Episode 3: Super Crazy Happy Fun Time Japan
"Last time, on Total Drama World Tour!" Chris began as he walked into a shot of the first-class seats from the left. "Egypt! Land of pyramids! Land of hot! Land of sweaty! Our contestants had loads of fun, on the run, in the sun!"
"And! They still managed to find time to meet some mummies, chat up a camel, whack some crocs, and weave a boat."
"Showing style on the Nile, Team Super pulled out a win. Ripper found a way to lose for his team, and would've been gone if not for the surprise twist."
"And as the sun began to set on the sandy… sands of Egypt, we found out what happens when someone refuses to get along and sing the song."
"This week," Chris said as the recap footage ended and the scene flashed to him in the cockpit in his antique pilot's uniform, "who's gonna sing? Who's gonna dance? Who's gonna sell out their friends for a chance at One! Million! Dol-lars! Welcome, to Total!" A blaring note played as the camera zoomed out to a close-up of the cockpit from outside. "Drama!" Another note accompanied another movement back as the rest of the plane was included in the shot. "Woooorrrrlllddd~ Tooouuurrrr~!" As the host sang the title, a V-shaped flock of birds flew past beneath the jet.
(Theme Song)
The episode opened on a shot of the jumbo jet as it flew to the right and experienced some minor turbulence. Inside, a bolt shook loose and hit Brick on the head, causing him to look up at the ceiling. He was sitting against the left wall of the plane with his teammates.
A metal nut fell as the shot panned across the room to Team Warrior on the opposite wall.
"You look kinda nervous there, Jasmine," Topher commented.
"Why would I not be?" Jasmine replied. "This plane's held together with duct tape and plywood!"
"We're more likely to get in a car accident than a plane crash," Eva added.
"And getting into a car crash is a better death than plummeting from the sky," Gwen said.
The shot switched to an ominous patch of boards as a few of the smaller pieces began to fall to the floor, and with a great rumbling the larger ones got sucked out the hole they had been covering.
Team Explosive was shown straining to stay in their seats, Heather having the most difficulty. "Uh oh," she said in alarm as her body began to float a little. A few papers were shown getting sucked out of the hole, and the queen bee turned herself around in mid-air and scrambled to get hold of her seat. "Help!"
She was about to go flying, then her hands were suddenly grabbed by Rodney's. "Don't worry," the country boy told his teammate, "I've got you!"
"What a relief," Heather said before she noticed Rodney's seat belt straps start to tear. "But who's got you?"
Rodney gulped in panic as he saw the straps as well, and the two began to scream. They were sent flying off-screen...and the rush of air promptly stopped.
The camera cut to the hole, revealing that Brick had, in a manner of speaking, plugged the hole before the two could be sucked out of the plane. "Danger is averted," the cadet said, juggling around a roll of duct tape. "Is there anything this stuff can't do?" The hole that had once threatened the losers had been covered by a big map with several strips of the tape on it.
"Someone should tell Chris about that so he can fix it," Chase suggested.
Everybody turned silent, and then burst into laughter.
Confessional: Chase
"Chris is more likely to fix a robot version of himself than a plane that can and will endanger us," Chase said seriously.
Confessional Ends
The camera flashed to a close-up of Caleb taking a sip from a cup. "I'm really glad we won first class last time," he said to his team.
"Same here," Sky said as the camera showed that the two were sitting next to each other with Scott and Izzy in front of them. "I'll stay the team's leader if it means we can stay in first class."
"Since when did we dub you to be the boss of us?" Scott retorted.
"I don't see eye-to-eye with Scott, but we haven't decided on that mantle," Izzy pointed out.
"We had a bad history before, but you don't get to put me down, Scott," Sky chided. "Though Izzy does have a point when she said that we should put it to a vote."
"I couldn't agree more," Scott said insincerely. "I say Izzy should lead us. She was the one who built the boat for us last challenge."
"Technically, Millie already built part of it, but I did finish it after the team swap," Izzy said. "I vote for myself."
"I'll vote myself as well," Sky shrugged.
"I don't want to get involved, but let's just keep Sky as the leader," Caleb added.
"Sure," Sky eyed him suspiciously. "Sam? Anne Maria?"
"What do you guys want?" Anne Maria asked from her seat at the mini-bar next to Sam.
"We want you two to choose who should lead the team," Izzy described. "Me or Sky."
"I don't want to cause a fight, so I'll abstain from voting," Sam refused and continued playing on his GameGuy.
"I won't," Anne Maria said. "I want a change of pace with Izzy leading us since Sky already did so in the second season."
"With 3 to 2, it's settled," Izzy said and adopted a pirate accent. "I'll be the captain, mateys!"
"If that's what the team wants, then I shouldn't object and look like a bad sport," Sky said happily, though a frown could be spotted on her face.
Confessional: Anne Maria
"I know leadership is one of Sky's key traits, but I do want to see how someone as loopy as Izzy can manage a team of six," Anne Maria confessed while filing her nails. "She did manage to make the merge in the first season while I got eliminated second for raging out on my teammates over something I shoulda kept a close eye on."
