Episode 2: Welcome to Madera
One night at the Madera Castle Town, the Festival of the Sun is being held with fireworks fired up towards the night sky, lighting and illuminating it with spectacular patterns. A large boat comes in with Princess Amelia on board, waving to the cheering crowds while a few flying type Pokémon were flying around in the background. Once the boat docks at a large platform overlooked by a large cauldron, she steps off, walking towards a statue. One of the hooded figures then brings in a torch and bestows it to Amelia while she looks at it. After a few seconds of staring at the flame, she then visualizes a large blast of fire engulfing Madera and her floating into the air as she notices Azrael in the distance emerging from a large crater as it gives off a ferocious roar before being snapped back to reality.
Amelia's lady-in-waiting: Miss Amelia.
Princess Amelia: It... It's alright. We give thanks for the blessed flames. May we always continue to have peace. Sun of Madera, guide and watch over us with your eternal light...
Amelia lights a flame with the torch that ignites a frame surrounding a pedestal and finally the large cauldron itself. Everyone applauds while more fireworks are launched into the sky. No one notices several energy balls streaking out of the sky among the fireworks until it is too late. The balls land and impact several buildings around Madera Castle Town, causing everyone to instantly go from celebrating to panicking as they realize Madera is under attack. Amelia yelps in shock upon witnessing the carnage to her kingdom. The Team Rocket airship then flies over the cauldron and drops off Team Rocket Grunts around Amelia and the other figures with her. As they are about to attack, the Team Rocket Trio, with Wobbuffet and Mime Jr., appears in their balloon. The Team Rocket Grunts to the sides of the Balloon glance over as the trio prepares to confront the Madera sovereign, starting with doing their motto.
Jessie: Prepare for trouble from the Madera skies!
James: From beyond the stars, a nasty town surprise!
Jessie: An evil as old as the galaxy...
James: ...sent here to fulfill our destiny!
Meowth: Plus, there's me!
Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James: To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie: Jessie!
James: And James!
Meowth: And Meowth are the names!
Jessie: Anywhere there's peace in the universe...
James: ...Team Rocket...
Meowth: ...Will be there...
All: To make everything worse!
Wobbuffet: Wobbuffet!
Mime Jr.: Mime Mime Mime!
Princess Amelia: No... What are you all doing?! Why are you attacking us?!
Jessie: A pleasure to meet you at last, Princess of Madera. We are Team Rocket. We've come here to obtain the secret of the Flames of Disaster from you.
James: And to take the orbs that are the keys to its secret... The Time Stones!
Meowth: Now Princess, this way please.
The trio politely gestures towards their direction and Amelia begins to step back in fear. Within a few seconds, yellow thunderbolts begin to appear circling around in the air, blowing up the robes of the bishop and robed figures with Amelia. Amelia looks around puzzled before her attention is drawn to a protruding piece of debris as a familiar boy, who is in his Hoenn region outfit, with a Pikachu comes to put a stop on it.
Ash: So, you guys are up to no good again?!
Pikachu: (Angrily) Pika Pika!
Princess Amelia: You... (She visualizes Diego in Ash's place.) It can't be!
Ash smiles and Pikachu attacks Team Rocket's Pokemon and defeated them. The grunts retreated and the last one he stuns with the energy from his earlier attack as it dispels over it before he simply nudges it with his tail to tip over and off its perch. He then runs back to Ash, who approached Amelia.
Ash: My name is Ash Ketchum and this is my partner Pikachu.
Pikachu: Pika Pika!
Jessie: Not that irritating twerp again! Attack!
Team Rocket's Pokémon begin to use several moves at Ash and Pikachu as he runs away. Amelia cries out in fright when some impact dangerously close to Ash as they cause further damage to Madera Castle Town when they miss as they chase him down. However, he is able to make it through then and escape. Diego stands over a roof looking towards Ash.
Diego: I finally found him... the Azrael Trigger!
A few moments later, Ash is running through the town with Amelia in his arms and Pikachu on his shoulder.
Princess: Umm... Why are you helping me?
