I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
"More like the opposite. I like it when I have my own bed." I muttered back. I mean, it was true. Between Blaire and Sarita, I'm either being hit in my sleep or groped. I can't remember the last time I had a restful night.
"Hahaha, I can see through your white lies. By the way, tell Perky over there to never call me Sari again." I smiled at that. Huh, I think I found my new pet name for her.
"Okay, Sari. Well, why don't we go ahead and get started with the farm work." I said teasingly. Sarita gave me a flabbergasted look. I ignored her as I started picking up the dishes and bringing them over to the sink
"Eh?! Right now?! Give me another hour to wake up." She moaned, folding herself to rest atop the kitchen table. I folded my arms, not budging despite her childish antics.
"No chance. You know the deal. You stay here, you help with the farm. Plus, I don't think the animals would like it much, if we didn't feed them on time." I responded looking over at the clock. If we fed the animals too late then I'm afraid they might protest.
"Animals? Do you have any cows? I wanna feed some cows." Sarita asked, perking up. I guess she wasn't that tired after all. I nodded my head.
"Yes, we do. Come follow me and I'll show you what to do."
A little bit later..
Sarita and I made our rounds around the farm, taking care of the animals. The first and her favorite so far were the cows. She had fun petting them and even tried to ride one, which they didn't like too much. But Sarita was surprisingly very good with animals. It warmed my heart to see how much she was having fun helping me with the farm. As we walked towards the last animal pen that needed to be tended, we spoke about life. She had just started telling me about what she was doing in California.
"So you went to California to live with your cousin?" I asked, wondering why she was planning on moving there.
"Yeah. My cousin had just gotten out of a serious relationship, and she needed help with her kid. But she and her boyfriend figured things out and are in therapy now together. I just hope that piece of shit treats her better now, or I'm gonna go back there and beat his ass. Plus-" She began to say but held back. I looked over at her curiously.
"Plus?" I asked, urging her to continue. "Well, there was this girl that I was dating long distance, and I wanted to try and see if it would work out. But there's been this new girl who popped into my life recently and I can't seem to get her out of my head." Sarita said, her gaze turning up to meet mine as she said the last part. My heart thundered in my chest at the sizzling eye contact, my face turning a bit red. I chided at myself at my reaction, turning my head away from her gaze. I mean, I wonder who that girl could be. Could it be that she was talking about me?
"And with everything going on here, I can't leave you guys alone. My friends need me here and you're the only one who is alone with us all pairing up." She finished. I felt as if I could breathe again. I see, so that's why she's here. She's just here to support all her friends. That girl she's talking about can't possibly be me.
"I see. So that's why you came back. I get you want to be here for Mickie and them, but I don't know if that was the smartest decision. There is a serial killer out there after all."
"But I can't leave you to fend for yourself, dummy." At her words, I turned to look at her again. Her face was close to mine. She had a serious look in her eyes, as she looked at mine. There was this sizzling tension that I've never felt before. It made it hard for me to look anywhere else. Why am I feeling this way? Sarita's face seemed to move closer to mine, and my breath stopped. Just as I was about to close my eyes. I heard a cheerful voice shouting our way.
"Oh, howdy guys! I see you guys made it to the chicken coop too!" Blaire shouted as she bounded our way, Mickie following close behind her. My heart pounded in my chest as Sarita, and I broke apart. The distance between us felt cooler now. What had just happened between us? Why had I closed my eyes? What are these feelings I feel in my stomach? Pulling myself together, I realized we had made it to the chicken coop during our conversation.
"Um, yeah." I said, clearing my voice. "We finished the rest of the animals, so I wanted to show Sari the chickens." I said, turning to look at Sarita. Her face seemed back to normal as if the conversation we had was a normal, lighthearted one.
"I'm glad to see you're out, Mickers. What do you think of the farm so far?" Sarita asked, turning my attention back to Mickie. She did seem better being outside. Her face had a little more life again.
"I actually really like it here. It's so peaceful and lively here that it takes my mind off of everything." The bronze brunette responded.
"So Darling, here's the chicken coop! You see that giant cock over there. He's the demon chicken." Blaire said, pointing at Alfonso, who ran up to us angrily. He started shouting at us for the food. Sarita laughed at the mention of cock. I swear, I am surrounded by idiotic children.
"Demon chicken?" Mickie asked innocently. Sarita immediately ran up to the chicken and bent over to the metal grate to look closer at him.
My best friend turned over to look at the brunette and gestured back over to the black rooster. "Yes, it's demonic! He attacks me every time I go in! He's filled with anger." Maybe if you weren't so wild and full of energy B, Alfonso wouldn't try to murder you every morning. But I never really try to explain that to her, after the first time, it gets repetitive. Plus, it's kind of funny to watch her struggle with him, don't tell her I said that.
"Oooo, I wanna feed the demon chicken. Let me in there!" Sarita shouted excitedly. Not only does this woman come back and want to stay after finding out a serial killer is out there, now she wants to chance fate with the 'demon chicken'. She's something else.
"You aren't afraid the chicken is gonna attack you?" I asked, looking at her incredulously. The longer we wait, the angrier Alfonso is going to get.