Confessional Ends
"This is your captain speaking," Chris' voice said as the focus moved to a nearby speaker as the host continued. "It's time for everyone to join me in the common area. And I mean everyone."
The scene flashed to a panning shot of the dining compartment, the teams already seated or standing around the two tables. Team Super sat at the table closest to the host, with Team Warrior sharing a table with Team Explosive further back.
"Welcome to today's challenge," Chris began. "It's-"
"Is it a reward or elimination challenge?" Ripper asked.
"Good question Ripper," Chris told him, "aaaand like I'm gonna tell ya."
"Someone got booted last time," Brick said in a hushed voice, "so today's got reward written all over it."
"I could use a reward," Topher said. "As long as it's not another cheese factory."
"And I hope you all brought your giant radioactive monster repellent," Chris continued, "because, we are about to land in… JAPAN!" He quickly pointed to the doorway he was standing by, and Chef suddenly broke through it, an orange martial arts uniform in place of his usual clothes and a katana clenched in his teeth.
"Seriously?" Millie said in annoyance. "That's totally a Chinese outfit."
"Thank you Millie," Chris said dismissively. "Now as a reminder, anyone who doesn't sing-"
"I mean, you'd think you'd work harder to get it right after planning where we'll be going," Ripper said.
"Ripper," Chris warned. "Anyone who doesn't sing," he repeated forcefully, "is immediately disqualified."
"Especially considering how much you tried to avoid lawsuits last season. You're just asking to get one everytime we land somewhere new." As Ripper spoke, Chris gave Chef a wicked smirk that the pilot eagerly returned. Chef darted toward the side door, and the screen turned black. A few streaks of white crossed it in quick succession, each one accompanied by a metallic sound that implied the door being cut.
The footage resumed with a close-up of the door as Chef walked away from it. Despite the obvious slash marks, it held its shape, but only for a second. The shot zoomed in dramatically as the door shattered and the pieces flew out into the open air. The plane began to shake, and the explosive decompression quickly sucked the contestants out of the jet; the camera cut outside to show Heather, Brick, Millie, Ripper, and Scott fall back from the plane.
"Or we could've just landed the plane!" Chris said irately to Chef as both men held onto the doorway for dear life.
"Nah, too boring!" Chef told him.
Back outside, several of the teens were shown falling to the ground: Ripper, Millie, Caleb, Eva, Gwen, Izzy, Scott, Sam, Jasmine, and Brick. Their screaming was halted by the trademark dings of the music note icon in the corner of the screen.
"We have to sing right now?!" Sam yelled at the plane.
The shot cut up to the doorway as Chris leaned out with a megaphone to his mouth. "Sing, and I might think about saving your musical buttocks! Maybe you'll try harder this time, 'kay?"
"We're singing as we're falling!" Sky sang to a moderately-paced show tune with a panicked look on her face.
"While some are cannonballing!" Heather added as Izzy fell past the two while pretending to cannonball with a smile on her face and saying "Yeah!".
"Our lives begin to flash before our e~eyes!" Topher sang as the girls fell out of frame and he fell into it.
"As we keep falling do~own!" Sam and Scott sang as they fell into frame while Topher fell out.
"To the painful fall at the ground!" The two boys fell out of frame and Brick and Ripper fell into it, holding each other out of fear and singing.
"We say what we want to do before we die!" The camera pulled back to show all teens falling through the air as they sang. The music became more up-beat and fast-paced.
"Ranch farmer!" "Well-known lifter!" Rodney, then Eva said as they flew past the camera.
"Win the gold at the Olympics!" Sky added when the two left the screen and she flew past from the left.
"Find gold treasure." "Win an Emmy." Jasmine, then Topher said as they fell in and out of frame.
"Be a director that makes flicks!" Chase added as he fell past the camera.
"Demolition man!" "Prom destroyer!" Ripper, then Gwen said as they fell past the camera.
"Get accepted into MIT!" Caleb said and fell past the camera.
"Hairspray manager!" "Professional gamer!" Anne Maria, then Sam said as she fell in and out of frame and the camera panned down faster than he fell, making him look as if he were falling up.
"Start a book club just for free!" Millie finished as she flew, only for gravity to take effect with her. The music returned to its normal pace.
"But first we must stop dropping. Our goal here will be stopping." Scott sang as Millie fell out of frame and he fell into it before falling out himself.
"Before we smash into the ground from the sk~y!" Izzy sang energetically.
"Splat into tons of pieces." Brick sang as the camera cut back to him.
"Get eaten by puppies." Rodney added when the shot cut to him.
"That would really stink and here's why!" Eva sang as she returned to focus.
"We'd like to keep on living!" Anne Maria sang with a pleading look as the camera cut to her.
"And we hope Chris is giving-" Topher added as the camera pulled back to show him grabbing his girlfriend's hand. The music became quieter, only playing a simple note as the camera rapidly panned left, pausing on each contestant in turn who had joined hand-in-hand with one another as they suggested something for Chris to give them.
