Chapter 188: Project Paradoxum Pt. 1
Today was a special day for Twilight. The princess was doing something she always wanted to do on her bucket list: lecture at Canterlot Lecture Hall in front of a full audience. Despite having several anxiety attacks beforehand, the princess' partner had managed to calm her down. Now, the girl was standing on stage, and many people listened to the girl intensely as they soaked up every word that left the princess' royal mouth.
"If someone told me that when I was a little kid, I'd one day give a speech to a class at Canterlot's Gifted School for Young Scholars class, I wouldn't have believed it. But…" Twilight then quickly shuffled her notes so she could continue her speech. "I hope that I've been up to the task because I can tell that all of you are and that the future of Equis is in good hands."
Then, there was a long pause, and only one person clapping. The view showed that Spike was the only person in the audience. However, the impact of Twilight's words on him was significant, as he clapped with a sense of pride and admiration for his big sister. Guess it wasn't mentioned that this was one of Twilight's practice rounds.
"Wow, hehe," said Spike with a brave smile, "That was even better than the first eleven times." He cleared his throat and continued to smile sheepishly.
"Storm, what do you think?" asked the girl as she looked over at her partner, leaning against the wall, hoping to get a more concrete answer.
"I mean, you're making progress. You're not running into my arms and panicking," said the boy. Twilight rushed to him during the first trial runs to calm her nerves. "Plus, you didn't stutter."
The princess glared at her partner for making that first comment but smiled upon hearing the second.
"Eh, I don't know," said the girl as she walked away from the podium, "I'd like to get through the whole speech without looking at the cards."
"Come on, Twilight! You can't be nervous about giving a speech to a bunch of students!" encouraged the young prince to his sibling.
"Oh, I'm not nervous, Spike."
"Denial," coughed Storm into his hand as Twilight used the Force to knock him over while sticking her tongue out at her partner. "But I do have to set a good example, especially for the students. They will be part of our future when I take over as Queen. That's why this speech needs to be…" The princess gave her little brother a knowing smirk. Spike just slumped over in defeat and sighed.
"Perfect?" replied the little prince.
"Exactly," said the girl as she returned to her podium. "Let's go through it one more time."
Twilight cleared her throat as Spike slumped in his seat in defeat, wanting the practice to end.
Later that afternoon, Amethyst Star and Lyra rushed to the lecture hall since they were late hearing Twilight's lecture. They burst inside only to get dirty glares from nearby people before they went back to listening to Twilight as she stood at the podium. Twilight had been doing just fine with her lecture.
"Obviously, the long-term effects of…" Twilight continued as someone shushed in the background, "... the simultaneous of…" Twilight went to take a sip of her water. "Ahem. Next slide, please."
The princess put an arm over her forehead to look at Spike, who had fallen asleep during her lecture. Fortunately, Moondancer was seated next to the young prince as she gently nudged him awake.
"Huh? Huh!" spluttered Spike as he awoke; he grabbed some slides and put them into the projector. Unfortunately, he put in a picture of himself reclining at the beach before taking the picture out and putting another one in that showed Twilight with the girls.
"I can speak from my own experience that the power of friends is very real. Without friendship, I wouldn't be where I am. But it's even harder to fathom what my life would be like without it. I'm so grateful for all that's happened to me. From being a princess to becoming a Jedi, and most importantly, belonging to a long line of ancestry that has helped to flourish Equis into the home it is for all of us."
The girl walked to the front of the stage to look at everyone in the audience. Then she saw a familiar lilac girl with purple hair and a pale blue highlight smirking at her. The princess blinked and scanned the audience, but the girl wasn't found. Storm was off in the shadows as he noticed Twilight's expression. He also looked out to the crowd but didn't see anything unusual. However, his Jedi senses were telling him otherwise.
"But, um…" Twilight stuttered as she shuffled her note cards to get back on track, "The real question about magic is… who it affects…"
Once the lecture was over and the students had asked their questions, the princess got in the carriage with her brother, handmaiden, and partner as they began heading back home. The girl still felt uneasy about what she saw as it didn't go unnoticed by Moondancer.
"What's the matter, Twilight?" asked the handmaiden to her lady.
"I saw… Starlight."
"What?" responded the handmaiden as Storm raised an eyebrow.
"Starlight Glimmer?" repeated Spike as he'd been told of the girl who captured his mother.
"I'm sure I saw her, Spike. But when I looked again, she was gone! I'm just worried what she might be up to," said Twilight as she rubbed her arm before Storm put his around her and pulled her in where she leaned against her partner.
"She'd have to be really stupid if she thinks she can do anything to us again," responded Storm bitterly.
"Whatever it could be, it's nothing good, I bet," said Spike. "Mom and Dad told me she wasn't very happy the last time you saw her."
"Controlling everybody in that village, then targeting me for our family, and then kidnapping Mom. She's not gonna stop until her revenge tour is complete," said Twilight.
"We'll be ready for her next time," assured Storm with a smile that cheered up Twilight's spirits.
The carriage arrived back at the castle, and they all got out.
"Maybe I'm just stressed about the speech I gave. Maybe she's not plotting something," said Twilight as they entered the castle.
"Or it's totally true!" said Spike.
Twilight, Storm, and Moondancer looked, and their eyes bugged out. Standing before them in front of a pile of guards was Starlight. The girl had invaded the castle, and the guards did their job of capturing her, but she overpowered them. Storm pulled out his lightsaber as Moondancer had Spike get behind her while powering up her hands with magic, ready to do her job of protecting the small prince.
"Welcome home, Twilight!" said Starlight deviously. She pulled out an old sheet of paper and fired her magic at it before writing something on it.
"You got some nerve showing up!" exclaimed Storm.
The girl wasn't listening to the Jedi as she finished writing what she needed before pulling out the small capsule that still contained some of Twilight's magic that she took when she captured her mother.
"What are you doing here, Starlight?" demanded the princess as the girl laughed haughtily.
"I'd tell you, but I don't want to ruin the surprise!" boasted the girl. She then broke the capsule as the magic contained released.
It caused all four to look away as the magic engulfed Starlight herself. Some magic rings began to circle her as some winds picked up. They all held onto something as Spike, being the lightest, lost his grip.
"Spike!" shouted Twilight as she saw her brother flying away.
The little prince cried for help as Storm let go and let the wind guide him toward the boy. He grabbed Twilight's brother before planting his lightsaber into the castle floor, which served as an anchor. All the while, Starlight stood in the center as a dome-like portal with clocks appeared above the rings. She looked at it deviously as the rings disappeared and smiled smugly at the others.