Ash: No special reason.
Princess Ameila: Ash!
The Team Rocket Grunts approach them and release their Pokémon to attack them. Ash and Pikachu began to battle them. After a long battle, Pikachu defeated them. And then the princess screams and Ash and Pikachu turned around and saw Jessie, James and Meowth in their balloon with the Princess held tight in their mechanical arm.
Jessie: I'm afraid our little game ends now.
Ash: Team Rocket! Let go of the Princess right now!
Pikachu: (Angrily) Pika Pika!
James: Not until we get the secrets of the flames of disaster!
Meowth: And guess what? This newly powered arm is now electric and steel proof! So Pikachu's thunderbolt and iron tail won't work on this arm! And don't bother trying or you'll end up hurting this poor defenseless Princess!
They all laugh evilly.
Princess Amelia: Ash! Take this!
Amelia throws the Time Stone to Ash and he catches it.
Ash: I've got it! And don't worry, we'll rescue you!
Amelia: I know.
Jessie: (Scoffs) It's only a matter of time before it's ours. Until then, you can hold onto it for us!
The balloon goes into Team Rocket's brand new battleship. Ash watches as the battleship flies away. He then tries to chase after it, but it was too late. The camera pulls away from him to Diego at a bird's-eye view of him atop one of the houses. Diego makes a fist, as if he knows that vengeance will soon be his. He jumps off and lands on the rooftop and is about to go after Ash before a certain Pokémon coordinator noticed him.
May: Hey! Get down from there! You're gonna hurt yourself!
Diego: Oh. Sorry. (After he got down from the rooftop, he comes face to face with May.) What are you doing out here so late?
May: I was training my Pokémon for the Kanto Grand Festival. It's gonna start in 2 weeks, so I have to practice so I can be prepared to win it.
Diego: So you're a Pokémon coordinator?
May: Yes. My goal is to become the top coordinator, and now that I have all the Kanto ribbons, I am one step closer to achieving my goal.
Diego: I see. Well, what's your name?
May: It's May.
Diego: Ah, I'm... (Sees that Ash has vanished) Huh? Hey, where'd he go? (Looks around again) He must have run off!
May: I'm sorry. Did you miss someone because of me?
Diego: Ah... it's okay. I'm sure the guy I'm looking for is still on the island. I'm sure I can still find him.
May: (Grabs Diego's hand) Well then, I'll help you!
Diego: What?
May: Two heads are better than one when looking for someone!
Diego: Hey, just wait a second!
May: What's your name?
After a brief pause...
Diego: Diego.
May: Nice to meet you. Anyways, it's getting late. I'll help you find who you're looking for tomorrow. I have to get back to my hotel with my friends and my little brother.
Diego: You have a brother?
May: Yeah. He's super annoying and idiotic, but I still care about him.
Diego: Cool. I live with a friend of mine.
May: That's nice. Anyways, gotta go.
She leaves him.
Diego: She seems really nice.
Meanwhile at a snowy region, the alarm from Team Rocket's fortress-like base is heard and a battalion of Team Rocket Grunts marches forward to deal with the intruder. Gary and his Umbreon storm out of a forest and towards the base. The grunts release their Pokémon and tries to attack them, but Gary's Umberon uses shadow ball on all of them and their Pokémon, defeating them all at once. They then snuck into the base perimeter without getting caught as an explosion is heard in the background and hide from the searchlights. Gary returns Umbreon to its Pokéball and noticed a building with a phone. Gary then called Officer Jenny.
Officer Jenny: Thanks for volunteering to infiltrate Team Rocket's base to save the Cerulean City Gym Leader.
Gary: You're welcome. I just can't believe those creeps would just kidnap her like that!
Officer Jenny: Yeah. Anyways, I'll be giving you directions to where Misty is held captive.
Gary: Okay.
Officer Jenny: Anyways, I have to go now. Good luck on the mission.
Gary: Thanks. (The call ends.) Misty, I'll rescue you.
He starts to make it farther in the base.

Gary was running to find the location where Misty was being held captive.
