"Deku, perfect timing! I wanted to tell you something. The Quirkless Chamber works!"
Izuku stared at the Police Chief. "Quirkless Chamber?"
He started down the hall, Izuku following with his notebook. "The Quirkless Chamber is a new technology we're working on. It uses a new, special-made technology that blocks Quirks entirely. Since she was proving to be a bit of trouble the last few days, we decided to put her in there. So while she gets used to that, we're going to have you talk to her puppet today. See if he can tell you anything."
"Well, the thing is, I got a lot of information from Dimentio yesterday and-"
"Dimentio? You mean the insane jester that tried to kill you and your class? The one who forced his own puppet to go through the trial I had specifically chose for him, just so he won't have to redeem himself? That Dimentio? Do you forget when he trapped us all in that twisted place? What about when he tried to stab you with a knife? He is not a reliable source for information, Deku." He snatched the notebook from him and flipped through it.
"That's the thing, he knows her. She's his half sister, and he knows how her Quirk works! He can help! And he's been working on becoming a hero for a while now."
"But how do you know he's not just tricking you again, hm? I'm sorry, Deku, but rules are rules. You can't accept help from villains or ex-villains. You just can't trust them."
He tore out the pages about Grape, and handed the notebook back to Izuku. He crumpled the papers and handed them to a guard, who set them on fire in another room. He stopped in front of a room.
Grape was inside, leaning against the white walls, and she looked like she was asleep. Izuku quickly scribbled down that she needs sleep before the Police Chief continued moving. Izuku went up to the door, which was a green barrier that hurt to touch.
"Grape? Are you alright?"
She opened her eyes and looked at him over her shoulder. "Izuku, what are you doing here? Don't you have some 'hero work' to do instead of pestering me?"
"I talked with Dimentio last night."
"Dimentio?"
"Don't you know him?"
She took her chance, and decided to play along. "No, I've never heard of that name. Who names their child 'Dimentio' anyways? It makes him sound insane."
"You've...never heard of Dimentio?"
She shook her head, her purple curls bobbing. "No."
"But he said you were his sister."
She scoffed, the laughed. "He really is crazy! A man I've never heard of, claiming to know me and that we're related! It makes me laugh! Ahahaha!" Her laughter slowly died and she exhaled sharply.
"Your laugh is fake. I can tell. Dimentio does the same thing. Try and deny it, but I know for a fact that you and Dimentio are-"
"Deku, bad news. We lost the puppet somehow. Whatever she did, it was here yesterday."
She chuckled. "You fools...He cannot stay if I cannot keep him here. He was only here last night because I could use my Darkle. But without Darkle...he had to go home."
Izuku noticed something was off about her. "Grape, are you feeling okay? Your hair looks a bit different."
She brushed her hair with her hand. "I'm fine. I feel a bit dizzy, but I'm certain I'm fine." She rose from the floor and came to the door. "But if you expect me to share anything about me, you can give up. I will tell you nothing."
She was a bit unstable when they took her to the room to be alone with Izuku, and she sighed a bit when she sat down. She rested her face in one of her hands, letting the other one dangle under the table.
Izuku sat down as well. "Are you sure you're okay? Maybe you need some rest? Water? Can you...even drink water?"
"I wouldn't mind that. Could you get me a cup of water please? Perhaps it was my magic being blocked for so long...? I've never felt like this before..."
"Dimentio told me about your Quirk."
"He knows about Darkle? He is a bit creepy, isn't he? Knowing things about people he doesn't even know..." Her hand began to shake a bit.
"Grape? Are you sure you're okay? You can tell me if something's wrong, I promise I won't be mad...or anything." Izuku held up a sheet of paper to the one-way window, which said "give her some water please." "There's water coming now. Is there something you need to talk about?"
She coughed gently, and a bit of black liquid dripped from the bottom of her mask. She didn't seem to notice, but Izuku was getting a little concerned for her. Last time he'd seen something like that was when Dimentio was finally cleansed from the Chaos Heart's corruption, and that was a bad day for Izuku's shoes.
The black took forever to clean out until it wasn't visible anymore.
"Grape? Have you ever heard of a Chaos Heart before?"
"Chaos Heart? I've heard of an entity with that name, but not in a title like that. Why...?"
A Police Officer came in and handed Izuku a cup of water, and a jug of water. He left, and Izuku passed Grape the cup.
"Here you go."
Grape took her head off her hand, and more black dripped from her mask. Her eyes were now black, with purple iris, and the shape of her mask was just a bit more pointed at the bottom. She shakily grabbed the water and held it to the bottom of her mask.
Izuku watched, wondering how she would be able to drink it, as she lacked a mouth and organs.
