Chapter 1
Shurikens Fly!
Quirks; everyone knows them. The mysterious phenomena that forced humans to evolve to an unimaginable degree, leading to the birth of villains and heroes. Humans, though; too focused on themselves, failed to notice that they weren't alone. In the midst of their discourse and growth, other organisms began to evolve alongside them.
Fire torched the surrounding cityscape, civilians looking on in awe as the massive villain terrorized the streets; his large form towering over most of the nearby buildings. He reared his shark-like head back, letting out a roar as he swung his arm; the nearby electricity tower being snapped in half, plummeting straight down. Down onto the civilians below. Screams and cries of fear were let out, the crowd bracing for an inevitable impact. But before what was expected to be carnage down below, the sound of creaking wood filled the air, followed by a large crack.
The debris was caught midair, long and thick branches of wood wrapped securely and tightly around it. Following up the branches was the Wooden Hero, Kamui Woods. He was straining as his branches held up the debris, before lifting them up and settling them down near the tracks nearby. "Illegal use of abilities during rush hour, as well as robbery and assault? You're pure evil!" The wooden man cried out, before leaping into the air and extending his branch-like arm out, wrapping around the villain's forearm. He swung himself up, and landed on a nearby support structure for the train tracks.
The hero raised up his right arm, splitting it into multiple long branches as he began to cry out. "Pre-emptive.. Binding.." He shot the branches forward, each one whipping around wildly as they prepared to ensnare the villain within his grasp. "Lacquered Chain Prison!" But before his attack could actually hit, a feminine voice called out seemingly from the sky. "Canyon Canon!" And just like that, a large foot collided into the villain's face, throwing him off the tracks and down into a building. The gigantic woman began to get up, her hands on her hips with a wide grin as she stared at the downed villain. It was the Giant Hero, Mt. Lady. Her costume was beige and purple, her gloves and boots being the same shade as the latter color. Each purple segment was accented with orange, and she wore a purple domino mask with horn-like protrusions on the side.
The other heroes and onlooking civilians looked on in shock, completely unexpecting the new hero. Mostly Kamui Woods, standing there in disappointment with his arm still split off into branches. "Huh?" Was all he could manage to let out. Multiple onlookers began to take several photographs, something the new hero indulged in. "Today is my debut, the name's Mt. Lady. Pleasure to make your.. Ass-quaintance." And with that, she arched her back to show off her way too tight uniform. Though in the middle of her showboating, she failed to notice the villain from before beginning to get back up. Kamui Woods reached out, attempting to pull her back with his branches, but she was simply too big. "Look out!" The wooden hero cried out, Mt. Lady looked back in shock and braced herself for the oncoming fist.
Only for a large splash of water to hit the villain in the face, causing him to rub his eyes in annoyance. "What the hell?!" But before anyone, villain, hero, or civilian saw where the water came from, a flash of blue jumped off of Mt. Lady's shoulder. What little could be seen of the figure under the light of the sun was something new to all of those around. The figure landed on the giant villain's face, sticking to him easily, and revealing more of this supposed vigilante. Its body was a light blue, circular pads at the end of its webbed hands and feet, as well as a light beige running up its torso and towards its mouth. Three protrusions stuck out of its head, light blue webbed between them. On its thighs was a blue X on each one, but its most prominent feature was what looked like the creature's tongue, wrapped around its face like a long and flowing scarf.
"Who is that?" Mt. Lady asked, before turning to Kamui Woods. "Don't know, but we should help him for now. We'll question him later.." He said with a glare, before Mt. Lady nodded. The mysterious figure reached down towards their thighs, the X marking glowing before it pulled out what appeared to be shurikens made of water from them. It tossed the liquid weapons into the villain's eyes, causing the giant to hold them in pain. The frog creature leaped up into the air, before diving back down with its foot out first. It kicked the villain's nose, causing him to fall backwards and bouncing the frog back up. Before the villain could land, Kamui Woods lashed his branches out, wrapping them around the villain with all his might before he could crush any civilians down below. "Watch it, new guy!" The hero called out, clearly straining as he tried to hold the villain. The frog merely shot him what looked like a glare, before flipping onto a nearby building.
Mt. Lady reached forward, grabbing onto the giant villain, though he was a bit smaller than her. Kamui Woods watched the civilians below evacuate, before releasing his bindings. "Now!" He yelled out to Mt. Lady. "On it! Now, let's try this one more time.." She said with a grin, pushing the villain back. She reared her head back, and slammed it into the villain's skull, all while crying out, "TITAN CLIFF!" The villain fell hard onto the streets below, debris raising into the air before falling back onto him. He was officially down for the count, and Mt. Lady smiled wide as she began to pose for the cameras once again. Kamui sighed as he watched her, crossing his arms. "Must you be so vain? Did you forget, we have a supposed vigilante to catch!" He yelled out to her, causing her to look down and sigh. "Whatever.. You can go deal with it. I need to deal with my debut first~" She said with a slight purr, continuing to pose. In the middle of the crowd below, there stood a green haired boy, freckles dotting his face as the messy mop on his head slightly hid it. He was writing something down in his notebook, muttering as he worked on sketches of Mt. Lady and Kamui, as well as the mysterious frog man from before.
