Second chance at first line

Disclaimer: I don't own anything other than Sophia.

"Her dad?" I repeated what Stiles just told me.

"Yeah, Scott said that Allison's dad is one of the hunters." He said. We were on the lacrosse field before practice. After what happened at the party on Friday and my little night ride with Derek. My brother has yet to really let me out of his sight. Even going as far to change his seat in the classes we share and meeting me after each class we didn't.

"Does Allison know about her dad, about Scott? Better yet did her dad recognize Scott was the one he shot."

"He doesn't know, at least he doesn't think so. On both accounts."

Groaning I put my head in my hands.

"It just keeps getting worst."

Coach blew his whistle, and Stiles shrugged at me before jogging back to the field.

As I sit on the bench waiting for the boy's practice to start. I think about the night of the full moon. My best friend is a werewolf, there are werewolf hunters, and I don't know what I am. Even Derek -who seems to have a lot of experience- seemed stumped. Other than my body temperature changing a bit. I had no changing features, claws, or glowing eyes like Scott. Maybe I was just a late bloomer. A loud thud caused me to snap out of my thoughts. Looking at the field I saw Scott on the ground and Jackson walking away from him.

Coach walked over to him and began scolding Scott.

"My grandmother can move faster than that, and she's dead." Yikes

"Think you could move faster than my dead grandmother McCall."

As he spoke, I could feel Scott's anger radiating from him.

"Yes, Coach." He answered him before walking off.

His body tensed as he walked over to stand in front of Stiles glaring at Jackson. As he did, I saw that his eyes were glowing.

"Shit" I said just as coach blew the whistle. Scott charged at Jackson hitting him hard, then falling to his knee clutching his head as if he were in pain. Standing I ran on the field falling beside him and my brother.

"Scott, you okay?" Stiles inquired.

"I can't control it guys, it's happening" Scott said. His voice strained.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, right here?" Stiles said panicking, I looked around and saw that the team and coach were around Jackson.

"Stiles, we gotta get him to the locker room. Now" He nodded and helped me get Scott to his feet. Quickly we jogged off toward the building. As we did I caught the unmistakable scent of sandalwood. Glancing to me right as we passed the bleachers, I saw Derek standing there. And he looked more angry than usual if possible. I paused for a second before continuing on. Scott was more important now. Stumbling over our feet the whole way there, as we reached the locker room door Scott pushed away from us. Stiles moved to help him up but I held my arm out stopping him. He looked at me confused before we looked at Scott who was turned to us.

His eyes gold instead of the normal brown, his fangs bared as he glared at us through his helmet.

"Get away from me!" he roared at us. Stiles and I took a step away, me grabbing his jersey. If I wasnt scared before. I was now.

"Oh my god" I said. Stiles grabbed my arm pulling me with him as we scrambled to get away from him. Rushing in between the lockers I tried to keep my eyes on Scott as he jumped on top of the lockers with a loud roar.

"Shit, shit, shit." Stiles cursed "go, go, go" he said pushing me in front of him. Stumbling, I crashed into a locker. Looking around I saw the door. I moved to make a run for it Scott jumped at me.

"No, Scott!" I heard my brother yell. As he got closer, I reached out instinctively grabbing his jersey as throwing him as hard as I could. Which was hard because he flew a good 15 ft across the room into a couple of lockers. Knocking down some and denting the ones he made impact with before going down. Shocked, I just stared at him as he got to his feet. More pissed.

"Stiles" I said calling out to my brother. Inching back as Scott turned toward me "Mitchie, a little help would be nice." Scott crouched down ready to pounce, but before he could Stiles stepped in front of me fire extinguisher in hand spraying Scott. As he sprayed, I grabbed his jersey pulling him with me to the door and out of the room. Leaning against the wall we both tried to catch our breath. I could hear Stiles heart beating a mile a minute, mine matching.

"Stiles… Sophie." I heard Scott say, lowly. Glancing at my brother I nodded. Cautiously we peaked in the room. Scott had removed his helmet and was sitting on a bench hunched over. Looking up at us I was relieved to see is rich brown eyes and no fangs.

