Inside the boss chamber, Sonic found more blocks of molten rock, plus a big platform made of rock with little fire pits in it. He hopped across the molten rock blocks to reach the platform. But suddenly, Sonic heard a loud rumbling sound and felt the ground shaking. "Whoa! What's happening? Am I too late? Is the volcano going to explode?" He exclaimed in horror. But Sonic saw no signs of the volcano exploding. He did, however, see a snake-like dragon with flame like hair rising out of one of the fire pits. "So, you're Volvagia, huh?" Sonic said with fused determination. "I think it's time to put you in a place where you can't eat any more gorons. You don't eat hedgehogs, right?" Volvagia's only response was a roar and Sonic had to roll out of the way to avoid being scorched by his fire breath. Volvagia snaked his way into a fire pits while Sonic readied his megaton hammer. When Volvagia popped his head out of one of the fire pits, Sonic bashed him with the megaton hammer over and over until he was slayed. Volvagia roared in pain and collapsed into pieces. "Now that's a quick slay," Sonic said to himself with a chuckle. The fire pit that Volvagia had come out of just before his defeat transformed into a cool blue portal that Sonic stepped in.
Outside, in Kakariko Village, Pushy and Epona saw the volcano explode, but without Volvagia, the dark clouds parted to reveal the sunny blue sky. Sonic had saved the gorons once again. "Wow," said Pushy. "Good job, Sonic."
Inside, in the Chamber Of The Sages, Sonic saw Scarlet Scorch appeared with a smile on her face. "Thank you, brother," she said. "I really appreaciate what you did back there."
"You're welcome," said Sonic. "Are you the Sage of Fire?"
"Yes, I am," replied Scarlet Scorch. "It's funny that I get to be the Sage of Fire. Well, I guess that's what you like to call destiny. And I'm proud to be a part of yours. Nothing would make me happier than sealing the evil here." Sonic shared a wink. "Sonic, please take this," said Scarlet Scorch, handing him the fire medallion. "It is a symbol of our friendship." Sonic placed the fire medallion around his neck. Now Scarlet Scorch was a sage and her power was added to his.