He looked up from his journal, watching as Kamui Woods swung off nearby buildings and poles, yet he also noticed the frog man had completely vanished. He closed his journal with a wide smile, the front of it revealing the boy's name; Izuku Midoriya. Izuku nodded to himself, before making his way through the quickly dispersing crowd. "I can't be late for watching heroes at work again." Izuku said quietly to himself, making his way down the streets. He sighed as he looked ahead, what he thought was a personal hell for him. Aldera Junior High, Izuku's middle school. He sadly shifted through the halls, before making his way to his classroom. Izuku set his bag down next to his desk, preparing for an expectedly long day.
HOURS LATER
Izuku was right in his suspicions, as his childhood friend turned bully, Katsuki Bakugo decided to ruin his day. As if the boy's mere presence wasn't enough, someone outed that Izuku wanted to go to U.A., the top hero school that Bakugo also wishes to attend. Bakugo always looked down at Izuku for being quirkless, but the thought of Izuku even dreaming was taken as a personal insult. The ash-blonde met Izuku after class, his cronies behind him as they cornered Izuku. Bakugo swiped away Izuku's journal, mocking him for his interests before blowing it into a charred mess with his quirk, Explosion. But the last straw were the last things Bakugo said before leaving.
"If you wanna be a hero that badly, there's a quick way to do it. Believe you'll be a hero in your next life, and take a dive off the roof!" Those words echoed through the boy's head as he walked outside, fishing his now charred journal out of the pond Bakugo threw it in. "Idiot.. What would happen if I really did? You'd have caused a suicide! Then neither of us would ever get in U.A." Izuku muttered quietly to himself, holding up his journal. A faint smile tugged at the boy's lips as he looked at the cover, 'Maybe.. Maybe there's still some hope.' He thought to himself, before those hopes were washed away as something cold and slimy wrapped around his body. He looked down in shock, his eyes widening at the sight of purple slime engulfing him whole. The substance slightly burned and itched, causing Izuku to wince. Tears began to roll down the boy's eyes, and he looked behind him to see what appeared to be a toothless and shapeless mouth behind him; two beady eyes above it, the pupils being completely pitch black with white sclera. The mouth slightly hung agape as it spoke, wrapping around Izuku's. " Muukk.." The slime spoke out in a low tone.
Izuku's thoughts began to race, his hands desperately clawing away at the slime only to pull them back. Fighting against this supposed villain felt like touching poison ivy, and the sensation filling his mouth didn't help either. His thoughts began to race, his life flashing before his eyes. 'This is really it, isn't it? I'm sorry, mom. I'm sorry I couldn't make it.. And Kacchan? I hope you were right about one thing.' As the boy's body was soon enveloped from the neck below, a booming voice called out from the side, the manhole cover the creature presumably came from flying out. " It's all right now, young man.. FOR I AM HERE!" In an awesome display, the larger than life man flexed his muscles beneath his clothing. He reared his fist back, and yelled out with a roar, "TEXAS SMAASH!" And as his fist was thrown forward, the sheer wind pressure blew the slime creature away. Izuku looked on in awe, his hero; the number one hero in the world was right in front of him, All Might. Izuku soon fainted from excitement, kicking off his journey to follow in All Might's footsteps.
MEANWHILE, AFTER THE RUSH HOUR BATTLE
"Stop! Wait right there!" Kamui Woods said with heavy breaths, as he'd been chasing the mysterious frog man for at least an hour at this rate. The newcomer's movements were fast, something Kamui couldn't really wrap his head around. Sure, he had some sort of frog quirk, but water manipulation and agility like this? 'It's like he has multiple quirks!' Kamui thought to himself, desperately trying to keep up. "How is he not tired yet?!" The pro cursed to himself, beginning to lose ground. As he was just about to give up, a large shadow flew over him, and the hero audibly gasped as the mountain of a man landed right in front of him. All Might stood on the building, looking back at Kamui with a thumbs up and a grin as wide as ever. "You can rest now, Kamui! FOR I AM HERE!" The man exclaimed with a boisterous laugh, and hopped away towards the frog man. Kamui Woods only nodded, watching in sheer awe.
