Total Drama Random Island
Chapter 18: That's Off the Chain
Yassine789: Thank you very much, I would have liked to write this chapter too because I think it's really good.
Duncan for ever: I admit I've been away for quite a while, but I really hope I can finish the Random saga.
Luckyhill2. Thanks, I'm recovering slowly to be back.
**Last time on Total Drama Island...** The contestants had to play hide and seek, either fleeing from Chef Hatchet or helping him find the others to gain immunity. Some had odd hiding spots, while others were almost invisible. The girls formed the girls' alliance, though it's not that big as they're only three. Meanwhile, Duncan's alliance convinced Shawn to vote with them against Brick. Scott managed to persuade DJ to join his alliance. In the end, Brick was eliminated but left without giving any clues to the Devil. Who will be eliminated? Who will get hurt? Find out in the new episode of **TOTAL DRAMA... ISLAND!**
After the theme song, we find the campers on the beach, some playing, and others simply sitting on the Dock of Shame.
"Has anyone seen Chris?" Leshawna asked.
"He's late, which is unlike him," said Sammy.
"That's good news; we won't have to deal with one of his crazy challenges," Idris remarked.
"Speak for yourself, I want to win, and if there's no challenge, there's no money," Scott declared.
"I never said that," Idris replied.
While the campers were hanging out, Dave's screams could be heard in the confessional.
"Looks like Dave's having a hard time dealing with Sky's departure," Leshawna observed.
"Yeah, he's sensitive," said Duncan.
Confessional: Dave
"Why, Sky? Why did you leave? We were so good together. I gave you all my love. WHY? WHY?"
End Confessional
"Come on, Idris, we should go help him," said Duncan.
"Help him? Since when does Duncan the bad boy help others?" Gwen questioned.
"It's strategic, that's all," Duncan explained.
"Aw, the poor little bad boy has a soft heart," Scott mocked.
"Say that again, farm boy?" Duncan challenged.
"I said you're sensitive," Scott retorted.
"You looking for a fight?" Duncan charged towards Scott.
The two got closer and closer, standing side by side.
"Come on, little wimp, I'll bust your face," Scott threatened.
"When I kill you, I'll feed your corpse to the sharks," Duncan countered.
The two fought until Idris and DJ intervened to hold them back.
"Duncan, calm down; he's not worth it," said Idris.
"Scott, stop the violence; it's wrong and stupid," DJ added.
They stopped.
"Next time you come at me, I'll kill you, and this time no one will stop us," Duncan warned.
"Stop, Duncan, we need to go see Dave," Idris urged.
They both left.
"Wow, what a bad boy," Gwen commented.
"Gwen wouldn't know how to fall for the bad boy," Leshawna teased.
"Maybe," Sammy added.
"WHAT! No, that's not my style at all," Gwen insisted.
"Relax, I'm joking," Leshawna laughed.
Dave came out of the confessional with a few more tears on his cheeks.
"Dave! Don't worry, we're here for you," Idris comforted.
"You know, Dave, you shouldn't cry over Sky; she should cry for missing out on a chance to get rich," Duncan said.
"He's right, she's not worth it. But you need to stop crying, regain confidence, and try to win," Idris encouraged.
"Besides, our alliance is strong, and if we keep it up, we'll probably make it to the semi-finals," Duncan added.
"You guys... you're probably right. I'll fight to win. No more whiny Dave, now I'm... Dave the champion," Dave declared.
"That's my buddy," Idris cheered.
Confessional: Idris
"I'm pretty surprised Dave bounced back so quickly. We just said a few words, and now he's back to the old Dave. He must have an alternate dimension or have gone crazy."
End Confessional
Just then, Chris's voice came through the megaphone.
"Hello dear contestants. Your next challenge awaits in the craft room," Chris announced.
The contestants gathered in the craft room.
"Welcome to the craft room, dear contestants," Chris greeted.
"This looks more like a junkyard," Duncan observed.