"What happened?"

Stiles dropped the extinguisher to the floor before taking off his gloves.

"You just tried to kill us." He said. "Its like I said, anger is the trigger. Your pulse rises, you transform." He continued. As he did. I sat beside Scott.

"that's lacrosse." Scott explained. "it's a pretty violent game if you haven't noticed."

"Well, it's gonna be a lot more violent if you end up killing someone on the field Scott." I told him. It hurt to see his face fall. I know he worked hard to make first line and how important it is to him. It also hurt to say my next words.

"There is no way you can play in the game on Saturday." I said sadly.

"But I'm first line." He protested.

"Not anymore." Stiles and I said together.

The shuffling of feet and voices in the hall caught my attention. The team was coming back inside.

"I should go before Coach catches me in here." I said standing to my feet. Scott just held his head down defeated; my brother nodded.

"I'll meet you at the jeep okay." I told him before leaving. I passed the coach as I did. He gave me a confused look but didn't say anything. Thankfully. As I exited the building, I couldn't help but look around to see if Derek was still there. He was no doubt spying on Scott and me. And after what happened today maybe with good reason.

He was gone. I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. Groaning I rushed over to my backpack grabbed it and made my way to the parking lot to meet my brother. I seriously needed my own car. As I walked the hairs at the back of my neck stood up. Pausing I looked around and saw… nothing.

Sighing I shook my head. I've really been feeling like I'm losing my mind.

"There is no way he can play in that game." I jumped at the sound of a voice behind me.

"Jesus!" I said, turning to Derek. He stood there looking down at me with an eyebrow raised. I couldn't help but give him the once over, white t-shirt, black jeans, leather jacket just a regular James Dean.

"Please don't do that." I asked. He just stood there in his brooding glory. Sighing I leaned against the gray Camry to my left.

"Maybe, but that's easier said than done. Scott can be a bit stubborn. Besides he worked very hard to get this position."

"He won't have to worry about that if the hunters find out who he is. Because he'll be dead." He said glaring at me. An involuntary shudder ran through me as a flashback of what happened in the woods that night came to mind.

"It not his fault. Maybe you should actually help rather than stalk us. Did that cross your mind?" I asked. It's kind of annoying that he can just stand here throwing out orders.

"It may not seem like it, but I am trying to help." He said. At that I raised my eyebrows.

"Oh really?" He glared at me not appreciating my sarcasm. Coming closer until he was just inches away from me. His closeness send my body on edge.

"Just keep in mind. If the hunters find him, they find you. And they don't care how young you are." He said before stepping around me and walking away. I stared at his back until he was out of sight. Great.

I finally had a night off and I had to spend it studying. Which wouldn't be such a bad thing if I could concentrate. Huffing, I closed my science book. My mind was on everything but school. Getting out of bed I went to Stiles room. Barging in I saw that he was at his computer. He looked up at me astonished.

"Knock much.?" He said. I ignored him walking in further and flopped on his bed.

"What's wrong?" he asked. Turning in his desk chair facing me.

"I'm a werewolf, and not even a normal one Stiles. What's right?" I said looking at him. He pursed his lips and shook his head.

"Maybe you're not a werewolf." He said.

"Stiles, I threw Scott across the room today, I healed from a bite damn near overnight, I no longer need my glasses. And I can hear your heart beating very clearly from here. If Im not a werewolf. What the hell am I?" I asked.

"I don't know Sophie, pretty new to this here."

Sighing, I slid down to floor at the foot of his bed, leaning against it I hugged my legs to my chest.

"I'm scared Stiles, what if it's just a matter of me getting pissed off and I hurt someone. Not even Derek knows what's going on with me." I said. He came and sat down next to me, I leaned into him.

"I wouldn't put too much stock into what Derek has to say, but we'll figure it out. You, me, Scott. We have each other. Always." Stiles said as he hugged me tightly. Ever since I moved in with him and dad, he's always looked out for me. Always.

"Yeah." We sat like that for a minute before he jumped up to his feet.