"Heh, I ain't afraid of no cock!" She said confidently, folding her arms across her chest. What followed was a snicker from both the Latina and my bestie. I fought back a scoff and rolled my eyes instead. About that remark regarding being surrounded by idiotic children. It's still true.
"Oookay. But don't say I didn't warn you."
"Um, SugarPlum. Are you sure it's okay for Sarita to go in alone? Why don't you go in and help her too just in case?" Mickie asked, showing worry for her friend..
"Uhhh, sure. I can go in. Unless Gabi you want to go instead?" Blaire asked worriedly. I chuckled at her reaction.
"Nah, you can go in, instead. I'm sure Mickie would like that." I said, raising an eyebrow at her. Blaire seemed to gain some strength at the sound it would make Mickie happy. My plan is working.
"Alrighty, here Sarita, I'll give you a bucket, you can come follow me." Blaire said, giving Sarita one of the two buckets with the chicken food.
I walked over to Mickie and bent over to whisper in her ear. "You're gonna love this." I said, preparing to watch the show before me. Mickie looked over at me confused but she turned over to watch attentively at the duo who were now opening to metal grate door to walk inside. As soon as the two had set foot inside the coop, Alfonso let out a battle cry, before starting to run their way. Blaire screeched, before throwing the bucket of food up.
"RUN!" She screamed before running away. Sarita stood there for two seconds, a look of pure horror spreading across her face before following suit. There was a chorus of screams as the two of them ran around the chicken coop, Alfonso chasing angrily. I couldn't help but immediately laugh at two grown women running around in circles getting chased by a rooster. What surprised me was the next sound I heard, it was someone else laughing about as much as I was. I looked over to see Mickie laughing hysterically, wrapping her arms around her stomach. The brunette crumbled down to the ground, tears running down her face as she gasped for breath. This is the first time I've heard her laugh in so long it feels like the only time she smiles is around Blaire. I was hoping something like this might cheer her up even if it's for a few seconds.
"HELP MEEE!" Sarita screamed trying to get a hold of Blaire, trying to throw her at the chicken.
"GABI, OPEN THE DOOR!" Blaire screamed as she ran towards the exit. I bounded over, opening the gate for dumb and dumber to run out, successfully escaping the chicken coop. They collapsed on the floor trying to catch their breath. Mickie was screaming out in laughter at what had just transpired.
I turned to look over at her. "I told you this would be good!" I chuckled, the singer nodded in agreement, wiping a stray happy tear away.
"You weren't kidding. That really is a demon cock! How do you deal with that, farm girl?" Sarita asked, finally sitting up from her place on the ground. I smiled mischievously before walking up to Alfonso and petting him. He cooed happily at the pets.
"Madre de dios! You didn't tell me he was nice with you! Why didn't you tell me this earlier?!"
"I thought you said you weren't afraid of no cocks? I asked teasingly, Sari gave me an offended scowl at the mocking. She'll get over it. "Plus it was fun to watch. I mean, look at Mickie, she loved it!" I said, turning over to Mickie, who was helping Blaire get up.
"You okay Darling?" She asked Blaire, who was all disheveled.
"Of course Sugar. Hearing you laugh makes everything better." Blaire said, fixing a stray hair from Mickie's face. Sarita pouted, crossing her arms, but after seeing Mickie happy again. She felt relieved.
I walked over to Sarita, extending my hand out to help her up. "Do you still like being a farmer after that?" I asked teasingly as she grabbed onto my hand and I helped pull her to her feet..
"I mean, I still do. Just maybe no more chickens for me from now on." She said glaring at Alfonso, who was now a happy rooster pecking at the feed that was tossed around. I chuckled. I don't blame her. "But I would kill for a cool shower right now. Can we go back to the house?" She asked, looking down at her dirty clothes. I nodded. A shower would be great.
"Hey guys, we are heading back to the house. Are you two heading home too?" I turned to Blaire and Mickie and asked. They looked at each other and Blaire asked Mickie a question before turning back to me.
"Not yet. We are gonna make one more stop before we meet you guys at home." I nodded. Sarita and I turned back to the house at their response and made our way back home.
Blaire's POV
Later in the evening..
After dinner, Darling went back into my bedroom, it made me frown. I didn't like that I couldn't keep her happy for more than a few minutes at a time. She has every right to be sad. No one can fault her for that. But I wish that there was something I can do to help ease her sadness some more. I wonder what I could do. Sarita was helping Gabi with the dishes while I cleaned off the counters. My bedroom door opened again, and Sugarplum came out of the room. "It's almost eight, that's whenever we do the video call, right?" My Darling spoke for the first time in a while.
Gabi and Sarita looked over to Mickie. "Hell yeah, break time and some drinks!" The Latina celebrated, like a kid in the candy store, she rushed over to the fridge to grab the bottle of Bootlegger.
My bestie shut the door before Sarita managed to grab the bottle causing the Latina to childishly pout. "Can you not think about booze for a second?" The blonde questioned as the other woman sighed in defeat. Sarita walked away from the fridge only to turn around and whip Gabi with the washrag. My bestie yelped, looking dumbfounded at Sari. "D-Did you just whip me?!"
