Chapter 1

On board the spacecraft known as the Arcadia, a commercial freighter that was commanded by 7 crew members. The giant freighter was designed to explore the further reaches of space to search for alien life. So far, they have found none.

During the explorations, they found some unique resources they were told to transfer back. Though it wasn't an easy job to get it, they were transporting back what appeared to be about 20,000,000 tons of mineral ore for scientific purposes. Their next destination was to return back to planet Earth.

The first crew member onboard the ship Riza Hawkeye. She was the warrant officer of the Arcadia and was very good at organizing stores and cargo. When it came to the crew, Hawkeye was the one who was calm and collected. She had her ways of maintaining the sanity of the crew when things got out of hand.

Shikamaru Nara, he appeared lazy while being organized. Yet, he considered the work he did to be a drag. Though it may not look like it, he was a good strategist when it came to the crew. It was what pretty much summed up his personality. Shikamaru Nara served as the Arcadia's captain.

Yuzuru Otonashi was less controlled in thought and action than Shikamaru. He served as the Arcadia's executive officer and he was really good at his job. Still, he lacked any capabilities to be captain. To be a captain required a certain drive coupled with the ability to command others, neither something Yuzuru had.

Gajeel Redfox was a muscular fellow who was what you would call the offensive type. He served as the Arcadia's engineer. He tended to get irritated and angry, not to mentioning butting heads with the crew members. More than that, it annoyed him how he was getting less paid than the other members that were being paid more. The type of pay he was getting seemed less fair to him.

Haruhi Fujioka served as the crew's navigator and was responsible for seeing the crew safely home. More than that, she was also in charge of checking the readout of the ship to make sure it was fully operational and making sure there were no damages and seeing if repairs were needed. She was one of the few crew members that took her job seriously like Riza did. She was the type of crew member you did not want to make angry as Gajeel and Jaune learned the hard way.

Jaune Arc served as the ship's engineering technician. Despite his skinny and weak appearance, he was pretty smart and knowledgeable, while Gajeel lacked any type of decency. Yet, the two of them formed an odd pair. They coexisted and functioned together properly when it came to handling the engine on the ship. Part of this was because was never the type to make Gajeel angry or set him off.

And then there was Sosuke Aizen. Aizen was the ship's science officer. Aizen was a man of very few words. He mostly kept to himself, but was a well-mannered and decent fellow. Many of the crew members hardly knew him that much and to them Aizen was a strange person.

Lastly, there was the crew's pet dog named Black Hayate. He was the pet dog, a Shiba Inu, who was owned by Riza Hawkeye. She had no one to watch him while she was away on her space travels, so she decided to bring Black Hayate along for the ride. He was a well trained dog and he knew when to be on guard if he smelled something he did not like.

All 7 of the crew members, including Black Hayate, were all asleep in their space pods, which put them in a deep hibernated sleep. The space pods kept human beings from aging, no matter how much time has passed. They were necessary for space travel since their journey through space was a very long one.

The Arcadia was left on autopilot, guiding the crew back home and was programmed by an artificial intelligence supercomputer called Carla. She was to wake up the crew when it saw from its data that they were close to approaching Earth.

What happened next on the Arcadia was that banks of brilliant lights winked on and the darkened ship lit up. There was a beeping noise that sounded off as if the ship itself was receiving a signal from somewhere.
