Feeling the covers moving, I opened my eyes and saw Dakota was sitting up, rubbing his head. "You okay?" I asked as I sat up as well, holding the covers up to my chest as to try to keep warm.
"You're... going to have to go back to Earth soon." He said, looking out the window. "Someone is going to need your help, and that someone will make you mad at first." He said as he looked at me. "But just know, their story is a similar one to the one known as Wolverine, but they aren't angry but afraid." He said as he got out of bed and was covered in black smoke, then wearing his robe.
"When do I leave? And for how long?" I asked as I got up and stretched my arms, closing my eyes as I did.
"Welcome back Miss Maximoff." I heard, with me opening my eyes to find that I was back in my bed on Earth, inside the shack. Looking around, I saw no one was here. "Mr. Star installed me while you were away. Should I call him?" The voice said, with me shaking my head as I walked over to my closet and opened it, showing an and black top that did nothing to cover the shoulders. There was a red cape to it that would do the job for it, with it going down to the waist. The legs were more or less black leggings that also connected to the high heels. Over all, the design had a Romanian feel to it, a call back to my origins.
"No thank you... I have my own mission I must do." I said as I grabbed the clothing.
"Does it have anything to do with the person who has been setting up traps outside of the house?" The voice asked, with me looking up at the corner, where I could tell that I was being watched by whoever this voice was.
"Any chance of you being able to show me who this individual is?" I asked, followed by a TV coming out of the wall and playing a video of a man setting up a trap.
"I'm sorry, but I am unable to get a positive ID, his face has yet to be revealed." It said, with me nodding as I would just go to said trap and investigate it for myself.
"I will deal with it myself." I said as I got ready to leave.
"I'm afraid that it has been taken care of already, by one Camila Noceda and her daughter, Luz Noceda." It said, with me stopping at what I just heard.
"What?" I asked, looking up at the corner and then the TV, where I watched as Camila and Luz freed an animal that was trapped. "Freeze and zoom in on Luz!" I ordered, with it doing just that. Right away, I could tell that this was a shapeshifter of some sort, and it made me mad that someone was going around pretending to be Luz.
Then I remembered his words. "Someone is going to need your help, and that someone will make you mad at first." He said as he looked at me. "But just know, their story is a similar one to the one known as Wolverine, but they aren't angry but afraid." I recalled, with me leaving the room and going to the bathroom to change. This needed to be taken care of and fast.
Later
Flying up to the window of Luz's room, I opened it, with the Fake Luz screaming at the sudden action. Landing inside, I crossed my arms. "So... Enjoying your new life, Imposter?" I asked, with her gulping.
"You!" We both heard, with us looking at the mirror and seeing Luz through the other side of it. She wasn't here physically, but magically. I didn't know what she did to get here, but it was impressive nonetheless.
"Luz?" I asked, grabbing the imposter as she tried to run.
"So you can hear me." Luz said in shock as she looked at us.
"You're from the Demon Realm!" The imposter yelled as she tried to get away.
"Listen, we just wanna—"
"I'm not going back! I—I won't go back!" She yelled as she kicked to try to get away from me.
"Luz? ¿Está todo bien?" Camila asked from the other side of the door.
"Sí, Mama! I just saw a spoiler from Monster Slayer Academia!" Luz said, with Camila walking away.
"Now, I'm not here to take you back to the Demon Realm." I said as the imposter looked at me. "A mutuel friend of ours sent me here to help you, something is going to happen, and it's bad." I said as I placed my hands on her shoulders. "He told me enough so that I wouldn't lose my head over you posing as Luz, though I didn't know about that until after I got back." I said as I looked at Luz. "Now, you're running low on Magicules... you can't regenerate your mana." I said as I did a quick look on her.
"How did you know?" She asked, looking shocked.
"I'm a Witch of Earth, and I've spent plenty of time with witches from the Demon Realm to know when one is low on magic. I know that you don't want to go back, but if you want to keep this up you will need to go back." I said, lifting her head up once she lowered it.
"Wait!" Luz said, with me looking at Luz. "I didn't mean to freak you out. I just want to figure out what's going on, okay? You're a demon from the Boiling Isles, aren't you?" Luz asked, with the girl nodding her head. "What's your name?" He asked with a smile.
"I'm Number F—I mean, I'm Vee." Vee said, with me remembering that Logan had a similar name, Weapon X. "You must be Camila's real daughter." She said, with me standing behind her and placing my hands on her shoulders, rubbing them as to help calm her.