"I did it, Dad," said the girl as she felt herself beginning to float up into the air and sucked into the dome as she disappeared along with it.
The wind died down as all four let out some breaths they were holding.
"Spike!" shouted Twilight as she rushed to her partner, who was still holding the boy close to him.
"Twilight!" responded the small prince to his sister as they hugged.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Twilight. Thanks to Storm." said the boy as they looked at the Jedi, who dusted himself off. "But where'd Starlight go?"
"I'm not sure, but I think we'd better find out!" said the girl to her sibling.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," said Storm as he helped Moondancer reach her feet.
"I guess we could start with this," said Spike as he reached for the piece of paper Starlight had.
"Spike, no! Don't touch that!" shouted Twilight.
As soon as the small prince touched the paper, the portal was reactivated, and it began to suck all four in. Moondancer quickly used her magic to shoot out a magic whip from one hand that wrapped around the door handle, and she used her other hand to fire a whip and grab Storm's hand. The Jedi was holding onto Twilight, who was holding onto Spike as the small prince looked down to see the portal trying to suck them all in. The handmaiden tried to hold on as she felt her grip slip from how much stronger the portal was.
"Twilight!" shouted Spike as he was a bit afraid.
"Spike, hold on!" said the girl, having to act fast, given that she felt her grip slipping on her brother. She then looked back at her partner and handmaiden as an idea crossed her mind. "Spike, let go."
"What?" said the small prince to his sister.
"Let go! Trust me!" said the girl.
The prince didn't know if he should listen to his sister, but he had no choice. He released his hold and let the portal suck him in closer.
"Moondancer!" shouted Twilight to her handmaiden.
The princess used her now free hand to grab her brother with the Force and quickly fling him toward the handmaiden. She saw the small prince coming at her, and she released the magic whip, holding Storm to fire it at Spike to catch him out of the air and pull him toward her. The small prince was grated to be safe as he and Moondancer held on while Storm and Twilight were being sucked in along with the piece of paper that Twilight grabbed out of the air. The portal then closed as both Jedi Knights were sucked in.
"Twilight!" shouted Spike.
"Storm!" said Moondancer.
The two had witnessed the pair enter the portal and were now gone. Neither knew where they were.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" screamed Twilight as Storm put his arms out to stop his momentum.
He saw Twilight still falling as he tucked himself in to dive at her. He put his hand out, grabbed ahold of Twilight, and had her swing around to clutch his neck. The pair were traveling through what looked like a portal as they saw a sand dial appear before them. The portal reopened them as they dropped into a dense, deep jungle.
The two landed, and as they were lucky, nothing was broken. The piece of paper landed beside Twilight, and she took it and rolled it up before putting it inside her skirt pocket.
"Where… are we?" asked Storm as he came to and looked around.
"I'm not sure," said Twilight as she took in their surroundings, which didn't seem familiar to her. "Hey, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm good," said the boy to his partner.
"Thanks," said Twilight as she hugged her friend before kissing his cheek.
"Hey, we're partners. Wherever you go, I go. Plus, you did make me your bodyguard." chuckled Storm as Twilight did the same. "So… what now?"
"I'm not sure. I guess we should see if there's any town or city nearby. But we don't have much time. Judging by the sun, it'll be dark soon."
"Then let's get going," said the boy.
The two Jedi then began to scour the forest for any signs of life to pinpoint where they might be. Their search went on for about two hours, but no matter where they looked, it was dense green. Ultimately, with the sun going down and darkness starting to take hold, the pair decided to make camp. Using whatever was around them, they made a decent hut of sticks and dirt as Storm started a fire to keep them warm.
Twilight was looking over Starlight's paper, which had many runes and other sorts of text, and she was having trouble understanding it.
"Any luck?" asked Storm as he came by the girl's side and sat beside her.
"No. There's so much I don't know how to decipher!" said Twilight as she felt defeated and put her head down.
"Hey, Sparky, come on, don't be like that. Cheer up!" said Storm, putting his arm around the princess. "Try to look at the positive side of things. We may not know where we are, but we're not alone. We have each other and had even worse experiences before, especially with Ashoka and Anakin. And we got through them okay."
"I guess you're right," said the girl as she looked at her partner.
"Of course I am. I'm always right!"
"Not always!" retorted Twilight before she giggled, as did Storm.
The princess then snuggled closely to her partner before kissing his cheek again.
"Thanks for being here with me, Storm. I can't imagine anyone else who I'd rather be with."
"Just doing my job, princess."
The girl smiled before she closed her eyes and started to fall asleep. Storm held the girl tightly as he started to feel sleepy as well. The pair soon dozed off as the moon was high above them.
Morning came as Twilight set off to find some food and water. Storm was left back at the campsite to clear some things out. The princess trudged along the jungle as she still tried to decipher the paper she had. Eventually, she came to a stop as the sun was beating down on her, and she was starting to feel hot. Thankfully, she heard some water nearby and soon found a small river.
"Water, yes!" said Twilight as she approached the riverbed.
The girl bent down to cusp some water before splashing it on her face, instantly cooling her off. She then went for another one, and this time, she brought it to her lips and drank some, as it felt refreshing. As the princess went for another handful, something caught the corner of her eye. She noticed a small glint that seemed to come from the sunlight bouncing off something shiny. She lifted her head, and across the river, there appeared to be something looking at her within the bushes. The initial look made Twilight gasp and fall back in fear, and when she looked back out, whatever the thing was was gone.
The girl put a hand to her beating heart to get it to calm down. She took a deep breath before reaching the river and splashing more water onto herself. Once she shook herself and stood, she turned to head back when she made contact with something. That something was a chest, and it wasn't Storm. She stepped back and looked up to see a human wearing sandals, hair reaching his shoulders, and pierced ear lobes with earplugs made from wood. However, the man was decorated in animal fur and hides, as if he were some kind of warrior.
The sudden intruder took Twilight aback as he stared down the girl. She didn't have time to register the situation when she heard something.
"Twilight!"
"Storm!" said the girl as she heard her partner's cry for help.
She quickly got up and took off as the man looked at the girl. The princess followed her partner's voice as she hurried through the jungle. She soon came to their campsite and halted upon what she saw. Storm was shown as having ropes around his wrists and ankles as several other people like the one she saw before were surrounding the boy. They were trying to subdue him as the Jedi fought back. A few other warriors raised their weapons and looked to stab at the boy. He moved out of the way of some spears as he saw that the top was made from obsidian, which, if made contact, would cut him. He grunted and yelled as he timed one of the daggers to cut one of the ropes holding his wrist.
