Chapter 4: Tree Trunks

On a sunny afternoon, Mirabel and her Roomates were in the forest of apple trees doing various things with apples: The girls and Tails were picking some to bring back to the little elephant friend Tree Trunks, while Sonic and Knuckles were waving around swords, cutting apples, and wearing apples on their heads while laughing.

Sonic and Knuckles: Swords! Yeah, swords! Whoo!

Mirabel: *scolds the boys* Oh, men and their swords... Yo guys, how about you stop horsing around with Tree Trunks apples and bring them here instead!

Sonic: Aw come on, Mira! Were just having some fun.

Knuckles: Yeah Mira, don't ruin it for us, again.

Mirabel: *Glares while pointing at empty apple baskets* Apples. in. the. basket. now

Both boys awe in disappointment, but did as was told, not wanting to annoy their human friend into turning them into a pair of rabbits, or squirrels or some other kind of woodland animal, again.

Tree Trunks: *Comes outside* Kids, stop with the apple picking for now and come on over! I baked y'all an apple pie.

Sonic: Yeah, apple pie!

Knuckles: Whooo-hoo-hoo!

Tails: Great, i'm starving *runs at the cottage door*

Mirabel: *Drops one last apple in the basket* I could go for a slice myself, come along girls.

Amy and Sticks: *Drop their apples in the baskets* Coming!

Tree Trunks sets the pie down on a table as everyone sat around it

Sonic: Apple pie!

Knuckles: *blocking Sonic* Don't let him eat it all!

Tree Trunks: *chuckles* Now, you kids sit down and behave yourselves. Oh!

A fly lands on her apple pie

Tree Trunks: Shoo, fly! Get off my apple pie! Huh! *dramatically* A fly landed on my pie. That's no good. *She throws it away.* Bye-bye.

Everyone gasp at what Tree Trunks did

Mirabel: Why are you throwing the pie away TT?

A bunch of flies fly in and fly around the pie; everyone groan in disgust at the sight

Tree Trunks: Flies want it, they can have it.

Tree Trunks: Anyways, don't y'all worry 'cause the new pie is coming in the wag of a lamb's tail.

Everyone cheers at the new pie.

Tree Trunks: *Cuts slices and gives one to each of her guests* Come on, go ahead.

Everyone eats Tree Trunk's delicious apple pie. Mirabel and Amy were digging in a slow, almost lady-like pass while the boys and Sticks were stuffing their faces to Amy's disguise and Mirabel's amusement.

Tree Trunks: Sooo, what you think?

Sonic: Best apple pie ever!

Tree Trunks: Oh, Sonic, thank you, but that ain't the best apple pie.

Mirabel: *Finished her slice* What are you talking about, Tree Trunks? What can be better than your apple pie?

Tree Trunks: Well Mirabel, let me answer that question with this one: what would you do if you could do anything you wanted?

Mirabel: Anything? Well, *Thinks for a moment* 'Tell Sonic that i like him as more then a friend.' I would go back to my home town and knock some senses into my family for neglating me for 5 years, especially my Abuela.

Sonic: 'Tell Mira that i like her as more then a friend' I'd built my own race track and run through it forever.

Sticks: Eliminate magic from the face of Ooo, so it can no longer put are lives in danger.

Knuckles: I'd dig as much holes as i want wherever i want. Princess Bubblegum's law of no tunnel digging under the Candy Kingdom be damn.

Tails: Owning my own plane, *Smile* a wish that will soon come true once i'm done putting together the engine in my lab.

Amy: Help Ice King overcome his insanity and become a productive member of the Kingdom.

The others laugh at that, but stopped when Amy gave them all a death glare with her hammer half pulled out.

Mirabel: *Clears her throat* And what would you do, Tree Trunks?

Tree Trunks: I would go pick an apple.

Knuckles: ...Lame.

Mirabel slaps Knuckles

Knuckles: *Rubs his face in pain* What!? She picks apples every day, what's so special about picking 1 apple.

Tree Trunks: Oh butthis apple ain't like the apples that I pick. They say it's the apple of apples; rarest kind of all. Legends call it the Crystal Gem Apple.

Amy: It sounds amazing Tree Trunks! Where is it?