"Yes I did farm girl, whatcha going to do about it?" Sarita teased, giving her a cocky little smirk. Gabrielle shrugged and walked back over to the sink. The Latina cackled but that didn't last long. Gabi grabbed the sink hose and sprayed Sari cheekily in the face. Mickie let out a laugh and I laughed too. Gabi has gotten feisty here recently! "Este no es el tipo de mojado que quería. (This is not the kind of wet I wanted.)" I have no idea what she said but she doesn't seem that upset about it. She wiped her face with a different washrag.
I shook my head and put my finger to my nose. "Nuh uh, noses goes. I'm not mopping that up." There's now a puddle on the floor and I already did all my chores today. I am spending some more time with SugarPlum. "Come on, Darling, let's go sit down." I smiled at Mickie, grabbing onto her hand and leading her over to the sofa.
"Why do I have to mop it up, you did it, farm girl?" Sarita whined.
Gabi chuckled and started walking over to the both of us. "You were the last one to put your finger on your nose. Hurry up slowpoke, it's almost eight." Mickie and I sat down on the couch, the brunette nuzzling into me as I wrapped an arm around her shoulder. Gabi plopped down to my left.
"Tienes suerte de estar tan caliente. (You're lucky you are so hot.)" Can someone translate for me because I'm so lost? I don't know what a tan has to do with anything.
I giggled at Sarita's frustrated grumbling as she grabbed the mop. Oh, silly goose, you shouldn't have lost the game, and you wouldn't have to mop the floor. I leaned over to my bestie. I really like the fiery personality she has been displaying whenever it comes to Sare. Whenever Sarita whipped her, I think I noticed a little bit of blush on her face. "So Gabi, did you like it?"
"Like what…?" She seemed confused by my question; I thought I was being pretty straight forward with what I was asking. I smirked, looking back over to the Latina that likes to flirt with Gabi a lot. I look back to my bestie, who shook her head. "B, you are ridiculous."
"You're blushing." My Darling quipped in, causing Gabi to reach up and touch her face. Mickie chuckled, causing Gabrielle to look back to her with a surprised face that quickly turned into an annoyed one. "Relax, just messing with you." I nuzzled into SugarPlum, it made me so happy that she is starting to joke around even if it's a little. Gabi looked a little flustered, turning away from Sarita. I chuckled at the two of them. It was fun to see this side of Gabi. I think Sarita is good for her. Darling squeezed my hand before moving towards the living room.
"Come on guys. I have my laptop set up in the living room. I want to check in on everybody." Darling said before leading me to the living room. Gabi followed us while Sarita cleaned up the floor, grumbling some words I didn't understand. I chuckled at how she listened to Gabi, not arguing back with her. Sugarplum grabbed her laptop and turned it on. As soon as she turned it on, we got a call from the girls. She answered and faced her laptop towards us.
"Right on time, hey girls!" Victoria said, excitedly waving at us. Daisy gave us a little wave and a small smile, but I noticed that her eyes looked over to my Darling. The raven-haired woman looked between the three of us. "There are my favorite cowgirls! Where's Sarita?"
"Mopping the floor because she lost at nose goes." I explained with a giggle as I heard the Latina scoff in the background. She's so silly. Don't hate the player, hate the game.
"Ah. Mickie, how are you doing?" The redhead asked Mickie.
"Alright, I guess. What about you two?"
Victoria responded. "We are making the best out of this situation... Or at least trying, oh there's trouble." Out of the corner of my eye, I sat Sarita making her way over to the couch. She had a bootlegger in her hand as Gabi rolled her eyes. Sarita smirked, sitting down next to my bestie.
She took a sip and glared at the screen. "Puta. I've been well-behaved today, thank you very much." That's the surprising part but she has been very helpful today tending to the animals. She even helped me escape that god damn demon chicken. Sarita leaned over, her attention really focusing on the laptop in front of us. "Where are Tryhard and Tessie?"
Wait a second, that's right, we are all supposed to be ready to receive the video call at exactly eight. It's what we all agreed on. Victoria's brows lowered as she looked over her fiancée, who sighed and shook her head. "..I don't know, they haven't answered yet."
"I'll invite them again." I could feel Darling's grip around my arm tighten as she watched as I sent the couple each an invite to the call. She's scared that something happened to them, and she has every right to worry. I don't want to think like that, maybe they are simply running late!
Daisy was constantly looking down at her phone and back at the screen. "...Fucking hell Chrissy, your girl is the ones that suggested this. They will show up." She said reassuringly but I feel like that was more directed at herself and Mickie, who was visibly showing her worry. Victoria tried to start small talk with us as we waited for Christy and Brooke to join the call. Mickie leaned against me, keeping her arms wrapped around mine as all I could do was reassure her that everything was fine. Daisy was the one that was starting to show how antsy this wait was getting to her. For someone that's normally composed, her face was the opposite, the redhead scoffed. "God damn it, I'm calling them."
The security guard let out a huff, standing up from the bed while putting the phone up to her ear. She must have been pacing around the room because Victoria's eyes were following her back and forth. Mickie's breathing was starting to become heavy as we could hear the swears of the redhead. I rubbed my hand across her thigh, trying to keep her calm. Finally, after a solid three minutes of Daisy calling both of their phones, another video feed popped up. "Oh my god, sorry ladies! Our internet has been shit since that storm the other day and Christina misplaced the laptop charger."