With a free hand, he called on the Force to pull his lightsaber toward him and quickly cut off the other ropes. The tribe of warriors stopped when they saw the boy wielding his weapon, as they didn't know what to make of it.
"I don't want to hurt you, but I will if I have to!" said the boy to the hunters. He twirled his lightsaber around his body to warn the warriors to back off.
It seemed to work, but they weren't backing down, and they slowly and carefully tried to get close to the boy. Twilight was about to rush in and help her partner when she got herself held back. She turned and saw that the man she spotted before was grabbing her shoulder and keeping her from escaping.
"Storm!"
"Twilight!" shouted the boy as he saw his partner in danger.
Before he could act, one of the warriors snuck up behind him and whacked him on the back of his head. The boy felt the hit as it knocked him out, and he fell forward. Almost immediately, the hunters jumped on the boy and tried him up.
"Leave him alone!" shouted Twilight as the man holding her back signaled his men and said something she didn't understand before moving with Twilight still in his hands.
The warrior and his men were now leading the princess away. Storm was tied up with many ropes as they pulled the boy along. He was still knocked out as Twilight wished she could check on him. She turned forward to look at the man in charge as she spoke.
"Where are you taking us?" asked the princess, hoping to get a response but didn't. "I said where are you taking us?"
The man looked at the girl as if he didn't understand her. They soon came to a hill, and they stopped. Twilight looked out and gasped; in the distance, there appeared to be some kind of city surrounded by water and huge temples. The princess looked at the city and was amazed to see it floating on the water. The group then began to walk down the trail toward it. The girl was curious about how they would get there when she noticed a long causeway stretching from the mainland to the island. The bridge on the causeway they were on lowered as it allowed them to pass through. Soon, they entered the city grounds, and Twilight was taken aback by what she saw again. Women and children were shown in the temple grounds of the city, and some men were all working.
The citizens of this temple city noticed the group of warriors and the two bound Jedi, and they were taken aback, mostly by their clothing, which was far more sophisticated than what they wore, but also by their features. They soon arrived at the main temple and entered to find what looked to be the ruler of this great ancient temple city, who stood on a throne. He was donned in the most luscious of stuff as it signaled his status and emphasized his role as leader. The warrior in charge stepped forward as he spoke in his ancient dialect that Twilight could barely understand. However, there was one word she could hear plain as day.
"... Astros…"
"Astros?" said the girl, as that name meant something to her.
Before she could do anything, the ruler lifted his hand and spoke with authority in his tongue as the one carrying Storm walked away with Twilight being dragged in a different direction.
"Storm!" shouted Twilight as she tried to break free but couldn't and was dragged away.
In one of the temple's rooms, a priest was shown praying in his native dialect and dancing about. Before him, kneeling as he prayed to the heavens, was the ruler's advisor and leading engineer/scholar. The man asked the heavens for help when a warrior came in and whispered to the priest, who stopped his ritual. The priest then whispered into the advisor's ear as his eyes opened. He had a look of intrigue before he got up from his praying.
Twilight was thrown into what appeared to be some kind of hold made of stone. The girl tried to see if there was any way out, but to no avail. Her satchel and weapon were taken from her as she feared what these warriors might do, given it wasn't like any technology they had.
"I have to find Storm and get out of here! Who knows what these people will do to us?" said the girl as she began to devise a way to escape her hold.
At that moment, though, someone entered her hold. The person was the ruler's advisor as he stared down the girl. Twilight looked at the person as if she couldn't help but feel she knew him. How? And why?
"What are you going to do to us?" asked Twilight.
The man just stood there and stared at the girl.
"Answer me! Who are you people?!" shouted the girl.
The man answered in his dialect; however, Twilight didn't know what he was saying.
"I don't understand you! Aggh!" yelled the princess as she kicked some dirt up and sat down before crying. "I wish I was home!"
"Home…"
The girl sniffed and wiped her eyes as she looked at the man who had just spoken.
"Home…" repeated the man.
"Yes, home. I want to go home. To my Mom and Dad and my brothers," said Twilight.
"Where is home?" asked the man.
Twilight then blinked as she looked at the advisor who kneeled down to the girl. Safe to say, she was shocked to hear the man speak in her language as she backed up a bit.
"You understand me?" asked the princess.
"Yes. Speak… not very good," said the advisor, struggling to form the words.
"Wait. I know!" said Twilight. She put her hands together as the tip of her fingers touched and glowed.
The magic she emitted caught the advisor off guard as he drew his dagger, thinking the girl was some kind of evil spirit. Twilight's magic then emitted and enveloped the man and her as it ceased. The princess then looked at the man as he spoke.
"What sorcery did you just do?" said the man in clear dialect.
"I simply cast a spell that allows us to communicate better. Now, when I speak, it's as if I'm speaking in your dialect, and when you speak, it's in my dialect," said Twilight as true to her; the man was hearing the girl speak in his dialect almost fluently.
"Who are you?" asked the advisor as he eyed the girl cautiously.
"My name is Twilight Sparkle," answered the girl.
"What garments do you wear? Those colors are only reserved for the highest authorities and our leader," said the man as he eyed the girl's unique clothing style.
"From where I come from, everyone wears colorful clothing. It's a way to express oneself," said the girl.
"Where do you come from?" asked the man.
"Well… that's hard to explain," said Twilight. "Who are you?"
"My name is Astros," said the man.
Twilight gasped at that moment as she realized who the man before her was.
Some water was heard as Storm awoke, with his hair now wet. The Jedi opened his eyes as the sun blinded him, making him squint. The sound of people was heard as Storm blinked; his vision cleared up as he saw he was standing before a group of people. It consisted of women and men as they all chanted in unison. He was found to have his legs tied to the giant slab of stone that he was standing on. His wrists were also tied, as he could only move them so far before they reached the limit. Around the boy, warriors with animal hides dressed in animal helmets and feather headpieces appeared as they circled the boy. Each had clubs and other sharp obsidian weapons, as it seemed, they would do something to the Jedi.
The boy looked about as a woman came by his side and offered him a weapon of sorts on a slab of stone. He looked at it before picking it up to see it was a club; the woman then left as the boy started to understand what he was being subjected to. From above, a warrior shouted as the jugular warriors around him began to move. Storm saw their movements as he prepped himself. One of the warriors before him went to strike at his knees as he used the club to block the strike. Two more tried as he blocked them while shifting his standing position. The boy stepped back as one of the warriors did a slash at his leg as he felt it. He stumbled back as another warrior didn't waste any time going for an overhead strike; he blocked it before shifting his leg to deliver a kick to the side of the head.