Tree Trunks: I've heard that it grows at the deepest end of the Evil Dark Forest.

Sonic: Whoo! Tree Trunks you gotta go pick that apple!

Everyone else except Mirabel: YEAH!

Tree Trunks: What? Me? Oh, no I'm just a cute little elephant. I'm not cut out for adventuring.

Mirabel: She has a point guys. The Evil Dark Forest is one of the most dangerous places in all of Ooo, even for seasoned Adventurers like us.

Sonic: But Mira! This is her dream! And you always say we should pursuit are dreams no matter what. And Tree Trunks, think about eating that apple with your own mouth.

Knuckles: Or your trunk.

Sonic: Imagine the flavor.

Tails: And your satisfied face.

Tree Trunks: Really? You think I can handle the Scary Dark Forest?

Amy: With us supporting you the whole way! Of course you can.

Sticks: You're like the closest think i ever have to a mom Tree Trunks. If you go, i'll be there to help to.

Tree Trunks: *Smiles at Sticks, then turns to Mirabel* What about you Mirabel, do you think i should give it a try?

Mirabel wasn't as sure as here friends about this, but seeing the hesitant, yet hopeful look on the little elephant's face is strongly wearing her resolve to keep her safe at the cost of her happiness down. Plus Sonic's right about her saying one should pursuit their dreams no matter what, and she refuses to let the others think she's some kind of hypocrite.

Mirabel: *Smiles at her* It's your choice TT, i can't make it for you.

Tree Trunks: *Nods* Okay then. I'll do it. Call me... Adventurer Tree Trunks.

Adventure Time Screen comes with Tree Trunks as the sword

Everyone: Yeah, Tree Trunks!

The Evil Dark Forest, some time later

The gang were now walking through the dark, scary forest, with Tree Trunks sitting on Sticks head and a picnic basket on top of her own head.

Tree Trunks: I love being so high up from the ground!

Knuckles: Psst, I can take you even higher on my shoulders if you want.

Mirabel: No Knuckles. She has a weak heart.

Knuckles: Oh, yeah.

A few steps further, they suddenly step into something that looks like flesh

Amy: Ewww, why is this ground all squishy?

Knuckles: Whatever it is, I'm liking it. Oh, yeah!

Tree Trunks: I wanna try!

Sticks: Okay. I'm cool with you letting you do whatever you want.

Tree Trunks: Heeheehee! It's like some cookie dough!

An eye suddenly comes up and stares quit angrily at Tree Trunks

Tree Trunks: Oh, hello there.

Mirabel: Uhh, Tree Trunks, stay away from that.

The Wall of Flesh then rises up and attacks the gang

Mirabel: Ugh, oh you're so gonna get it, wall of flesh.

they then all attacked the monster from various angles, but it doesn't seem to be affecting it at all.

Tree Trunks: An eye and a mouth. Well, I think I got the perfect thing for him or her *Reaches into the pic-nic basket*... stickers!

Mirabel: *Pauses in her attack* Careful, Tree Trunks, this thing is evil.

Tree Trunks: Here's a rainbow sticker, and here's a scratch-and-sniff sticker. Smells just like a pickle. Oh, and this one is a holographic unicorn, but it doesn't have a horn.

The monster then grabs Tree Trunks

Tree Trunks: Oh, now, whatcha doing?

Mirabel: Huh? Tree Trunks! *Mirabel Zaps the wall of flesh in the eye, causing it to drop Tree Trunks before he can eat her*

It then goes to hide in a nearby tree

Everyone: Whoo!

Mirabel: You better stay in that tree, los anormal (You freak). *Turns to tree trunks with a worried look* Um, Tree Trunks were you putting stickers on that evil monster?

Tree Trunks: Yes, I thought it needed some tender love and affection. Oh, what a pretty butterfly!

Tree Trunks follows the butterfly

Mirabel: Tree Trunks? Ugh. guys, I just realized that Tree Trunks is old and bonkers. We can't take her through this Evil Dark Forest any further.

Amy: *Gasp, then glares* Mirabel Madrigal, Tree Trunks might be old, but she is NOT bunkers. A little Whimsical and absent minded at the worst times yes, but not bunkers. That being said, after seeing what just happened i agree with you, lets take Tree Trunks back home.

