"You can't stay here."
Shinobu sat on her bed, nervously fidgeting. Doma lit a cigarette and gazed out the open window. He chuckled.
She sighed. If anyone saw an Upper Moon going un-defeated in her room, she would have a lot of explaining to do. She would face bad consequences if Kagaya found out she was dating a demon. She always kept her physical distance and would never even hold hands with him.
"Hm. But I can. You don't want me to leave, do you?" He looked back at her, a huge smug smile spread on his face as he leaned on the windowsill.
She prepared to snap at him, but her annoyed expression gave, and she cracked up at his hand on his hip. "You look like you own the place," she said in between giggles. "Your pose, and everything..."
He put his cigarette back in his mouth, still smiling, and turned to the window.
Shinobu buried her face in a pillow, giggling again. He was the only one who made her laugh.
She finally composed her face, rising from her bed. Walking over to him, she said lightly,
"Hey, boss. You're going to get caught. Enough with the cigarettes." She took it from his mouth and dropped it, stomping the flame out. Doma watched her, his face falling. She then tossed it out the window.
He turned to her, a mildly irritated expression on his face.
She looked into his eyes.
His eyes softened, the annoyance replaced with genuine love for Shinobu. She was the one who unlocked his emotions, even if they were caged deep inside him.
"I don't get to see you often. It's not fair." He pulled her closer.
Shinobu sighed, resisting his touch. "Yes, well, do you wanna get decapitated? Do you want me to get decapitated?"
"I just want one kiss. Then I'll go."
She knew she was desperate for physical affection, but she was too paranoid. She stepped away, restraining herself from throwing her arms around him.
"I'm sorry. It's too risky."
He smiled sadly, looking disappointed. "Okay. Goodnight."
Shinobu felt guilty as she watched him heave himself out of the window. She fought back tears as she crawled into her bed.
'It's not right,' she thought. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, then jumped out of her bed. She rushed to the window, throwing it open, and jumped out. Doma was slowly walking away, and when he saw her again, he looked at her confusedly.
She slowly advanced towards him, a faint smile on her lips.
She then wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I'm sorry, Doma," she whispered. He looked into her eyes.
Shinobu swallowed, her stomach jolting. Doma leaned in until their lips barely touched, allowing her to press her lips against his.
He closed his eyes, wrapping her arms around her body and hugging her tightly.
He smiled affectionately.
"I love you," she said.