Both Christy and Brooke waved to all of us, as Daisy peeked back into view to glare at the screen. She looked furious as she plopped back down onto the bed. "Chrissy, what the fuck dude! You both had me worried sick; do you know how to answer your fucking phones!" She shouted angrily before looking back over to us, she noticed that Mickie was still coming down from her previous panic and sighed.
The older of the redheads cocked her head to the side, she seemed slightly confused about something Daisy had said. "Hm? Aw, Nikki, I didn't know you cared so much about little ol' me." She cooed to her cousin, who gave her a deadpan glare. I think it's sweet that families care so much for each other. She chuckled and shook her head. "Okay sorry, but you called us, we didn't get a single call. Did you babe?"
Brooke looked down to her phone, and Christy did the same to double check to make sure. "Hmm, no.."
"That's weird because she's been pacing around the room like a madwoman for the past three minutes calling you both. I'm surprised she didn't make a path on the carpet." Vic said with a small giggle, causing the redhead to shoot her lover a glare.
"Yeah, that's weird, because see," she leans closer to the video screen, holding up her phone to show off her call log. Yeah, that's definitely a lot of missed calls, maybe the hotel that they are at has bad cell service. I don't know. "I've been calling but that's not important now. You're safe and that's what matters to us."
"I love you too Nikki, you big softie." Despite being a big meanie whenever it came to me at the beginning, I can see how much Daisy cares about the people around her, even if she doesn't show it on the outside. The younger redhead scoffed, sitting back onto the bed beside Victoria. Christy shook her head and looked back over to us. "Anyways, my sexy Latina and cowgirls that need to give me riding lessons, how are you ladies doing tonight?"
"Apparently being born and raised in Houston isn't enough of a cowgirl to be certified to provide said lessons." Tessie let out a sigh and shrugged her shoulders.
All of us let out a little laugh at the brunette's response to Tryhard and her antics. Christy's so funny! I don't know why she would need all three of us for riding lessons, one teacher is enough. Gabi started talking about how our day started and how much of a hassle it was to wake Sarita up. I boasted about how I made some bomb ass bacon, eggs and waffles and brought it to her in bed. Mickie made me blush talking about how good the food was and makes me want to cook breakfast for her every morning.
After a couple minutes, the four of us managed to explain everything that had happened so far today. Gabi and Mickie really teased Sari and I for being chased by the evil fucking chicken. The others laughed too; it's not fair, he's an asshole. The sound of a phone ringing could be heard as we all looked to see if it was ours or someone else's. Victoria looked down at her phone, cocking her head to the side. "Oh, I'm getting a phone call, I don't recognize this number." She surprisingly answered the phone, even though I probably wouldn't have. Nuh uh, I never answer numbers that I don't know. "Hello?" The raven-haired said, as I noticed that Daisy immediately turned her head to look over at the phone. I can hear someone talking but it was very faint, and I couldn't make out any words. "Damn it's been a while hey Madison! Hang on, I'm putting you on speaker, I'm on the phone with the gang."
"Oh damn, did I interrupt something?" I heard a woman ask; she sounds like she's maybe from up North. Definitely doesn't have the southern drawl like a lot of us here have.
Madison. That name does ring a few bells, I remember Victoria talking about her at the engagement party. Wait, isn't that her ex-girlfriend? Oh. That explains why Daisy is looking over at that phone like she wants to pounce. She's really mad. "Yeah, kind of." The redhead stated matter of factly, I mean she's not wrong.
My Darling giggled with excitement. "Wow, it's been a while, Maddie. How are you doing?" She asked sweetly.
"I'm okay, I graduated last month from OSU and now I am a certified radiologist. I was thinking about moving back to Nashville because I miss my friends and family. I haven't gotten to see Vel, Angie or Lacey in over six months." I didn't know that you needed a college degree to work with a radio. Good for her! She sounds really nice. "...I wanted to call and check on you Vic and Mickie.. My mom told me about what happened.. I'm so sorry." Oh. She heard about what happened to Ria. I didn't want to mention anything about that because I don't know if Sugarplum is going to spiral again.
Victoria's glance immediately looked over to us and more specifically Mickie. Darling let out a silent sigh as I held onto her hand. She looked over to me and smiled. "Yeah, it's been rough for us, but I do appreciate you calling and checking up on us." Vic said sincerely.
"Thank you, Madison, and congrats on graduating, I know you are going to do great." Darling told Madison, if Mickie likes this woman, then I do too. Daisy was still glaring over at her lover's phone, remaining silent. I mean if an ex called my fiancée, I would be a little jealous too.
"Thank you, Mickie, listen, if you ladies need anything let me know." The breakup must have at least been on good terms for both of them to be able to communicate civilly. But I mean, Victoria didn't have her number said so I don't know. I guess Maddie got a new phone. "Also, Vic, I heard you got engaged, is that true?"
"Fuck yeah it is! I had everything planned out for months and I'm the happiest woman on the planet." Hearing all the love and excitement from Vic made me feel all mushy inside, it's how I feel about Darling. She makes me so happy and is really a dream come true. A one in a million chance fell into my lap, I'm making the most of every second.