He knocked out the warrior, but the hard helmet hurt him. The display of knocking out one of the elite warriors with just a kick astounded the crowd as they chanted for some bloodshed. Storm managed to get back up as he eyed the rest of the fierce warriors growling and roaring at him to intimidate the teen. He stood his ground and began to fight back; the boy was cautious with his strikes as he made sure that when he landed a hit on the warriors, he didn't kill them but knocked them unconscious. Safe to say, the boy's actions didn't sit well with the crowd. However, with the intense sun beating down on him, Storm started feeling his strength fade.
Another warrior approached the boy as he looked to finish him off. He eyed the teen before going for some fast strikes as Storm blocked them. This one was more difficult as he could tell the warrior was raised from birth to be a fighter and the years of experience showed it. Storm soon fell to his knees as he reached his limit with the intense sun beating down on him; the Jedi was at the mercy of the warrior as he growled and turned to the crowd chanting for bloodshed as he egged them on. The boy was starting to lose consciousness as he felt his fate was already sealed.
"Storm!"
The boy heard the call as he faintly saw what looked like to be Twilight, followed by someone running toward him. The warrior turned around as he lifted his weapon and prepared to end the teen.
"Twilight…"
The warrior brought his weapon down as everything went black.
A sound was heard as it seemed to be that of chatter. Soon a slosh sound was heard as water splashed about. Storm awoke as he sat up from how cold the water was. The boy was panting heavily as several warriors from before who tried to kill him noticed the teen.
"Storm, it's okay. I'm here," said Twilight as she appeared by her partner's side.
"Twilight," said the boy as he turned to see his partner and was happy as she hugged him.
He then blinked twice as he saw the girl no longer in her attire from before and was now wearing the same type of clothing that the woman wore in the square that watched him fight for his life. He then felt something on his upper left shoulder as he was shown wearing some kind of bits of armor around his neck. He looked down as he, too, saw that his attire had been changed, and he looked to resemble that of the guards around him.
"What are you wearing? What am I wearing? Where are we?"
"Storm, calm down. It's okay. We're safe. As for our clothes, I simply cast a spell on them so that we could blend in more with the locals, " the girl said to her friend, as she knew he had questions.
The Jedi was confused until he noticed someone approach them; he sat down and bent down to offer a clay jar full of water.
"Drink up," said the man.
"Thanks," said Storm, taking the jar and bringing it to his lips.
Upon first contact with it, he felt himself becoming cooler and his strength slowly returning. He gulped down the entire jar and let out a refreshing sound. As he wiped his mouth, a thought crossed the boy's mind.
"Twilight, did I just understand him?" asked Storm.
"That would be my magic spell," said Twilight as she informed her partner that her translation spell allowed them to communicate despite the language barrier.
"You should thank your friend for saving your life," said the man.
"Yeah, well, I'm trying not to die!" shouted Storm as he stood up to confront the man, causing the guards to point their spears at him.
"Stay!" said the man, telling the guards to stand down.
"Storm, it's okay. I told you, we're safe now."
"Hey, buddy, can you tell us where we are?" asked Storm.
"You're in the sacred city of Tenochti," answered the man.
"Okay, and what does that mean?!" barked the teen.
"Storm. Tenochti. It's a place that I know too well. It's the place where my ancestor lived his life. My first ancestor." explained Twilight.
"What are you saying, Sparky?" asked the boy to his partner.
"Storm… we're in the home of my very first ancestor, Astros. And… that's him," said Twilight as things began to line up.
The boy didn't believe what his partner said, as he felt this was a sick joke. Twilight pulled out a drawing of her royal crest while Astros revealed a part of his arm that was painted to show a symbol. Despite the difference in drawings, there was a huge similarity between the two star symbols. The boy couldn't believe it, as it seemed what the princess said was true.
"So… that means…"
"We've traveled back in time. Back to when my ancestry first started," said Twilight as that blew Storm's mind, knowing they had gone way back and standing before them was the girl's ancestor.
"Holy shit!" responded the boy.
A messenger was shown running into their leader's throne room sometime later. He gave a scroll to his ruler, who untied the rope and unfurled the paper. He looked at it as he began to read the contents. Meanwhile, Twilight and Storm walked among the sacred city-state of Tenochti as the girl's ancestor gave them a quick tour of their home. Guards followed the pair as, despite getting a pardon from the advisor to their leader, they remained on high alert.
"A fair city, wouldn't you say?" asked Astros as they passed by some fields floating on water growing healthy crops.
"It's amazing!" said Twilight, unable to believe she was standing in her first ancestor's home.
"How'd you convince them we weren't a threat?" asked Storm to his partner.
"Once I did my best to explain to my ancestor who I was and where we came from, he managed to convince his leader that I was his daughter and you were… my soon-to-be-married partner," said Twilight with a bit of a blush.
"Well, whatever worked to save my hind, I'll take it," said Storm, glad to know he wouldn't try to be killed by the guards.
"To think, in all my years as a scholar, something as phenomenal as this is truly capable," said Astros. "Still, the idea that you are my ancestors from the future is quite farfetched, and yet… I believe it."
Before the conversation could continue, an engineer approached Astros and informed the scholar of the delay in bringing materials from the mountains to their city. The advisor assured the engineer he would devise a solution and sent the guards away.
"As beloved as our city is, it would be better if there was a way to secure our materials and bring them down from the mountains much quicker," said the advisor as he was trying to wrap his mind around how to solve this solution.
"If I recall correctly, you said it takes about the force of 50,000 men to drag one stone from the mountains to the mainland," said Twilight.
"Yes. We drag the stones to the mainland, where they're taken across the water on the causeway and into the city. But there's a problem. Getting fresh water to the people to keep up with demand and transportation itself. If only there were a way to reduce time and men's effort." said the advisor, stroking his chin, trying to come up with a solution. "Maybe the heavens will finally listen to my prayers. But what should I ask of them?"
"Maybe for some help… trying ask them for some kind of animal," suggested Twilight.
"An animal?" said the man, raising an eyebrow at his distinct ancestor.
"Maybe an animal capable of carrying more weight than the human body can, and you can ride on them," said the girl.
"Mmm."
The girl's ancestor just looked at the girl as he thought about her idea. A part of it sounded dumb as he just left. At that moment, both Jedi were grabbed by their arms and taken away. Some higher-ranking soldiers grabbed Storm as they dragged the warrior away.