Gary: What's Team Rocket up to this time? (He releases his Pokémon as several Team Rocket Grunts start to battle him.) All of you, use your powerful moves to defeat them!
After a long battle, the Grunts were defeated.
Grunt: You'll pay for that...
Gary pushes a switch and makes a door open. A huge army of Team Rocket Grunts release their Pokémon.
Gary: Everyone, come on out!
All of Gary's Pokémon began to battle them once again. After another long battle, Gary managed to defeat all of them and make it further in the base.

Meanwhile with Misty, she managed to break out of the holding cells and began to make her way through the snowy base.
Misty: I managed to get out of the holding cells of the base, but the security's really high. I gotta try to get out of here. (Misty starts to sneak her way past the guards.) Gotta be careful not to get caught. (She climbs to the top of the snowy mountain inside the base, as the guards are still walking around the parameter to make sure Misty doesn't escape. She quietly calls out Politoed.) Politoed, create a distraction using Hydro Pump!
Politoed shoots water out of its mouth and it hits a wall.
Grunt: What was that?!
As the grunts are distracted, Misty quietly climbs down and opens the exit.
Misty: Team Rocket is no match for me! (She exits and sees Gary.) Gary? Why did you rescue me?
Gary: It was a request by Officer Jenny. But anyways, I gotta destroy 5 searchlights so we can get out of here. Wanna help me?
Misty: Sure. Anything to get out of this place!
Gary: Okay. Let's do this. (They approached the first searchlight and Gary sends out Blastoise.) Blastoise, use Rapid Spin on that searchlight!
Blastoise uses Rapid Spin on the searchlight and destroys it.
Misty: One down, four to go!
Gary and Misty release their Pokémon and so many of Team Rocket's personnel release their Pokémon start to battle them. While taking down Team Rocket's Pokémon, they managed to destroy 3 more searchlights.
Gary: Okay. I see the last one up ahead!
Misty: Oh no! Look!
Several Pokémon from Team Rocket block their path.
Gary: We're gonna get out of here, whether they like it or not!
All of Gary and Misty's Pokémon battle the Pokémon blocking their path. After a really long battle, the duo managed to win and Gary's Blastoise uses Rapid Spin on the final searchlight and they managed to make it to an exit.
Gary and Misty, who holds an item called Scepter of Darkness, are walking through the outside base.
Misty: Hey Gary, while I was trapped in there, I found this. Don't you want to know what this is?
Gary: I was told by Officer Jenny to rescue you, nothing more.
Misty: Fine. With you, it's always business. Also, I thought you were in Sinnoh doing your research.
Gary: Yeah, but I had to put my research on hold to come save you. In fact, how come Ash didn't come to save you?
Misty: I didn't want to interrupt his goal of collecting all the Frontier symbols. That's why.
Gary: I see.
The earth shakes and a giant Growlithe mech appears, blocking Gary and Misty's path.
Misty: It's seems they don't want us to leave.
Gary: Let's get this over with.
(Play Boss: Egg Cerberus & Egg Genesis from Sonic 06 for the rest of this section.)
Misty: Gary, if we're gonna get out of here, we must take it down.
Gary: Good idea! Come on out, Blastoise!
Blastoise is released.
Misty: Politoed, come on... (Psyduck comes out of its Pokéball.) Damn it, Psyduck! I told you not to do that anymore!
The mech charges towards them.
Gary: Watch out!
They jumped out of the way and Misty returns Psyduck back to its Pokéball and releases Politoed.
Misty: Politoed, use hydro pump on the mech!
Politoed uses hydro pump on the mech, but it charged towards them.
Gary: Blastoise, use Rapid Spin!
Blastoise uses Rapid Spin on the mech and it gets slammed into the wall.
Misty: Looks like the armor of the mech is gone!
Gary: Perfect!
But then, the mech got back up and charged towards them again. They jumped out the way and the mech uses flamethrower. They then dodged it.
Misty: How do we stop this thing from killing us?!
Gary: Maybe I can have Blastoise use Rapid Spin again.
