*Four Years Later*
It was a few weeks before Christmas, Kagome, Sango, Inuyasha, Miroku, Hiro, Sango and Miroku's three-year- old twins - two little girls named Kin'u and Gyokuto - Shippo and Inuyasha's parents were all in the living room, decorating for the Christmas holiday while Christmas music and laughter floated in the air.
Hiro was officially declared cancer free a year and a half ago and he was doing great. He had a huge heart, did great in school, helped out with anything and everything he could and was just an amazing kid.
Kagome and Inuyasha remarried and their love that they shared between one another was like no other and was only getting stronger. Inuyasha had stepped down as the mafia boss and gave that title to one of his most entrusted employees before suggesting that they move to a different, safer city - which everyone wholeheartedly agreed. Inuyasha and his parents' relationship is stronger, though still has some work to do to get back to where it used to be. Kagome was able to open her very own mechanic shop two years ago, which was doing very well, she hired Inuyasha to help her run it as her co-owner and Shippo as a part time mechanic as he went to college to become a spy for the CIA. Kagome spent the first few months teaching Inuyasha and Shippo everything she knew about fixing cars and servicing them. As time went on and they were getting more and more business, she was able to hire more people and a receptionist. She named her shop after her father; she wanted him to be a part of not only her dream but his as well. All in all, everything was running smoothly, and she couldn't be happier.
Sango and Miroku were going strong as well and only getting stronger. Miroku decided to go back to school to finish getting his degree to become a doctor and Sango opened her own business as a self-defense instructor. Sango had given birth to their three-year-old twins then got pregnant again with Inuyasha and Kagome's baby, which was a baby girl they named Moroha who was taking a nap while they decorated. Moroha is one year old and is such a happy little girl, she always had a smile on her face and hardly ever had a meltdown. She had pure white hair that reached just past her shoulder with little black puppy ears on top of her head. She was the perfect addition to their growing family.
Sango was pregnant again with another addition to Inuyasha and Kagome's little family, twins, a girl and a boy that they were planning on naming Yumi and Koji. They were due to be here in January and would be a nice completion to their family. She was then planning on having another baby between her and Miroku before closing up the baby shop for good.
Once hearing that Inuyasha was leaving the mafia, Shippo jumped at the opportunity to leave as well. After all, Inuyasha was the reason that he joined the mafia game anyway. So, it only made sense that he'd leave when Inuyasha did. He moved to the same city as Inuyasha and the others did and was able to afford a house a few houses down from where they moved into. He planned on finishing college and getting his diploma while continuing to work part time at Kagome's shop until he graduated and got his dream job.
While decorating, the monitor that Kagome had clipped to the waistband of her pants started to cry indicating that Moroha woke up from her nap.
"Sounds like Moroha is awake." Kagome chirped before skipping off to the little girl's bedroom with a happy little hum. A few minutes later, Kagome came back with a laughing baby on her hip, she sat Moroha down by the twins so they could play for a bit while she got a snack put together for the kids. The twins had woken up from their nap about twenty minutes prior to Moroha waking up from her nap, so they were all ready for a little snack.
With the twins sitting at the kid table and Moroha sitting in her highchair eating their snacks, Kagome went back to helping the others decorate the last finishing touches on the inside before going outside and began decorating.
Later that night after all the decorating was done, Inuyasha and the others - including the children - were watching a family Christmas movie while eating popcorn and other snacks. Moroha was curled up asleep on Inuyasha's lap while sucking on her thumb and the twins were each sitting on their parents' laps, still awake but barely. Hiro sat beside Kagome while eating snacks as he watched the movie. They always tried to do something all together before going to bed for the night, whether it be watching TV, playing a board game or playing hide and seek or some other kid game with the kids.
Once the movie was over, Inuyasha and Kagome put Moroha to sleep before tucking in Hiro and wishing him a good night while Sango and Miroku tucked the twins in for the night. Once all the kids were asleep, Inuyasha and the others met back in the living room before bidding each other a good night and retiring to bed.
Crawling in bed, Inuyasha pulled Kagome in close to him with a contented sigh as he closed his eyes before burying his nose in the crook of her neck and taking a deep inhale. "I love you, baby girl." He mumbled, sleep apparent in his voice.
"I love you too, Sha, with all my heart." Kagome whispered back as she planted a kiss to his chest before lying her head down where she kissed and closed her eyes. She felt as his growl of approval vibrated against her face which caused a smile to curl her lips. Soon after, both of them were fast asleep.
