Pairings: Yugi x Shizuka/Serenity, Jonouchi/Joey x Mai
"Mommy!" shouted a four-year-old brunette.
He felt the room getting warmer by the minute and smoke was coming out under his door. When he touched the door handle, it burned his small hand. The brunette yelped before continuing to yell for his parents.
"Mommy! Daddy! Please help me!" he begged before starting to cough. "Mommy! Daddy! I – I can't breathe! Help me!"
Suddenly, the ceiling gave out and fallen right on top of the small brunette.
"Mommy! Daddy!"
Jaden woke up from a nightmare.
His old home burned down, his parents didn't make it and he was found unconscious under some debris. He began to sob quietly, clenching his kuriboh plushie when the door opened and came in was his adopted father, Yugi Muto.
"Jaden," Yugi lifted his son on his lap, "Did you have that nightmare again?"
The young brunette nodded, slowly and covered his face into his father's nightshirt.
Yugi hugged his terrified son, and both lied down on the brunette's bed. He wrapped his arms around his son, giving him a sigh of relief before the child fell asleep. The young pro-duelist sighed and looked up at the window ceiling.
Never in his life, Yugi thought he'd be raising a child, but here he is, with a six-year-old child named Judai Yuki but was changed to Jaden Muto.
It was a year ago that he saw the small brunette or rather Winged Kuriboh did. While taking his afternoon walk, the small duel spirit led him to a refreshed orphanage and went straight to the young brunette. The child was looking down, but when he lifted his head, Yugi could see the brunette's eyes were dull before getting a shine upon seeing the small duel spirit.
Yugi smiled as he could tell that the young child could see duel monster spirits as well.
He watched, smiling to see Winged Kuriboh rubbing his small body against the brunette's cheek, causing him to giggle a bit. That's when a few older children nearby started laughing.
"Oi, what's so funny freak!"
"Oh, are you talking to one of your little spirit freaks?"
"Careful guys. We don't want him to call his little demonic freaks!"
Yugi frowned, knowing his share of being bullied, doesn't tolerate what the older children were doing. Without a second thought, he was in the orphanage and signing the adoption papers for Judai Yuki.
The moment Yugi stepped out the orphanage, he wasn't sure how to explain to his grandfather about the child. However, when he introduced Jaden to him, Solomon welcomed him with open arms and started talking to him about duel monsters.
Yugi laughed, recalling when he was young that his grandfather did the same thing to him. He looked at his sleeping son then saw on the clock it was one before closing his eyes and fell asleep.
In the morning, Yugi woke up and saw his son had let him go with his arms wide open and snoring peacefully. He laughed softly before he carefully removed himself from his son's bed to take a shower. Afterwards, Yugi went to the kitchen and started to prepare breakfast.
Within ten minutes, Solomon came into the kitchen. He sat down and smiled, "Morning Yugi. Where's Jaden? Is he still asleep?"
"Morning and yes, he's still asleep… he had that nightmare again," replied Yugi as he placed his grandfather's breakfast in front of him. "He had quite a death grip, so I ended up sleeping with him last night."
"Poor child," said Solomon, sadly, "What are you going to do?"
"…I'll take him to KaibaCorp and see if he cheers up by seeing the test duels," replied Yugi.
"Mm, that might work," murmured Solomon before the two of them heard a small yawn. They turned to see Jaden at the doorway, his brown hair was quite messy, and he was wearing his light blue pajamas.
"Morning daddy, grandpa," greeted Jaden as he rubbed his chocolate brown eyes.
"Morning Jay," said Yugi before picking him up and placed him on his chair. He ruffled the light part of his brown hair and placed his son's breakfast in front of him.
Jaden's eyes brighten before digging in, "So, what are we going to do today, daddy?"
Yugi laughed, "That's going to be a surprise. We'll be going after breakfast… eat slowly, got it?"
"Oh, a surprise! Okay!" Jaden said and was about to eat fast, but recalled the last time he did so he ate his breakfast at his normal speed.
After an hour, the two Muto's were at the entrance of KaibaCorp where they were greeted by Mokuba Kaiba. "Morning Yugi and Jaden, what's up?"
"Is it alright if Jaden could see the test duels?" Yugi asked while Jaden was sitting on his shoulders.
"Mm, yea it's alright," replied Mokuba before snapping his fingers. "Oh, by the way, my brother was planning to call you, Yugi."
"Really? For what?" Yugi asked.
"Not sure," Mokuba shrugged, "Come on, we can drop off Jaden at the testing arena while we see my brother."