"Yeah, it's more like a closet where we store all the mechanical parts," Chris said, opening the door.
The boys were excited to see a motorcycle.
"The cool thing is, it fits into our next challenge. Build your own vehicle," Chris instructed.
"We're building motorcycles?" Idris asked.
"Yes, that's the goal of this challenge," Chris confirmed.
"I'm finally going to build my own zombie bike," Shawn enthused.
"To build your vehicle, you'll find all the parts in this hangar," Chris explained.
"Bikes? What a disappointment!" Idris complained.
"You'll find everything in the hangar. The best bike wins, and to prove I'm nice, I'll give you a manual to help," Chris said.
"Ugh. That's disgusting, there's mold on it," Sammy noted.
Confessional: Duncan
"Finally, a challenge I'll enjoy. My brothers and I used to build these. I admit, we mostly stole them from the neighbors and smashed them against the school wall, but that's beside the point."
End Confessional
"Cool, we can finally have the bike of my dreams," Duncan said.
"Me too, every time I had a bike, Amy would steal it," Sammy shared.
"That means you never actually rode a bike," Idris noted.
"No, just for a minute," Sammy replied.
"That's so sad," DJ said.
"Yeah, poor little girl," Scott lied.
"How long have these spare parts been here?" Dave asked.
"Since the beginning of the show," Chris answered.
"That's gross, all this grease," Dave complained.
"Dude, suck it up, you're not a loser anymore; think about the money," Duncan encouraged.
"Yeah man, you're a champion now," Idris added.
"Okay... I'll do it," Dave resolved.
"We need to upgrade our bikes if we want to get rid of Scott," Duncan suggested.
"Okay, Duncan," Dave and Idris agreed.
Scott overheard the conversation.
Confessional: Scott
"Duncan thinks he's smarter than me, but I haven't played my last card yet. DJ will build my bike; he's naive, easy to manipulate."
End Confessional
"DJ, can you come help me, please?" Scott asked.
"Yeah, sure, what's up?" DJ replied.
"I need you to keep watch while I dismantle Chef's bike," Scott said.
"But that's stealing, and stealing is wrong," DJ protested.
"No, it's not stealing; it's borrowing," Scott assured.
"Okay, I'll keep watch," DJ agreed hesitantly.
Scott entered the bike room, and as he dismantled the bike, DJ kept a lookout but was visibly stressed.
"You okay, DJ?" Gwen asked.
"Yeah, everything's fine; I'm definitely not keeping watch," DJ stammered.
"Uh... Okay, I'll leave then," Gwen said.
"I'm done," Scott announced.
"Great, let's get out of here quickly," DJ urged.
The campers worked hard on building their bikes, except for one who was struggling.
"Uh... Gwen, where do I put this thing?" Leshawna asked, pointing to a pedal.
"That's a pedal. Haven't you ever ridden a bike?" Gwen replied.
"Of course, I've ridden a bike. I just never built one before, and besides, there are way too many parts," Leshawna explained.
"You better read the manual because otherwise, the others will get way ahead of you," Gwen advised.
"Okay, but where's the manual?" Leshawna asked.
"Right here," Scott said, eating the mold off the manual.
"Ugh, how can you eat that?" Leshawna exclaimed.
"Mold tastes better than you think; on the farm, I eat it all the time," Scott replied.
"Okay... can you give it to me, please?" Leshawna asked.
"Sure, take it," Scott said, tossing it to her.
"But it's covered in slobber," Leshawna complained.
Confessional: Leshawna
"I never realized how crazy Scott is. But he doesn't seem very mean or smart; I don't think he's a threat."
End Confessional
"DJ, can you help me?" Scott asked.
"What's up, Scott?" DJ responded.
"I hurt myself dismantling Chef's bike. Can you build my bike?" Scott requested.
"I want to, but I need to finish my bike too," DJ said.
"But I thought you and I were friends," Scott replied.
"But I am your friend," DJ insisted.
"I thought real friends helped each other," Scott said.