"Some wings!" Jasmine said.
"A jetpack!" Millie suggested.
"A rift in time!" Gwen spoke next.
"A parachute!" Heather added.
"Waterbed!" Brick said uncertainly.
"A trampoline!" Chase said.
"Springy shoes!" Ripper yelled.
"Rocket boots!" Caleb said.
"Flying carpet!" Eva yelled.
"Bounce house!" Scott added.
"Beanbag!" Sky begged.
"Kangaroos!" Izzy said.
"Water!" Rodney shouted.
"Guys!" Sam yelled. "A soft place to land will do~ooo!" he sang as the tune started back up again. The camera abruptly cut to a shot of the entire cast in the circle.
"And there's still so much to do before we die (There we said it!)! There's still so much to do! There's still so much to do! There's still so much to do before we die!" They all sang as one as the music flourished in its ending. "Yeah!"
The song ended there, and the scene changed to a long-distance shot of the now-scattered cast falling and screaming through the air. They landed in a giant bowl of rice, with Jasmine being the last one to plop into the grain about a half-second after the rest of the cast.
"Well this definitely looks Japanese," Izzy said upon surfacing.
"Oh really?" Scott asked, coming up next to her. "What makes you think that?"
"Probably because of all the rice," Rodney said, popping out behind them, various other people's limbs sticking out around him. "They eat rice in Japan, right?"
"Among other things," Sam said as he came up and took a breath. "Lucky for us, I've studied Japanese from playing their video games in case we need it."
"I'm already an Asian woman, so I can speak the language fluently," Heather chimed in. "Now let's get out of this bowl."
The footage skipped forward with a flash to a panning shot of the teams, Team Explosive was on the left, then Team Warrior, and finally Team Super. The pan ended as the camera reached the host and the gong he was standing next to.
"Okay, our first challenge is inside a Japanese game show studio," Chris explained. "Bow down before...," he bowed as he spoke in a dramatic tone. The shot changed to a pair of odd structures which, upon the camera's rapid outward zoom, were revealed to be the flippers on a giant pinball machine. "Super Human Mega Pinball Smash!"
Chase and Ripper gasped in excitement. "I love Japanese game shows!" Ripper said, sharing a high-five with the boy on his right.
"Yeah! My favorite is 'Human Itchy My Car Go-Go'," Chase said.
"That's the one where you have to throw a banana into a car window with-" Ripper explained.
"A giant shrimp fork!" Chase finished.
They were startled by a sudden sounding of the gong. "Oh look," Chris smiled as the shot cut to him, "my own personal geek gong! 'Kay, I'm gonna need one volunteer from each team to climb into these giant hamster balls," he explained as the camera cut to a line of three balls already loaded by the plunger, each one of the team's colors. "Then, your teammates are gonna beat you around the gameboard," shots of the flippers and the playfield were shown, "scoring points by bouncing you off bumpers and posts." The scoreboard was shown with Team Super's icon with the top row, Team Warrior's with the middle, and Team Explosive's with the bottom; close-ups of the various bumpers and such were shown as well.
"Most points win," Chris told them, "and I have a special local surprise for each of you to share your little ball-shaped paradise with." The members of Team Explosive were shown exchanging confused and skeptical looks. "So! Teams! Select a ball guy, or gal. Team Explosive?"
"We choose Chase," Brick volunteered.
"Why me?" Chase asked.
"You're a Japanese game show fan," Heather said. "And plus, you've competed in other reality TV shows before."
"Coolio," Chris said. "Here's your pinball buddy!" He held up a baby panda.
"That panda looks harmless enough," Brick said.
"It is cute," Chase said moments before the panda landed on the boy's head and started to bite and punch him, causing him to yell in pain.
"Aww," Chris said. "C-ute. Team Super?"
"I'll do it," Caleb said, stepping forward.
"Are you sure?" Sam asked. "Those things look vicious."
"I can handle myself around these animals," Caleb replied.
"With no more objections, Caleb is stepping up for the team!" Izzy announced.
"Wicked!" Chris said. "Incoming!" He threw the panda through the air and Caleb caught it before it could attack.
"Hey there," Caleb said to it. "Would you like me to nurture you while we share space inside of a giant pinball for the next few minutes?" The panda seemed to swoon.
"Aww," said Izzy.
"Aww," said the ladies of Team Warrior, minus Eva.
"AHHHH!" said Chase as he was still being attacked by the panda.
"Aaand Team Warrior?" Chris asked.
"I'll do it," Jasmine and Eva volunteered at the same time, prompting the two to look at one another.
"Sorry," Jasmine said, "but I am the most experienced with these types of animals."
"I'm more athletic than you," Eva countered, "and usually, animals are scared of me, so there's no way I'll get scratched."
"Fair enough," Jasmine told the muscle woman. "We'll let Eva do it."
"Think fast, Eva!" Chris said and hurled the third panda at her.