Yugi nodded, followed the younger Kaiba, and had Ronald watch over Jaden then the two headed to Seto's office.
"Kaiba, you wanted to see me?" Yugi asked, sitting on the couch and Mokuba sitting beside him.
"I did, but first, why are you here?" Seto asked.
"Jaden had a nightmare, so I brought him here to cheer him up by watching a few test duels," replied Yugi.
"I see," murmured Seto before sighing, "Right, what I'm going to tell you… is quite shocking."
"Is that so," Yugi smirked, "Well, go on, what is it?"
"…I just found out that my birth mother and your mother were sisters," replied Seto.
Yugi widened his eyes, placing his hand on his forehead. "So… we're related…"
Seto placed his hands under his chin, "It would seem so… though it would make sense on how equal match we are… in some things."
Yugi rolled his eyes before narrowing them a bit. "You realize that if this gets out then I would be swamped with bunch of annoying reporters at my place."
Seto closed his eyes, "Which is why you, Grandfather Muto and your son will be living with Mokuba and I at the mansion."
Yugi was about to protest when he remembered that Kaiba values his family first. He sighed, "Alright, give us a week to get things packed. What about the GameShop?"
"I'm going to have someone guard the store at night. Grandfather will still work there, but I will hire someone to help him out," replied Seto.
Yugi nodded before making a face, "I get this feeling you want me to work with you as well."
Seto smirked, "You can't deny that you're quite good in math and the computer. Didn't you graduate with honors in Math and History?"
"Fine, you got me there," murmured Yugi before crossing his arms, "Right, I'll work with you unless if you hire my friends as well."
"Fine, I'll hire the mutt and his lackey," murmured Seto, "They can be Jaden's bodyguards."
"Well, at least it's something," said Yugi before getting up, "If that's all, I need to get Jaden from the testing arena."
Seto nodded while Mokuba was grinning, happily from the conversation. Unknown to them, someone was listening in and left where he was hiding before he got caught.
The time Yugi and a half-asleep Jaden got home; he told his grandpa what Seto told him. Solomon had tears running down his eyes as he knew Catherin when she was a young girl. While Jaden took his afternoon nap, Solomon told Yugi about Catherin.
In his grandfather's description, it looks like the Kaiba brothers were a mixer of their parents. Seto had his mother's hair and his father's eyes while Mokuba had his father's hair and his mother's eyes.
After hearing about his aunt, it was getting close for dinner and Yugi's friends would pop by for a visit, which is mostly Jonouchi and Honda. Bakura would come and go as his job was a photographer. Lastly, Anzu saved enough money to study to become a dancer in New York.
Currently, Jaden who woke up from his nap, was watching TV while his dad and great grandpa were making dinner when he heard the doorbell ring.
"Got it!" Jaden shouted, dashing to the door. The brunette stopped, remembering one of the rules about answering the door on his own. "Who is it?"
"What ya think Jay? Now, let us in before we pass out of hunger!"
Jaden laughed, "Just want to make sure. What's the password?"
"Okay, okay, you got me. And it's Neos."
Jaden grinned before opening the door to see Jonouchi, Honda and Shizuka, Jonouchi's little sister.
"Hey there little Jay," greeted Jonouchi, lifting him up and placing him on his shoulders. "How's the little man been doing?"
Jaden smiled, "Great! Daddy took me to KaibaCorp, and I got to see the test duels!"
"You don't say," murmured Jonouchi while Honda and Shizuka shook their heads. The three of them headed upstairs where Solomon greeted them.
"Ah, you made it just in time. It's nice to see you again Shizuka."
"Well, I have nothing scheduled today so why not… and besides," Shizuka took Jaden off from her brother's shoulders and hugged him dearly, "Jaden is so adorable!"
The young brunette blushed from the comment.
"Well, if you guys are done hugging my 'adorable' son to death, dinner is ready," said Yugi.
Jonouchi and Honda grinned; their eyes brightened before dashing to the table. Shizuka just laughed before walking to the table and placed Jaden in his sit.
"So, Yug, what's the deal with moneybags? What did he want this time?" Jonouchi asked before smirking. "He challenged you into a duel again, didn't he? Man, can't that rich boy understand you're the best duelist."
"Actually, it was more of a… family matter," said Yugi, scratching his chin.
Jonouchi and Honda spit their drinks while Jaden and Shizuka giggled from their actions.
"Family matter? What do you mean Yugi?" Honda asked.