"Aw, that's cute! Who's the lucky lady? Have I met her before?" Wait, does she not have any idea about Victoria and Daisy dating at all? And they have been together for over three years, do they really not talk that often? Maybe the subject never came up, but she did seem genuinely super-duper happy about her ex-girlfriend in a healthy relationship.
Daisy and Victoria gave each other a loving gaze before the redhead responded. "Me. Madison. I'm her fiancée."
There was a small gasp on the other line and an awkward little string silence happened. It lasted for about thirty seconds. Was she surprised at this? "Oh wow.. That's the development I didn't expect." Madison spoke again but you can tell that she felt awkward about the whole thing. "Congrats. I'm sorry for interrupting. I'll call a different day to catch up." Did hearing that Daisy was Vic's soon to be wife make her uncomfortable?
"Sounds good, see ya!" Vic said cheerfully.
"Bye Madison!"
The rest of the video call went without any further interruptions, and it was nice to see everyone in brighter spirits compared to before. I'd love hearing all the laughs and seeing all the smiles especially from Darling. She's finally starting to act like herself again. The call lasted about thirty minutes, and we all said our goodbyes. Gabi went back into her bedroom; I imagine that she'll be going to sleep soon since we have to get up early tomorrow too. Sarita was drinking the bottle of bootlegger she snagged, lounging in the loveseat watching the tv. Darling closed her laptop and started heading back to my room. I followed behind her. I didn't want her to feel sad and feel the need to hide away in here all the time, but I also want her to be comfy too. Mickie put the laptop back into her bag and set it over in the corner of the room. It's still early enough and the sky is nice and clear, maybe Mickie could use some more fresh air. "Hey Darling. I have an idea."
"What is it, SugarPlum?" She asked, those beautiful eyes of hers looking back to me. The loving sparkle was enough to make the butterflies in my stomach flutter.
"It's really pretty outside tonight, wanna go stargazing with me?" As much as I know that we should always stay together, I am longing for more of the outdoors. I love the feeling of peace I feel whenever I look up at the night sky and see all the bright stars shining freely.
There's something even better about stargazing with a friend or someone that you cherish dearly. It can be such a romantic setting as well but for now, I just want Darling to feel safe and comforted. Mickie's eyes lit up and her lips curled into a gorgeous smile. "I'd like that. Are you sure it's okay?"
"Yeah totally, we can climb up on the barn and look up at the beautiful stars." It's not like we are wandering off into the unknown by ourselves. Darling and I are going together into a safe area, I know my farm like the back of my hand. We are all safe out here. I grabbed onto my Goddess's hand and smiled wide at her. "We won't be out too long, but I know you'll love it like I do." Sugarplum nodded her head and with our hands laced together, we went back into the living room and out the front door. Immediately the both of us felt the cool breeze of a summer night, the sight of lightning bugs by the creek and the woods and the natural moonlight illuminated the area. "This way Darling." For the next minute or so, the both of us made our way up to the barn where some of our cows were inside resting, the rest were still out and about. I directed Sugarplum to the ladder to go to the upper level. I stayed close behind her to make sure she didn't fall and to look at her round peach. What? I'm not a saint.
My Goddess slowly stepped out onto the balcony-like platform; her eyes glued up to the sky. She sat down, dangling her legs over the edge and I did the same. I noticed that beautiful smile slowly disappeared and turned into a frown. "You know, being in the city, I've never taken the time to appreciate the stars. Katarina told me once that people believe the stars in the sky can be angels watching from the heavens. I wonder if that's true, I wonder if Maria's watching."
"Gabi always says the same thing. I think it's true. Whenever I'm sad. I think of my Nana up there watching. I think Maria's watching over you too." I believe that everyone has a guardian angel that watches over them, and Ria is going to be for her family and best friend. The thought of the afterlife confuses me, and death is something I like to avoid discussing. I want to enjoy my life to the fullest and know that I did everything I set out to do. Although now, with this crazy fucker running around, I'm not sure what to think.
"Heh, she'd smack me silly seeing how sad I've been." Mickie forced out a chuckle, looking back up at the clear night sky.
"Well, you can be sad as long as you need, Darling. I'll always be here to try and cheer you up."
"Thank you, Sugarplum. Ria always did her best to make me feel better too. But this time, I know she's not here to do that." Darling let out a sigh, she didn't look my way at all. There was a solid minute of silence as the singer continued to look at the sky. She bit into her bottom lip as a lone tear rolled down her cheek. My heart hurts so much. "...Maria's not here anymore. She won't be here for my next single to release or my next album. S-She won't be here to attend the two weddings of our dear friends. Ria won't get to be a maid of honor at my wedding or visit the hospital after I give birth to my future ch-children." My Goddess finally looked back to me, tears pouring out of her glossy eyes. My heart was breaking. Is there anything I can say to make her feel better? Come on Blaire, think. She continued, "..I wanted to deny this for so long; that this was all some sort of bad dream, and I'd wake up and everything would be fine. But it's not, and it's all my fault."
"It's not your fault Sugarplum! Don't you dare think that way. Some sick fuck did this to her. If Ria was still here, I'm sure she wouldn't want you to blame yourself." I found myself immediately wrapping my arms around her and pulling her into me. She should never blame herself for what happened. There's no way any of us could have known.