"Well, before you so rudely barged in. I was about to call Scott." He said sitting back at his computer. I continued to sit on the floor tugging at the end of my braid. Trying to figure out if I'm going to tell them that Derek saw Scott lose control today at practice.

"What did you find out." Scott said as he answered the video call.

"Well, its bad. Jackson has a separated shoulder." Stiles said. I winced. I mean its not like the douche didn't deserve it but ouch.

"Because of me?" Scott said I could tell that he felt horrible by the tone of his voice.

"Because he's a tool." My brother corrected.

"Well, is he gonna play?"

"They don't know, now they're just counting on you for Saturday."

This caused both me and Scott to groan. Is it just me or is life getting worst by the minute.

"What?" Scott said. But my brother didn't answer. I looked up at him. He was looking at the computer but not saying anything.

"Stiles? What is it?" He ignored me and typed something in the chat.

"Stiles." I said getting up from the floor looking at the screen. Just in time to see Scott being snatched away from his desk and pushed up against the wall by none other than Derek. He was threatening him about playing in the game on Saturday, before letting him go and leaving. Scott came back to the screen.

"Who was that?" Stiles said.

"It was Derek. He was at school today during practice. He saw him lose control."

"You knew? Why didn't you say anything?" Stiles said accusingly.

"I was, I know I should have said something sooner. I didn't think he would attack him!" He looked at me with disbelief.

"Sophia. You do realize that he is the reason for all of this." He yelled.

"I don't think so. At first yes, but when I asked him that night of the party, he said no."

"And you just believe him, just like that."

"Yes. Look Stiles I don't know. I just do, I can't explain it. I just really feel like he's telling the truth." He just scoffed at me.

"Well, he's right about one thing. I can't play on Saturday." Scott said. At least we all agree on something.

"Hey Sophie." Glancing at my left. I looked at the pretty brunette beside me.

"Hi Allison." I said. Grabbing my algebra book before closing my locker.

"So, I was going to run this by Scott, but since I see you. Jackson, Lydia, Scott and I are going out after the game tomorrow. I was wondering if you and Stiles would like to join?" she said with a megawatt smile. I could help but return it.

"I don't know Allison that seems like a couple's thing. Do you really want a 5th and 6th wheel?" I said. Not to mention I don't think I could stand being around Jackson.

"Just think about it ok. I'll see you at lunch" She asked before walking off. Shaking my head, I went to my next class.

We were doing board work and Scott and Lydia were called up first.

"There is a rumor going around that you're not playing in the game tomorrow."

I heard Lydia say. She was talking quietly but I could hear her clear as day.

"Cause I'm sort of not." Scott responded.

"I think you sort of are. Especially when you brutally injure my boyfriend by ramming into him." She said. I couldn't stop the disbelief that ran across my face.

"He brutally injured himself by ramming into me." Scott said annoyance clear in his voice.

"Jacksons going to play tomorrow, but he's not going to be at his peak. I like my boyfriend at peak performance."

She said, turning toward him, before continuing to solve her math problem. She looked to be almost finished while Scott was nowhere near done. This conversation was not helping either.

"I date the captain of the winning lacrosse team, they start losing. I'm dating the captain of the losing team. I don't date losers." She said.

"Losing one game isn't going to kill anyone. In fact, it might even save someone."

"Fine! Don't play. We will probably win anyway, then we'll go out after, like we were planning. And I'll introduce Allison to all the hot players on the team."

She said hitting him where she knew it would get to him.

"And Scott McCall can stay at home surfing the net for porn." With that she placed her chalk down, brushed off her hand and went back to her seat. I gave Scott a sad smile.

"Mr. McCall you're not even close to solving your problem." Mr. Gnats said.

Tell us about it.

"I know it sucks but you're doing the right thing. The very responsible thing." I said to him as he closed his locker in aggravation.

"Yeah well it sucks." He said. Just as my brother came over grabbing us pulling us across the hall.

"Hey, hey. One of you tell me what they're saying." He said pointing. Our dad was here with a deputy talking to the principal.

I tried to focus my hearing on them, but it was difficult with all the movement and chatter in the hall.