Yugi sighed, "What I'm going to tell you… it's rather shocking. But it makes sense how Kaiba and I are so alike…"
Jonouchi and Honda frowned.
"…we're cousins. My mom and his biological mother were sisters."
Jaden winched to see his two surrogate uncles fall from their chairs and hit their heads onto the floor. He watched them get up from the floor before placing their chins on the table with funny faces.
"You've got to be kidding me, Yug?! You two are completely different!"
Yuki shrugged, "Oh, not only that, but I got a job in KaibaCorp."
"Aw, come on!" Jonouchi said, dramatically. "I've been working two underpaid jobs for the past three years, and you got a job with moneybags – why didn't you hook me up as well?!"
Yugi frowned a bit, "I did, you as well Honda. The both of you will be getting a call for a job offer of becoming bodyguards within this week."
Honda made a face, "It better not be Mokuba. That kid gets kidnapped so many times when we were teenagers."
Jonouchi nodded as he agreed as well.
Yugi laughed, "No, it's not. Mokuba knows how to defend himself after taking some karate lessons. The one you two are protecting is Jaden."
Jonouchi and Honda looked at the young brunette who was happily eating his fried shrimp. The two had a huge grin on their faces before getting up from the floor.
"Victory dance time!"
Yugi shook his head before noticing his son was rubbing his eyes, Shizuka noticed as well. She got up and walked over to Yugi, "I don't mind taken Jaden to bed for you, Yugi."
Yugi nodded before picking up the dirty plates minus Jonouchi's and Honda's, knowing they will be getting more food to eat.
Shizuka picked Jaden up from his chair and went up to his room which was Yugi's former bedroom while Yugi was using his mother's old room since she died last year. She shifted Jaden to her left hip and looked to find some pajamas in his closet. There were a few that looked adorable, but she chose a blue one with a chibi Kuriboh's on it.
She changed Jaden before tugging the tired child to bed. She kissed him on his forehead, "Sleep well, Jaden. I hope you have a wonder dream tonight."
-KaibaCorp, two months later-
Jaden watched as his surrogate uncles were arguing about the soccer team and who was going to win. In the brunette's mind, neither of the teams his uncle's root for were horrible.
"Are they going to stop, aniki?" asked a girl with long light blue hair and blue eyes.
Jaden turned his attention to Kaida Kaiba, the adopted daughter to Seto Kaiba.
Seto, his uncle, visited an orphanage just outside of Domino which was the same orphanage he and his brother stayed before getting adopted. He wasn't planning to adopt a child until he spotted Kaida.
She was reading a book about dragons and there was another book about math, advanced math for college.
For some odd reason, something was telling Seto to adopt the young child, which he did. So, now Jaden has a cousin, but she sees him more like an older brother and calls him aniki.
"No, I don't think so," said Jaden before snapping his fingers, "Hey, let's have a small duel. You brought your deck, right?"
Kaida nodded, "I did, but…it's not really well made yet."
Jaden grinned, "It's okay. I have some from grandpa's shop. You can look through them and change your cards. You can keep a few if you like. Grandpa doesn't mind."
"Yay! You're the best! And grandpa! Okay, let's go. My deck is at my dad's office," said Kaida, grabbing Jaden's hand and dragging him to her father's office.
The brunette got Jonouchi's attention that they are going to Kaiba's office. The two stopped their argument and followed the two children.
Jonouchi's job was to guard Jaden while Honda was Kaida's bodyguard. The two children were always together since Kaida's adoption.
Suddenly, Jonouchi felt something was wrong. He nudged Honda by the elbow to give him a sign to stay alert.
"Oi, Jay, Kai! Wait up!" Jonouchi shouted.
Jaden and Kaida stopped at a corner which was not too far from Seto's office. That's when Jaden heard a voice telling him to get away from there. He turned around to see an unknown person reaching towards Kaida.
The brunette pushed Kaida out of the way and the stranger grabbed him instead.
"Jaden! / Aniki!"
"Don't move or the brat gets it!" threatened the man, pulling out a large knife and placed it near Jaden's neck. "Now, get Mr. Kaiba and Mr. Muto…unless you want to see this boy die right in front of your eyes?"
Honda gritted his teeth while Kaida was behind him.
Jonouchi glared at him, but unknown to him, Jonouchi sent a code message to nearby guards that were not too far from them.
"Alright, but lower the knife down," Jonouchi walked slowly towards him, "We'll hear your demands, but let the kid go. You're scaring him."