Sonic: Nah, she'll be fine.

Mirabel: But Sonic, you saw what happened.

Sonic: Yeah, you saved Tree Trunks from the monster. You kept her safe, just like we promised her.

Mirabel: Yeah, this time. But i might not be able to save her next time.

Sonic: Then i will, or Sticks will, or Knuckles, or Amy or even Tails. It's fine Mira, she'll be fine.

Mirabel: *Sighs* I don't know, Maybe... *Then notices TT's gone* Tree Trunks?

Amy: Where'd she go?

Mirabel: Tree Trunks!

Meanwhile

Tree Trunks continued to follow the butterfly down a path full of signs indicating not to go down it, signs like ''Not Here'' and ''Stay Away'', laughing merely the whole way. The second she passed the signs, they came to life and followed Tree Trunks menacingly.

Back with the others

Mirabel: We gotta find her, guys! Tree Trunks!

Sonic: Where are you, Tree Trunks?

And while they're all looking, Tree Trunks sets up a nice little picnic with the butterfly

Tree Trunks: And here's your teacup, and here's my teacup. *The evil sign posts were behind Tree Trunks, beginning to surround her*

Everyone: Tree Trunks! *Gasp in fright*

Tree Trunks: *Pulls a sandwich out of the basket* And here's your sandwich. *Evil Sign slaps it out of her trunk* Oops, you dropped it.

Mirabel: *Fearfully screams* Tree Trunks, run!

Tree Trunks: Oh, hey, Mirabel. *Evil Sign Posts turn towards the gang*

Everyone: *Gets ready to fight* Hiya!

Mirabel: *Hands sparking with magic* Time to call your mamas, evil sign posts.

The gang then starts to fight the sign posts

Tree Trunks: Patience, boys. There's enough tea for everyone.

Mirabel: *runs to and reaches out for the little elephant between the sign posts* Errr...

The Evil sign posts grabs Tree Trunks, but Mirabel managed to break through and grabs Tree Trunks before conjuring up a protective barrier around them.

Mirabel: NO!

Tree Trunks: Oh, Mirabel. What a nice hug.

The posts were jacking up at Mirabel's barrier, who slowly began to crack.

Mirabel: I'm not hugging you! I'm trying to save your life! *Barrier cracks further* There's too many!

Sonic: Mira?!

Sonic saw his BFF (and secret crush) and Tree Trunks in danger, and began to spin dash all of the sign posts into pieces, until none remain.

Tree Trunks: Oh, Mirabel. That tea party was crummier than a big old biscuit.

Mirabel: *Looks angry* Errrr. Tree Trunks, we almost got jacked up because of you. Everybody knows that Evil Sign post looking monsters make very poor tea party guests, all monsters make very poor tea party guests.

Tree Trunks: Are you mad at me?

Mirabel: *Glares* Yes, yes i am. *Takes a deep breath to calm down* but that's alright, i forgive you. Partly because you're too super-cute for me to stay mad at, and partly because you have no adventurer skills, so i can't really hold you completely accountable for this attack. Now, let's go find and eat the heck out of that crystal gem apple together.

But suddenly, A Snake armed ruby brain beast comes out of another forest entrance to attack them.

Mirabel: Dang it!

Amy: You guys go fight—I'll keep Tree Trunks out of trouble.

Mirabel: Thanks Amy *War cries while running at the beast with the others to fight it*.

Tree Trunks: A-Amy, i don't think the others are handling that thing very well.

Amy: At first glance its true, but Mira and the others can handle it. It's not their first monster fight you know.

Tree Trunks: Still, I think I know a way to help them out.

Amy: Uhh i don't think its such a good idea TT, you should stay behind me and my hammer *takes out her hammer* where it's safe.

Tree Trunks: Listen Amy, i know I'm not a top notch adventurer like you or the others, but i am a woman with plenty of life experience. And right now those experiences coupled with my womanly instincts tell me to seduce that tentacle critter with my womanly charms and elephant prowess.

Amy: Uhh, I don't think so.

Off-screen, Tree Trunks knocks Amy unconscious before doing her make up and moving behind the brain beast to try and seduce it with a strange dance.

Knuckles: Uh, what are you doing here, Tree Trunks?

Tree Trunks: I'm helping you by tempting this guy with my body.