"Can you hear them?" Stiles said impatiently. I shushed him.

"I want everyone under the age of 18 to be in their home by 9:30pm. We'd like to institute the curfew immediately." My dad said. This is not good.

"Curfew because of the body." Scott told him. My brother was very unhappy at that news.

"Unbelievable, our dads out looking for a rabid animal, while jerk off who actually killed the girl is hanging out doing whatever he wants." Stiles said. I looked over at him.

"When exactly did we come to the conclusion that Derek was the one who killed someone?" I asked. I was honestly thrown for a loop.

"Sophie, he threatened to KILL Scott, believe it or not your boyfriend is a psycho." My brother said.

"He's not my boyfriend." I said rolling my eyes. "And I told you I don't think he's that one that bit us."

"Again, how would you know that? Feelings don't count here." Stiles said causing me to glare at him.

"None of that matters, we can't exactly tell you dad the truth about Derek." Scott said cutting in.

"Well, we can do something" Stiles continued.

"Like, what?" I asked.

"Like find the other half of the body." Stiles said. This was absolutely nuts.

"I don't think I can do this, guys." I said shaking my head.

"Tell you what. You come with us; we find nothing. You're right. I'll have nothing more to say about Derek" Stiles said. I paused to consider it.

"But what if your wrong?" Scott asked.

"Then we tell our dad. Murder is a huge accusation to pin on someone. I just want to be sure."

They both nodded. And I sighed just hoping that they were wrong.

"I have a bad feeling about this." I told Stiles as we drove over to Scott's house. He had called earlier telling my brother to meet him at his house. Apparently, he went to Derek's house after school to tell him to stay away from Allison after she found her jacket in her locker. The same jacket that Derek used to bait Scott into the woods.

"What? That your crush just might have killed someone." He told me sarcastically.

"Once again, I don't have a crush on him, I don't know him. I just think Scotts motives are a bit blurry."

"So now you don't trust our best friend."

"That's not what im saying, and you know it. Tomorrow's a big night for him. Derek is an obstacle. And as much as I want to believe he wouldn't what if this is just a way to get Derek out of the way."

He looked at me.

"Or your too scared to admit that the guy you might be interested in is a murderer."

After that I had absolutely nothing to say.

Once we got there. My brother jumped out of the jeep, barely putting it in park. I got out at a much slower pace, and followed him in

"There's something buried there. I could smell blood." I heard Scott say at I finally got to his room.

"That's awesome. I mean that's terrible. Who's blood?" Stiles said. I only shook my head.

"I don't know, but when we do, your dad nails Derek for murder." Scott said

"Then you can teach me how to play lacrosse without changing, because there is no way I'm not playing that game."

He tossed his stick on his bed before he and my brother walked out the door with me reluctantly trailing behind.

Before we went to Derek's house we stopped at the hospital. To do recon as Stiles would put it. While Scott went to look in the morgue. Stiles and I stayed in the lobby. As we bent a corner, we saw Lydia sitting in a chair. Grabbing a hold on my brother's arm I tried to get him to walk in the opposite direction but no such luck. He pulled away from me and approached her. Very awkwardly I might add.

"Hey, Lydia. You might not remember me; um I sit behind you in Biology."

He started. She just looked at him twirling her hair. As he continued to fumble around, I picked up the voices coming from her earpiece.

"Wait, just a second." Said Lydia taking out her earpiece and putting a stop to my brother's very embarrassing attempt at asking her out. "I didn't get thing you just said. Was it even worth repeating?"

"No, sorry." He said walking back. I took a seat shaking my head at him.

"Don't say a thing." He told me. I couldn't help but laugh.

It didn't take long for Scott to come back. I stood snatching the magazine out of Stiles hand to grab his attention from Lydia and Jackson making out.

"The scent was the same." He said. My heart dropped to my feet.

"Are you sure?" I asked after swallowing the lump in throat. Scott nodded.

"So, he did bury the other half at his house."

"So, we have proof that he killed the girl" Scott said

"I say we use it." Stiles says looking at me. I shook my head and headed for the door.