"Like I care if the brat is scared. My first hostage was supposed to be Kaiba's brat, but I guess he'll do. He is Kaiba's nephew after all…"
Jonouchi and Honda widened their eyes as no one was supposed to know that secret.
"Get them now!" demanded the stranger, pushing the knife deeper into Jaden's neck. The brunette whimpered as the sharp object was starting to hurt his neck.
"Alright, Alright. Let's go to Kaiba's office. I'll use the phone there, got it?" Jonouchi said.
"…no funny business. Lead the way."
Jonouchi was about to move when the assassin suddenly fell to the ground and let Jaden go. Behind him was Ryuji Otogi, the creator of Dungeon of Dice monsters glared at the unconscious man.
"That's for threatening a kid's life," hissed Ryuji before picking up a shocked Jaden. "Are you alright, kiddo?" he asked, noticing the brunette was holding onto his slight injured neck.
Jaden just nodded as his neck was hurting him a bit.
"Honda, get the other guards and place this bastard in the holding cells," Jonouchi ordered before picking up Kaida who was sobbing silently. "I'll take Kaida with me."
Honda nodded before dashing through the hallways.
"Come on, let's take Jaden to the infirmary," said Jonouchi.
Ryuji nodded and followed him to the infirmary. The nurse took Jaden to heal his cut on his neck while Kaida was being treated from the shock. After an hour, the two were fast asleep when Yugi and Seto came running in.
"Report!" Seto ordered.
"An assassin was able to bypass the entrance and was about to grab Kaida, but Jaden pushed her aside and got caught instead," replied Jonouchi.
"Jonouchi signaled to the other guards nearby, but no one came," Honda gritted his teeth, "It's cause Otogi's help that we got Jaden away from him."
"I'm going to have a few words with those idiots," hissed Seto, angrily.
"How are Jaden and Kaida fairing?" Yugi asked as he walked over to the sleeping children.
"They're just fine, shaken but fine," replied the nurse. "Both suffered from shock. Jaden, however, has a small cut on his neck, but that will heal in about a week or so."
Yugi and Seto sighed in relief before picking the children up. Since that day, Seto had Kaida and Jaden homeschooled and were always guarded.
-Domino Park, two years later-
Shizuka was currently babysitting the children for the day with her brother and Honda. "Jaden! Kaida! Be careful!"
"Aw, come on sis, lighten up will ya," Jonouchi smiled, "Let them have their fun."
Shizuka sighed, "I guess you're right. Mm – make some room you two! I'm coming to play!"
Jaden and Kaida grinned before challenging each other to who can hold onto the monkey bars the longest. The three stared at each other, but as they were about to begin, they heard some cheering not too far from them.
"What's going on over there?" Jaden wondered.
"Don't know… want to check it out?" Kaida asked.
"Can we, Shizuka?" Jaden asked.
"I don't see why not. Let me tell my brother and Honda, you guys go ahead," said Shizuka.
Jaden and Kaida nodded before the two dashed to the cheering while Shizuka went to get her brother and Honda. When the two got to the cheering, it was a bunch of children their age surrounding two other children, who were dueling.
Jaden eyes brighten, "They're dueling! Let's go Kai!"
One of the children had messy, snowy-white hair and light blue eyes. He was wearing a black vest, a black shirt that said, 'Walking of the Dead,' black shorts and black shoes.
When Jonouchi, Honda and Shizuka got there, the boy with white hair won.
"See, I told ya that my deck can beat your deck," said the white hair boy.
"So, what if you beat me. I still say that Zombie cards are pointless. They don't have any attack power so that means they're weak and useless!"
The white hair boy got up from his seat, "Take that back!"
"Weak deck alert! Look out everyone, or he'll unleashed his lame-o cards at us!"
Jaden and Kaida glared at the annoying, arrogant brat. The brunette stepped in, "Hey! You better stop insulting his cards or else!"
The annoying boy stepped back, "This is pointless. Come on guys, let's go."
Jaden and Kaida glared at the other kids leave before the two went over to the white hair boy.
"Hey, what's your name? I'm Jaden and this is my cousin, Kaida."
"Vante McKnight. Just moved here about a week ago from Britain."
"I hear that Britain is lovely during winter, but why did you move here?" Kaida wondered.
"My da got transferred here," replied Vante, tapping his forehead. "He works at a place called… mm, ah! KaibaCorp."
Kaida smiled, "Well, what you know. My daddy is the CEO and aniki's daddy is his partner."
"You're kidding, right?" Vante said in disbelief before smiling, "It'd be bloody awesome if we can hang out some time."