My Darling sniffled, wiping the tears from her eyes. Her breath hitched as she shook her head from side to side. "I know I shouldn't blame myself, but I can't help but think that way. The shoe would have been on the other foot if that was the case. Would I have suffered the same fate? I'm not sure. But whenever we went inside.. I did nothing. Daisy and Vic were able to remain strong, but I was weak. Sugarplum, you took care of me. You helped me whenever no one else could. I can't thank you enough for what you've done and continue to do." I felt the warmth of her palm gently caress the side of my face. Mickie looked back up to the sky, keeping her hand on my cheek. "If she is watching me right now, I hope Maria can forgive me and give me the strength to keep going."
"You're wrong." I blurted out which caused Sugarplum to look at me with a confused gaze. I can't take all this credit for something I didn't do. "We were all a mess when we walked in. I was so scared I couldn't move. Even when you needed me most, I wasn't able to snap out of it. It was because of Daisy that Victoria and I were able to move at all and even then, the only thing keeping me from breaking down was the thought of your heartbreak. Daisy was the one who kept us on our feet and able to help each other. You have some great friends, Darling. I think if we all stay together, we can help each other heal." Daisy had the toughest decision out of all of us. She could either stay and help Mickie or search for the potential killer. She's the only one that might stand a chance against this sick fuck. She was able to snap us out of it and we were able to function again. I wasn't strong enough to help my Goddess. I was scared. I was helpless. I need to be stronger too, like Daisy if I hope to protect Sugarplum and everyone else.
Mickie looked at me almost speechless at what I said, her frown disappeared but the brunette wasn't smiling either. She nodded her head. "Yeah, you're right. Being here with Gabi, Sarita and especially you have really helped me remember that I am not alone. I'm not the only one affected and I need to be strong. This is the first time in a long time I've been separated from Daisy and Vic. I feel like two important pieces are gone right now."
"I know how you feel, I feel pretty empty whenever I'm not with Gabi. I'm sure it's hard for them too. I wish they would have come with us. But I promised them that I would protect and I'm really good at keeping promises." That's why I have to remain strong and keep getting stronger to protect those I care about. I have Gabi's spell jar close to my heart but that's only to protect me. I'll have to remember what Gabi said to me. I know that our bond is so strong that she made one for me first, but my Goddess needs all the extra protection she gets. Gabi's spells are pretty strong and always help me.
"You're the sweetest. They wanted me here with you because they know you can keep me safe. I do need you, Darling." With that last sentence, my heart thundered in my chest. She.. needs me. "I have no regrets whenever it comes to meeting you. You've been the ray of sunshine in the storm clouds." That smile was truly the prettiest thing I've ever laid eyes on. It was genuine and it made my cheeks heat up a little.
"Well, after storm clouds usually comes a rainbow. And when I'm with you, I feel the world is pretty and colorful like a rainbow." My life has almost always been sunshine and rainbows, I don't like to look at the negative side of things. Yeah, sometimes clouds try to darken the skies, but the sun will shine again. However, since fate was so kind to us and I managed to meet the woman of my dreams, the world feels a lot brighter. Colors that used to feel so dull are now so bright and it's really all thanks to Sugarplum. A one in a million chance to meet her and an even lower chance that we would become friends and now, I'm really smitten with her. Well, I have always been but having cuddled her and kissed her; my heart is soaring through the air!
My Goddess beamed another huge smile, she leaned onto my shoulder and covered one of my hands with hers. She feels so warm. "Thanks Sugarplum, you are the sweetest. You know, I didn't think I'd want to be romantically interested in someone for a long while after my relationship. But you came moseying in that bar with a gameplan in motion." R-Romantically interested in someone?! Oh, em gee, she's really interested in me like that?! Holy fuck, God I'm so in love with her and I could probably write a book about her beauty. Blaire.. Get a grip! This isn't the time to be a silly willy.
"How long ago was your last relationship?" That was the first question that came to mind.
"It's been a little over a year since my last relationship."
I noticed that her small smile turned into a frown again and it made my heart hurt. I probably shouldn't have asked something so personal. Blaire, you big dummy! "I'm sorry Sugarplum. I shouldn't have asked." I said apologetically, if Darling wanted to talk about something so personal, she would. Don't force it out of her.
Micke squeezed onto my hand lightly and shook her head. "No, it's okay. I'm fine with talking about it. I decided after a concert about two years ago that I was going to go out to the bar. There I met a man named Nick. Nick was from England so that accent really got me hooked on him. He was such a charmer. Not long after that night did we go out on our first date. Our relationship was sunshine and rainbows or so I thought but almost a year into our relationship; I found out he was cheating on me. I was given the evidence and broke up with him immediately. I've never seen him since that day."
How in the world could someone be so stupid to cheat on a literal goddess? This Nick guy might be a literal idiot. "Well, whoever can let you go is a real dummy. You're the most gorgeous girl I've ever seen. You're smart, funny and kind. When I first saw you at the bar, I was smitten by your beauty. When I found out you were my Goddess, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world." I told her, pouring my heart out to her. It was true, even whenever she was Alexis, she captivated me. Not long after I found out she was THE Mickie James, the most beautiful woman in the world.
"Haha! I'm not so sure about that! But thank you. I can't imagine I'm all that you say I am, if Nick was able to cheat on me."