Eva caught it before it could attack. "One scratch on me, and I'll make a hat out of you," Eva threatened the panda. "Got that?" The panda nodded nervously.
Confessional: Eva
"Anyone who watched the first season knows what happened when I attacked Sasquatchanakwa," Eva reminisced. "I still own the hat and shoes I maimed out of it."
Confessional Ends
"It's Human Pinball time!" Chris announced over another shot of the three balls in the plunger as dramatic challenge music began to play. Chef, dressed as a fairly stereotypical samurai, pulled the knob back and sent the balls flying – red, then blue, then yellow; all three rolling around the curve of the playfield.
"Hey!" Chase shrieked during a close-up of the red ball, the panda still assaulting his head. He hit a red bumper, and 1000 points were shown being added to Team Explosive's score. The blue ball was also shown ricocheting off a few bumpers, scoring a thousand points for Team Super. "I can't lose my eyes!" Chase shrieked again as his hamster ball bounced off another bumper, and barely missed another. "Quit scratching!" the daredevil added as he was shown trying to pry the panda off his head while trying to control the ball by running.
"Good work panda!" Eva exclaimed as the focus cut to the yellow ball, which rapidly bounced between the wall and a series of posts. "You get to live for another day!" The camera cut in closer to show the strong girl holding her ball partner by her palms.
Meanwhile, Caleb was also having no difficulties with his panda partner. "Thanks for the assistance!" he said as he ran the ball along, the baby bear pointing something out. The camera cut outside as the blue ball bounced off another bumper, putting Team Super's score at 11,000. Caleb's ball rolled into a center hole, and was promptly launched straight up into the air. "Woah!" he yelped, both him and his panda floating in confusion.
The shot cut to the left paddle as the other members of Team Super tried to move it. "We will need a 33.7 angle in order to maximize the impact!" Izzy directed, pushing at the tip of the flipper with Sam.
"We know that already," Anne Maria said from closer to the flipper's base. "No need to repeat yourself!"
The group was startled and staggered by the sudden impact of the yellow ball against their flipper. "Thanks for the boost!" Eva shouted.
The blue ball was shown again, making several rapid bounces across the playfield; their part of the scoreboard was shown ringing up to 38,000 points. Eva's ball also continued to bounce, racking Team Warrior's score up to 40,000. The camera got a shot of all three balls next, the blue and yellow ones continuing to ricochet rapidly while the red had slowed noticeably. The scoreboard reflected this – Team Warrior and Team Super now had 44,000 each, while Team Explosive was lagging behind at a meager 15,000.
Chase's ball was shown rolling around again, only bouncing off a single bumper as it headed into the drain. The camera cut to it coming to a stop against the back wall, after which one half popped open and Chase slumped out onto the floor. "Aww man. That blew big time," he moaned as he looked back just as the panda walked out calmly and without a scratch.
Confessional: Chase
"I had the power to attack the panda, but that would've made me look bad to the public," Chase said in the restroom confessional, his whole body covered in scratches. "I'm not a pussy just because I refused to commit animal cruelty."
Confessional Ends
The challenge footage resumed with a shot of the remaining two balls bouncing around; they soon collided, and the yellow one was sent rolling all the way to the drain.
"You gotta be kidding!" Eva griped as she exited the giant hamster ball with the baby panda under her arm. "I was so close!"
Confessional: Eva
"Downside, I didn't get a justifiable opportunity to tear the panda and I lost the challenge," Eva mused in the restroom confessional. "Upside, I'm not going to be banned from Japan."
Confessional Ends
The final ball made its own final bounces, and rolled to a stop next to Team Explosive's. Caleb and his panda exited at the same time, and neither looked much worse for wear otherwise.
Team Super were shown cheering, and the background music took a triumphant finish as Chris walked up. "With a score of 101,000," he announced as the middle part of the scoreboard was shown again, "Team Super takes the Super Human Mega Pinball Smash, and wins a leg-up in the next Japanese challenge."
"I hope I don't have to do that ever again," Chase said weakly while feeling his scratches.
"Will Chase recover from his painful ride?" Chris asked the camera. "Or will Team Explosive be forced to go on without him? Stay tuned," a gong sounded and he began to chop the air with his hands as a demonstration, "there's more wacky-cappy-macky-teriyaki action after the break." He winked at the camera, and an Eastern-sounding music riff played.
(Commercial Break)
A stereotypical east Asian theme played as the episode resumed with a scene of Chris standing in what appeared to be last season's film lot. "Welcome to Total! Drama! Action!" he announced as the camera pulled back and a line of Japanese text appeared at the top of the screen.
"Where there will be crazy action," he continued over a clip of Sky and Trent running from a bear during the second season's first challenge, as viewed through a monitor. "And kooky filming," the host added over a clip of Izzy setting down film equipment at the top of a hill. "And somber eating," Chris said over a clip of Ripper grabbing a bowl of prunes in the second episode.
"The food is very good. Five stars." Though the words came out of Brick's mouth as he was shown in the confessional, it was very much not the cadet's voice even if the words were in English.