All Might sighed to himself once he was away, and pressed two fingers to the ear piece he wore. "I'm right behind it, Nezu.. I think I can only catch two or three more before my time runs out." All Might said with slight strain in his voice, the voice coming from the earpiece replying in a small, yet confidently calm tone. "You know, you don't have to do this, Toshinori. I can always get Aizawa to help, in fact-" All Might quickly cut him off, while he took another leap to the frog ahead. The two were heading straight towards the wilderness, and All Might narrowed his eyes despite keeping his smile. " No. I can do this, Nezu! I know what this means to you. I promise I'll catch them all for you, especially if what you have planned works." All Might replied with determination, the voice letting out a content hum through the earpiece."Very well then. Before you confront this one though, I'd like to give you a rundown on him and his abilities.." All Might groaned at this, landing right in the middle of the wilderness. The No. 1 Hero landed right next to a large pond, the water slightly shimmering under the sunlight. "You better hurry, Nezu. I think I'm at its home."
Nezu hummed through the earpiece, and began his explanation. "I've been observing this one for a few weeks now, through security cameras around the city. I've aptly named the culprit, Greninja. I feel my reasons are obvious." Nezu said with a small chuckle to himself. "It seems to have taken a liking to hero-work, more often than not being seen helping with common thugs and thieves." All Might chuckled at this, looking around as he stepped closer to the pond. "Hah! So, we have an animal vigilante? Quite interesting." All Might murmured. "Yes, it appears so. Whether or not it knows, or is simply copying what it's seen, that I am not sure of. I doubt you'll need to use much force, though it might catch you off-guard with it-" All Might cut the voice off again, dipping his large fingers in the water. "With its agility, yes. I've seen the footage from this morning. Some water manipulation quirk too, probably something to do with it being a frog." All Might murmured, before pausing as he stared at his reflection. "Nezu.. Are you sure these are really JUST quirked animals? I know you're one, but the things they can-" This time, Nezu had cut him off. "I am sure, Toshinori. Why more have been appearing now, I don't know, but they're still alive."
All Might stayed silent at this, contemplating Nezu's words. As he stared blankly into the water, his grin faltering for a moment, he quickly leaped back. He let go of his ear piece, and his smile returned as the frog jumped out of the water, droplets landing over the two as it began to strike a stance in front of the pro. "So, you're the one and only Greninja, huh? I appreciate your work, but I think we can use your talents elsewhere, my friend!" The man said with a booming laugh, the frog only looking towards him with a sneer. It immediately began to dash forward in a blink, almost catching the pro off-guard. All Might swiftly dodged out of the way, noticing in its hands two kunai made of water. He slightly stifled a gasp as he thought to himself 'Constructs too? I thought it ended with basic manipulation..' But before he could finish the thought, the frog quickly turned in the air, dashing towards him again immediately. All Might barely dodged, not expecting the sudden turn, and he chuckled as the water construct slightly cut at his white shirt. "Woah there! You're faster than Ingenium!" All Might quickly stepped behind the frog as it was in the air though, practically seeming like he teleported. "It's a shame I'm even faster than that though! Sorry about this, friend; but, it's for your own good!" The frog's eyes widened as it heard the man behind him, trying to cut at him before being enveloped in a bright red light, before being sucked into a spherical object within All Might's grasp. The sphere was seemingly metal, a black line separating two halves of it; the top-half red, and the bottom-half white, a large button in the center.
All Might sighed, tossing the ball up before catching it. It shook slightly, before a loud ding came from it. "I need to remember to thank Power Loader for these." He pressed a button on the ball, causing it to shrink down. He moved his shirt up slightly, and clicked the small sphere into place on his belt, what looked like 18 other spheres lining the rest of his belt. "I hope Midnight is having better luck catching the ones for class 1-B. What I'd give to have her quirk for this.." All Might's earpiece turned back on, and he began to listen to Nezu's voice behind it. "We appear to have reports of a 'sludge monster' in the sewer systems, All Might. Its description matches another one I've been monitoring." All Might slightly groaned at this, holding his fingers up to the ear piece. "Sludge monster? Nezu, what animal could that possibly be? I bought the excuse for the literal dinosaur, but-" Nezu quickly cut him off, his tone as calm as ever. "Microorganisms. They're animals too." All Might muttered something to himself, keeping up his smile, though his eyes told worry. He jumped high into the air, en route to the next creature he needed to catch. All Might began to slightly cough 'Come on, Toshinori.. This is the last one.'