"The more the merrier, that's what my dad says, right Jonouchi?" Jaden said.
Jonouchi ruffled the brunette's hair, "You got that right buddy. So, you must be Alex's kid. I've met your dad not too long ago."
"He sure knows how to work in a computer then the other guys," stated Honda.
Vante smiled, sheepishly, "That's my pop. Oh! So, why haven't I seen you guys at school?"
"Oh, we don't go to the public school. We've been homeschooled, but soon we will be going to a private boarding school," replied Kaida.
"But we can hang out on the weekends," Jaden grinned, "We can duel against each other. Your Zombie deck against my Elemental Hero deck!"
Vante grinned, "Brilliant! So, what shall we do now?"
Kaida grinned, "Monkey bar challenge!"
Jaden and Vante grinned before the three dashed over to the monkey bars. Jonouchi, Shizuka and Honda smiled softly before walking over to nearby benches and watched the three children play.
-Kaiba's Mansion, a year later-
"Jaden, let me introduce you to some old friends of mine," said Yugi. "This is Marik Ishtar and his adopted daughter, Nagisa. Marik's older sister, Ishizu and their adopted older brother, Odion. They're from Cairo, Egypt."
Jaden looked at the young girl who was clenching onto Marik's legs. The girl has short, curly, rose gold hair with cream-highlighted bangs, large silk blue eyes with a speck of gold layered in, and dark tan skin. She's wearing a light purple sun dress with black leggings, a white sleeveless jean coat, white combat boots and purple beanie.
"Pleasure meeting you all," greeted Jaden.
Marik smiled, "Likewise Jaden."
Ishizu giggled, "I can see that you'll make a great friend with my niece."
Jaden grinned before looking at Nagisa, "Hey, want to play while we wait for the food?"
Nagisa looked unsure and looked up at her father who gave her an encouraging smile. She took a deep breath before letting go of her father's leg. That's when the brunette grabbed her hand and dragged her to a hallway that led to the playroom where she met Kaida Kaiba and Vante McKnight.
It wasn't long for everyone to take their seats and Jaden was standing in front of a large cake of his favorite flavors, chocolate and vanilla. That's when Yugi stands next to his son, "Thanks for coming everyone, but there's another reason to celebrate about. Shizuka, if you don't mind?"
The young redhead nodded, "Everyone, as you know, Yugi and I have been dating for quite some time now…"
Everyone nodded minus Anzu who was glaring at the young girl.
"Well, I'm happy to report that – Yugi and I are engaged!" Shizuka said, happily before showing them the engagement ring.
"What?!" Anzu hissed, angrily.
"No way!"
"Congrats to the both of you!"
"I'm so happy for you both!"
Mai walked over to Shizuka, "If you need help, I'm your woman."
Shizuka giggled, "I know Mai. You and my brother looked amazing in your wedding!"
Jonouchi gave a headlock to Yugi, "Dude, when were you going to tell me you were planning to marry my sister?"
Yugi scratched his cheek, "Um, you're not… the best on keeping secrets…"
Jonouchi blinked his eyes while the others laughed since it was the truth.
-unknown, three years later-
Jaden and Kaida were looking out of the jet as they were heading to a company, the Manjoume group. They requested a meeting for a business deal and requested Pegasus to come as well.
As for Jaden and Kaida, it would be their first lesson about making deals with other companies as someday they will be inheriting KaibaCorp in the future.
Mokuba stayed behind with his fiancée, Rebecca Hawkins to watch over the company. The younger Kaiba gave his old position to Yugi so he could improve the defense system with Rebecca.
As they were passing some islands underneath, Jaden started to feel a bit dizzy. The brunette shook his head as he tried to shake it off, but it didn't work.
That's when everything around him turned black.
Kaida was looking out the window before spotting some small islands below. She turned around to tell her cousin, but she gasped at what she saw.
Jaden's eyes were half open and instead of his normal chocolate brown eyes, they were golden. His shoulders were trembling, and he was gripping his chair tightly.
Kaida dashed to where her father was, "Father! Uncle Yugi! Something is wrong with aniki!"
The three adults got up and went over to where Jaden was sitting. Yugi grabbed his son's chin to see golden eyes and had a somewhat vacant look on his face.
"Jaden… Jaden! Can you hear me?" Yugi asked.
The brunette's eyes twitched a bit, "He's calling out… he wants… he wants… to be… reunited… with them… once again…"
"Who's calling Jaden?" Yugi asked.
"The… Rainbow Dragon… he wants… to be free… to see… his family… again," replied Jaden in a monotone voice.