Misty: Okay. Go for it!
Gary: Blastoise, use Rapid Spin again!
Blastoise uses Rapid Spin on the mech again and it hits the wall again, but this time, the mech explodes and they were out of here after returning their Pokémon to their Pokéballs. They see a teleportation device on the ground outside the base.
Misty: Let's use it and get out of here.
Gary: Good idea.
They activated the device and it teleports them out of the base.
Misty and Gary got teleported a control room in Madera New City.
Misty: Ah, Madera, the city of water. It has a constitutional monarchy, you know. The primary industries are tourism and crafting precision machinery. The current sovereign is Princess Amelia the Third.
Gary: Why does Team Rocket's base lead to an odd place like this?
Misty: How should I know? I just retrieved the Item at their base. Anyway, I have a little favor to ask of you. Could you escort me to the rendezvous point? That's where I'm supposed to meet my sisters so they can pick me up and take me back to Cerulean City.
Gary: Where's the rendezvous point?
Misty: (Points to the map on the computer screen) It's the ancient castle of Madera, called Kingdom Valley.
Gary: Okay. First thing in the morning, we rest up and head there.
Misty: Got it.
They both noticed a couch.
Gary: This is the place to rest up, so let's get ready to go to bed.
Misty: Okay.
They later went to sleep.

The next morning, Ash exits his hotel yawning.
Ash: Okay Pikachu. Let's get ready to save the Princess.
A young boy with glasses exits the hotel.
Max: Hey Ash.
Ash: Hey Max. Did you sleep well?
Max: Yeah, but I did hear some people out here talking. They said that you tried to save their Princess from Team Rocket. You're going to rescue her, aren't you? Let me help. I may not know what Team Rocket's up to, but it can't be a good thing!
Ash: OK! With your help, this should be a piece of cake.
Max: Heh heh. I'll do my best!
Ash: Should we get Brock and May to help us?
Max: Actually, Brock said he's gonna check out the city again. As for May, she said she's gonna continue training for the Grand Festival.
Ash: Okay.
May's Munchlax approaches them.
Max: I caught Munchlax sneaking away to an all you can eat buffet and just as he was about to grab the food, I grabbed him and took him out of there.
Ash: Good for you. But is May gonna notice her Munchlax missing?
Max: She actually saw me chasing after him. She told me to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't get into any trouble.
Ash: Okay. Anyways, let's go and ask people about where the Princess is.
Ash and Max begin to ask random people about the Princess, but all of them were still scared over what happened the previous night. And then they noticed an old man approaching them.
Old Man: Hey Kid. I have something to help improve your Pokémon. My name is Tommy Joe Roberts, and I've been making my very famous type-enhancing items for a long time. I'm making the ultimate zap plate. It can boost all electric type moves by 20%. Would you like to test it out?
Ash: Pikachu, what do you think? (Pikachu happily agrees.) Okay. Let's do it!
Tommy Joe gives Pikachu the zap plate.
Tommy Joe: Okay. Those targets over there are all set up. If you can get Pikachu to attack the center of three of them, you get to keep it.
Ash: Okay. Let's do this! (Ash and Pikachu approaches the targets.) Pikachu, use thunderbolt on all the targets!
Pikachu uses thunderbolt on all the targets and destroys them after attacking the center.
Tommy Joe: What a success! It preformed exactly as I thought! My zap plate is amazing! You get to keep it!
Ash: Thanks.
Tommy Joe: Anytime. Now go save our Princess!
Ash: Okay. Come on, Max.
Max: That was so awesome on how Pikachu took out those targets.
Ash: Yup. Anyways...
A random kid approached them.
Kid: Hey. You're that boy who tried to save our Princess from Team Rocket, right?
Ash: Yeah.
Kid: Well, I came here to tell you that I found out where they took the princess.
Ash: Really? Where did they take her?
Kid: I saw their airship at the beach.
Ash: Okay. That's where we need to go. Let's go, Max!
Max: Yeah!
They left to go to the beach where the kid spotted the airship.