"Tell me something Scott. Are you doing this to stop Derek-if he did this-, or because you want to play in the game, and he told you that you couldn't" I asked turning to face him.

"There were bit marks on the legs Sophie. Bite marks." He told me. Sighing, I nodded. How can I argue with them and the amount of evidence against Derek piled up.

"Ok. Then we need a shovel." Stiles said. I hope we don't come to regret this. Though I am already.

We waited until it was pitch black out. Well after curfew. After watching Derek pull off. Stiles drove his jeep closer to the house. Leaving the headlights off. As I got out I had to cover my nose, the smell of blood hit me and something else. Glancing at Scott and Stiles who had the shovels, I turned on my flashlight, and followed behind Scott leading the way.

"Wait. Something's different." Scott said as we headed to the side of what used to be a house.

"Different how?" my brother asked.

"I don't know just different."

"Good different or bad different." I asked.

"I don't know. Let's just get this over with." Scott said as we reached the mound of dirt. I held the light as they dug. Not ready for what im sure we will find. It was taking a while, making me nervous.

"This is taking too long." Scott said.

"Just keep going." Stiles said as he continued to dig.

"Well, what if he comes back.?" I said.

"Then we get the hell out of here."

"What if he catches up?" Said Scott

"I have a plan for that." He said.

"Which is?" I asked him. Not really putting faith in any of Stiles's plans.

"You run one way, I run the other, and we leave Sophie behind as a distraction. If that doesn't work. Whoever he catches that's too bad," He said. Scott and I both looked at him as if he lost his marbles.

"What kind of plan is that?" I asked astonished that he said to leave me behind.

"Out of the three of us, you're the one least likely to get hurt."

"How would you know. You think he murdered someone. Hence the hole the two of you are digging in." My asshole brother just shrugged at me. Shrugged. Unbelievable some big brother he is.

I heard a thud as Stiles hit something.

"Woah, stop, stop, stop."

It looked to be a sack or something with rope tied around it. The boys were having trouble getting them all out. Whatever it was it was surely dead and had been for some time by the smell.

As they pulled the fabric off, they both jumped back out of the hole. Stiles screaming.

"What the hell is that?" he said. I looked in with my light and saw not the body of a young girl, but a black wolf.

"It's a wolf." I told him.

"Yeah, I can see that. I thought you could smell blood. As in human blood." Stiles exclaimed.

"I told you something was different." Scott said defending himself.

"This doesn't make sense."

"Ok. Its an animal. Can we leave now?" I asked. I just wanted to get home and take a nice long shower, before cuddling up with some strawberry ice cream.

"Yes, help me cover this up." My brother asked Scott. But then he stopped.

"What?" I asked following his line of sight. He was looking at a lone purple flower a few feet away.

"You guys see that flower?" he asked up.

"What about it." I asked confused. It was a regular flower. To me anyway.

"I think its wolfsbane." He said. Scott asked what it was. He tried to explain it unsuccessfully before walking over and pulling it up. At the end of the flower was a string. Pulling, he followed it. The string was set in a spiral around the grave. As he pulled I saw a faint red glow around us.

"Stiles, Sophie." Scott said looking back in the hole. We both went back and looked too. What I saw had me stumbling back. There wasn't a wolf there anymore. In its place was a girl. Staring up at us. The same girl from the night Scott and I were attacked.

"Still think he's innocent." Scott asked him and Stiles looking at me. I stared down at the body lost for words.

I didn't get a bit of sleep last night. Scott and Stiles went over to the Hale house to turn in Derek. Me. I took the cowards' way out. I don't have the heart to turn him in. It's like I have this since of loyalty to him. A man I didn't know from Adam. Not only that but the game is today as in a few hours, and Scott is still hell bent on playing in it. Huffing, I finally got out of bed. Where I had been all day and began getting dressed.

After lathering myself in shea butter, I slipped on a pair of jeans, and one of Stiles band T's. I was just finishing tying the lace of my boots when the screeching of tires caught my attention. Running to my balcony I looked to see Stiles pulling into the driveway. Fast. Before running toward the house.