She tipped her head back, the water vanishing behind her mask. However, when she tilted her head back, the black liquid instead flowed from the top of it. She handed the cup back to him.
"That didn't help...I still feel like fainting..."
Izuku looked a bit horrified when it started coming from the bottom of her eyes, like tears. She closed her eyes and rested her face in her hand again. It was still coming from her eyes, but now staining her glove rather than hitting the table.
"Izuku, what do you do when you feel dizzy...?"
"Usually water helps...Do you want some more? You did just kind of...drink it all." He held up the jug of water.
Her face slipped from her hand and hit the table, hard, and black spilled from her mask.
"Aah! Grape!"
Panicking, he lifted her head by the top of her mask. More black came from her mask, nearly covering the table. He looked with a scared expression to the window, the Police Chief coming in a few seconds after.
"Deku, what happened? Is she alright?"
"I-I don't know! Let me call Dimentio really quick-"
"Deku, what did I say about him?"
"I know what you said, but she could be dying or something, and he's the only one who really knows anything about her!"
He looked like he wanted to fight it, but let Izuku make the call as he and some other officers tried to take Grape back to her cell. As the phone rang, Izuku watched them struggle to lift her from the table, then give her to the strongest-looking officer. Dimentio answered after a minute, still looking tired but less worn out than before.
"Hello. I wasn't expecting to talk so soon. Why do you look so scared? What happened? Did she hurt you? If she did anything to you then-"
"I'm fine, it's her I'm worried about."
He turned the camera around to show Dimentio Grape being dragged away from the guards, black pouring from all sides of her mask.
"I'm worried because she mentioned knowing the Chaos Heart Entity and last time this happened was with you when you threw up on my shoes-which took a long time to clean by the way-when you rejected the Chaos Heart fully and-and-"
"Izuku, calm down. Fear will only make it worse. Am I allowed to talk to her?"
"I...don't think so. I meant to bring Uraraka today, but she was busy so I had to go alone again. But I don't know if they would let her talk to Grape or not. Also, her puppet vanished last night because she couldn't use her Quirk because of a new cell they're working on that blocks Quirks."
"If she's made entirely from magic...And Quirks are like magic...How long has she been in there?"
"About a day?"
"Oh no...That could be the reason. She could be badly injured because of her magic being blocked, like a dam to a river. Sh*t Dimentio, now is not the time for that. Your sister is dying, and you're here speaking in similes! Remember what I said yesterday about magic affecting our lives and health? When I said that removing our magic can hurt us?"
"Kind of hard to forget, it happened last night."
Dimentio shook the camera a bit when he started panicking. "That cell is going to kill her! Tell them that she needs to be moved to a different one!"
"But they can't! She tried to escape twice already. She'll just take advantage of it and try again."
"Let me talk to the chief."
"It's too late, Dimentio, they took her back to the cell already." Izuku showed Dimentio the officers walking back to post.
The Chief came to Izuku. "That took a bit, but we got her back in isolation. Oh, Dimentio. The Pro Villain. How have you been? Spreading lies to Deku now, are you?"
"Lies? Look, I know we got off on the wrong foot before, but you should let me talk with her, please. She'll listen to me, I know it. But you need to get her out of that cell. She'll die."
"She won't die, Dimentio. I thought you were trying to fix your sanity."
Dimentio got silent for a minute, then opened a portal in front of the camera. Izuku nearly dropped his phone when Dimentio had decided to portal himself there through Izuku's phone screen.
He pointed at the chief. "Listen here, I know I used to be bad, and I dropped out of UA before I could get a degree in heroism, but if there is one thing I will not do, is lie about my sister. She is the only family I have left, and I will not waste that relationship on petty lies and tomfoolery."
"Tomfoolery?" Izuku mumbled. "Nobody uses that anymore..."
"And how am I supposed to believe that?" The Police Chief crossed his arms.
Dimentio growled, and his pupils turned to slits. "You listen here. I understand why you don't trust me, but you need to believe me this one time."
"I can't imagine what this looks like from the other side," Izuku thought. "Dimentio hanging halfway through a phone screen that's a lot smaller than he is..."
Izuku zoned the conversation back in when he looked up and saw the Police Chief shoving Dimentio back through the phone by the face. Dimentio fell through, and there was an audible crash on the other side. The Police Chief hung up on him before Izuku got to ask if he was okay.
"Don't trust him. Keep her in the Quirkless Chamber. We'll see how she's doing later today."
"Yessir!" An officer bowed and headed down the hall.
Izuku thought of a plan. A dangerous, dumb one, but it was a plan.
And he needed Ochaco and Tsu's help to do it.