Mirabel: It's not a guy, Tree Trunks! It's a Snake Armed Ruby Brain Beast!

Tree Trunks: Even brain beasts get lonely, Mirabel!

Mirabel: Amy! You were supposed to watch her!

Amy: *Rubs her head while slowly getting up* Owww, She hit me from behind with her basket. I don't know what else she keeps in there, but it sure must be heavy.

Mirabel: GET her out of here!

Amy: Huh? *Runs towards Tree Trunks with her hammer and smacks the snake arms away from her*

Amy: Will somebody kill it already!

Mirabel: Wee can't find it's magic gem weak spot!

The Brain Beast then turns around to attack Amy, revealing a giant red jewel stuck to its back.

Mirabel: Oh, there it is *Conjures up a large golden Hammer and jumps at it, smashing the gem into pieces with the hammer and the beast along with it, just before they both disappear into oblivion*.

Tree Trunks: *Laugh* I did it! I helped! I'm the sexiest adventurer in the world!

Mirabel: Tree Trunks! You're not an adventurer! *Gets angry* You knock Amy from behind and nearly got yourself killed, again! Do you wanna die, Tree Trunks?! Is that what you think adventurers do?! Knock their friends unconscious, Die and make them all feel terrible 'cause they couldn't save them?!

Tree Trunks cries and everyone looks at Mirabel shocked and disappointed

Sticks: *Looks Mad* Mirabel, take back what you just said.

Mirabel: No Sticks, Tree Trunks needs to understand what she's doing is dangerous and irresponsible, both to us and herself.

Tails: Well Yeah, but is yelling at her necessary?

Mirabel: How else is she to listen. Ever sense we left to get that Crystal Gem Apple she wants to pick, she's been getting us into more and more danger. Telling her nicely doesn't work, and if telling her the harsh truth makes her cry, well i'm fine with that, cause then maybe she'll understand why i do it and get her act together *Turns around and crossed her arms in finality*

Tree Trunks: *Cries more* I'm going home now.

Sticks: Tree Trunks wait! *Turns angrily to Mirabel* Mirabel, appologize to Tree Trunks this instant.

But Mirabel didn't apologize, or said anything really, she just stood there arms crossed and back to the others.

Tree Trunks: Don't bother Sticks. *Walks away* Oh, Mirabel... You shouldn't yell at cuties that just wanna help you.

Back with the Others

both Sticks and Amy were yelling angrily at a still silent Mirabel for her actions, with the boys standing at the side watching with their hands over their ears to block out the yelling. After a whole minute of this, Sonic has had enough.

Sonic: *Comes behind the girls and pulls them away* Amy, Sticks that's enough, it's plain to see that shouting at her is not doing anything. *Walks to Mirabel* Mira come on, lets go find Tree Trunks, you apologize to her and we can continue on are quest for the Crystal Gem Apple

He tries to grab her hand, but Mirabel pulls back and turns to face him.

Mirabel: I will not apologize for telling Tree Trunks the truth Sonic. She almost got herself, and us killed 3 times with her antics.

Sonic: She was only trying to help us in her own way Mira...

Mirabel:... And that's fine if wee were anywhere other then the Dark Evil Forest, but wee are not... *Sighs* I only agreed to this quest to make her and everyone else happy, not looking like a hypocrite for denying her dreams, all despite my apprehensions. But if i had forseen exactly what would have happened i would have taken the risk and said no. No fruit shaped crystal, no matter how tasty it might be is worth loosing a friend to an evil monster, is it worth it to you guys!?

Mirabel's logic finally hit home with the others, if just a bit.

Knuckles: Well, we should at least go find and escort Tree Trunks home areselves so she won't bump into any other monsters. After that, we could come back to find the apple and bring it back to her house to cheer her up. What about that?

The others agreed immediately no problem, but Mirabel had to think about it for a moment.

Mirabel: *Sigh* Alright, we'll do it that way. *Walks ahead* lets go find Tree Trunks.

So the group walked in the direction Tree Trunks was heading, until they heard a big ''OH!'' in Tree Trunks voice. Thinking she was in trouble again, they ran until they reached her... standing in front of a twisted, red barked tree holding an apple shaped gemstone in the center of its bark.