"I am. But right now, I'm trapped in the Boiling Isles. Who are you, why are you pretending to be me?" Luz asked, tilting her head a bit.
"I am... just looking for a place to belong." She said, and I could relate with that, most of us could. "You're missing and mom... I mean, Camila seemed so kind, so I stayed with her but uh, I'll go if you..."
"Wait, wait, wait!" Luz said as she waved her hands at us. "Maybe we can help each other! Today I was gonna tell my mom where I've been, but because of you, she hasn't realized that I've been missing! So, keep living in my place! For now. When I get back, I can introduce her to the Demon Realm and help you find a place to live." She suggested, with me smiling at her.
"She will have a place, I promise you that." I said as she looked up at me.
"There's one problem. I need magic to transform and I'm, uh... getting low on it." Vee explained her situation.
"I have an idea on where we can get some magic." I said, with them looking at me. "While I was searching for Eda and Dakota, before I made my way there, I looked around here for anything that would point me towards them. I found evidence that Eda was here." I said, where I looked at Luz.
"She might have left some magic stuff behind!" Luz said as she figured out what I was getting at.
"Okay! We can try." Vee said, where I held out a hand mirror.
"Think you can make your way here?" I asked, with Luz nodding. "Good, I will meet you downstairs, I have to go out the window, or Camila might get mad at me for breaking and entering." I said as I flew out the window after opening it.
Later
In the cozy kitchen, Camila and I sat across from each other, sipping on mugs of warm tea. The air was filled with a sense of familiarity and comfort as we waited for "Luz" to come down.
Camila, with a gentle smile, looked at Wanda and said, "It's so wonderful to see you again, Wanda. Your visits always bring a touch of magic to our humble home." Camila said, making me smile as she had no idea what she was living with.
"Thank you, Camila. It's always a pleasure to visit you, and I can't wait to meet Luz." I said, getting a chuckle from her.
Camila's expression softened as she looked at her daughter, who was currently entering the room. "Yes, and it's been a challenging time for Luz recently. She's been through a lot, but she's a strong girl. I trust that she will find her way." She said, with me nodding as she would, both of them.
My gaze lingered on Vee, a mixture of empathy and determination in my eyes. "I understand, Camila. If you don't mind, I would like to spend some time with Luz today. If you wouldn't mind?" I asked, knowing that any sane mother wouldn't let their child go with someone else without permission.
Camila nodded, a sense of trust and understanding passing between us. "I trust your judgment, Wanda. Please take care of Luz today. Just be sure to return before dark." She said, with me finishing my drink before standing up.
As I prepared to depart with Vee by her side, I turned to Camila once more, a solemn expression on my face. "Thank you, Camila, for your trust and friendship. I will look after her. You have my word." I said, where Camila stood up and approached me.
Camila placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder, her eyes filled with gratitude and hope. "I believe you, Wanda." She said with a smile, one I returned. With a final nod of acknowledgment, Vee and I set off.
Later
"Robin's Roast Cafe." I said, opening the door for Vee, who walked in first.
"Is this it?" Vee asked as I stepped in and closed the door behind me, looking around.
"Yes." I said as I walked up to the counter.
"Maybe they still have one of her enchanted pastries!" Luz said from the mirror.
"Hello again, Miss Maximoff! Your usual?" The shopkeeper asked, with me shaking my head at her. "What can I get ya?" She asked as she handed a customer his drink.
"Remember that "magical" old lady, Marylin?" I asked, with her nodding. "She leave any "enchanted" items here?" I asked, with her groaning.
"Ugh, you're not talking with that witch-obsessed guy, right? I told him to stop leaving pamphlets here!" She said as she crossed her arms.
"No, but I will make a mental note of him, with me being a witch and all." I said, with her nodding her head. "Did she do or leave anything behind from the last time she was here?" I asked, with her thinking about it.
"Yeah, she tried to pay for a latte with a live raccoon a couple of months ago. But when I called the cops, she did something weird to the croissants." She said as she picks up a croissant with a pair of tongs. "We threw 'em in the trash but... Well, now we have a whole new problem." She said with a sigh.
"Thank you." I said as I lead Vee with me outside, taking her out back to investigate.
"I don't... smell any magic." Vee said as she sniffed the air. Suddenly, there were hissing sounds.
