(Author's Note: Hello my readers and welcome to another…"unique" installment of mine. I'll be explaining down below, so I won't waste time here.

Hope you guys enjoy:)

So…this is yet another example of something that came to me that I just HAD to put out somewhere. So just…bare with me for a bit.

"Ben 10" is one of my favorite franchises of all time and one of the shows that DEFINED my childhood. And, like every Ben 10 fan, it was always a dream of mine to wield the Omnitrix myself.

I've recently checked out a few videos on YouTube about people making their own personal Ben 10 "Playlist" of ten aliens that they would want to have (obviously, every Ben 10 fan would love to have a fully unlocked Omnitrix with access to every alien that Ben can become…but ten is a good choice to represent the original series). And…it got me thinking: if I could have an Omnitrix with any ten of Ben's aliens, what would they be?

That's what this is going to be. My chosen list of ten aliens, as well as why I chose them out of the sixty-three aliens that Ben has unlocked (sixty-six if you count Snakepit, Sandbox, and Shellhead, all of whom never physically appeared in the shows themselves…and I don't think those "stage aliens" are canon:/). I hope that you'll at least find this interesting.

Let's go ahead and get started.

1. Jetray

I feel like every Ben 10 fan's alien Playlist should have specific aliens that serve a specific purpose. And Jetray fulfills two of these specific purposes. These "archetypes", if you will.

For starters, he can fly. You definitely want a flyer in your personal Playlist for (what should be) obvious reasons. I find Jetray to be, objectively, the best choice because he's Ben's fastest-flying alien. He can fly faster than light by entering hyperspace (likely being able to cross galaxies in minutes) and can even survive in outer space…which is a good addition to the Playlist as well.

The second archetype Jetray fulfills? He's an aquatic breather. You definitely want to have an alien that can survive underwater and Jetray only adds that to his already impressive arsenal (which includes enhanced strength and his Neuroshock blasts).

2. XLR8

While Jetray was the best choice for a flier, you definitely need someone who can move fast on land…and you really don't have a better choice than Ben's OG speedster alien: XLR8.

He's EASILY one of Ben's fastest transformations. Near his peak, he can move so fast that not only does he appear invisible to human eyes but time itself looks frozen from his perspective. And that was back in the Classic Series, where Ben (logically) should have been at his weakest compared to the other shows.

(There's a surprising amount of hate toward Fasttrack, Ben's other speedster. I'll admit, I CAN see why he's viewed as less favorable than XLR8. A lot of Ben's "UFA" era aliens are similar to his originals but also different. Echo Echo can duplicate like Ditto but also has a sonic scream that can be utilized in multiple different ways, Humungousaur is super strong like Four Arms but can instantly increase his size and strength, and other examples. As far as we've seen, however, Fasttrack is not only slower than XLR8 but doesn't have any unique abilities to set him apart. Although I don't agree with the Fasttrack hate, and actually like his design more than XLR8, I can see why people think him a bit redundant…and I still would prefer XLR8/)

3. Grey Matter

An intelligent alien is the next archetype I find necessary in an Omnitrix Playlist. As we've seen throughout the franchise, you can't just muscle your way through every problem in your path. And…in my personal experience? You'll be able to do much more with brains over brawns.

I find Grey Matter to be the best choice by far, as he's considered to be Ben's smartest alien. This is a pretty impressive deal when you consider the fact another intelligent alien, Brainstorm, is said to have an IQ of "One Nonillion" (that's a "1" with thirty "0s", BTWs). And Grey Matter is STILL considered to be smarter. If you were to combine the IQs of literally EVERY human being on Earth (8.2 billion, as of the time that I write this), that would no doubt still end up less than even half of Grey Matter's IQ. Combined with his small stature allowing for greater stealth and maneuverability than our normal bodies, there's no doubt as to why he's such a great choice.

4. Swampfire

This choice is a very important archetype that's focused on by both Ben in the shows and us in the real world: the muscle.

Admittedly, Swampfire is an odd choice for the dead-fast "warrior" of my Playlist (the one that'd be the most likely to appear during any combat). When it comes to "super-strong" aliens in Ben's arsenal, I feel like Four Arms and Humungousaur would be the first two that come to mind. There are also plenty of other options for muscle, including Armodrillo, Rath, and even Diamondhead and Kickin Hawk would be good combat choices.

Why Swampfire? Because he's MORE than just strength.

Swampfire IS super strong, best shown when he tipped over one of the DNAliens' weather towers in Alien Force's first season. But he's my chosen option because (unlike a lot of Ben's strength/combat-based aliens) he has a lot of extra powers. For starters, he's a Pyrokinetic which earns a lot of extra points with me because I LOVE fire creatures (whenever I played Pokémon, my team just wouldn't feel right with a Fire-Type). He's also a powerful Chlorokinetic, giving him another powerful and diverse skillset. And, to top it all off, he also possesses a healing factor that would even impress Deadpool. When Vilgax returned in Alien Force, four aliens escaped from the Omnitrix when Ben and Kevin tried to hack into it. Chromastone, Spidermonkey, Goop, and Way Big. Ben fought Goop as Swampfire and was sliced into LITERAL pieces…and put himself back together good as new in mere seconds.

So…Swampfire may not be AS strong as other aliens, but he's got Pyrokinesis, Chlorokinesis, and VERY powerful Regeneration. A pretty good choice for my "Warrior Form" if I do say so myself.

