9 months later and I finally got this out. I admit, I did struggle and I was focused on my other stories. I just started rewatching this with my family, lots of screams from them. Other than that, it was fun watching through two seasons.

Carrie began to wake up when the rays of light peeked through the window. She blinked twice then shot up out of bed when she remembered what happened last night. Quickly pulling on her shoes and jacket, she bolted out of the room and went outside just in time to see Boyd load the dead Creature into the wheelbarrow.

"Sorry, I should be doing this." Carrie said as she picked up the head, staring at the ugly face in disgust then dumped with the body.

"Hey, it's fine, you looked like you needed more sleep anyway. Arm." Boyd pointed at the severed arm on the ground.

Carrie picked it up then placed it with the rest of the Creature.

Boyd covered the remains and began to roll it down the street.

"It's lucky no one is awake yet, otherwise, we'd be having problems." Boyd said as they to the outskirts of Town.

"We're gonna bury this?" Carrie asked as she glanced down at the covered corpse.

"No, we're burning it. We never put these anywhere near our people."

"Good."

They made it to the field but were not expecting to see Kristi and Father Khatri there with their Creature cadaver.

"Sheriff?" Kristi greeted in confusion as they placed dried sticked around the body currently wrapped in in a shroud.

"Hey, we had a small incident last night." Boyd said as he set the barrow down.

"Who did we lose?" Father Khatri asked, his eyes filled with sadness despite growing used to this place.

Boyd smirked then pulled the cover off to show a fresh decapitated Creature in all its ugliness.

They turned to Carrie who looked a little shy, "I... kind of lost my temper last night."

"Nice work." Kristi nodded in approval before she picked up the arm. "What happened to rest of this one?"

"I let her walk away with a warning. She hardly even flinched when I tore it off." She added with exasperation and confusion as she picked up the dead head and brought it over to the other dead body to be burned.

Kristi let out a huff, "Sounds like them. Though I did hear them scream last night. Was that you?" She asked as glanced down at the head in Carrie's hands.

Carrie stared into the dead thing's eyes and nodded, "Yep." Then she placed it on top of the first one's chest.

Boyd and Khatri each took the arms and legs and carried the corpse to the pile and deposited right next to the other one.

Carrie reached her hand out to the dry plants surrounding them and called them forth. Everyone present watched as twigs branches and dried leaves floated in the air and cover the creatures' bodies.

Carrie's arms dropped with a satisfied smile as Kristi grinned, "Showoff."

Carrie blushed and shrugged her shoulders.

Boyd lit a match and tossed it into the pile, they watched as the flames consumed what was left of the creatures.

Khatri did the sign of the cross and let out a breath of relief. Seeing these monsters burn made him and everyone feel better.

"Not a bad way to start the morning." Kristi commented with a smile as she glanced at Carrie.

The sound of a stomach growling made them turn to the new resident.

"Please excuse me." Carrie blushed for making that sound.

Kristi wrapped an arm around her shoulder and guided her away from the bonfire. "C'mon, let's get breakfast. Kenny's mom makes the best food in town."

The two men hung back as the young women journeyed back to town.

"Did you see her kill?" Khatri asked in a very low whisper.

Boyd nodded, "Yeah, she tore one apart through the window. She didn't even need to be outside." He added with a grin, shocking the reverend. "Father Khatri, they're afraid of her. Afraid of her."

Khatri's eyes widened as they stared after Carrie, "We actually have a fighting chance against them."

"Remember, we can't let everyone know just yet." Boyd reminded Khatri as they made it back to town as the residents began to leave their house, surviving yet another night.

"Keep a tight lid, I know." Khatri said as all four of them approached the diner. They entered just in time to see Kenny helping an older woman who he resembles with a steaming pot of food.

The older woman spoke in what sounded like Cantonese when she saw the four people enter.

"Good morning Mrs. Liu. Smells fantastic as ever." Boyd greeted with a good-natured smile, one she returned.

"Morning Sheriff, Father Khatri, Kristi, Carrie." Kenny greeted as he helped set out the plates and glasses.

Mrs. Liu turned to Carrie and gave her a kind smile, "You're new." She spoke in broken English, her eyes filled with warms and understanding, remembering how it was like for her and her family when they arrived.

Carrie waved and introduced herself, "Hi, my name is Carrie White, I just arrived yesterday. It's nice to meet you."

"How was your first night?" Kenny asked as he continued his task.

"Oh, not so bad all thing considered." Carrie shrugged with a small smile.

The sound of a stomach growling filled the diner.

Carrie clenched her eyes shut in embarrassment, "Sorry, that was me."

Mrs. Liu spoke to Kenny in Cantonese, making hand gestures between Carrie and the food.

"Right away Mom." Kenny turned to Carrie and translated, "Mom's says you should have a seat while she gets you something real quick."

"Okay." Carrie responded as she and Kristi went over to the table closest to the doors. Boyd and Khatri joined them a couple moments later with plates full of food and coffee mugs.