"I think I'm pretty cute myself," 'Izzy' told Chase as he powdered her face; once again, her voice was not her own though it still spoke English, and another line of Japanese text scrolled down the screen.
"Total Drama Action!" the actual Chris McLean said over a shot of his gleaming gold statue that was followed by a shot of the host and Chef in their formal attire at one of the Gilded Chris Ceremonies. "Pears and apples of fun!" A few shots of the animatronic monster's reign of terror over the contestants was shown next with yet another line of Japanese text on the screen, and the feed cut to static.
The scene immediately cut to a shot from behind the cast, sitting in standing in front of a movie screen, the static it showed getting quickly replaced by a generic globe image.
"What did I just watch?" Gwen asked in confusion.
"That piece of cinematic gold is the Japanese promo," Chris explained as he walked in front of the movie screen. "Total Drama is huuuuge here!"
"But why'd they dub our voices if it was in English?" Brick asked.
"Turns out the locals just don't like the sounds of y'all," Chris said with an impish shrug. "Sorry!"
"You're really not," Scott commented.
"True...," Chris conceded with a smile before moving on. "Ready for the next challenge? I hope you paid attention because you'll be writing, directing, and producing your very own Japanese commercial!" he announced happily.
"There's a brand new candy hitting the Japanese market," he explained before pulling out a pinkish bag of snacks with the image of a fishtail on the front. "It's Chef's 'Total Drama Yum Yum Happy Go Time Candy Fishtails'!" he said. "I call this the 'Total Drama Yum Yum Happy Go Time Candy Fishtails' Challenge. Of Celebration Fun." He winked at the camera and the light gleamed off his smile.
"Mmm, you said we were gonna pay a real Tokyo ad firm," Chef said in annoyance.
"Oops," Chris said with an unapologetic smile, "I did! Didn't I? As props," he continued without further thought towards the pilot, "you'll be allowed to use anything you can find in the airplane's storage area. Since Team Super won the first challenge, they get to choose their props first."
The six teens cheered and shared a group high five, though Caleb had to lean down in order to do so.
"With Team Warrior choosing second," Chris added, "and Team Explosive appropriately going last and getting stuck with... whatever dregs are left..." The five members of the team in question glared at the host.
The scene flashed to Team Super in the cargo hold where they were looking over boxes and crates full of miscellaneous junk.
"So what's this big plan of yours?" Scott asked Izzy.
"Before I start, I want to hear some suggestions before I make my plan," Izzy said.
"I have one," Sky said as she raised her hand.
"Go on," Izzy smiled.
"I'm of Cree descent, but I do know about some of Japan's culture and what they like to see," Sky explained. "So I think I should co-op with you in the leadership role for this challenge."
"You can be my second-in-command, Sky," Izzy told her. "I am still the de facto leader."
"Uh, sure," Sky said with confusion.
"We should get started before our ideas get stolen," Sam piped up.
"This is going to be mind-blowing," Izzy said. She picked up seemingly random items; a box of donuts, an empty and cracked fish tank, a string of Christmas lights, some firecrackers, and a dead seagull. Upon seeing the odd looks her team gave her, she simply said "Trust me" and led her team away as Team Warrior entered the scene.
"Good luck with your commercial, guys," Sam said to them as he passed.
"This team has a future TV host and a Japan fanatic on their side, i.e. me and Ripper," Topher replied confidently. "We don't need any luck."
"We lost the pinball challenge to Team Super," Ripper said, "but we can't be downers, because I have an idea that's bound to make audiences go wild!"
"We're making a commercial, not a movie," Gwen reminded. The goth noticed the Aussie was missing and asked "What do you see, Jas?"
"I'm seeing...," Jasmine said as she peered into an open box and pulled out a miniature house and a spider costume, "a tiny Tokyo... and a giant radioactive monster!" A grin formed on her face as she looked between the two objects.
Topher grinned. "Bingo! Ripper can be the monster!"
"Excellent idea," Ripper grinned, "and just the one I was thinking about."
"This is something we can do," Gwen said as she inspected the items. "I'm on board with the plan."
"What about you, Eva?" Jasmine asked.
"Sure. I guess," Eva boredly agreed, causing Topher to put a helmet on her head.
The scene flashed to the five members of Team Explosive looking at what remained of the props.
"Those teams packed the place pretty darn dry!" Rodney said as the camera cut to various boxes that were either empty or had useless stuff.
"Great. Now what do we do?" Heather grunted.
Brick looked at what was left and saw pens and markers, along with cardboard. "I think I know what we can do."
"Really?" Chase wondered. "Most of the boxes are empty and the stuff we do have are dull."
"Millie, have you ever convinced people back home to read your book?" Brick said to the writer.
"I did make some friends after season two ended, and while I admittedly tricked them into reading copies of my book by saying that there were pictures, I gave them bits of my money to make it up to them," Millie explained.
"That is the power of persuasion you can use to make our commercial come to life," Brick complimented.