Tree Trunks: Everyone, I found the crystal gem apple.

Sticks: Woohoo!

Knuckles: You're the man, Tree Trunks!

Mirabel: *Walks to Tree Trunks and kneels* Listen Tree Trunks, well i won't apologize for justifyingly scolding you about the dangers you put us and yourself through. I want you to know that i only yelled at you and said those harsh things because i care deeply about your well being and don't want to see you get hurt.

Tree Trunks: That's alright, Mirabel. While i was trying to find my way home, i thought about what you said and came to the realization that you were right, and i just want to say that i'm sorry for putting you all in danger like i did.

Mirabel: Oh Tree Trunks. You are most certainly forgiven. *Hugs the little elephant*

Crystal Guardian Mirabel: Oh Tree Trunks. You are most certainly forgiven. *Hugs a crystal version of the little elephant*

Everyone but Mirabel and Tree Trunks: Hein!?

Then other crystal versions of themselves came out from behind the tree, saying ''Hein?!'' in return

Mirabel: Crystal guardians! *Let's go of the Elephant* Tree Trunks, stay out of the monster battle this time, please.

Tree Trunks: I promise I will.

Mirabel: Gracias! Now back off you all!

Crystal Guardian Mirabel: Now back off you all!

Mirabel: Stop copying me! Grrah! *Charges at her Crystal Doppelganger, golden hammer conjured in hand*

Crystal Guardian Mirabel: Stop copying me! Grrah! *Charges at her with a crystal version of her golden hammer*

As soon as their weapons collided, both hammers shattered into pieces of crystal and gold, and the force of the impact pushed away the 2 Mirabels who landed hard on their butts.

Mirabel: *Rubs her bruised but* A-a-oww..

Sonic: Mira! Graw! *Launches a spin attack*

Crystal Guardian Sonic:Graw! *Launches a spin attack to*

They collided head on, and both bounced off each other and landed hard on the ground

Sonic: *Rubs his back* Ow! Ow.

Mirabel: They're copying everything we do.

Meanwhile

Tree Trunks was picking at some mushrooms, when she noticed the butterfly she was following earlier had returned, playing a little red keyboard. He was accompanied by his friends, each playing their own instrument or dancing to the tune.

Tree Trunks: Hey! It's my butterfly-friend. That's precious. *Dances to the tune of the butterflies*

Knuckles: Whoo! Shake it, Tree Trunks!

Crystal Guardian Knuckles: Whoo! Shake it, Tree Trunks!

All the Crystal Guardians then watched as the crystal version of Tree Trunks danced to the same rhythm as her original, just like the others.

Mirabel: Sweet! Now's my chance to break them up while their distracted by Crystal Tree Trunks Dancing! Yaah! *Fires Magic bolts the the CGs, but they bounced off their reflective bodies and right back at sender, Zapping Mira and the others.

Sonic: *Fur smoking a bit* Crud, this is really smarts.

Mirabel: *Looks at Tree Trunks, then at the Crystal Guardians* Oh, man, i can't believe i'm saying this! But we gotta fight this one Tree Trunks style.

Amy: I'll get the make up.

Later, after putting on make up, the whole group was dancing with Tree Trunks, causing their Crystal copies to do the same and be maneuvered to the trees, where Mirabel levitated Tree Trunks to the Apple's level, and their crystal copies did the same.

Mirabel: Young Witch, little elephant, you have earned the right to taste the Crystal Gem Apple, enjoy it with are blessing.

Crystal Guardian Mirabel: Young Witch, little elephant, you have earned the right to taste the Crystal Gem Apple, enjoy it with are blessing.

Mirabel: Heh-heh, you heard the guardian, TT. Bite that thing.

Tree Trunks: Okay! *Takes a bite out of the Crystal Gem Apple*

Mirabel: Whoo! So how's it taste, Tree Trunks?

Sticks: Yeah Mama Trunks! How is it?

An unhappy faced Tree Trunks exploded a few seconds after taking the bite, leaving everyone, both fleshy and crystal skin, shocked in horror, but none were more shock then Mirabel, who kept looking at the hands that held the little elephant not long ago. After the shocking disappearance, Tree Trunks is seen walking in front of a crystal background, singing and laughing.