"But Scott, I..." DJ began.
"I'm sad now, DJ," Scott said.
"I don't want my friends to be sad. I'll build your bike," DJ agreed.
"That's right, thanks buddy," Scott grinned.
Confessional: Scott
"That was too easy."
Confessional: DJ
"I know I told Scott I'd build his bike, but should I tell him I don't know how to build one?"
End Confessional
While DJ worked on the bikes, he overheard the other boys talking nearby.
"Hey, do you remember your first bike experience?" Idris asked.
"Yeah. I got hurt falling and broke my collarbone. You should have seen it; it was sticking out of my shoulder. It was sick," Duncan recalled.
When DJ heard this, his face fell.
"I flew over the handlebars. I was trying to get away from zombies," Shawn said.
"That's nothing; your little injury. I completely dislocated my arm. It took three doctors to hold me down and put it back in place," Idris boasted.
DJ broke out in a sweat of fear and put on a knight's helmet.
"You're really crazy. My first bike experience went really well, and I never got hurt," Dave said.
"Wow, you missed out on some good memories," Duncan said.
"CANDIDATES, IT'S TIME TO JUDGE YOUR CREATION. JOIN THE BUILDING CENTER IN TWO MINUTES," announced Chris through the megaphone.
After the announcement, the campers gathered.
"Campers, we gave you parts; let's see what you've made," Chris said.
The first bike to be judged was Scott's, built with an engine.
"Excellent Scott, the aerodynamics are perfect," said Scott.
"It only weighs 400 grams," Scott added.
"Like your muscles," Duncan said, mocking Scott.
Scott ignored him.
The next bike to be judged was Duncan's.
His bike had a skull skeleton and other features that made it unique.
"It's magnificent; I love the Mad Max look," said Chris.
"I know I did a good job," said Duncan.
The next bike to be judged was DJ's.
His bike had everything to prevent DJ from falling and injuring himself, and it had full-body protection.
"Not very practical on a speedway, plus it's not very good," said Chris.
DJ lowered his head in shame and closed his helmet.
"I don't think that'll be necessary," Chris said.
The next bike to be judged was Gwen's.
Her bike had bat wings.
"It's special but practical; it's a nice job," said Chris.
The next bike was Sammy's.
Her bike had a pink horse bell.
"It's a bell; you can try it," said Sammy.
"DING! DING!"
Chris was indifferent to it.
"At least look happy," said Sammy.
"Let's move on to the next candidate," said Chris.
The next bike to be judged was Leshawna's.
Her bike was a normal bike, nothing special.
"It's not a very original bike," said Chris.
"I've never built a bike before," said Leshawna.
"For a first time, it's not bad," said Chris.
The next bike to be analyzed was Idris's.
His bike was orange and blue and had a headband with a spiral.
"I love the colors and the headband," said Chris.
"Thank you, it's a reference to Naruto; I was inspired by his outfit," said Idris.
"Naruto? What's that?" Chris asked.
"You don't know Naruto? It's one of the most famous manga in the world," Idris replied.
"Well... no," said Chris.
All the other candidates looked at him.
"None of you know Naruto?" said Idris.
"No, I think it must just be a show from your country," said Chris.
Confessional: Idris
How can you not know Naruto, just one of the most famous manga of all time? Even if you don't care about manga, you must have heard of it.
End confessional
The next bike to be judged was Shawn's.
His bike had spikes everywhere and a small lance in it.
"Nice bike, Shawn," said Chris.
"Thanks, it's the first anti-zombie bike," said Shawn.
"Anti-zombie?" said Chris.
"Yeah, to fight zombies on the island," said Shawn.
"Alright, Shawn, let's move on to the next bike," said Chris.
The next bike to be judged was Dave's.
His bike looked strangely like Sky's.
"What are you trying to do, Dave?" asked Chris.
"A bike I call Skydominator," Dave replied.
Idris and Duncan exchanged glances.
"Why did you call it that?" asked Chris.