"Grab everything that's here," Millie told her teammates. "We are going to shine."
Confessional: Brick
"I still don't like to lie to anybody, especially after Action," Brick said. "However, I can use smooth-talking and general charisma to sell people on something."
Confessional Ends
Another flash took the scene to Team Warrior as Eva, Gwen, and Jasmine set up a bunch of miniature buildings and cars. Ripper cleared his throat off-screen, prompting the camera to pan to him as he asked "How do I look?" In addition to the spider costume, he was wearing what looked like the head and hands of Chef's 'Mama Alien' costume from the second season.
"Like a real freak of nature," Gwen told him while looking him over. "Now let's work on your monster impression."
The two walked off, and the camera panned over to Topher as he tossed one of the candy fishtails into his mouth, chewed it a couple times, made a face of disgust, and puked it back out.
Confessional: Topher
"How can anyone even eat this stuff? It tastes like rotten fish," Topher explained in the restroom confessional before bending over and throwing up on the floor.
Confessional Ends
"It's simple," Millie said with a big smile. "I'm the best-selling author of a published book, so with me endorsing the candy, this will score us big points."
"I get that," Rodney said as the camera cut to him without his white shirt and overalls, revealing him to have a wife beater and long blue shorts. "But why am I supposed to look like this?"
"Because I need someone to convince to eat the candy," Millie told him. "And you can transform into your normal self after doing so."
"Works well enough for me," Brick said.
"Same here," Chase added.
"Hold up. I didn't compete last season," Rodney commented. "So how is this gonna work?"
"You did manage to recover from a bear attack," Brick said.
"And you as the off-screen voice would not be as interesting," Heather said.
"I guess I don't have a choice then," Rodney shrugged. "I'll do it."
"I'll go look around for a speakerphone," Heather left her team.
"Don't you think this is a bit overboard?" Caleb told Izzy, picking up a hockey mask and the dead seagull. "Chef's not going to take this seriously!"
"I'm not intending him to," Izzy said simply. "And be thankful that Sky convinced me not to go overboard with the explosions and fireworks."
"You have five minutes left to film your ad," Chris announced from off-screen. "Then it's Happy Fish...Yum...wha...whatever. We'll be watching them in five minutes."
"I'll go edit the commercial," Izzy told her teammates. "Take a short break!"
Confessional: Izzy
"Being in charge of a team was something I've never experienced ever since I was with Eva and Ripper," Izzy commented as she juggled a few fish tails and swallowed them. "I just hope this can keep up so that if we go someplace like Rome, I can lead my team through a battle challenge or something like that."
Confessional Ends
The footage skipped ahead to a shot of Izzy grinning. "This is perfect," the wild child said as she leaned back in the chair she was sitting in. "Chef's gonna love the exploding donuts."
"Izzy!" Sky called from off-camera, attracting the attention of her. "Can you help us capture the seagull? It's running around again!"
"Coming!" Izzy shouted and left the video editing booth.
After she left, the perspective moved over to reveal Heather sneaking up to the video editing equipment Izzy had been using. She smirked and started messing with Team Super's tape, then quickly changed to a panicked face as she heard footsteps. In rising panic, the queen bee made several more changes, then ducked behind a nearby crate just as Izzy returned.
"That seagull was a handful! But at least we're done!" Izzy said and grabbed a disc out of the computer.
The scene flashed back to the room the Japanese promo had been shown in, the camera panning across Team Explosive, Team Super, and Team Warrior as they stood together in wait.
"Why are you still wearing that?" Gwen asked Ripper as the latter walked up still in costume. "We are done shooting."
"I tried but... the zipper's stuck!" Ripper replied.
"Alright," Chris said as he walked up to the front of the room, "now that you're done filming, it's time to see if your hard work has paid off. Chef?"
The shot panned over to the sulking man. "No budget no ad agency rip-off cheese-ball cheap show," he grumbled as he pointed a remote towards an unseen projector.
"First up," Chris said, "Team Super with 'Fishtail Fanatics'!"
A fast-paced rock theme played as a single candy flew past a sunburst background. One by one, the team members, all wearing hockey masks, appeared on screen.
"One!" Izzy was first, performing a kick. "Two!" Next was Sky, in the middle of a somersault. "Three!" Scott was third, crossing his arms and looking at the camera. "Four!" Caleb was fourth, flexing his arms. "Five!" Anne Maria was next, winking at the camera. "SIX!" Sam was last, slamming his GameGuy shut and dodging a donut that had flown onscreen and exploded.
"Total Drama Yum-Yum Happy Go Time Candy Fishtails!" The team sang as the scene was replaced by a fishtail jumping out of a cracked fish tank and exploding into an array of Christmas lights. However, the commercial suddenly slowed down as they sang and the screen started to turn bright green and orange.
"Eat them now! Eat them then! Eat them anytime!" Izzy yelled through a speakerphone in a strangely slurred tone as more donuts exploded, changing the scene to the dead seagull.
"Just eat them now!" Izzy cheered as the bird 'ate' the candy. "Yeah!"