Two rats with glowing red eyes emerge from behind two boxes, looking at us. "Bread of wisdom grants us speech. We desire more!" One of them spoke, where I used my magic to hold them in place.
"Cool! Talking rats! Maybe they know something." Luz suggested, with me bringing one of them closer.
"I shall grant you more, if you answer my questions." I offered as I made said bread appear, though it was not laced with Magic like Eda had done. Just simple bread, that was all. "With your nose, you have a good sense of smell, correct?" I asked, with it hissing at me, then looking at the bread.
"Yes... Bread had similar smell to this, but not the same." It said, looking back at me with narrowed eyes.
"Can you find the smell? That was from the bread that you ate?" I asked, with it looking at the bread. I gave it to the other one, with it eating, and then making another one. "Well?" I asked, with it looking back at me.
"The girl across the way has paper that smells the same. She be the one you seek for answers." It said, where I gave it the bread and set them down.
"Thank you for your time." I said as I walked away with Vee.
"How are you so calm about that?" Vee asked as she followed close to me.
"With how much I have seen, what I've done, it's become numb to me. Hardly anything surprises me anymore." I answered as we walked across the street, with me looking at everyone as they ran or walked in the park. "It's like a needle in a haystack." I said as I held the mirror out so Luz could see.
"There!" She said, with me facing three high schoolers hanging out together under a tree, laughing. One of which was holding a deck of Hexes Hold'em card. "Hexes Hold'em cards! Eda got rid of all her decks. I was wondering where they went." She said, making me smile at that.
"Well, they must've run out of magic, I don't... smell anything." Vee said as she sniffed the air.
"But maybe they know where to get more! Okay, we gotta be careful approaching high schoolers. Mark all your exit routes-"
Vee laughed, catching Luz off guard. "Actually, these guys are cool." She said as she starts walking towards the high schoolers.
"Ah! Wait, hey!" Luz called out as I stayed behind and watched.
"She adapted to her new surroundings." I said as we watched as Vee stops in front of them and kneels down. "Must be her friends." I said with a smile.
"Oh, she's gonna embarrass herself! I can't watch!" Luz said from the mirror as I shook my head at her embarrassment. It was like watching a child make friends in her first years of school. They did this weird chant thing before the girl lays down three cards on the ground. This caught my attention. Using my magic, I zoomed in on the cards with my sight. The first shows a crescent moon as the whitespace of an abstract sideways face. The second shows a skeleton with a golden chalice, and the third shows a fish with two Y-shaped arrows behind it.
Moving closer, I heard what was said. "You're running from your past. From a previous life that was not kind to you. However, the guilt and fear you carry will eventually catch you in a self-fulfilling prophecy that you won't be able to escape from." She said, with it being right. Vee makes a nervous noise. Her hands are shown trembling. "You're gonna need some bath bombs, girl." She said, where I cleared my throat, with all of them looking at me in shock.
"Impressive reading, you can make a name for yourself with that alone." I said, smirking at them.
"No. Way... THE Wanda Maximoff! What are you doing here?" The girl asked as they all stood up.
"Spending the day with Luz here." I said as I looked at her. "I became friends with her mother while she was at camp. I take it that is where you all met?" I asked, with them nodding their heads slowly, still stuck in awe. "May I ask where you received your cards from? I'm looking for a shop to broaden my horizons." I said, with the girl nodding her head.
"I got the cards over at the Gravesfield Historical Society." She said as she pointed at the direction of the shop.
"Thanks. We'll see you around!" Vee said with a wave as she grabbed my hand and started running in that direction.
Later
Entering the Gravesfield Historical Society building, I instantly had a bad feeling. Vee sniffs, then quietly sneezes. "Is it that dusty in here?" Someone said as they came from behind the counter. "Welcome to the Gravesfield Historical Society. Lemme guess, you're here to buy those weird cards, right?" He asked with a smile.
"How did you know?" Vee asked, shocked at the fact that he knew why we were here.
"Well, they've been really popular with high schoolers. Yeah, saw an old lady try to dump 'em in a river a while back, but I bought them off her instead. Was really odd though, she kept asking for "snails"." He said, with me knowing that it was Eda.
"This is it!" Luz said, though only I heard her. I put the mirror in my pocket, keeping it open for her to listen.
"You want a set?" He asked, with Vee nodding.
"Yes, please!" She said eagerly.