Kenny came over to their table and pulled over a chair. "Here we are, Mom's special." He said as he set the plate of eggs in front of Carrie.

Carrie took a forkful and scooped some into her mouth, groaning in relief as her stomach received sustenance. "This is good, your Mom's amazing."

Kenny smiled at the compliment then took a quick glance behind him to see his mom still in the kitchen. Facing the table again, he spoke in a low whisper, "Is that thing out of the clinic?" He really hopes so, he doesn't want that monster near his father. Dead or not.

"Don't worry, we burned it before we got here. Two of them in fact." Boyd assured Kenny after he took a sip of his coffee.

"'Two?'" Kenny raised his eyebrows.

Boyd nodded at Carrie, "She killed another last night when they knocked on her window. Twisted the head right off." He added with a smirk as he made a motion with his hands as though he was ripping a piece of paper in half.

"Is that what that scream was last night?" Kenny asked as he turned to Carrie who blushed under the attention.

"I lost my temper." Carrie simply said as she ate her eggs. "It was actually a good stress reliever."

Kenny breathed out a small laugh as they heard the doors swing open.

"Hi Sara." Kenny greeted as a young slim woman with long thick brown hair, blue eyes and pale skin entered the diner.

Sara turned to the Deputy and smiled at the group sitting together. Her eyes widened when they landed on Carrie.

Carrie made eye contact with the young woman and saw the way she tensed up.

"Uh, Sara this is Carrie, she's our newest resident." Kenny introduced Carrie who stood up and held her hand out shyly.

"Hi, it's nice to meet you." Carrie greeted, giving the girl her best welcoming smile.

Sara gave Carrie a weary glance before grasping her hand in a firm shake. "Hello, welcome to Town. Looks like me and Nathan aren't the latest additions anymore." She said with a rueful smile as sadness filled her eyes.

Carrie grasped Sara's hand with both of hers, "I know what happens at night, and what you all have to do to survive. But I'm here to help in any way I can." She said as she gave Sara a look of understanding and assurance.

Sara smiled at the kindness in the young girl's eyes, "Thank you, we'd all appreciate it." Sara glanced at the kitchen door and released Carrie's hand, "I have to go now, I hope I'll talk to you soon." She left to help out Mrs. Liu as the diner's waitress.

Carrie sat back down, "She's nice."

"Yeah, she's been a great help to my Mom." Kenny stated with a grateful smile. "And speaking of help." His eyes took a quick glance at the door, "Are you going to keep..." He made his fingers wiggle mysteriously to convey her powers, "...doing that every night?"

"If I can help it. But it can be very exhausting if I overuse it." Carrie explained as she watched the group.

"Yeah, I noticed how you knocked out after killing just one of them." Boyd noted, "While it does scare those bastards, don't make a habit of this every night. Only in emergency cases." He advised, not wanting to risk the girl's life after what happened.

"That's another thing we need to worry about, it will only be a matter of time before people find out." Kristi stated, watching how Carrie tensed up slightly.

Boyd sighed and nodded, "I know, we'll take it slow, let Carrie adjust to the Town and its residents before the reveal."

"When do you suppose that will be?" Khatri asked him, looking skeptical.

Boyd didn't answer, instead, he turned to Carrie.

Swallowing another scoop of eggs, Carrie contemplated the answer then sighed, "One month. Give me one month before we tell them."

"Are you sure?" Boyd asked watching the conflict with Carrie's eyes.

Carrie nodded slowly, "We can't avoid it forever. I want the residents here to trust me. More than that, I want to protect them with everything I have." She breathed out through her nose, "I'll show them myself. How they react is up to them."

"Sounds about fair Sheriff." Kenny said with a nod.

Boyd nodded after a moment, "Alright. One month."

Carrie sighed in relief, glad to be given some time before the truth comes out.

"There's also the Choosing Ceremony." Kristi reminded them.

"Right, another thing we must do today. Father Khatri, I have to go around and inform the residents." Boyd stated as he finished his plate of breakfast.

"Wait, are you just gonna leave? What about Carrie?" Kenny asked as the Sheriff and priest stood up from the table.

"I'll be fine. I'd like to have some time to myself if that's okay." Carrie assured them, needing some time to herself after all the madness that happened yesterday.

"Are you sure?" Boyd asked as Carie gave him a reassuring smile.

"I'll be fine."

Boyd was silent for a moment then nodded, "Okay, just come back by midday, okay?"

"Yes sir." Carrie said before finishing off her plate then stood up. "Where can I wash my plate?"

"Oh, this way." Kenny stood up and led her to the kitchen in the back.

"I better return to the clinic and check in with Bai-Qian." Kristi said as she too got up and left.

Boyd and Khatri were the last to leave before they set out to spread the word of another choosing ceremony.

Carrie walked around the town, taking in the fresh air and passing by broken cars and fellow residents. She gave the passersby friendly smiles while wandering aimlessly through the streets.