"Hey! Where are we going?!" shouted the Jedi as the soldiers ignored him.
"I guess I'll see you later," said Twilight as some women dragged her away.
The two were now separated as they were being put to work. For Twilight, she was instructed by the other women and young girls to do her duty and go around the fields to all the men harvesting the crops. The Jedi was shoved into the fields as she began to do her job and lug around clay jars full of water to give to the men. With Storm, the boy was brought to the training grounds of the massive city as he was shoved in the back and stumbled forward. He turned and was given a club by one of the elite warriors and a shield.
The boy was confused before he was kicked in the chest and fell back. He growled as he had had enough abuse, and at that moment, an arrow landed by his arrow. He turned as he looked to see another warrior dressed in similar battle armor standing before him. The feathers on his head signified his status as one of the elite Jaguar warriors and the toughest fighters. Around them, the other warriors began to chant and shout while stomping their feet and weapons on the ground. The banging was getting louder and louder as the elite warrior didn't wait for Storm to approach and charged at the Jedi Knight.
Storm stood his ground, twirled his club before waiting at the last second, and flipped over the elite warrior's strike. The boy landed behind and did a backflip to put some distance between him; the warrior growled like a fierce animal. In times like these Storm wished he had his lightsaber as the warrior ran right at him. He looked to jump over, but the elite fighter caught the boy in the air and tackled him to the floor. The pair tumbled as the Jaguar warrior growled as he tried to punch the boy. Storm moved his head out of the way of his opponent's fist before catching one of them and locking his legs to apply a triangle submission. The guard got the boy on his shoulders as he reversed the momentum of his weight and began to slowly pick up the boy who still had his submission hold locked in.
The elite warrior was about to slam the boy back on the ground as Storm tightened his hold of his submission to make the fighter slowly drop to a knee before he released and quickly transitioned to apply a sleeper hold. The boy was now trying to squeeze the air out of his opponent, but the warrior countered his hold by reaching back and grabbing him to fling him forward. Storm recovered and tumbled just as the fighter delivered a hard hit with the brunt of his arm. The boy fell and was nearly knocked out from such a blow but stayed on his feet. The Jedi was quickly swept off his feet and hit the ground; his opponent was about to drive his club down on the boy. He instinctively put his hands up as his Force powers triggered; the Jaguar warrior was sent flying back a bit and tumbled on the ground.
Storm got to a knee and panted. All the other fighters were stunned by what they saw. It seemed the boy used some kind of sorcery to fling his opponent back. The warrior was helped to his feet by his comrades as they looked to confront the boy and his sorcery, but he vanished.
For Twilight, she was shown carrying heavy baskets full of clothes across the city. She passed the main temple before she had to take a moment to catch her breath. The girl was delivering more food and supplies to the many harvesters and workers on their projects as she was being worked like a pack mule. The girl brought the basket to a small stone house, dropped it into the cauldron of hot water, and began to stir the object.
"How did my ancestors survive without technology?" asked Twilight as she took for granted how well-advanced they were in the future.
At that moment, a cry rang out. She peeked out to see Storm all tied up and dragged toward the base of the central temple. It seemed the boy was now labeled a threat due to his Force powers that spooked the natives. Now, the teen was looking to be dealt with by the leader of the city; Storm was untied and tossed to the hard stone floor. The boy was then forced to look at the leader as he pointed a dagger at his neck. He looked to the crowd and spoke in their dialect before walking up the temple with Storm being dragged behind him.
"Uh-oh," said Twilight as she needed to help her partner.
"Let me go!" shouted Storm as he tried to break free.
The boy struggled as hard as he could while leading up the temple. In the distance, he could see what looked to be a stone slab, as what the leader said to the crowd of people was he would deal with the boy and his sorcery powers by cutting open his chest and pulling out his beating heart to give to the heavens. Then he would cut Storm's head off and roll his body down the temple stairs. Safe to say, the boy would be fed as part of some kind of ritual to please the heavens and rid them of the evil he had.
They reached the top as Storm tried to fight but was shoved onto the stone slab and tied down. The leader stood before him before addressing the people watching at the bottom of the temple stairs. They made noises as if they were excited to see him have his organ ripped out. The leader then turned as he pointed his obsidian dagger downward so that the tip was positioned above Storm's chest where his heart was. The boy struggled to break free, but it was of no use. The dagger then went down as a sound was heard.
Storm closed his eyes and prepared for the worst. The dagger stopped just a mere inch from sinking in and cutting his flesh open as the leader turned his head. Astros was shown pushing through the crowd of elite warriors as he approached his friend. The advisor spoke something into his leader's ear as Storm had no clue what it meant. His eyes then caught wind of Twilight hidden behind some of the guards as it was clear she had gone to fetch her ancestor to save him. However, for Twilight, Astros wasn't here to spare Storm from the public ritual but to inform his friend of something groundbreaking. Something that was for their civilization. The leader listened to what his advisor said as he responded to him. He then turned to the crowd of people down below and gestured them to follow Astros.
The group then followed the advisor, leaving Storm tied to the stone slab. Once the last guard was out of sight, Twilight emerged, silently made her way to the stone table, and untied her partner.
"Nice of you to show up, Sparky," said the boy.
"Yeah, well, my ancestor wasn't here to actually save you. It just so happened he needed to speak with the ruler, and I told him where he was," said the girl as she finished untying her partner.
"So, what did your ancestor tell him?" asked Storm as he rubbed his wrists.
"His prayers have been answered," stated the girl.
In truth, what Twilight meant was that Astros' problem of trying to find a solution to increase the workforce and lower the exhaust of the men they had was answered. The advisor prayed to the heavens for some kind of answer, and they granted him it. And it was in the form of a horse. It seemed Twilight's suggestion to her ancestor had worked as, sure enough, the heavens above answered the advisor's prayers. Astros led the people and his ruler to the creature given to them. The advisor stood before a horse as it neighed and began to graze on the grass growing on a plantation floating on the water.
The ruler and the people were in awe at the magnificent creature given to them as a gift from the heavens. The advisor approached the creature as he placed his hand on the horse's nose, and it responded to the human as their bond and contact was made. The people then began approaching the mysterious creature and asking Astros questions in their native tongue. Watching from some bushes were the two Jedi Knights as they spotted the girl's ancestor being surrounded by the other people.
"What's happening?"