The commercial ended, and Chris raised an eyebrow at Team Super. "What was that?"
"That was our commercial, obviously," Anne Maria pointed out. "We didn't plan to make it like that."
"Izzy," Sam turned his head towards her, "why did you change the theme to our commercial?"
"I didn't edit the commercial to sound all slow," Izzy defended herself. "Why would I do something like that?"
"Because you're the only one who was in the editing room," Scott accused. "You probably did this just for laughs."
"I do like bright colors, but I'm not dumb enough to tamper with the commercial," Izzy shot back.
"Either way, we're probably going to lose," Caleb complained.
"Anyway," Chris said, shaking himself out of shock. "Next is Team Warrior with, 'Monster Rampage'!"
The grainy film began with a close-up of one of the cardboard box buildings before zooming out dramatically to reveal Monster-Ripper tromping and smashing around the fake city to an appropriately dangerous and old-timey musical score. He roared over various close shots of him destroying the city and smashing a pair of model trucks together.
The shot changed to look down on Topher, Jasmine, Gwen, and Eva, standing tense and fearful with army helmets on. Monster-Ripper stood up in the foreground of the shot, the angle making it look like he was towering over the others.
"Oh no! The big and burly monster!" Topher reacted.
"We must run!" Jasmine declared.
"Think of the children!" Gwen mentioned.
The next shot looked up at Ripper as he roared again, and the camera cut to Eva as she pulled the fish tails out. "Show no fear!" she declared. "We can use these to defeat the monster!" She threw a fish tail at Ripper.
It was shown landing right in the big boy's mouth, who quickly swallowed it and smiled. "Delicious!" Ripper said.
The old-timey music was replaced by a more modern electronic beat as Ripper began to stand in front of an orange-and-yellow spiral background, the heads of his four teammates appearing around him – Eva and Gwen in the upper left and right, and Jasmine and Topher on the bottom.
"Total Drama Yum Yum Happy Go Time," the four sang together as their heads pulsed and bobbed and the background spun, "Candy Fish Tails, better than no-no. Total Drama Yum Yum Happy Go Time, tastes so good! Wash your face!" The heads and monster were replaced by a lone bag of the candies as the commercial came to its end.
"Next up," Chris said. "Team Explosive with 'Afterglow'!"
The commercial started with Rodney standing in an all-white scene.
"Is something the matter?" Millie asked offscreen.
"Yeah," Rodney sighed to the camera. "My family's bus got broken, I can't get a date, and my farm just got burnt down. How will I ever find happiness again?"
"If you want to not be a downer, why not have this?" Millie tossed a bag of candied fish tails to Rodney.
"What are these?" Rodney looked confused.
"They're the Total Drama Yum Yum Happy Go Time Candy Fish Tails everyone's been eating," Millie explained. "They're nutritious, soft to chew, and are especially tasty! Eat one, and your life will change!"
Rodney put one into his mouth, and as his eyes widened in shock, the screen began to glow a bright flash of white light that took over the screen. When it faded, Rodney went back to wearing his normal outfit.
"You heard that clearly," Rodney told the camera. "Eat these, and you can become as optimistic and fit as me." He smiled at the camera and the scene faded.
"That was... interesting," Chris said uncertainly. "Well, Chef?"
The shot cut to Chef. "Chris, I think I gotta go with Team Warrior." The five teens immediately began to cheer. "I just like city destruction."
"Way to go guys!" Jasmine cheered.
"First class here we come!" Ripper cheered while high-fiving Topher. "And I'm keeping the monster costume!"
"Congratulations Team Warrior," Chris told them. "But Chef, I also have to know: who bit the biggest?"
"Uhh," Chef said with a contemplative glare, "those guys." He pointed at Team Super, who widened their eyes in surprise. "You had a good concept, but something clearly went screwy. You lose!" he declared with a fierce expression. "You're sending someone home! Tonight!"
"Nice going, team leader!" Scott snidely scolded Izzy.
"I didn't mess up the commercial!" Izzy said angrily.
"Wait," Sky said in shock. "It's not a reward?"
"Well," Chris told them with a wide grin. "I'm sure enjoying it."
The scene flashed to the plane's loser class, where Sam was sitting.
"I wish I brought along Omar with me," Sam said to himself. "Then again, he could've gotten lost in a plane as big as this or gotten sucked up and killed."
"Sam, we need to talk," Scott said as he walked up.
"Uh, what's up?" Sam greeted.
"Have you decided on who to boot out?" Scott got to the topic.
"I'm still stumped," Sam said. "I want to vote you off after you stole Omar from me, but you didn't do anything to mess up."
"And that's why we should go after Izzy," Scott said.
"But Izzy is one of the more skilled contestants of the show," Sam raised an eyebrow.
"She tanked the challenge for us today," Scott noted. "We allow her to be our leader and this is how she repays us?"
"But what if she was framed?" Sam wondered.
"I don't think anybody from our team would be crazy enough to screw up our commercial on purpose," Scott said and walked away. "Whatever you want to do, make it count."