She made it to a wide-open field just outside of town and found a very tall tree that stood out just outside the tree line. Concentrating on the air around her, she levitated herself up until she stood on the highest branch of the tree. She looked above and beyond the town, catching every detail on the buildings and broken cars. She took a deep breath and turned towards the forest, trying to see the highway or even the next town over. But all she could see was trees.

Carrie let out a breath as she stared at the forest, the Creatures that come out of there at nightfall must come from somewhere. If she can find where they sleep, then maybe she can kill them before they reemerge before dark. But that's taking a big risk since she has no idea what else lurks in the forest. One thing is for certain, they know about her, and they now realize they aren't indestructible.

Carrie nodded to herself before she floated down until she touched the ground before she made her way back to town.

A tree branch snapping made her look to her right but saw no one. Figuring it was an animal, she shrugged and ventured on her way. She stopped when she felt someone's eyes on her. This didn't feel malevolent like that night. It was more akin to curiosity. She looked around and spotted someone standing a few yards away from her. A boy in white shirt and shorts.

Carrie stared at the boy for a few seconds, "Hello?"

The boy didn't respond, he just continued to watch her.

"My name is Carrie. Are you from Colony House?" Carrie asked as she took a step forward.

Still, the boy did not make a sound.

Carrie felt something was off about the boy, he didn't feel threatening, but she knew deep in her gut this kid was different.

"Do you have a name?" Carrie tried again, but got no response, only an enigmatic smile.

"Carrie."

She turned and saw Kenny approaching her from the path she took.

"What are you doing?"

"There's this little boy, he-" Carrie turned back to the spot where the boy in white stood, but he was not there. She looked around and searched the area, but could not find him. "He was just here."

"Who?" Kenny looked around with Carrie.

"A child. A boy in white clothes. He was standing right here watching me." Carrie said with a confused expression.

"Did he say anything?" Kenny asked as he watched Carrie's face.

She shook her head, "No. I tried talking to him, but he never responded. He was just watching."

Kenny was silent as he listened to Carrie.

"Kenny, I'm not crazy." Carrie stated, though right now, she feels she has to question her own sanity in this place.

"I didn't say you are." Kenny sighed as he looked down, "This place...has a way of messing with people's heads. It's not just the monsters from the forest we need to worry about, it's ourselves." He looked up and frowned, "Being trapped here can have a psychological effect on a person's mind. Fighting to survive every night can put a lot of mental strain on them. It has happened before."

Carrie frowned, looking slightly discomforted as she listened to Kenny.

"But Carrie, I need you to know that you're not alone. We're all here together fighting to get home, and we cannot let this place break us. If that happens, we've lost." Kenny swallowed and let out a breath, "If anything's bothering you, you can talk to me, I promise I'll listen."

Carrie smiled at Kenny and nodded, "Thank you. I'll remember that."

Kenny offered his arm like a gentleman, "Shall I escort you back to Town then?"

Carrie looped her arm with his, "I'd appreciate that."

The Deputy and Telekinetic walked back to Town.

The boy in white watched them with a relieved smile.

By midday, everyone from the Town and Colony gathered in a grassy area around a large stone slab with rocks and flowers.

"Today, our newcomer Carrie will choose where they will spend her days here with us." Khatri began as everyone gathered around listened to the priest, "Should you choose to spend time with the people of the Town, to live by our rules, for the good of the community, until we find our way back home, you will select the rock. Should you choose to live in Colony House, to live for today because tomorrow is not guaranteed, you will select the flower. Now once you have chosen, this choice will be final. Like many of us all here, we all chose where we each feel most comfortable with, where we feel safe. Now that choice is yours Carrie White."

Carrie took a step towards the slab, staring at the rocks and flowers. She looked up at Boyd, the man who has been a gentle yet firm guiding figure to her, unjudgmental of her abilities and showing kindness and patience towards her. Her eyes averted to Donna and the gathered residents of Colony House. She can see how close-knit and protective they are of each other, something she never had growing up. Staring at the rock and the flower she took a deep breath, exhaled, then held her hand over them.

She picked up the chosen item and looked up at the residents, "I wish to stay with Town, if you all will have me." She said as she held up the rock for all to see.

Boyd nodded, "Alright then, welcome to Town."

Carrie smiled as she went over to where Boyd stood, "I'll do my best to make sure everyone lives through each night."

Boyd placed a hand on her shoulder, "Thank you."

With the Choosing Ceremony concluded, everyone dispersed.

Carrie walked beside Boyd who glanced back at the people returning to Colony House, at the young man walking hand-in-hand with a beautiful woman. Regret and pain filled his eyes as he turned away.

Carrie rested a hand on Boyd's arm and gave him a gentle squeeze. He glanced at her and saw her giving him a comforting smile. He nodded at her in thanks as they journeyed back to the Sheriff Station.

Carrie looked up at the sun slowly moving through the sky then at the forest surrounding the Town. She didn't care what it took, she will protect everyone from the monsters lurking in the night. Even if the Townspeople fear her, it will not deter her from her mission.