"My ancestor has just completed an important mark in history for Equis. In the history books, he asked the heavens for help in building their city. The records say that he prayed to the heavens and, in return, granted them an animal. That animal was a horse. In fact, that's how horses came to be… my ancestor prayed and was given a sign."
"I see. Hold on a sec. So, if we've gone back in time, and this is the moment when your ancestor introduced horses to Equis, does that mean we've changed history?"
"What do you mean?" asked the girl to her partner.
"Well, you were the one to suggest it to him. So wouldn't that change how history is written," asked the Jedi.
"As long as we don't directly influence important historical events, things should still play out as they were. So, unless my ancestor wants to credit me for the idea, that might be a problem. But from the looks of things," said the princess as the two turned to look at her ancestor, whom his people were praising, "It seems we might not have to worry about that."
The days to follow were glorious for the people of Tenochti as the gift from the heavens was like striking gold. The new amazing creature was a massive improvement to the workforce as certain projects got done in record time. The transportation of supplies from the mountains was cut down in half due to the horse's amazing traits and strength. Astros was hailed as a hero for the amazing gift he could provide them; the advisor even found a position for Storm, and when he introduced the idea of using the horse for their warriors, the creatures were immediately drawn toward the boy. His bond and connection with their new gift took some tension off the Jedi, and he was considered the caretaker for all the animals and taught the warriors how to handle the creature.
The city flourished in record time as it expanded and grew tenfold daily. However, with the sudden expansion, it didn't take long before wandering eyes caught wind of Tenochti's advancements. A mysterious person was shown looking through the leaves from a nearby treetop. He eyed some Tenochti people before he spotted a warrior galloping about on a horse with a woman behind him. The woman got off the creature and reached into some saddle packs on the creature to pull out clay jars to give some water to the workers. The mysterious intruder eyed the creature the Jaguar warrior was on as he quickly dropped down and vanished.
The mysterious scout soon returned to his city-state territory across the lake of Tenochti and onto the mainland. He arrived at a small village and ran into a massive hut. The scout appeared and quickly got down to a knee as he was before a throne. He lifted his head as he began to speak with their tribal chief. He informed their leader about their tribal enemies, the people of Tenochti, and the amazing new creatures that they had. The tribal leader listened to the details of what his scout said as hearing about the new creature his enemies had got him riled up. It was one thing that they all decided to leave under his rule of thumb to avoid his tyranny, but to go and create their own civilization with all these amazing resources and achievements, it irked him. As far as he was concerned, he and his tribe were the largest gathering of people as he was a warlord of several city-states that all answered to him. His enemies were barely but thousands of people, so what was to stop them from launching a takeover of their civilization?
Once the scout finished his report, the warlord leaned back in his chair as he pondered what to do about his enemies. Someone leaned into the warlord's ear from the shadows and whispered to him. What was said made him smile, so he spoke in his dialect to his scout, who nodded and responded before leaving to carry out his task.
Nighttime had fallen on the city of Tenochti, as torches were lit all along the city roads and temples. The stars shined above them as some guards patrolled the entire city. Twilight was in the home of her ancestor, doing her sewing and cleaning tasks. If there was one thing that the princess was grateful about the future, it was that the hierarchy wasn't heavily male-dominated like it was during Astros' time. All day, the girl had been given the tasks that all women and young girls were required to do to serve the men as if it were their sole purpose. At least they weren't violent, just very strict with her to complete her duties.
"I'll never take anything in the future for granted ever again!" said Twilight as she leaned back in her chair and sighed.
At that moment, Storm arrived as he finished caring for the horses. The Jedi entered the home of the girl's ancestor as he could see how tired she was.
"What took you so long?" complained Twilight.
"Yeesh, chill, Sparky. I was just doing my job!"
"Don't tell me to calm down!" yelled Twilight as she let her anger and emotions out, which made the boy jump back a bit at her outburst. The girl then realized what she had done as she sighed before rubbing her eyes. "I'm sorry, Storm. It's just… I'm tired."
"I can tell," said the boy, as he could see how stressed his partner was.
"I miss the future. Everything sucks without technology to do the heavy lifting," said the girl as she was at her wit's end.
Storm set down his satchel and approached the girl. The boy sat beside the girl in front of the cauldron as he put his arm around her. Twilight instinctively buried her face into the boy's chest; the Jedi Knight held the princess as he rubbed her back. Twilight's ancestor was shown with a pair of sticks at that moment. He glanced at the two before heading up the small stairs to the home's open roof. The advisor had a small table with many scrolls; he put the sticks near the scrolls and looked at his findings. He then grabbed the sticks and lifted them high to crisscross.
At that moment, a scream was heard. It caught the attention of the nearby guards as they looked at the main temple that housed their ruler. Astros picked up on it as he dropped his stuff and raced toward the main temple. The two Jedi picked up on his sudden movement as they decided to see what was the matter. As Astros climbed the main temple, he entered the throne room and immediately halted upon what he saw. There, lying across the feet of the temple, was his friend and their leader, but the key detail was the many arrows embedded in his back. The advisor approached the body of his fallen ally as the elite guards stood around; he turned his ruler over and saw his eyes were closed. He also noticed on the chest of his ruler was a scroll pinned into his chest as it left an eerie message. The advisor grabbed to read it when loud noises began to occur momentarily.
A brawl was occurring near the stables as the Jaguar warriors fought against mysterious invaders who snuck into their territory and were planning to take their horses. Slashes and strikes were heard before bodies began to drop as the one in charge of the raid shouted to his men, who got a handful of horses before they each got on one and began to ride off. The elite fighters slew the remaining men left behind as they disappeared into the night. Astros arrived at the last second as he caught a glimpse of a necklace that one of the intruders wore, and it made his eyes widen a bit. With that, the raiders disappeared under the cover of night as they accomplished their mission.
In the morning, the council of Tenochti was gathered. From the note left behind and the seize of their most beloved creature, it was clear this was no ordinary meet but rather a discussion of war. Each council member barked their responses, and all the while, the Astros sat holding the feathers that were a part of his friend's crown, which signified leadership. Eventually, every member turned to Astros as they looked for his decision since he technically had the higher power due to being the advisor of their late leader. He responded profoundly with one look at the feather he held before gazing at the heavens.
"What's happening, Sparky?" asked Storm.
"My ancestor just said: Paint the sky with their blood," said the girl.
"What does that mean?" asked the pair as they stood outside the throne room.