I rushed out of my room and met him as he was coming up the stairs.

"What is it, what happened?" I asked.

"We were coming from the Hale house. I had the wolfsbane in my car. Scott had a reaction to it and shifted. I pulled over to get rid of it and when I turned around, he was gone. I can't find him anywhere." He said.

"So let me get this straight. Scott is somewhere wolfed out roaming the town! Can the two of you do ANYTHING without some sort of supervision" I asked. I could feel my heartbeat rising. My anger with it.

"I know. I don't know what to do." He said his hands on his head. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath. Doing my best to calm down. To think.

"Ok. I'm gonna try calling him, while we go to his house, I need something with his scent. Maybe I can try and track him or something?" I said.

As we headed up the stairs Stiles phone rang. It was Scott.

"Scott? What the hell, where are you?" Stiles said answering the phone putting it on speaker.

"I'm ok. I'm at home. I didn't kill anyone." I heard him say.

"Great because I'm gonna kill you. You scared the hell out of us." I told him.

"I scared myself. But I'm ok. I'll see you guys at the game." He said before hanging up. Shaking my head in disbelief.

"I'll meet you at the car." I told my brother, before walking off. Praying that we catch a break tonight.

"Oh, and Sophie. We are most definitely busted." So that would be a no.

Our dad met us at school. After seeing Stiles off we went to find some seats. There were already quite a few people there. Including Allison and her hunter father. I also saw Scott's mom Melissa. She took off to see Scott play in his first game. She looked so excited as she waved to Scott as he and Stiles walked out on the field. I paused as I saw Lydia approach Scott.

"Scott, I just want you to remember on thing for tonight." I heard her say.

"Uh, winning isn't everything" he said. She chuckled.

"Nobody likes a loser." With that she gave him a pat and found her a seat by Allison. I went and stood by Ms. McCall while my walked over to Stiles just as the whistle blew and the first line of both teams went on the field. Me praying that everything will be okay.

"So, kid. Think your gonna get any action tonight?" Our dad asked.

"Action? Maybe."

"Sophie, are you ok. You look more nervous that I am." Ms. McCall said.

"I'm fine. Just nervous for Scott, but I'm sure he'll do great." I hope.

The whistle blew, the crowd was at its feet and the game was on. It looked like things were going well. Until Jackson checked Scott to score. I winced as I saw Lydia and Allison holding up a" We love Jackson" sign. This was not going to end well. As the team was in the huddle, I saw that Scott was extra interested in what they were saying. Concentrating I honed in.

"What. Did. I. Say?" I heard Jackson say.

"Don't pass to McCall." Danny answered. Oh shit.

As the game went on. The more nervous I got. The team were indeed listening to there captain and refused to pass to Scott or were giving bad passes.

The score was 5 to 3 with us trailing.

I heard Mr. Argent ask which player Scott was. That set me on edge. He was the last person Scott needed to pay attention to him. To make matters even worse- as if that were possible- Lydia had Allison holding up that damn sign again for Jackson. I saw Scotts eyes flash with gold before he took off, jumping over two players catching the ball, and darting down the field. Dodging players as he went and Scoring. I couldn't help but cheer with the rest of the stadium. As Scott continued to score until were tied.

It wasn't until the last second of the game that I saw that Scott had shifted a bit. His eyes were gold and fangs elongated. I looked back at Mr. Argent to see if he saw it too. It didn't look like he had. Or he had a great poker face. Scott got possession of the ball and headed down field. It looked for a second like he was about to lose control, but he held off and scored. Winning the game.

Everyone jumped to their feet in celebration. I saw Scott take off toward the locker room. Allison following behind. Oh no.

"Allison!" I yelled, running behind her. But Stiles grabbed my hand. I looked at him confused. He pointed to Dad who was on his cell phone.

"Dad, what's wrong?" I asked. He held up a finger. Telling us give him a minute. I listened in on the phone call. Shit was about to hit the fan and fast.