"Darling, if you don't realize just how amazing you are then you're a dummy! Everyday that I get to wake up and see you, you take my breath away. You don't realize how much I really like you. Just being by your side makes me so happy. You make my heart skip all day; I'm scared that it will jump out!" Once again, I am pouring my heart out to her. I want to really make Sugarplum understand that what happened with all of this was never her fault. Looking into her eyes, I could see them sparkle like the stars in the sky right now. She smiled, squeezing onto my hand. My heart was thundering in my chest and my breath hitched. I leaned a little closer and connected my lips softly to hers. I don't want her to think I'm trying to take advantage of her because I would never dream of doing that. All I want is for Mickie to feel better!
I felt her lips move against mine, my hand resting up to caress her cheek as I continued kissing her softly. Moving some strands of brown hair from her face, I cupped her cheeks with both of my hands pulling her closer to me. She emitted soft hums of approval, leaning into me as she broke the kiss. Darling gave me one more soft peck before grinning widely. "I don't know how I'd be handling all this without you. This is scary. I've never had something like this happen before. But being by your side, I feel now, I can hopefully heal and try moving forward."
"I'll always be by your side, no matter what." I made sure to tell her that again, giving her another soft peck on her lips. Nothing is going to stop me from staying by your side. I looked beside me to my phone that was facing upwards, I sighed knowing that we should probably head back. Dawn comes super early. "Darling, it's getting pretty late. Do you want to head back?"
"Not yet, let's sit up here a little longer. It's peaceful." She suggested, looking up to the stars and leaning herself closer to me. I couldn't say no to that. I'm going to teasuring all the time and moments I can get with her.
No One's POV
30 mins.. After the Video Call…
Christy and Brooke felt a sense of relief after hearing from all of their friends. The past week has been the worst week of their lives. The only situation that has had a bigger impact on the redhead's life was the day after her mother had passed whenever she was a teenager. She wasn't close to her siblings or father anymore so the only family she had were Daisy, her friends here and her soon to be wife. Hemme couldn't help but smile to herself, looking over at the brunette beside her. Never in a million years did Christy expect to be engaged or settle down with a woman but Brooke changed her entire view on love. Sure, she still wanted to sample other meals on occasion, but Tessie was her forever favorite. It was a little after nine o'clock as the pair cuddled together in bed, trying to watch tv. Staying cooped up in their one-bedroom apartment was super against the party lifestyle that the couple live. "Babeee, there's nothing on and I don't want to watch reruns of Blue Bloods or Fire Country again."
Brooke giggled at Christy's childish whining, "Christina, what are you suggesting that we do?" The redhead smirked at the younger woman and wiggled her eyebrows. Tessmacher sighed, why did she even bother asking? "Yeah yeah, besides that dummy." Hemme's mind was also thinking about sex, but then again, the brunette was just as bad. Makes sense how they are perfect for each other.
The redhead sat herself up on the bed and shrugged her shoulders. "Literally anything! You know I don't like being cooped up. Let's go to a bar for a couple drinks and then we can come back here for dessert." She was literally begging her lover to adventure outside and enjoy the night. After everything that has happened, they need a little stress relief but doing so is a double-edged sword.
Tessmacher sat up beside the redhead and gently rubbed her arm. "I know baby, I know. But it's not smart to go out right now, even if the area has a lot of people. Remember the festival, someone was murdered there." Thousands of people were in attendance and yet, no one saw a fucking thing. How was that even possible? So, if something horrible like that can happen there, it can happen anywhere.
Christy hated to admit that the brunette was absolutely right. She shook her head as she felt Brooke's lips connect to the side of her cheek. "Yeah, neither one of us were there whenever it happened but from what I heard, it was brutal. I don't like this one bit. They are our friends, but you can't tell me that the festival murder and our friends aren't linked somehow." Hemme never wanted to suspect any of the people she holds dear to them but all these events, they don't feel like a coincidence.
"I-I don't really want to think that someone we know could be involved like this." Brooke's voice cracked as she shook her head vigorously from left to right. All Christy could do at the moment was hold onto her. She never wants to upset Tessie but she's looking at it with tinted glasses. "About what you said at the funeral, do you really think that more than one person is involved?"
"It's possible that somebody knows something about the killer. I'm not so sure." Someone has to know something. Nothing is making sense! 'How would the killer have known that Maria was at Mickie's house?' It was such a sudden change for Maria to go there instead of Mickie. 'Does that mean that Mickie was the intended target or Vic or even Nikki? I refuse to believe that Maria was the target, not in her own house.'
"We could be overthinking it and Maria's murder was really all a fucked-up coincidence. Wrong place, wrong time and just so happened to be there."
Christy was leaning more toward that possibility now; Maria was too good of a person to have any enemies. "Maybe but I feel like it's something more than that. Who knows. I don't want to think about that now." She released a loud sigh, feeling that massive cloud of sadness attempting to hover back over her.
"Let's go out tomorrow night instead, okay, we can get Daisy and Vic to come with us." Brooke suggested. It would be the safest option and having family by their side is needed especially now.