"See, last night was an important event in my family's history. History foretold that my ancestors' rival tribe invaded their home to not only assassinate the leader for demanding them to surrender to them but also stole some of their horses for their own gain. And in response, my ancestor decided to go to war. To punish those responsible and finally seize the claim of the mainland. See, my ancestor and his people used to live under a ruthless warlord. When they had the chance to escape and make their own land, they did so, but not without sacrifices. Now it seems they want to wipe out my ancestor and his people, but for Astros, if he wipes out his rivals, he'll finally have full control of the mountain and freely transport materials without worry. This is an important event not only in the history of Equis but also for my family."
"So, what happens to us then?" asked Storm, unsure how this event that was happening before their eyes would play out for the two travelers from the future.
"I don't know… I need to speak with him," said Twilight, hoping to talk with her ancestor.
Once Astros decided to go to war, he and the rest of the warriors began to prepare, as they wanted to strike as soon as possible. Twilight tried to speak with her ancestor, but he wouldn't listen to the girl, even if she were part of his bloodline. For him, he had a mission to slaughter his foe and finally lay claim to the mountain and the mainland they had their eyes on. For the advisor, he was willing to do whatever it took to cement his place in history. With that, he shoved Twilight aside and marched toward his army to ride with them into battle.
While Astros and his army were preparing to move out, the warlord, who had his loyal followers invade the city, was impressed by the creatures brought before him. He had to admit that the advice from his new mysterious friend that appeared, which provided such vital information, was useful. The warlord was also told that this was to draw out the people of Tenochti who would come for him. Knowing that he took this as his opportunity to rid them of their fighters and then invade the city for his taking.
The army of Astros and his people crossed the causeway as they began to head toward the territory of their enemies. Following from a safe hidden distance were the two Jedi, as Twilight was concerned for her ancestor and disobeyed her orders to stay behind. She and Storm were now following the army, knowing that this upcoming battle was critical for her family's history. The advisor finally crossed into the warlord's city-state as he looked for potential ambushes, knowing his enemy wouldn't just let him enter his territory. It didn't take long before they arrived in the heart of his enemy's land, as a scout was standing to greet him near the entrance to the village.
Astros got off and followed the scout alone into the village. The advisor looked around the village and saw thousands upon thousands of soldiers standing by, ready to kill at the moment of their leader's hand. Astros entered the hut and stood before a row of soldiers. At the end was his enemy, a warlord named Tlaloc, a man who considered himself a god amongst the people.
"Tlaloc…" spoke Astros to his rival tribe leader.
"Astros…"
The advisor was shown reaching for a small dagger hidden behind his back before he was struck from behind and fell to his knees. Immediately, he was held by two long spears, and his head was trapped under the X it formed when they crossed. Another guard brought the dagger to their leader, who took the weapon and unsheathed it. The two then began to converse.
"Ha! You fool, Astros! Did you think you could kill me!"
The warlord then tossed the dagger as it slid in front of Astros, who was still being held down by the spears restraining him from moving his neck up from the ground but a few feet. The advisor looked at the weapon before him as he looked at Tlaloc.
"Worm! Only those with true strength claim stake in this land!"
"Strength… you say?" responded the advisor as he eyed his enemy. "Then know this. On this day… I will show strength… and I… strike you down!"
At that moment, Astros grabbed one end of the spear and quickly popped up, pushing the two soldiers off him while holding onto the spear. He spun the spear around before stabbing the tip into the weaponless soldier, pulling out and countering the other guard's stabs before driving the point into him. Astros then looked at Tlaloc, who remained seated on this throne, not impressed by Astros. The advisor growled before he grabbed the spear he held with one hand and thrust it forward. The weapon was coming at the warlord as it was able to stab him when, seconds before making contact, it was swatted down and cut in half. The advisor was confused before the person who stopped his weapon stepped forward. The person was shown to be a girl who looked similar in age to Twilight; Astros was taken aback before the girl smiled and fired some magic from her hands. Astros went crashing out of the hut and rolled onto the ground. He immediately got up and blocked a club strike before he pulled out his club and struck the enemy in his head. The advisor then looked around as his men and the men of Tlaloc were engaged in deadly combat. All around, warriors beat their opponents to death, some slashing and exposing open flesh before they fell to the ground. At this moment, it was either kill or be killed.
Astros looked about, seeing the bloodshed being spilled before his attention was caught. The girl who blasted him out of the hut of the warlord began to slowly approach him with her hands glowing. She made a magic whip appear as Astros didn't know what to make of it. As he raised his wooden circle shield, the girl flicked the whip toward him. He closed his eyes, expecting the worst, when Twilight quickly appeared and wrapped a magic shield around them. The advisor was stunned by the sorcery he saw before looking at Twilight, who held the attack off. The girl then looked at her relative.
"What are you?" asked Astros, as it was clear that Twilight, his future relative, wasn't the only secret she was hiding.
"I'll explain later," said Twilight before turning her attention forward.
"I was wondering when you'd show up," barked the girl, as it was revealed to be none other than Starlight.
"Starlight…"
The two girls stood before each other, staring down with intense eyes. At that moment, the warlord appeared beside the girl, and Starlight smiled.
"I see you're not the only one with family here," smirked Starlight as she cast a side glance toward the warlord beside her.
"Family?... That means…" said Twilight as she put the pieces together.
Starlight didn't wait as she charged forward and tackled Twilight to the ground. Astros then got back into the fight as three fighters tried to strike him down; he countered their swings before striking them down. At that moment, Astros was kicked in the chest and knocked back; he tumbled along the ground as the warlord laughed. Meanwhile, Twilight and Starlight were dueling as they began letting loose magic blasts. Magical circles and runes covered their hands as they moved about fluidly and fired spells. While the two girls fought, their ancestors did the same, but with their fists and weapons. Sounds of wooden clubs being banged against each other echoed as the two growled and had their faces against each other. Eventually, both fights began to echo and mirror the other as Twilight and Astros both did a somersault backward with the tip of their foot, catching their opponent by the chin and making them stumble as they landed on their feet.
"What's this all about, Starlight?" asked Twilight as the girl growled and rubbed her face.
"What else, princess? The extinction of your family!" yelled Starlight before she slammed her hands on the ground.
At that moment, Twilight felt it before the ground began to open, and she jumped out of the way. Some of the warriors fighting each other were caught by Starlight opening the ground as they let out terrified yells before falling into the planet's core, never to be seen again. Twilight looked over the edge as she saw glimpses of her allies before they vanished for good, and it made her feel disappointed that she got them killed. She turned back to look at Starlight as she growled, wanting to make the girl pay for all the innocents she had killed on her vendetta. Twilight rushed forward and began to air step using magical footholds to proceed toward Starlight, who was trying to shoot her down.