PRESENT TIME, BACK WITH MIDORIYA
Izuku slightly mumbled, feeling a light slapping against his cheek. He fluttered his eyes open, before screaming in shock at who it was. "Oh hey, you're awake! I was getting scared there!" All Might said with a loud laugh, watching as the boy stammered on the ground with shock and awe. "A-A-All M-Might.." His eyes widened, quickly remembering what happened. "W-wait, what about the villain?!" Izuku asked in a panic, looking around in concern. "Oh, this villain?" All Might reached behind his back, pulling out a soda bottle, filled with grape soda; the label on front even saying so. The man nervously chuckled to himself, before quickly ripping the label and holding the bottle out again. "See? He's all contained here! This plastic can handle his acid just fine." Izuku looked on in amazement, easily falling for the ruse. He quickly realized something though, and reached for his notebook. "W-wait, I need you to sign- WHAT?!" Izuku yelled out in sheer surprise, the open page on his journal already being signed by the pro. "Thank you Th-thank you so much, All Might! This will be a family heirloom! Passed down from generations!" All Might gave a booming laugh, and began to walk forward. He squatted down, his calves flexing as he prepared to jump. "Okay!" He said with a thumbs up as he turned to face the boy. "I best be going now, young man! Stay safe out there!" Izuku looked on in disappointment, slightly stepping forward. "W-wait, already?" He asked desperately, his thoughts racing with questions. 'No.. Not yet. There's still so many things I want to ask. Need to ask.' All Might sensed his desperation, and widened his grin to try and comfort the boy. "Pro heroes need to fight time and villains! Don't worry, young man, I'm sure we'll meet again!" All Might said joyfully, before turning forward again and soon jumping high into the air, wind rippling around him as he launched into the sky. He noticed a shift in weight though, and looked down in surprise at what was wrapped around his leg.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey! What do you think you're doing? I appreciate the support, but this is too much!" The hero exclaimed, grabbing at Izuku's head to gently get him off. "Get off me already!" All Might said with a tired sigh, only for Izuku to reply; at least, try to reply with the wind blowing in his face, "I-I can't let go! If I let go from this height, I'd die!" He held tighter onto the hero's leg, only for him to go "Oh, good point." All Might shifted his hand, holding onto the boy's bag to help support him. "Just keep your head down, young man. Trust me, you don't want your mouth open when you're in the air.." The hero said with a small shutter, and the boy quickly complied. What neither of the two noticed though, was the two spheres that slipped off of All Might's belt at the sudden shift of weight.
CURRENTLY ON THE GROUND
Katsuki strolled through the alleys, his two cronies following along behind him. He kicked a can forward, hands in his pockets as he slouched. One of his supposed friends spoke up behind him, "Hey Bakugo, don't you think you were a little harsh on the guy earlier?" The other began to continue, "Yeah man, I get he's a loser and all, but telling him to kill himself? Sheesh." Bakugo sneered at their responses, before turning back to face them. "So what? He would be dead if he actually applied to U.A. anyways. If the damn quirkless bastard thinks he can take me on, to compete with me? That's a death sentence. Nobody insults me like that.." Bakugo's friends merely looked at each other after his response, before one of them sighed. "Whatever, man. Hey, we're gonna go try and snag us some smokes, wanna come?" He said with a grin, before Bakugo looked back at them with a glare. "A smoke? Are you kidding me? And ruin my perfect U.A. record? Hell no." Bakugo kicked at some garbage again, though he failed to see the metal ball flying along with the kicked trash.
A loud pop was heard as the ball opened in midair, the three boys looking at the ball with confusion and concern. A bright and blue beam came from the ball, before hitting the ground and causing a purple mass to form. It slowly rose up, letting out a low groan as it opened its wide maw.
"MMUUUKKK!"
My second ever time working on a fanfiction. I hope anyone that's reading this has enjoyed what they've read.
A good chunk of this was mostly just canon retreading, (mostly the first half), but I needed to get exposition out of the way. I hope you all like the type of world and lore I'm trying to set up here. I've never seen a pokemon/MHA fanfic really have the pokemon be apart of the world normally, so I thought maybe I could give it a try.
So far, I haven't really decided on what pokemon the students should get. I know there's probably a lot of obvious choices, but I'd love for something a bit more unique and creative in terms of that. I wouldn't mind just picking the easy option though if it comes down to it. So far, I've only really shown Muk, Greninja, and a brief mention of a potential fossil-mon (Potentially Cranidos or some other vaguely dinosaur pokemon.) If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to see them in the reviews.
Things will deviate a lot with the inclusion of pokemon now in the world, but I feel that's all I could give without spoiling too much. It might start off a little samey at first though, but I assure that there's gonna be major differences in the canon eventualy.
I apologize if I got anything wrong, or some stuff seems OOC. I've a bit rusty on MHA knowledge after a while, but I still love the world of it. That rust will be coming off soon enough.
Thank you all for reading, and if you have any questions or suggestions put them in the reviews. I'm open to criticism as long as it's constructive. Thank you all again for reading, and I hope a great rest of the year for anyone who's gotten this far.