Christy knew that Brooke was right, it would still be safer having more numbers and people they trust around. Daisy and Christy have been bonded together since they were kids, they are more like sisters than cousins. Victoria is soon going to be her sister-in-law. 'The Killer wants to cause confusion and a rift between all of us. It'd make us all vulnerable. I trust my family. I want to trust all my friends.' The redhead didn't want to think about it anymore for the night. She wanted to cuddle with her girl and maybe some sexy fun afterwards. "Good idea baby, can you put on some Hulu while I go get some water?"
Hemme leaned over and gave the brunette a small peck on the lips. She made her way off of the bed, stretching as she stood to her feet. Her body felt so stiff after staying in the same position for so long. "Of course, any preference?" Tessie asked as she reached over to grab the remote.
"It's your turn to pick a movie. Do you want anything from the kitchen, beautiful?"
"I'd like water too."
"Okay." Christy walked to the front of their bedroom and left their cozy little quarters. She walked down the short, narrow hallway that had two doors, one on each side of the wall. One for the little laundry room and one for the bathroom. Hemme walked over to the fridge, grabbing a couple bottles of water and set them on the counter. She shut the fridge door, and her eyes immediately locked onto the trash can that was filled to the brim. Didn't they just empty this yesterday? "Hey babe, I am going to run the trash out right fast."
"Oh sorry, I forgot it was my turn! I'll come get it." She heard her fiancée yelling back from the bedroom.
"No, you stay there. It's pretty heavy, so I'll take care of it. I'll be right back!"
"Don't keep me waiting too long or I'll start a movie without you!" Christy chuckled, grabbing the trash bag and pulling it out of the bin. She cursed to herself at how heavy a bunch of garbage managed to be. What the hell did they put in this thing? The redhead walked over to the sink and opened the cabinet underneath. Before she takes this out, she's going to replace the bag before she forgets. Christy was known for forgetting to finish chores, but it wasn't her fault, her fiancée has an amazing ass and it distracts her. Pulling out a fresh bag, she tossed the box back under the sink and closed the cabinet door. The redhead opened the bag and got it placed in the can. Hemme slid on her sneakers and grabbed onto the trash. She opened the door to exit the apartment with a content little hum. There was a slight summer breeze that made the heat a little more bearable. Despite it being nighttime, the temperature was still in the mid-seventies and the high today was ninety-five.
The parking lot to their apartment complex was barely populated with any vehicles and not a soul was outside. It seemed pretty odd not to see some of the wild teenagers lurking about, they would always hide by the dumpsters to smoke a joint or drink some alcohol. She can't discourage said behavior since Christy was one of those rebellious teenagers. Being extra cautious, the redhead locked the apartment door behind her, tucking the key away in her shorts pocket. This particular night had clear skies to help illuminate the parking lot better along with a couple of streetlights. Why did the dumpster have to be so far away and across the parking lot? Christy quickly paced down the stairs and made it to the first floor. There was a little walkway that separated the two main buildings of the complex. The redhead couldn't help but look over her shoulders as the wind tickled the hairs on the back of her neck. She sighed as the brief moment of fear subsided. Christy walked across the parking lot to the dumpsters, she tossed the bag inside. As the redhead turned her heels to walk away, she heard a thumping noise that sounded like something hitting the side of the dumpster. Her curiosity was starting to get the better of her, but Hemme knew that investigating could be bad news. Thump! It happened again. After several seconds passed, the sound happened again, and this time Christy was going to look around. Peaking around the corner quickly, her heart thumped widely in her chest. A pair of eyes looked back at her, twinkling and glowing in the light; the creature hissed and scurried away. "A fucking cat.. I was scared of a cat."
Christy shook her head and turned around, there was no way that she was going to stay outside longer than she has too. She almost had a heart attack over a stray attempting to rummage through a dumpster. This entire thing has her paranoia skyrocketing at the smallest sound. The redhead made it back to the walkway, and she went to start her ascent up the stairs only for something to grab the back of her shirt pulled her back. Christy stumbled backwards a step and went to turn around, but something made its presence known in her peripheral version. The object was metalic and placed almost against her throat. Her body trembled, realizing that it was the blade of a knife. She wanted to scream for help but knew that was a stupid option. "Christina Hemme, it's a pleasure to finally meet you." A distorted voice spoke, the stranger's free hand tightly gripped onto Hemme's right wrist. The redhead did her best to regulate her rapid breaths to no avail; the grip on her wrist was starting to hurt. The redhead slowly turned her head to the right as the stranger surprisingly allowed her to look at the face of whoever was responsible. Instead of a face, Christy's eyes widened, locking onto a red mask that looked like a mixture between the devil and a demon. Dried blood splattered across, and that blood could very well be the blood of Maria. Holes for eyes that looked like a void stared back and her life was constantly flashing before her eyes. This was the Devil's Advocate.
Author's Note:
Tori here! This chapter is one of my favs so far! Love the feelings that are brewing between Sarita and Gabi. And Blaire and Mickie are slowly falling for each other. Alfonso is the real mvp of this chapter. Daisy here! A dangerous demon cock really showed us that Sarita and Blaire might share the same brain cell. At least it got Mickie to laugh, so it's worth it. Tori's right. Something is going on between Sarita and Gabi, I wonder what? But we ended the chapter with the appearance of the Devil's Advocate. Is Christy their next victim or will she manage to get away! Stay tuned and find out whenever these idiots decide to update.