Astros and Tlaloc continued their fight, bringing them away from the main fighting and onto rundown temple stairs. The two enemies were locked in combat as the warlord had the upper hand; Astros was minding his footing as he moved out of the way from a swing from his enemy and tumbled down the stairs for a bit before halting. He stood up and turned as part of the club caught him and left a scarred mark under his left eye. Astros fought through the pain before he was caught by the throat and launched over the warlord and onto the top of the small temple as he groaned. Twilight had been pinned down on her stomach as Starlight held her down by her magic; the princess tried to break free but it was useless as Starlight smiled evilly and approached her.
"Now, princess… let's watch your ancestor die!" said the girl, forcefully grabbing Twilight's head to watch Astros be killed before her very eyes. "It's time you felt my pain."
Twilight was forced to watch as Astros groaned from pain before being lifted by his throat by his enemy. Tlaloc looked at the struggling advisor in his grip as he flailed about, sucking the air out of his opponent. The princess wanted to call her ancestor as if it would do anything, but she couldn't. The warlord used his free hand to reach back around to reveal the dagger that Astros had brought with him. Tlaloc spoke to Astros, wanting the advisor to be conscious when he ripped his beating heart and showed it to him.
"Say goodbye, Twilight," said Starlight.
"No!" shouted the girl as the warlord reeled back his arm, ready to thrust it forward to kill her ancestor.
Just then… in the blink of an eye, Starlight did a backflip as Storm was shown trying to come up from behind her. The Jedi went for a swing as the girl sensed it and flipped over the boy. While the boy missed striking the girl, he succeeded as Starlight's magical grip released Twilight. At that same time, Astros, seeing the dagger about to strike his heart, used one of his free hands to reach behind him and pull something out. The dagger was about to touch his chest when he threw the contents of the small bag, and the powder inside exploded. The powdery stuff made contact and exploded onto Tlaloc's eyes as he immediately felt immense pain.
The warlord screamed as it became so unbearable that he released his hold of the advisor and clutched his eyes with both hands. He stumbled back and tried to get the stuff out of his eyes; Astros fell to the ground on his hands and knees, trying to catch his breath. He then noticed the small dagger before him and grabbed it without hesitation. Tlaloc continued to let out a cry of angst as he stumbled about. He reached for a small puddle of water and splashed it on his face. It washed away the powder, allowing him to see. And in that small moment of vision, he saw Astros coming from behind him as he held his dagger and drove it downward.
Starlight jumped back as she stared down both Jedi Knights. Storm and Twilight stood side by side as Starlight growled. At that moment, something caught their eye, as did the rest of the soldiers fighting. Astros was standing on a hill before thrusting his right arm high above. In his hand was a heart—not just any heart, but the beating heart of Tlaloc, which told the whole story.
"NO!" yelled Starlight as she was lost in a world of fury.
Twilight was relieved to see her ancestor was okay before turning to look back at Starlight, who had vanished without them knowing. The men of the now-deceased warlord saw Astros holding the heart of their leader as they immediately surrendered and were rounded up. The advisor walked down the hill, where the surrendered men of his former enemy were gathered up by his army and presented before the man. Astros looked at the men, giving each of them a glaring look.
"What are you going to do with them?" asked Twilight, curious about what her ancestor might do with his captives of war.
The advisor looked at the men who gave up when he killed their leader as if looking into their souls and passing divine judgment. He then called for one of the officers as he spoke to them, and he nodded. He then addressed the rest of his men standing around the row of captured spoils of war.
"Kill them," said Astros confidently.
Twilight gasped when she heard her ancestor say that. Immediately, the captives were being led away on a long train to be disposed of.
"What?" said Twilight as she approached her ancestor, who didn't have any remorse for what he just did. "Why?"
The advisor merely looked at the girl, his relative, as he stared her down. The scar under his eyes was now fully intensified to show the advisor's demeanor while looking at the girl.
"If showing pity would put my allies in danger, then I will not hesitate to kill!" said Astros, knowing that only the strong would survive and that he needed to support his people.
Twilight was left speechless as she couldn't believe what she heard. To think that her own flesh and blood didn't show any mercy to the people they captured… she couldn't believe that's how Astros was, let alone her entire bloodline.
"Sparkle!"
A voice echoed as a magic beam was shot forward at blazing speed. Everybody turned as Twilight instinctively put up a magic shield to protect her from the spell that would've surely done serious damage to her. From afar, Starlight reappeared with her hand seething with power as she growled. Astros ordered his allies to charge toward Starlight to apprehend her. All the while, Starlight and Twilight continued to stare each other down.
"This isn't over, princess! This is only the beginning!" yelled Starlight.
The guards were about to get her when she pulsed out her magic to push them back. Then a portal began to open above her as she began to alleviate as it sucked her upwards. Twilight and the others watched Starlight ascend before disappearing into the portal, never to be seen again. Twilight put her shield down as Astros looked at the girl.
"Who are you, really?" asked Astros as he felt Twilight was withholding some information.
Twilight stared at her ancestor, and based on what had just happened, it was clear that things needed to be said. However, before she could say anything, her body began to glow. Storm also noticed himself glowing, as he had no clue what was happening.
"Twilight!"
Both began to glow instantly, making everyone else cover their eyes to avoid being blinded. When it died down, both Twilight and Storm were gone.
"Sorcery," spoke Astros.
The two Jedi Knights were now in a portal as they bounced about, with images of clocks and sand dials passing them. Both had their clothes returned to normal when they entered the portal before they spotted the other and grabbed their hands.
"What's happening?" asked Storm.
"I don't know," answered Twilight.
To be continued…
Author's Note: And so it's finally happened. Starlight's ultimate plan has come... carrying out her father's dying wish to complete Project Paradoxum has been fulfilled. And based on what we saw it's clear her objective is to not only take care of Twilight's ancestors that have done her wrong, but ultimately dispose of the Sparkle bloodline once and for all. And in that same stance, it seems Twilight's gonna have to do all in her power to keep her bloodline intact. We've finally reached a storyline that I've been dying to do, and it not only involves the time travel story arc of MLP, but seeing and meeting the different ancestors of Twilight's bloodline. However, based on how she saw her ancestor Astros show no mercy to prisoners of war, it seems she might see some parts of her own family heritage that she might not like. Starlight preached that all of Twilight's family relatives weren't all they seem to be... perhaps she may have been right. Only time will tell... literally.