5. Atomix

This choice represents something that I don't see on other people's Playlists, but think should be included: the Trump Card. The Ace-In-The-Hole. The form that's made to be used in an "All Else Fails" type of scenario.

Why is Atomix the best choice for this? Because he's more powerful than almost every other alien in the Omnitrix. Stronger than Way Big (who can destroy planets), Gravattack (who can create black holes that can swallow entire solar systems), and Feedback (who can absorb and redirect the energy of a literal Big Bang).

Some of you might be wondering why I would choose the 2nd most powerful alien in the Omnitrix? If it's about having a powerful "Last Resort" form, why not go all out and choose Alien X? Simply put? Alien X's cons outweigh the pros.

Alien X is Ben's most powerful transformation by FAR. By being able to turn into him, there's almost nothing I couldn't do and almost nothing that could harm me. But it would leave me trapped with Bellicus and Serena. They've been stalemating for millions of years and would REFUSE to let go of a third party. They outright prevented Ben from turning back to normal in the form's debut and Professor Paradox spoke of a timeline where Albedo turned into Alien X and was trapped like that for over a year. There's a LOT of pros to have Alien X, but I find that it's outweighed by the cons.

So…for a super powerful form to use as a last resort, I find Atomix to be the best choice.

6. Upgrade

Next up isn't a specific "archetype", but, rather, a form that I think would be practical to have: Upgrade.

We live in a very "high-tech" world, which grows more technologically advanced with each passing day. Having a form that's a Technopath would be incredibly useful, but Ben doesn't seem to have a SPECIFIC technopathic form.

Next best choice? Upgrade, who can merge with and enhance any form of technology. With this one form, you pretty much have dominion over all forms of tech (including turning anything from a phone to a car into a weapon). Hell, Upgrade means that I'd win just about any fight that includes technology. Very versatile and VERY powerful.

7. Ghostfreak

Next up is (considered by Ben) one of the scariest and most dangerous aliens in the Omnitrix: Ghostfreak. The simplest reason as to why I choose Ghostfreak? Every situation can't be muscled through or obliterated via elemental powers and needs a…"quieter" touch. Sometimes you gotta choose to act like Batman instead of Superman.

And Ghostfreak? In my opinion, he's the ULTIMATE stealth alien. He can turn invisible, intangible, and even possess bodies. If you do have to go in quiet, you can't get better than a literal ghost.

(I toyed with Big Chill for a time, as he's one of my personal favorite aliens. He's also a fast flier and a powerful Cyrokinetic. But he can't turn invisible, so he's "lesser" as a preferred stealth option)

8. Chromastone

My next choice for my Playlist is none other than Chromastone.

The primary reason for this choice? Energy Absorption. Chromastone can absorb nearly any form of energy (from electricity to mana and electromagnetic radiation to cosmic energies) and turn it against the attacker. And, given the fact that he absorbed an attack from the Dagon (a god-like comprised of pure energy that doesn't even originate from the same dimension), I find it VERY unlikely that anything could prove too much for Chromastone to absorb and control. Combined with super strength (apparently greater than Swampfire) and durability, as well as the ability to fly, and I'm confident in Chromastone's placement on my Playlist.

9. Clockwork

To be quite blunt, I find Clockwork to be one of the ULTIMATE "Hax Aliens".

He can LITERALLY control time itself. Slowing it down, speeding it up, and stopping it, accelerating the age of anything, viewing what has occurred in the past, and even traveling through time outright (I don't think Ben has ever done this but he SHOULD be able to since Maltruant was able to do it).

I mean…I don't really feel like I need to justify myself here. It's a transformation that can control TIME. If you mastered Clockwork, you'd be nearly unbeatable.

10. Wildmutt

And, last but certainly not least, we have Wildmutt and he represents what I believe to be the most important feature of all. Some people have specific archetypes that they find important in their Ben 10 Playlists, such as something who can fly and something strong to send out in combat. There are also personal choices that we might think would be smart to have in a real-life setting, such as a stealth alien and something that can interfere with technology. But Wildmutt (for me) represents what I find to be the most IMPORTANT thing to consider about this type of list: fun.

You heard me…fun. I feel like in a Ben 10 Playlist (and other similar lists), there should always be at least ONE form that there's just for fun. Not something with a move set that would be smart or practical to have. A form that's only there because the user in question (in this case, me) just wants to change in that form. That's Wildmutt for me. I've been a fan of the Vulpimancer transformation ever since I first saw the original series. Hell, I can say that he's my favorite of the OG aliens (as in, Ben's first ten transformations in the original series) due to his appearance and primal nature. It also seems like it would be fun to go to some large open field, turn into Wildmutt, and just…run.

(The funny part is that Wildmutt would actually be VERY difficult for me to use, seeing as how Wildmutt literally HAVING NO EYES:/)

Like I said, I feel like everyone who makes a Ben 10 Playlist should have at least one form just because. It's a fun concept to think about and we should have fun making these up.

So…yeah. Thus ends my Ben 10 Alien Playlist. Thanks if you stuck around till the end.

(Author's Note: Annnnnnnnnnd…we're done!

Like I said, this is something that came to mind after watching a few YouTube videos on the subject and I just HAD to get it out somewhere. I intend to have a more "proper" fanfic posting later in the week.