Sam watched him leave, and he began to think thoughtfully.
"Iiiit's vote time!" Chris announced to the members of Team Super, currently sitting at a table in the dining area. "Up in the loser class bathroom you'll find six passports. Stamp the passport of the team member you'd like to send home. Got it?"
"We got it!" Anne Maria shot at the host.
Voting Confessional: Anne Maria
The Jersey Girl sprayed her hair before stamping her vote.
Voting Confessional: Sam
The Gamer stamped an unseen passport.
Voting Confessional: Izzy
The Wild Child stamped a passport with no hesitation.
Voting Confessional: Caleb
The Hot Player shrugged and stamped a passport.
Voting Confessional: Sky
The Athlete frowned at the passport she stamped with concern.
Voting Confessional: Scott
The Devious Farmer confidently looked at a passport and stamped it.
Voting Confessional: Panda
The next confessional was, of all things, a baby panda affectionately hugging Caleb's passport.
Voting Confessionals End
A gong sound as the scene cut to the elimination room, Chris and Chef standing by the door while the six teens waited near the seats. The host was holding six passports fanned-out in his hand, while Chef carried a tray with five bags of barf-coated peanuts.
"Those staying in the game will get in-flight snacks," Chris said while Chef smiled at the camera, "aaand if you don't get one, you'll be taking the Drop of Shame." The camera focused on the door as it swung open. The six contestants were shown standing in stunned silence, and the host continued. "The following players are safe: Sam!" Chef eagerly threw a bag of peanuts at the gamer, who frowned at the host when the bag hit him in the face. "Anne Maria!" Next in line, the tanned girl grunted in annoyance when her prize hit her in the side. "Sky!" Likewise, the gymnast made a noise of displeasure upon getting hit in the stomach. "Caleb!" This time, Caleb was ready and he caught his peanuts.
"And," Chris said with a pause as Scott and Izzy were shown looking nervous, "the final bag goes to...Scott!" The farmer was shown smirking in relief shortly before all attention moved to the wild child.
"Me?" asked a stunned Izzy. "Why me?"
"Not to offend you, but you were the one who led us to be here," Caleb replied.
"I know full well that I didn't ruin the commercial!" Izzy said as she walked forward past Chef Hatchet and took the parachute pack from him. "It had to have been-"
She was interrupted by a swift kick from Chef Hatchet that sent her flying out the door, screaming at the top of her lungs.
"I knew that would be satisfying!" Chris said with a grin.
The camera cut outside, focusing first on the parachute pack that was hooked on Izzy's legs before panning up to the girl who was clinging onto something. "I can't leave just yet!" she declared over the roaring wind. "Not when I haven't been to every location this season!" The camera zoomed out some more to show that she was clinging to the tip of the horizontal stabilizer on the tail of the jet as she screamed "MY WORLD TOUR IS NOT OVER!"
Confessional: Sam
"I feel bad for Izzy," Sam confessed. "I didn't vote for her like Scott told me to because I knew she was innocent, and even then, she got the boot. I wonder who could've messed up our commercial?"
Confessional: Heather
"Sorry, Izzy, but I came here to win," Heather declared. "Even if it means robbing you out of the game. And by the way, exploding donuts are so juvenile."
Confessionals End
"Sayonara, from Japan," Chris said over a close-up of an airplane symbol placed over the relevant spot on a world map. The shot zoomed out and the symbol began looping westward across the map to the roar of the real jet's engines. "Where will our travels take us next?"
"Will Team Explosive ever win a challenge?" he asked over a shot of the team looking non-victorious. "What other products do Chef want to sell?" The next shot showed the cook grinning at a donut held in his palm which had a firecracker stuck in it; the fuse burnt down and the donut exploded, covering the man with dough.
"All these questions, and many more," Chris continued as the camera cut to him lounging in the cockpit, "probably won't be answered. On the next episode of, Total! Drama! Woooorrrrlllddd~ Tooouuurrrr~!" At the final zoom-out, the furthest-out engine on the left wing suddenly exploded and fell off.

(Bonus Clip)
The scene faded in from black, the camera zoomed in on the left wing of the Total Drama Jumbo Jet.
Izzy was still clinging to the edge of it with her hands. She raised her right hand and grabbed hold of the wing. She did the same with her left hand, then dragged herself forward.
"I'm not going to get back on the plane just to rejoin the game if that's what you're thinking," she said to the camera as she pulled herself up along the wing. "Stowing away is something I've done in delivery vans, buses, and even boats," she added. "But never in a plane. This is a first for everything."
She continued to pull herself along for a few seconds before she muttered "Hopefully they saved a few barf bags for me! I could really use the nutrients from those peanuts!"

Author's Note: Izzy didn't have much plot going for her but we figured she'd fit well with the whole Ezekiel arc(which will not end with her going feral, mark my words). Hopefully you enjoyed this chapter and I encourage you all to review this story as it helps motivate us to continue writing it.