Pegasus widened his eyes, "The Rainbow Dragon?! I've been looking for that stone tablet for so long, but I could never find it."
"Mm, well, it seems that Jaden knows," said Seto before bending down to Jaden's level. "Do you know where the Rainbow Dragon is?"
Jaden nodded slowly, "…an island… somewhere below… he's near…" that's when Jaden's eyes closed and collapsed onto his father's arms.
"Aniki!" Kaida shouted, dashing to her fallen cousin.
"Seto…" started Yugi.
"I know," Seto smirked, "Looks like I must reschedule with those pathetic losers – RONALD! Change course and send a message to the Manjoume group that something came up!"
Pegasus had his PDA out, "Ah, there's a city not too far from here Kaiba-boy."
"Ronald, contact the airport to that city and alert them to have a medical team ready!" Seto ordered.
"Right away sir!"
Kaida was holding Jaden's hand, 'Hang in there aniki…'
Three days have passed since Jaden's collapse, and he hasn't woken up yet. The doctors did all sorts of tests to see what was wrong with the young child, but nothing came up minus that he was extremely exhausted and had hardly any strength.
Currently, it's the middle of the night and Yugi was awake while Kaida and Seto were sleeping on the couch. He was working on some things on his laptop when he heard a voice.
"He'll wake up soon…"
Yugi looked around to see if there was anyone in the room but found no one. He was about to return to his work when Kuriboh and Winged Kuriboh appeared.
"Kuri! Kuri!"
"What is it?" Yugi whispered.
Both Kuriboh's went over to Jaden's left and were jumping up and down to something.
Yugi looked closer and saw it was another duel spirit that he had never seen before. She has two types of hair color, white and purple, and has orange and green eyes. She has a demonic body, wings and a third eye on her forehead.
"Who… are you?" Yugi asked, softly.
The demonic spirit turned around with a shock look on her face before smiling at him.
"Yubel, my name is Yubel. Jaden's biological father gave Jaden my duel monster card for his birthday. I was to protect Jaden from any harm that comes to him."
Yugi widened his eyes, "So, that would explain why Jaden was the only survivor from the burning house… you protected him, correct?"
Yubel nodded before sighing, "I wish I could've protected his parents as well…"
"You did all you could have Yubel," assured Yugi. "At least you saved Jaden from an untimely death."
Yubel smiled before having a serious look on her face. "There… is a reason what just happened to Jaden, but you must promise me that you don't tell him until the time is right."
Yugi frowned a bit, "I promise."
Yubel took a deep breath, "In another time and dimension, I was human, and I was friends with the prince. One day, the King told me that the prince needed to learn how to control his powers. So, I agreed to the King that I would take the responsibility to watch over the prince until he matures and fully controls his powers."
"Powers?" Yugi said.
Yubel nodded, "But everything fell apart when the Light of Destruction attacked. The prince's soul was sent to another dimension to be reincarnated. I was sent as a duel monster spirit and to continue guarding the prince until he is ready to face the Light of Destruction once again."
"So, you're saying that Jaden is the reincarnation of this prince," said Yugi and Yubel nodded. "Then what happened three days ago was Jaden using a bit of that power?"
Yubel nodded, "Correct. The power of the Supreme King can be used for good, but it can also be dangerous at the same time."
Yugi sighed, "I see… you said that he'll wake up soon, correct?"
The demonic spirit nodded just as they heard a small moan. Yugi turned to see that his son was slowly opening his eyes, and he could see that his eye color returned to normal.
"Dad?" Jaden said in a raspy voice before wincing a bit.
"Easy there Jaden," Yugi placed his hand on top of his son's forehead, "You collapsed, and we had to take you to the hospital as soon as possible. You were asleep for three days."
"C-Collapsed? Three days? Wha-What happened?!" Jaden asked.
Yugi thought for a moment, "You had a fainting spell, that's all."
"Oh," said Jaden before feeling tired again.
"Go back to sleep Jaden. We will head back home once you're a bit better," said Yugi.
Jaden smiled, tiredly before falling asleep.
"I hate lying to him," murmured Yugi as he brushed a bit of Jaden's brown hair.
"I know, but I cannot say anything until the time is right," said Yubel.
"And when will that be?" Yugi asked.
"Mm, I believe when he's about fifteen," replied Yubel. "Don't worry, I'll be the one telling him everything."
Yugi nodded before closing his laptop and fell asleep. The two Kuriboh's went back into their cards while Yubel stared at Jaden for a bit before going back to hers.