"Well, I'll be just a minute, so feel free to look around." He said, where he enters a door labelled STAFF. We walked into the Historical Society's museum and stood opposite of a framed painting of a flag.
Luz appeared in the framed reflection. "Are you okay? Hey, forget what that girl said! I know what it's like to run away from home. I did the same thing." Luz said as Inplaced my hands on her shoulders and rubbed them.
"You and I are not the same. You had a mom who loved you, a home, a life, you had it good! And you still wanted to run away, I... I didn't have a choice. My real name is... Number Five. I'm a basilisk, and technically, I... I shouldn't exist." She said, where I wrapped my arms around her, giving her a hug.
"I know one person who has the say so if you should exist or not. If he doesn't want you to exist, he would have removed you himself. He hasn't, so he knows the good that you are meant to do." I said, with me remembering what Eda had told me, about how he killed the Golden Guard out of anger and just brought him back, and gave him the key. "He knows more than he lets on, and he keeps it to himself. It's almost like he sees everything at once and makes sure that everyone is safe. He has plans for everyone, and why wouldn't he... After all, he is Death. He is playing chess and doing his best not to lose anyone. We are his pieces and he is the player. In the end, he wants to take out Belos, and then it will come to the time that he has to stop Apocalypse." I said as I remembered the prophecy's that he is apart of. "One thing I do know, is that Luz is his King piece, I am his Queen. Eda and King are his Knights. Hooty and Lilith are his bishops. He has his Rooks hidden from me, I can't figure out who they are, but they are probably the most important pieces on the board." I said, knowing that Luz had so many questions but I could not answer them.
Vee sniffs, then walks towards the room labelled STAFF. I followed, with the room being strangely pitch black. As soon as she entered, I followed, only as soon as I did, it felt like everything I had was sapped away from me. "Where's the light?" Vee asked just as it hit the ground. She gasps, then the light came on. Multiple weapons were on display such as a sword, drill and an axe.
Looking above the door, I saw a rune etched in the wall, This was made to prevent Chaos Magic from entering, by sealing it and the user's strength. "Luz... Get help!" I said as I grabbed the mirror, only to find that it broke on my fall. Hearing a scuffle, I knew that Vee was in trouble. Looking up, I saw the man tying her up and stuffed her in a cage. 'Charles... HELP!?' I yelled in my mind, praying that he was using Cerebro. Those were my last thoughts before I was kicked in the face, knocking me out.
Same time, Charles Xavier POV
I sat in the dimly lit chamber of Cerebro, the expansive device humming softly around me. I focused my thoughts, allowing the intricate web of psychic energy to expand beyond the confines of the X-Mansion, seeking out the faint signatures of new mutants. Each pulse of energy brought a surge of hope; each new life represented the possibility of growth, both for the individuals and for the future of mutantkind.
But as I delved deeper, something unexpected broke through the static of the psychic realm. A familiar voice, filled with urgency and desperation, pierced through the noise. "Charles... HELP!?" The plea echoed in my mind, resonating with a sense of dread that sent chills down my spine. Before I could respond, the connection severed, leaving a void where her presence had been.
"Wanda…" I whispered to myself, my heart racing. I quickly recalibrated Cerebro, focusing on the faint trace I had felt. With a few deft movements, I honed in on her last known location. My mind raced with concern. Wanda was powerful but unpredictable, and the circumstances surrounding her call for help left me deeply unsettled. Taking a deep breath, I calmed myself. Rash thoughts would not help me find her. There was only one place she could be right now, her search had taken her there once before. Taking Cerebro off, I knew exactly where she was.
"Storm, I need you in the War Room!" I said, my voice firm yet laced with urgency as he powered down Cerebro. Turning around, I left the room and made my way towards the War Room. Once there, I pulled up the map of the area. Within moments, Ororo Munroe, known as Storm, entered the room, her presence commanding and calming at once.
"What is it, Charles?" She asked, concern weaving through her tone.
"Wanda reached out to me for help… but the connection was lost. I believe she's in danger. We need to assemble a team to find her!" I explained, my brow furrowed in concentration as I turned to face her.
"Then let us not waste time." She replied, her resolve evident. I began to think of who would be best suited for the mission. He needed individuals who could handle the unpredictable nature of magic and power that Wanda wielded.
"Logan, I need you!" I said as the grizzled mutant entered the room. Wolverine nodded, his expression serious but ready. "I've narrowed down where Wanda is, but I can't get a good position. Your tracking skills will be needed, and if things get rough..." I left it hanging as I didn't want it to come to that.