"To show Sky that I'm not a loser anymore and she won't use me again," said Dave.
"I don't think he understood what we were trying to say," said Idris.
"Yeah, the message didn't get through," said Duncan.
"Well, campers, we're moving on to the bike race, but you won't be using your bikes," said Chris.
"What!" said the campers.
"You'll be using other people's bikes to qualify. If your bike doesn't cross the finish line, you'll be eliminated and won't compete for immunity," said Chris.
"And what if we purposely don't cross the finish line?" asked Scott.
"Whoever is on the bike will be eliminated," said Chris.
"And how will we know who will get which bike?" asked Sammy.
"By drawing lots," said Chris. "Meet me at the beach," said Chris.
The contestants are at the starting line and drew lots.
Idris had Leshawna's bike.
Dave had Gwen's bike.
DJ had Scott's bike.
Sammy had Duncan's bike.
Leshawna had DJ's bike.
Scott had Sammy's bike.
Gwen had Idris's bike.
Duncan had Shawn's bike.
Shawn had Dave's bike.
"Are you ready?" asked Chris.
The campers looked at the finish line with determination.
"3... 2... 1 GO!" said Chris, signaling the start.
The race began, and Duncan had a slight lead over the others.
"Hey? Where are the pedals?" asked Sammy, who couldn't move on Duncan's bike.
The four wheels on DJ's bike prevented Leshawna from moving forward.
Duncan continued to stay ahead of the others.
"This is too easy," Duncan said.
Until DJ caught up.
"Yeah, I can ride a bike! Mom, look at your son riding a bike," DJ said proudly.
Gwen was using Idris's bike, even though it was a bit slow.
"My bike works? That's amazing!" said Idris.
"Why are you surprised?" asked Gwen.
"Because I forgot to put in screws," Idris replied.
"Wait, what!" said Gwen.
Idris's bike collapsed, and Gwen fell, along with the debris from the accident, also taking down Idris.
"How could you forget to put in screws?" asked Gwen.
"I was too focused on the design of my bike," said Idris.
Leshawna pushed DJ's bike but saw nothing as she passed Idris and Gwen.
Sammy was still stuck at the start.
She pressed the skull and crossbones on the bike and sped off.
So fast that she arrived first.
Dave and Scott struggled to surpass each other.
But they were so focused on their fight that they didn't see Idris, Gwen, and Leshawna and fell.
"What are you doing here?" asked Scott.
"We had an accident," said Idris.
"But why didn't you leave?" asked Dave.
"We're in too much pain to walk," said Gwen.
Duncan, DJ, and Shawn crossed the finish line.
"It's over; we've lost five contestants: Idris, Gwen, Leshawna, Scott, and Dave. So the immunity round will be a race between four," said Chris.
"Shawn's anti-zombie bike, Scott's fast bike, Dave's Skydominator, and Duncan's infernal machine," said Chris.
"How do you stop the bike?" asked Sammy.
"Press the skull," said Duncan.
"Okay," said Sammy, pressing it.
The bike stopped.
"Now, let's move on to the next round," said Chris.
"Thanks, DJ, for qualifying me," said Scott.
"You're welcome, thanks to your bike I could ride," said DJ.
The qualified candidates stood at the starting line, the others watching them.
"Nice little bike," Duncan said, mocking Scott.
"My little bike is better than that nonsense you made," said Scott.
"Oh no, they're going to fight again," said Shawn.
"Calm down, guys; the race is about to start," said Dave.
Duncan grabbed Dave's ear and said.
"There's no way Scott wins. You better focus, or I'll kill you," said Duncan.
Confessional: Dave
Wow, Duncan scares me. Is this what he's like when he's angry? I understand better why he was in juvie.
End confessional
"Alright, I'll do it," said Dave.
"Campers, welcome to the challenge... bike... bike... cross... cross," said Chris with an echo effect in the background.
"With your own bikes, you will cross hidden obstacles," explained Chris.
"What are the obstacles?" asked Dave.
