Disclaimer: I do not own Spider-Man: The Animated Series or anything else you may recognize

Finished re-watching Spider-Man: The Animated Series recently. It is a great cartoon for the most part, though I really don't like the Peter/MJ romance much here. I don't think version of MJ is the worst, though she can be flaky and petty, and I don't wish bad things on her, but I also don't like her and Peter as a couple.

Peter and Felicia had a much better and well-written romance with depth than Peter and MJ in this show. Though, like I said, this MJ isn't the worst IMO, even if I'm not a fan of her. She just needs therapy first due to her abandonment issues with her dad, plus Anna Watson being a piece of work, then she'll be fine.

Then there's comics MJ and Insomniac MJ who deserve to burn in Hell. If they tried therapy, their therapist would need a therapist.

'Spectacular' MJ is amazing though, really love her, even if I preferred Peter/Gwen in that show but I wouldn't have minded Peter/MJ either. 'Spectacular' is still my favorite Spider-Man cartoon, with this 90s one on second.

In this one-shot, I'll try to explain some inconsistencies with Captain America, and also refer to what's gonna happen in X-Men '97, which is a fantastic follow-up IMO, other than the Magneto/Rogue/Gambit BS (*vomits breakfast out*), and Scott having an emotional affair with Madelyne (comics Cyclops would totally do that, but I found it very OOC for this version of him).

Enjoy.

The Beyonder looked down on Earth, as he sensed Madame Web appearing next to him.

"He has been victorious in the battle, hasn't he?" The Beyonder asked, Madame Web nodding at that.

"Yes, and he used what was most important. It was not his strength and powers", Madame Web said with a smile, before noticing what Beyonder was looking at. "You changed some things, didn't you?"

"Like I said, I'd put them back in their rightful places on Earth, and I did not think the vortex was Captain America's rightful place", The Beyonder revealed to her. "I always found humans curious, especially their concepts of good and evil. But after seeing Spider-Carnage, I can see why evil is to be fought. And outside of Spider-Man, I believe Captain America is the greatest force of good against great evil."

"I agree", Madame Web nodded. "Besides, in other Universes I've been to, he is usually frozen in ice and found after a few decades. This Universe needs him too."

"Indeed. So while putting him back, I put him at the time period when he and Red Skull were going to end up back in the vortex. This time, only Red Skull and Electro were trapped", the Beyonder revealed what he had changed. "Captain America and the Six American Warriors were recognized world-wide for their bravery in stopping the Red Skull's plot. The Six American Warriors retired happily after this and were set up for the rest of their lives. Captain America was made an offer by both Nick Fury and Tony Stark that they'd give him anything he needs."

"And now, it looks like they've made a team", Madame Web said, looking at the newly formed Avengers of this Earth. "The Avengers. Just like in other Universes."

"Except Peter and Mary Jane when he finds her, no one will remember the previous timeline", Beyonder told her, then said ominously. "The X-Men are still dealing with the loss of their Professor, who is with the Shi'ar Empire now."

"They are really going to go through a lot, aren't they?" Madame Web inquired.

"They are. The boundaries between what is right and wrong will be blurred too. They will have to be at their best to get through this threat", Beyonder said. "But for now, I believe my work with this Universe is done."

"Indeed, and I should pick up Spider-Man as well", Madame Web agreed, the two going their separate ways for now.

This takes place when Spider-Man is swinging Stan Lee around in the Universe where the actor playing Spider-Man came from.

Anyways, hope what I said about Cap here made sense.

There is also the timeline inconsistency regarding when Peter is looking for MJ, since that's apparently in 1998, while he has the real MJ back in X-Men '97.

I'm thinking the gap between Seasons 3 and 4 of Spider-Man: TAS is not huge, a few weeks at best, so both the Seasons take place in 1996, and the final one in early 1997, and it finishes up before X-Men '97 begins, and its at least a few months, so enough time for Cap to be a member of the Avengers and be a well-known hero in present day.

Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with some other update.