"Count me in, Chuck. I'll track her down." He stated, claws unsheathing with a satisfying snikt. I needed a familiar face, someone who could connect and control Wanda if things got bad, with her powers that is.
"Rogue, I want you to come along as well!" I added as I looked at the one person who was already in the room, having moved most of her research on Apocalypse in here as her station was now completely covered in notes.
The Southern belle was quick to step forward, determination glimmering in her eyes. "I'll do whatever it takes to help her. She's one of us." Rogue affirmed, her voice steady. Just then, Bobby entered the room with more books for Rogue.
"Bobby, you're on the team too. We might need your ice to help keep things under control if things get out of hand." I called out, and Iceman grinned.
"Nice! I'm in. Let's go save the day!" Bobby chimed in, the energy in the room lifting slightly in response to his enthusiasm.
"You leave at once, find her!" I ordered, with them making their way towards the door. As they prepared to leave, Polaris entered the War Room, her green hair bright against the muted tones of the room. Everyone stopped as they knew the relationship between her and Wanda, be that they are sisters, it is strained. She sensed something was off immediately. "What happened, Charles?" She asked, her eyes narrowing with concern.
"Wanda's in trouble. I have good reason to believe she's in a in Connecticut. I've assembled a team to find her." I explained quickly as the team moved past her.
"Then count me in." Polaris declared, stepping forward with resolve, shocking everyone. "I may not like her, but she is my sister. She made the effort to reach out to me, and I turned my back on her. So... let me go." She said, narrowing her eyes at me.
"Thank you, Lorna." I said, appreciating her willingness to join the mission. "Best of luck to you, My X-Men." I said, where they all left the room.
Later, Polaris POV
I stepped cautiously into the clearing, my senses heightened. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and pine needles. Logan, leading the way, came to a sudden halt.
"Hold up!" He said, his keen senses on high alert. "I've got her scent." He said, looking at the rest of us.
My heart raced as I strained to catch a whiff of what he had detected. Deep down, I felt a surge of hope, but it was tempered by the unease that flickered at the edges of my mind. We followed Logan's lead deeper into the woods, the trees gradually thinning until we broke through into a clearing that revealed a stunning house standing solitary in the moonlight.
"Wow." Iceman breathed, looking up at the modern architecture that seemed almost out of place in this secluded wilderness. The house was sleek, with sharp lines and large windows, but what caught my eye was the door. It was old, and looked to almost be dead, a stark contrast to the minimalist aesthetic of the rest of the house.
Logan moved closer, sniffing the air again. "Wanda was definitely here. Her scent is fresh." He confirmed, glancing at the door with a tinge of wariness.
"Do you think she's inside or on the other side?" Rogue asked, her voice low, echoing my own anxiety. The way she said it, was that they had been here before, and there was something about the door altogether.
"I don't know, but we can't waste time." Logan replied. "Let's check it out."
I felt a mix of excitement and dread swelling within me. "Be careful. This place feels… off." I cautioned, stepping closer to the door. As I reached for the ornate handle, I hesitated, the weight of the moment pressing down on me.
Feeling a hand on mine, I looked at Logan. "Let me." Logan said, taking a step forward. With a swift motion, he pushed the door open, revealing a dimly lit interior. The hallway beyond was lined with sleek furnishings and bright artwork, its ambiance warm yet eerily quiet.
"Wanda?" I called out, my voice echoing in the stillness. No response came, only the faint hum of electronics and the rustle of fabric somewhere deeper inside.
"I'm sorry, Miss Maximoff is not home at the moment." A voice spoke, with Logan extending his claws, Bobby making life maces out of his hands, and Rogue getting back to back with Logan. Storm and I were the only ones who didn't jump out of our skins.
"Can you tell us where she went?" I asked as I looked around. "I'm Lorna, her sister." I introduced as I expected someone to step out.
"I am a copy of the one known as JARVIS, Mr. Stark installed me to make sure that the house was properly maintained in Wanda's absence." JARVIS informed. "As for where Miss Maximoff is, she left to go see Camila Noceda, a friend of her who lives in town. She was very interested in her Daughter Luz Noceda." He informed, with everyone relaxing. "Is there a reason why you are looking for Miss Maximoff?" He asked, with Storm stepping up.