"Avoid landmines, don't slip on the oil slick, and finally avoid the Piranhas," said Chris.
"Uh... okay," said Dave, not very serious.
"One last thing. The first person to reach the finish line will get immunity, and the last person to reach the finish line will be eliminated and sent home. No vote tonight; the loser will go straight to the Dock of Shame," said Chris.
Confessional: Scott
This changes all my plans. I just need to block Duncan so he doesn't cross the finish line and get him eliminated.
End confession
"Are you ready, contestants?" said Chris.
"3... 2... 1 GO!" said Chris.
The contestants started and had to cross the minefield. The first to pass was Dave, who exploded; the first bike was damaged but could still ride.
"I... I never want to do that again," said Dave.
Duncan was speeding through as the mines exploded behind him; Scott and Shawn took the opportunity to pass.
Dave was in second place as his bike was damaged.
Duncan tried to cross the oil slick but it was too slippery, and he was thrown overboard, losing time.
Scott managed to pass thanks to Duncan's trajectory.
As for Shawn, he just passed Scott.
"How did you do that?" asked Scott.
"It's just talent," Shawn replied before falling into the piranha lake.
"Bahahaha, another loser," said Scott.
Thanks to Chef Hatchet's motorcycle part, Scott was able to jump over the piranha lake and win.
"Scott won, but the race isn't over; we still need to see who comes last," said Chris.
Duncan, who finally survived the oil slick, crossed the piranha lake and crossed the finish line.
"I came in first," said Scott.
"Maybe, but I'm still here," said Duncan.
"You are, but your little pet isn't," said Scott.
Dave slowly made his way to the finish line, but Shawn was out of the lake on the wrong side; he was next to Dave.
They looked at each other; the first to cross the lake would win.
Shawn started with a big push and crossed the lake, but Dave wouldn't let him win, so he followed and crossed the lake too.
There was only a straight line left, and it was time to give it their all.
"Ladies and gentlemen, there's a lot of suspense as to who will win and who will stay with us for the rest of the race," said Chris.
Shawn and Dave were side by side, really close, ready to cross the finish line.
Dave pedaled hard to catch up to Shawn; they elbowed each other and crossed the finish line.
"Who won?" said Idris.
"We don't know; they were really close together," said Leshawna.
"PHOTO, PHOTO CHEF HATCHET, SHOW US THE PHOTO," said Chris.
Chef Hatchet showed the photo to Chris.
"Come on, tell us who won," said Shawn.
"Hurry up, Chris," said Dave.
"The winner of the race is...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
"Dave," said Chris.
"Sorry, Shawn, you're the loser," said Chris.
"It's not fair; I was so close," said Shawn.
"Good job, Shawn," said Dave.
"Good job, Dave," said Shawn.
"Goodbye, everyone, watch out for zombies," said Shawn.
"That was really close," said Sammy.
"Yeah, it's really a shame for you," said Leshawna.
"Thank you, you're not a zombie, I won't have to worry about you," said Shawn.
"Shawn, the Loser's Boat awaits you," said Chris.
He got on the boat and left.
"He's nice but really weird," said Dave.
"Yeah, his zombie story doesn't make any sense," said Duncan.
"At least he can tell Jasmine he finds her beautiful," said Sammy.
"Yeah, I'm going to miss him a little; his zombie story was pretty funny," said Leshawna.
"It's getting late," said Idris.
"Yeah, I think I'm going to sleep," said Duncan.
"Well, good night, everyone," said Gwen.
End of Chapter 18
Author's Note: That's all for Chapter 18; I hope you enjoyed it. I'm recovering well, and I can't wait to get the cast off. Regarding Shawn's elimination, I know I won't make many friends, but honestly, I didn't know what else to do with him, so I decided it was time for him to go.
My opinion on Shawn: I like Shawn; he made me laugh quite a bit in Pakitew, and his friendship with Dave is great, and his relationship with Jasmine is really good. He's a very good character.