*Christmas Day*
Hiro and the twins ran into Inuyasha and Kagome's room bright and early to wake them up so they could open their presents. They learned real fast when Hiro had come home to always make sure they were always dressed in their night clothes before they fell asleep. Sango and Miroku had walked into the room after the kids as they rubbed the sleep from their eyes.
"Uncle Yashie! Aunt Gome! Wake up, wake up! Santa came last night! Hurry! We gotta open our presents!" Kin'u yelled, startling the sleeping pair awake.
"Yeah, hurry up Uncle Yashie and Aunt Gome! We wanna open our presents! We have so many presents! Moro has lots of presents too! It's gonna take aaaalllll day to open them all!" Gyokuto exclaimed, both of the girls excited to see what Santa had brought them.
Hiro was excited as well, though, being older he didn't believe in Santa - though he'd never ever ruin that for the little ones. He was also able to hide his excitement better as well.
Inuyasha and Kagome watched as the twins ran around the room while they were laughing and trying to get them out of bed.
"Alright, alright, we're up." Inuyasha chuckled as he stood up before swooping up Kin'u as she tried to run past him and swung her up over his head as he spun her around.
"My turn, my turn, Uncle Yashie!" Gyokuto laughed as she ran up to Inuyasha with her arms up over her head in a 'pick me up' gesture.
Inuyasha laughed as he placed Kin'u back on her feet before picking Gyokuto up and did the same thing to her that he did with Kin'u, Gyokuto's joyful squeals filled the room before being placed back on her feet. "Okay, go to the living room and we'll be in there in a minute." Inuyasha pinky promised with Gyokuto before watching the kids and Sango and Miroku leave the room.
Kagome stretched with her arms over her head and her back arched while a tongue curling yawn escaped her mouth before she let out a sigh as her body relaxed and her arms fell back on her lap. "Morning." She chirped with a smile as she looked at Inuyasha.
"Morning baby girl." Inuyasha smiled back before walking to the bathroom just to relieve himself and walked back out so Kagome could do the same thing. Once both had emptied their bladders, they walked into Moroha's room to get the little girl up, change her diaper before putting her Christmas pajamas back on and carried her to the living room so everyone could open their presents.
"Yay! They're here!" Gyokuto exclaimed with an excited giggle.
"Can we start opening presents now, mommy?" Kin'u asked with a wide smile.
Sango smiled as she stood up to start handing out presents to the kids. "Sure, go crazy."
"Yay!" The twins shouted at the same time as they began tearing into their gifts.
The twins got a bunch of toys, nail polish sets, hair accessories, clothes, play dress up clothes, play jewelry sets, tea party sets, two bicycles with training wheels and a battery-operated ride on car for each of them.
Moroha got a bunch of toys as well, clothes, play dress up clothes, stuffed animals, a tricycle, a big girl bed with a couple of blanket sets for it, hair accessories and an outside water/sand station table.
Hiro got a new game system, a lot of games for the game system, clothes, a drawing tablet and his very first cell phone.
Shippo got the same game system as Hiro with most of the same games as him so they could play together, clothes and a big bag of his favorite candy.
Sango got a little demon two tail kitten from Miroku. The kitten was a light cream and black color with red eyes that Sango absolutely gushed over and fell in love with the little kitty. She also got really nice workout clothes for work at her self-defense training business from Kagome and Inuyasha.
Miroku got a really nice briefcase with his name embroidered on it for when he became a doctor from Sango and nice doctor kit from Kagome and Inuyasha.
Inuyasha got a gold locket necklace with a picture of Kagome and Moroha inside with 'love you forever and for always' embroidered on the back from Kagome and few books that Inuyasha had been wanting to read, he had picked up reading recently to fill his now mostly clear schedule.
Kagome got a nice jewelry set from Inuyasha and two pairs of furry Uggs, one pair that were white, gray and black and the other pair were cotton candy pink and blue colored from Sango and Miroku.
Everyone loved their gifts and exchanged thank you's as they gathered up their things before standing up and taking their things to their rooms then coming back into the living room. Inuyasha came back out with a large envelope in his hands and walked towards Hiro.
"Here, I have one more gift for you." Inuyasha said as he handed Hiro the envelope.
Hiro took the envelope and opened it before reading the contents of the envelope then looked up at Inuyasha with wide eyes. "Wait, is this what I think it is?"
"What do you think it is?" Inuyasha asked with a half-smile.
"Are these adoption papers? As in you want to adopt me?" Hiro asked as he held up the papers. He already saw Inuyasha as a father from almost the very beginning and even started calling him dad about a year after he got out of the hospital. They've been on multiple fishing trips, camping trips, amusement parks, arcades and many other places with just the two of them. He felt very close to Inuyasha and was ready to officially be his son.