"We have it under good authority that Wanda is in danger, she reached out to Charles for help." She informed as she pointed at a camera in the corner of the hallway.
"Understood. Shall I contact the Avengers?" JARVIS asked, with Logan shaking his head.
"No, but if we don't come back, or if Wanda doesn't come back by the morning, call them." Logan said as he lead us outside, where we followed him.
Later
We made our way back through the woods until we finally emerged onto a narrow road. "Where exactly are we headed?" Rogue asked, glancing around.
"I'm guessing Camila's place, Wanda's friend." Logan replied. "Camila Noceda. She might know something about Wanda's whereabouts. Never heard of her." He said as he sniffed the air.
"Sounds good to me." I said, my resolve sharpening. "Let's hope she can help us." I said as I made a fist.
As we entered the town, the buildings were quaint and inviting, with warm lights spilling from windows. We quickly made our way to a modest home at the end of a quiet street. Logan knocked on the door, and it swung open to reveal Camila, her expression shifting from surprise to concern as she took in the group.
"The X-Men! What's going on?" She asked, looking at all of us.
"Camila Noceda?" Logan asked, with her nodding. "We need your help. It's about Wanda. She's in trouble." Logan stated, urgency in his voice.
Camila's eyes widened. "Wanda? What do you mean? Is she okay?"
"We're not sure." I interjected. "We followed her scent to a house in the woods, but she wasn't there. We think she might have come here." I said, hoping for some answers.
Camila furrowed her brow, thinking. "I know she was spending the day with Luz. They were going to check out the local sights, maybe grab some lunch. I didn't think anything was wrong." She said, with us frowning at that.
Suddenly, another voice spoke up. "Mom! Are you there? We need help!"
"Luz?" Camila asked, where we all rushed into the kitchen and saw the phone was on face time, though it didn't show the background of where she was. "What's wrong?" Camila asked, worry creeping into her tone.
"Wanda and a friend are in trouble!" She said, where she gasped once she saw us. "The X-Men!" She said in excitement.
"Focus, what happened to my sister!?" I questioned, snapping my fingers at the phone.
"Right! We went to check out the Gravesfield Historical Society building, but something bad happened... Wanda fell, there was a scuffle and I can't reach her!" Luz said, her voice was frantic, and I felt a chill run down my spine.
"Gravesfield Historical Society?" Logan repeated, his expression hardening. "Right, we will be right there."
"Stay on the line, Luz!" Camila urged, her expression resolute. "We're on our way. Just hold tight!"
"Let's move!" Logan commanded, leading the way as we rushed out of the house, following Camila in her car as she drove Logan there, as he was the only one who couldn't fly.".
Later
Arriving at the Gravesfield Historical Society building, Camila stepped out of the car with Logan as we landed next to them. Logan sniffed the air, then looked at us. "I'm getting Wanda alright, something else and one human. According to Luz, the other thing is her friend from the Demon Realm." Logan informed as he looked back at the building.
"Iceman, Polaris, make sure no one is caught in the crossfire! I will cover the building in a fog to hide our involvement. Rogue and Wolverine, you two will be the ones to go in." Storm said, with me stepping forward.
"Let me go in, she is my sister!" I said, with Storm looking at me.
"I'm sorry, but it would be best-"
"-if she goes in and I take her place." Rogue said, interrupting Storm. "I may know Wanda best, but seeing her sister would be best if she loses control." Rogue said as she placed a hand on my face for a second. "Trust us, she and Logan are best for the job." She said, pushing me forward.
"Alright." Storm said as she hovered in the air, with the area being covered in fog. "Stick close to Wolverine!" I heard Storm, with me following Logan. Once inside, I opened the door as it was locked. Logan sniffed the air, then lead me over to a door that said staff on it.
"Inside." He whispered. Cracking the door open, I saw that it was a room made of witch hunting material. From weapons to pictures to books on the Burning Witch Trials. I was disgusted at what I was seeing. In the middle of the room was a monster in a cage, and it was freaking out. Behind her, was my sister, in a straight jacket and a muzzle over her mouth, tied to a cross. She was out cold.
"Ok! Now for the dissection!" The man said, walking over to the cafe, where the monster curled up into a ball away from the man. I held my hand out, tore the cage apart and trapped the man inside before he could react. "What gives!?" He yelled, with us walking into the room.