Ash, Max, Pikachu and Munchlax are on a boat being driven by the Princess' lady in waiting.
Ash: We gotta hurry and save Amelia!
Amelia's Lady-in-Waiting: When we get to the beach, I'm gonna drop you off so you can save the Princess.
Ash: Okay. Thanks.
Amelia's Lady-in-Waiting: You're welcome. Looks like we're approaching it.
They managed to make it and Ash, Max, Pikachu and Munchlax got off the boat.
Ash: Thanks for the lift!
Amelia's Lady-in-Waiting: You're welcome. Good luck!
She drives off on the boat.
Ash: Let's go and save the Princess. We'll have better luck in the air.
Max: Good idea.
Ash: Swellow, I choose you! (Swellow was released from its Pokéball.) Swellow, can you fly all of us in the air so we can have a better chance of finding the Princess?
Swellow agrees and they got on.
Max: Princess Amelia, we're gonna save you!
Swellow begins to fly them in the air and it gets them past the Team Rocket Grunts.
Ash: Team Rocket has many of their army scouting the place.
Max: I just hope they don't notice us.
Ash: Yeah. Same here. (But suddenly, one of Team Rocket's Pokémon blasted at them, but they missed. However, Swellow was startled and they fell from the sky. Ash returns Swellow to its Pokéball and he and Pikachu fell on to of a Sharpedo. He grabs the fin and it begins to swim up and down in the water with Ash grabbing on its fin and Pikachu holding on to him.) Max, hurry and push the gate switch so it doesn't get out!
Max: Okay, Ash. I'll help you! Munchlax, we gotta find a way across this water. (A Lapras approached them and offered them a ride.) Awesome. A Lapras! But I'll get excited later. Right now, I gotta save Ash! (He and Munchlax got on the Lapras and it takes them to the nearest beach, which had a lighthouse. Max and Munchlax got off afterwards.) Thanks Laparas.
Ash: Max, hurry up!
Max: I'm almost there, Ash! Just hang in there! (They managed to climb up the platform where the switch was and hit the switch and it closes.) I did it!
Ash: Good job, Max! Swellow, come on out!
Swellow comes out of its Pokéball and it picks up Max and Munchlax as Ash and Pikachu were thrown over the gate by the Sharpedo. They landed on Swellow.
Max: Are you two okay?
Ash: Yeah. We're fine. But anyways, let's go and chase that battleship!
They all held on tight as Swellow begins to fly in a full rate of speed as they chase after Team Rocket's battleship.

Ash: Darn! We're not gonna make it! Swellow, speed up and make sure we get to that battleship!
Swellow nods and begins to fly as fast as it could to catch Team Rocket's battleship. However, some of their personnel were flying as fast as they could behind them.
Max: Oh no.
Ash: Are you kidding me?! Pikachu, use thunderbolt on them! (Pikachu uses thunderbolt on the grunts following them and they were sent blasting off again. Swellow continues to fly as fast as it could, but when they got to the final part of the Wave Ocean full of sandy beaches, Swellow stopped flying and lands.) Looks like you're tired. Sorry if it made you exhausted. (Swellow smiles and understood what its task was.) You did good Swellow, now get a good rest.
The music ends and after Ash returned Swellow to its Pokéball, the battleship flies away as Ash, Max, Pikachu and Munchlax watch it. A feather falls down from the sky which Ash picks up. It looks like one of the feathers from Amelia's dress.
Max: It looks like the Princess was taken to another location. Let's head back to the city.
Ash: Good idea. Let's call Amelia's Lady-in-Waiting to pick us up.
He clutches the feathers and they begins to wait for her, and after she picked them up minutes later, they make their way back to the city.
Max: Sorry we couldn't save her.
Amelia's Lady-in-Waiting: It's okay. You can try again when we find her location.
The boat continues head to Madera Castle Town.
Meanwhile, Gary and Misty are in the forest about to head to Kingdom Valley.
Gary: You ready to see your sisters again?
Misty: Yes. Let's go.
He smiles as Gary released his Fearow and they hopped on to find Misty's sisters.