"Yes, that's what they are and yes, I want to adopt you. Only if you want it as well, though." Inuyasha replied with a nod.
Hiro surprised Inuyasha when he threw his arms around his neck in a tight hug. "Yes, I want that. That would make me so happy."
Inuyasha released a relieved breath of air before hugging Hiro back tightly without saying anything.
"Alright," Sango cleared her throat while wiping the tears from her eyes, "let's take your new things to your room." she said as she and Miroku stepped up to help the twins take their things to their room and spend some time to set up what needed to be set up.
Inuyasha pulled away from Hiro so he could help Kagome put Moroha's new things away while Hiro took his new stuff to his room to set up his new gaming system with Shippo's help. He also set up his phone and drawing tablet with the help of Kagome once she was done with Moroha's room.
Once everything was put up or set up, everyone went back into the living room and cleaned up the trash while the kids played with their new things. When everything was once again clean, Sango and Kagome walked into the kitchen to whip up a quick breakfast.
Later that night, when all the kids were asleep and everyone else retired to their own room for the night.
Inuyasha and Kagome were lying in bed, Inuyasha lying on his back while Kagome was lying on her stomach with her top half on his chest. His hand in her shirt with his claws running up her back, enjoying the occasional shivers he caused to her body.
Kagome let out a small sigh as she snuggled closer to Inuyasha's chest and gripped his shirt in her hand.
"What's on your mind, baby girl." Inuyasha rumbled as he took his hand out of her shirt before running his claws through her hair.
"I just can't believe that I've found you, that I've found myself with people that actually love and care about me. I'm just scared that this is a dream that I'll wake up any time now and I'll be all alone again." Kagome whispered before taking in a shaky breath. No matter how much time has passed, she couldn't help the thoughts of her life before Inuyasha, the loss of their baby and the night that they finally were free from Naraku and her mother from slipping in her mind from time to time. However, they were popping in her mind less and less, which she was grateful for, but thinking about these things didn't seem to be getting any easier - especially the loss of their baby.
Inuyasha sat them both up so he could look her in the eyes as he spoke. He placed his hands on her face before rubbing her cheekbones with the pads of his thumbs. "You are never, and I mean never, going to be alone ever again. Do you hear me, baby girl? This is not a dream that you'll wake up from, this is real, I am real, we are real, and nothing will ever take you away from me. Do you understand me, baby girl?" He's had to have this same talk with her several times over the years. He was never and would never be irritated with her for having these thoughts, she's been through more shit than he could count on one finger. So, just like he's done all the other times, he'd patiently talk her out of her head and get her smiling that beautiful smile that he loved so much.
"I'm sorry." Kagome mumbled with a sniffle as tears gathered in her eyes. "I don't know why I can't keep these thoughts out of my mind. It seems the harder that I try to keep them away, the more they slip through the cracks, especially when it comes close to the day that specific event happened. I'm happy, please don't think I'm not, but when those thoughts go through my mind, they make me sad. But then I think of you, I think of Sango, of Miroku, of Shippo, of Hiro, of Moroha, of Kin'u and Gyokuto and the bad thoughts go away. I am so grateful for you and everybody else for bringing life back to me."
"I will do whatever I can for the rest of my life to always bring life into you and make you happy. I know the thoughts that slip into your mind are hard to ignore and make you want to fall but always remember that I will be there to pick you up when you can't pick yourself up." Inuyasha replied before bringing her in for a slow, loving kiss before pulling away and looking back into her eyes. "I love you with my entire soul and that will never change, no matter what - okay?" He whispered as he swiped at her tears as they fell with his thumbs.
"I love you, Sha." Kagome whispered with a watery smile as she brought her hands up to grip his wrists. "Thank you so much for being there for me."
"There's that smile I love. I always want to see you with that smile, it kills me when you're sad." Inuyasha confessed as he placed a kiss on her forehead. "I will always be here for you." He promised as he gently brushed the last of Kagome's tears away. "Now, let's get to sleep. I'm sure the twins are going to want everyone up bright and early to play with them and I promised Hiro that I'd play a few games with him tomorrow."
"Okay." Kagome smiled as she allowed Inuyasha to drag her back on his chest before closing her eyes. She was very happy with where her life was now and didn't want anything to change this feeling of love and contentment. She was excited to spend the rest of her life here with the people that loved her the most and couldn't wait to see where their lives would take them.
The End.