"Stiles, we have to get to Scott. Now.!" I told him running off him behind me. I quickly let him know what I heard on the way. We got to the locker room to see Scott not maiming Allison but kissing her. I turned to give them some privacy, while Stiles looked on like a perv. I hit his chest. Finally, the lip lock ended. Allison said, she had to get back to her father.

"Stiles, Sophie." She said as she left. We turned to Scott who had this dreamy look about him. I' m happy his night turned out good. I hate to ruin it.

"I kissed her" Scott told us as if we weren't standing there to witness it.

"We saw." My brother told him.

"She kissed me."

"Saw that too. Pretty good huh?" I said smiling at him.

"I-I don't know how, but I controlled it. I pulled it back. Maybe it's not that bad. Maybe I can do this." Scott told us. I looked at my brother who was looking at me. Wondering who was gonna give him the latest development of the night.

"Yeah, Yeah, we'll talk later" Stiles said nervously.

"What?" Scott asked looking at us.

We sighed before Stiles continued.

"The, uh medical examiner. Looked at the other half of the body we found."

"And?"

"We, we'll keep it simple. Medical examiner determines killer of girl to be animal. Not human."

"Derek's human, not animal. Derek not killer. Derek let out of jail." I added.

"Are you kidding?" Scott said shocked.

"No, and here's a bigger kick in the ass. Our dad I.D'd the girl -both halves- her name was Laura Hale." Stiles told Scott.

"Derek's sister." I told him.

"His sister?" Scott asked. I nodded yes.

"I still think he killed her." Stiles said. I looked at him.

"What? Why?"

"She could change into an actual wolf. And if Dereks like Scott he can't, maybe that's why he did it" he explained.

"But that still doesn't explain why he did it. Or why he would bury her at his house." I argued.

"I don't know. It's not like he's forth coming."

"None of that matters" Scott said interrupting our banter / argument. "But what does, is that we now have a pissed off werewolf to deal with, more pissed than usual."

And he was right. We are so screwed.

Our dad had to go to the station, so Stiles drove us home.

"Are you hungry, I could fix something quick" I said as we got in. Stiles dropped his gym bag and equipment by the door. I wasn't hungry but maybe he was.

"Nah, I think im just going to call it a night. It's been a long day." As he said I looked at him. He looked tired, more so than he should have. All this with Scott was getting to him, maybe it's too much. But something tells me its only the beginning.

"Okay. I'll see you in the morning." He said before jogging up to his room. I followed and went up to mine. Taking off my coat along the way. I was barely in my room when I was grabbed from behind, a hand covered my mouth, muffling the scream that I let out.

"Sophie its me, I'm not going to hurt you" It was Derek. I snatched out of his grip, my heart racing loudly. I know he could hear it. Moving away to create some distance. I glanced around. My balcony doors were open, that's how he got in.

"What hell, what do you want?" I asked. He put his hands in his leather jacket and stared at me, eyebrows furrowed.

"Did you find what you were looking for." He asked.

"I wouldn't say I was looking for anything, but that's besides the point. You buried your sister in your back yard. Why?"

He shook his head before looking around.

"I wasn't going to leave her in woods to rot Sophie."

Of course not. That I understood.

"I didn't kill my sister, buried her yes. I'd never hurt my family." I looked at him his green eyes staring in mine as he said it. And damn it I believed him. Shocker. But there was something telling me that he was telling me the truth.

"You broke in my house too tell me that, why?" I asked curiously.

"Just wanted you to know. I want you to trust me." He said walking closer to me. Causing my breathing to change, my pulse going into overdrive. I wasn't the only one. I could hear his heart racing in tune with mine.

"If I trust you, then maybe Scott will trust you. Right?" I took a step back. To clear my head.

"I'm not going to be your shortcut to my best friend. If you want Scott to trust you maybe be a little less commanding and more helpful. Show him that he can trust you. That we both can."

I told him as I leaned down and took off my boots tossing them somewhere in the closet. Before looking at him, then my doors, silently asking him to leave.

Nodding he took the hint and moved to the balcony, me following him stopping just at the threshold. I watched as he gave me one more glance before he leaped over the railing and disappeared.