"You're one crazy psycho, you know that?" Logan said as he grabbed him by his shirt and picked him up, extending his claws. "You want a dissection? How about we dissect you!" He threatened, with me looking at the monster as it moved away from us.
"Hey! It's ok!" I said as I held my hands up as I approached her. "Luz sent us, I'm Wanda's sister!" I said as I knelt down next to it. "My name is Lorna, but I go by Polaris... What's your name?" I asked, with her looking up at Wanda.
"V-Vee..." She said, her entire body was shaking like a leaf.
"Vee, we're the X-Men-"
Suddenly there was a loud clang, and when I turned around I saw Logan knocked the guy out by smacking his head against the bars. "Prick." He said as he walked over to us, looked at Vee and then Wanda. "Get her down before she wakes up, I don't want to deal with a PTSD attack from her." He ordered as he crossed his arms. Holding my hands out, I lifted Wanda up, using the metal buckles to do so. I brought her over to Logan, where he cut her free. He caught her, held her in his arms. "She took a heavy hit to the head, got to get her looked at!" He yelled as he ran out the door, with me staring at him as he left. Seeing a stack of glowing cards, I grabbed them.
"May I?" Vee asked, holding her hand out to me. Looking at the cards, I handed them to Vee... Where she started eating them.
"Come on, it's not safe here." I said, taking her hand in mine and leading her out of the room. Once outside, Camila looked on in shock as she saw Vee, who in turn looked disappointed to be seen.
Camila walked up to Vee, with me holding her hand. Vee braces in expectation that she would be hit, but Camila crouched down instead. "Hello... this is all so confusing, but... who knew I had such a strong girl living under my roof this whole time?" Camila said, where Vee was touched by that and starts to tear up.
I left them, with me going to check on Wanda. Once I was with the others, I saw Wanda was lying down in the back of the car, with Iceman holding his hand over her head, easing her pain. "How is she?" I asked, with everyone looking at me.
"No idea, she refuses to wake up, it's as if her mind isn't there, according to Chuck that is." Logan said, making me frown at his words. Suddenly, Wanda shot up, gasping. She looked at all of us, then pushed them aside as she got out of the car. She made her way towards me, and I held my arms out to her.
I was not ready for her to run past me. Looking behind me, I saw her rush over to Vee and hug her. It hurt, seeing her hug someone else instead of her own sister. They were both in a traumatic event, so it was only natural for her to check on Vee. We watched as they spoke to Luz, then Camila started crying, where Vee hugged her, one she returned.
Wanda walked back over to us, with her looking at each and every one of us. "Thank you, for coming as soon as you could." She said, where she pulled me into a hug, one that I did not try to resist. "Especially you, Lorna." She said, making me smile.
"What happened in there?" Logan asked, crossing his arms. "You could have taken him easy." He asked, narrowing his eyes.
"He had a rune set up, which sapped my magic away, as well as my energy. Once he set me on the cross, I was pushed out of my body and couldn't return to it. I was forced to fend off against spirits with no magic. Luckily, someone else's magic worked to protect me from such beings." He said, smiling.
"Strange?" Logan asked, with Wanda shaking her head.
"No, Deaths." She said, making everyone tense up.
"Why would she help you?" Rogue questioned, grabbing her cape and getting in her face. "She took my leg! I want to know!" She said, narrowing her eyes at her.
"That Death is gone, there's a new Death, one you know." Wanda said, shocking her. "Dakota, he is the new Death, and I've been staying with him and Luz in the demon realm." She said as she was let go. "To be more accurate, it's not the demon realm, but a planet, one that is far from Earth. With the portal being down, Luz can't return, and his magic doesn't work on her, or so he says." She said, crossing her arms. "He isn't apart of one prophecy but two, and right now he is working on the second one. All we know, is that this so called Day of Unity that is to come, he is a major part of it. Though, he treats Luz as if she is just as important or more so." She said, looking over at Camila and Vee. "Luz told them everything, and to be honest... I should have told her sooner." She said, looking away.
"Here." Rogue said, passing her a sheet of paper, confusing me on what it was. "From my research on his original prophecy." She said, where Wanda nodded.
"You are okay... right?" I asked, looking at her head, moving it to look at the wound.
"I'll be fine." Wanda said as she took my hand in hers. "Thank you for coming... it means a lot." She said, where she suddenly disappeared in black smoke. This scared me, I wasn't ready for her to just up and vanish like that. Though, something told me, that she was okay.
